I chose this company based on their online reviews, but after my experience, I seriously question how accurate those reviews are. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper. read more

I want to update my review concerning Smallwood Renovation, Keith the owner of Smallwood Renovation called me yesterday after viewing my concerns about his lack of response on Yelp. Keith could not have been nicer and was very apologetic with their delayed response to a few issues we had concerning the deck they had built for us. He immediately requested that a crew would be out this morning to address everything and the crew showed up and corrected everything and then some. Sometimes customer service is lacking in this country right now, but not with Smallwood Renovation if it isn't right they will do everything in their power to make it right. Thank you Keith and the crew at Smallwood Renovation! read more

High quality deck in my yard. On a complicated slope they helped find a good design that is a great addition to our home.

I love my new deck and the company that built it, they came ahead of schedule which was great. The builders worked under intense heat but got the work done in less than 2 weeks and all were friendly yet very respectful of my property and my dogs. They cleaned everything up before they departed and kept us abreast as needed. John was good to work with & so were Brett & Shanna. Thank you all. I love my outside space. read more

We had a great experience with Smallwood Renovations for the construction of our backyard deck. Lakin was exceptionally helpful through the design process and the whole staff of this family-run business were great to work with. The construction crew was respectful and courteous. They never disappeared for days at a time and always showed up when they said they were going to. There was good communication throughout the construction process, they were quick to correct errors, and it was a clean and organized construction site. We love our new deck and highly recommend Smallwood Renovations! read more

This company is very professional and will do some of the best work. Though that is true, they will unbelievably overcharge you and claim it is of higher quality. I was able to get 5 lower offers from highly rated companies that do great work. I am having my deck worked on right now for a 5th of what Smallwood offered. Enjoy throwing your money away. read more

Smallwood Renovations was an amazing company to rebuild our deck with Trex. Elijah, Tony and Kenny were cognizant of details. Elijah would aways ask us if we had any questions. The guys would always clean up before they left each day. They provided above exceptional work ethics. Our original deck was in bad shape and not to code so they kept us informed what needed to be done. The new deck is now sturdy, safe and beautiful. They suggested adding an extra tread to stairs to make them less steep. We would definitely recommend Smallwood Renovations for future work. read more

We needed a new deck and called two contractors who didn't respond to our calls. I called Smallwood and they came out to discuss our deck within two days. We have had alot of work to our home in the past 44 years. Smallwood is the most professional firm we have used. The crew that build the deck showed up on time and knew how to build our deck according to the plan. We plan to have our porch replaced and Smallwood will be first company we call. read more

Poor communication/ borderline criminal behavior, read the fine print ( if it is there) if you decide to cancel the project 4-5 months before they are even scheduled to do the job, parts/supplies were not even ordered, and you haven't even had a pre-construction meeting. They will keep 25% of the total cost. So if the job is going to cost $ 14,000 and you have to give a $3900 deposit they keep $3500 , FOR DOING ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! BEWARE read more

Smallwood removed and installed new insulated siding. The result looks great. We really liked the workers they were curious and professional. We only had two minor problems. One they did not take good care of my lighting fixtures which I wanted to reuse. The lights were just left on the ground for two weeks and some of the smaller hardware went missing also some of the fixtures were not wired correctly. The other problem was that the pounding on the studs both when removing the siding and installing the new siding created nail pops on the side walls and some cracks near wallboard tape. Both issues were left to us to deal with. We would still recommend Smallwood to anyone having renovations done. read more

Don't bother to call them unless you need three windows replaced. One, or two, isn't good enough for them. Sadly, they are not smart enough to realize that one job leads to another IF you do good work. read more

We selected Smallwood Renovations to build our Trex deck on our new home after talking with Hannah at a home show. The deck looks fantastic, and the construction is first rate. The crew was professional and friendly, and they were always willing to answer any questions I had about the build. The weather wasn't very cooperative but the crew worked diligently to complete the deck, even working in the rain when safety permitted! You don't see that very often. I've always felt that the best way to tell if a customer was really happy with a company is to ask if they would use that same company for another project. In our case, we wouldn't hesitate to give Hannah a call if we need another project taken care of. Smallwood Renovations is now our "go to" company for projects. read more

After receiving several quotes I called Smallwood Renovations. They did a great job, explaining their product and answered all my questions. I don't like a run around, and they were straight and to the point. Gave an estimate on the spot and billed me the same at the end of the job. My roof looks great and I am going to have them do my deck and siding. They are not the cheapest, but I believe that you get mostly what you pay for. Once they left everything was clean and looked great. Wonderful Job! read more

Keith Smallwood was on top of everything. He kept in touch with project start dates and continued to keep me informed during the work on my roof. When the project was done, he met with me and reviewed the work, asking if there were any concerns or questions. Didn't have anything to say as the work looked great. Not only was Keith excellent but when talking with the office staff, their friendliness came through the phone with each conversation. I would definitely use them again for any future projects. Thank you to my neighbor who recommended Smallwood Renovations. read more
