I'm a general contractor and have worked with many, many contractors in the past. Don't be fooled by this company's professional online profile as I was. Maybe the positive online reviews were warranted at some point in the past but most certainly not now. The crew performing the work were alright overall but the management team Thiago and Carol are unprofessional, incompetent and dishonest. The professional veneer that they present with their website and initial communication-Is just that, a veneer. When I think about those "best of" badges they display in their branding I can't help but laugh now. Though the overall craftsmanship exhibited was decent, there were several missteps throughout the project. The largest one was painting the entire exterior of my home the wrong tone of white. They were given a sample to have a color match (computerized) performed on and they failed to do this. Instead I received an off the shelf white paint, with a slight blue undertone. Baffling how a professional painting company has no knowledge of the nuance of color- undertones, lighting, etc. Throughout the project I questioned the color and suspected they were using an off the shelf white. I asked Carol about this several times and was assured that a custom color match was done. I paid an additional $1500 for a third coat of paint because the color I sought had not been achieved after 2 coats. Ultimately I had to keep digging for them to finally admit that no computerized color match was performed. An off the shelf white was indeed used. Instead of taking accountability, they blamed Sherwin Williams. Deflection is really all they do. Well they weren't even supposed to be using Sherman Williams paint. The work proposal they submitted, stated that they would be using Benjamin Moore Moorgard for the project. I requested numerous times to speak with Thiago, the owner but was never able to. Later I found out that he moved back home to his native Brazil. He says he lives in an area where there is poor network connectivity- which makes him unavailable to speak with on the phone. Interesting given that all project decisions seem to go thru him. As a concession for the color debacle, Thiago agreed to paint my porch roof free of charge. He said they'd get it done on 10/28. I called and text them the day before to confirm that they were indeed coming --crickets. Thiago has told so many lies throughout this process it's unbelievable. This is a clown show. They sent out 2 ladies who didn't speak English to paint my kitchen and fix dents in the kitchen wall. The dents still remain and caulking was not done properly. I attempted to fix their caulking mistake but I'm no professional, so it looks bad. I worked with SPP a few years ago to paint my house without issue. My most recent experience was unfortunately very misleading, disappointing and shady. * I had my decking stained and requested for a transparent Walnut stain to be used. They used some sort of brown solid stain that looks like brown paint and is not what was specifically agreed to. * A step near my door was supposed to be painted white and they instead used a light green/gray that they had in their van. * They originally said they would remove caulking around said step, paint, and then re-caulk. The did not remove the caulking and instead painted over old torn up dirty caulking resulting in very messy edges. * There are paint drips and rough edges all around my deck and on the side of my house. * They left a mess in my yard, multiple cigarettes, trash from lunch and paint scrapings everywhere. Also had to scrape dripped paint off my patio. Carol, the person managing the job while Thiago (the owner) is supposedly out of the country told me many times they would rectify the issues. She said they would either correct the issues or provide a refund. She said she needed to have Thiago speak with me. We set up a time to call and Thiago did not call or answer my calls. For weeks I tried calling and emailing every other day and heard nothing back. It is shameful how downhill this company has gone. 3 years ago I would have left a positive review and recommended them but there is no way I would now. Despite all the rain we've been getting this year, Thiago and his crew made sure that they got the job done in a timely manner and getting it done right. They added another coat of stain to our deck because Thiago did not think it met their standards even though we thought it looked amazing already! We hired Short Pump Painters to paint our kitchen cabinets as part of a renovation process to our new home. I do not like to leave negative reviews but we were so disappointed and underwhelmed with them. We came to inspect the work of the crew on the day they were slated to finish. As the crew was cleaning up, our project manager sent us the invoice and requested payment. I never should have paid them before I was able to thoroughly inspect the work. Once the crew was out of the way, we noticed several areas of peeling paint, a drawer where the hardware holes had been drilled off center, damage to our BRAND NEW hard wood floors in two places, paint left all over the shoe molding, and dust and paint residue all over the floor in our dining room and living room which were not part of the work area and had not been properly protected despite the fact that they were being used to store equipment. The trouble started when I had to not only point these things out to our project manager but insist that I was correct and have her check twice. To their credit, they sent someone back two days later to fix most of the issues. However, they did not clean up the paint residue in the other rooms, and when I emailed Thiago (the owner) he did not offer any apology for the issues we had experienced and even tried to blame the paint and hardwood floor damage on other contractors (we did not have any other contractors in the house, and were not even living there at the time). I asked him if I should get a quote from our floorer to repair the damage to our floors and send it to him and from there he went radio silent. In the three months since they completed work, we have noticed paint starting to chip from cabinets in several places, and the patch jobs they did later on are beginning to peel again. These painters ruined my roof and broke my window! We hired Short Pump Painters to paint our entire exterior and they sprayed our new roof. They did not use a shield or tarp the roof off so now it looks awful and costs thousands to fix. They "offered" to fix it mentioning this happens all the time (which it shouldn't) and power washed it and it looks exactly the same. They also broke our window and now are refusing to fix it saying they didn't do it. Like I broke my own window for fun? The paint job was mediocre and they didn't patch many areas before painting. I hired Short Pump Painters to paint the 1st floor ceilings in my house. When the crew arrived, I noticed one of the members was wearing her mask below her nose. I made it clear before they entered that masks must be worn inside and the nose needed to be covered. During the time they were painting, I stayed in a bedroom to be out of the way. I came out 3 times prior to their lunch break to check the work and each time, masks were pulled down to the chin. Each time I told the crew lead that masks needed to be worn while in the house. While the crew was at lunch, a supervisor came out. I explained to him about the masks being pulled down. When he left, he did speak to the crew and after that, I did not see masks pulled down. When they cleaned up, they swept some of the floor areas with a rag covered broom. They had done some sanding in the dining room. Swept there, and then swept the rest of the room. A piece of dining room furniture was moved back in place, but the residue from sanding was left without being cleaned first. I didn't notice until after they left, that the sweeping left a streaky film on my floors and I ended up leaving footprints when I walked through the areas. The paint job itself was good. There were areas that I pointed out where paint had gotten on the trim or where another coat needed to be done. Because of COVID-19, the masks not being worn properly caused a lot of stress. If it were pre-COVID, my rating would have been higher. The lack of following my directions concerning the masks (and according to the supervisor, the company says masks are to be worn inside), and doing a very poor job of cleaning up is the main reason for the rating and why I won't hire again. Because the dust from the sanding in the dining room was spread throughout my house, I have to now mop my entire 1st floor, it doesn't come up with vacuuming. read more

We had this team paint 2 bedrooms plus strip, prime, and paint our foyer and bathroom. They did a pretty good job. Pros: Thiago was very quick to respond and came over for an estimate the very day I called him which was a Saturday. He is also very knowledgeable about painting and he made me feel comfortable entrusting him with painting for us since two rooms had a texture to them that needed to be removed which seemed complicated. He had a quote back to us in no time which was a reasonable price and offered a "color consultant" which was included in the price who we ended up using. Keri was very helpful in helping us choose colors. The actual work was pretty good. Certainly beats doing it yourself and the painters seemed to take care not to drip paint. Cons: They ended up taking way longer than they said they would. Started 2 days later than originally told and then a 3 day job became almost a week. It was a bit frustrating because we had originally been told it would be 4-5 people working at a time but it was usually 2-3. Also frustrating because my husband and I were living out of the guest room, using the guest bath, and our foyer was a mess so going up and down stairs was a pain. Kind of wish they worked on one or two rooms at a time so we could have felt less intrusion. The last day they were here was certainly rushed. They came at 7am and left at 7:15pm. Unfortunately it was obvious the final touch ups were rushed. Paint on light switches (that we ended up having to replace entirely), etc. Included pictures where the work was pretty careless. I'm sure if I contacted Thiago he would fix it, but honestly it's not even worth the intrusion again so I'll probably just have my husband try to fix it. All in all, I'm glad we chose painters to do the job. I wish it had taken the 3 days we were originally told and I'm happy with the results other than a couple problem areas. I'm just glad the process is done Update: since posting this review, Thiago did reach out and offered to fix the problem areas. They were prompt when coming by to look at what needed to be repaired and painted, but when the estimate was sent via e-mail by Thiago two days later, I had questions that were never answered. Thiago never responded to my e-mail or voice mail. I was very excited to have my daughter's room painted for her after she and her grandmother spent hours painting her dressers. We picked out the perfect color to go with her new bedspread and dresser. I've spent some time thinking about how to word my review of short pump painters. They painted the dining room, living-room w/ vaulted ceilings, office, guest bedroom, hallway and finally the loft. The only word I keep coming up with is AWESOME! Yes, they took a little longer than projected, so what? They took their time. The guy who did the drywall repair was unreal. He did such a great job. He took 2 days just for drywall and it needed it. Again, not even mad. It looks phenomenal. Thiago and his team painted the entire interior of our house in August 2018. Though you speak with Thiago directly about the project, the painting is done by his team, who were all wonderful-- punctual, extremely hard working, respectful, and sweet (esp to my small children who were always underfoot). A special shout out to Junior, one of the supervisors, who was awesome and addressed every minor issue I brought up. Some cons: The painting took longer than was stated initially, which then interfered with other scheduled home repairs (such as carpet cleaning) and then the last day or two, it became a rush job. I'm also not confident that the paint colors were exactly what I stated-- I requested Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray for walls and Simply White for the trim. The gray I will assume was right but the white trim was a different brand. This was fine for my needs but if you were really picky about the brands and exact shades, I would be careful about checking. Some more pros: I contacted them just last month to ask them to touch up areas that had already peeled and cracked and they came right away and even repainted a bathroom that was being stained due to moisture. Also during the original paint job in August, the team removed four walls of blinds for four sliding glass doors in order to paint. In reinstalling it, the blinds were noticebly bent, damaged, and reinstalled incorrectly. After pointing this out, the blinds were all replaced and reinstalled. I appreciated how they addressed this so quickly and efficiently. Overall, I would definitely recommend them and am holding onto their numbers to pass on to neighbors and friends. read more
