Even a "thanks for calling, we are busy" is a professional touch. Given the limited number of fireplace maintenance folks in town, hoping they reach out and remedy this and I can change my review.

Wooden Sun cleaned electrical junction switches, including wall switch and told me the fireplace was igniting consistently. Was told that further problems might indicate a failing valve...whatever that is. Wooden Sun told me the den fireplace was not generating sufficient millivoltage to light the burner. They cleaned this one too, but said the mill voltage was still low and would recommend replacing the pilot assembly as first step and to replace valve as suggested for living room fireplace. I agreed to replacing pilot light assemblies for both fireplaces. But was told they didn't have parts with them in their truck and would have to return. The service call fee was $165 and Wooden Sun advised me that second service call to bring parts they didn't have with them would be an additional $165 service call fee. I objected to paying for two service fees. I was to that pilot light assembly cost would be $400 each plus service fee of $165 plus labor. The afternoon of their service call both fireplaces stopped working and would not ignite after repeated attempts. I called Tiger Fuel after Wooden Sun would not return to correct their failure to perform and service for my two fireplaces. Tiger fuel replaced pilot light assemblies in both fireplaces for under $200 each, and the fireplaces have ignited consistently since without issue. I would not recommend Wooden Sun as a service repair for gas fireplaces.

Ok, as a new homeowner/quarantiner/plant novice, I have been to Home Depot more over this summer…read morethan I have in my entire life. So far, I believe I prefer this location over the one near Libby only because it's centrally located to other places I need to go. I can park and hit up HD, Target, Best Buy, World Market, and Kohls (yes, Kohls. They have a good selection of toddler clothes, okay!). I do really like how they've expanded their website to carry more than just hardware type of My one gripe with HD? Their pickup service is extremely slow. I cannot with them. You are much better off going in to get the item yourself. Even the pickup desk is wretched. A solid 3 stars.

This place is fine if you don't have to do anything but buy something and ring yourself out or need…read moresomething minor from someone, but if you need anything significant that takes any sort of effort, you might as well just leave and go somewhere else. My gut reaction is that their store leadership is terrible, but the rest of the Home Depots in the Richmond area are just as bad (and some are worse). I've come in here looking for one of the last remaining items in the store several times only to walk out empty-handed because they can't find their own products. Once they get below 5 of anything remaining in the store, they won't have a clue where to find any of them, so you might as well just go to Lowe's or to Ace Hardware. When this happened again recently, I went to Ace Hardware and found what I was looking for with no issues (ironically only two of what I was looking for in that store, and it wasn't a problem at all). And let me tell you, expecting them to deliver large orders is about as hopeless as it gets because they will mess it up, lose it, or damage whatever it is. I've had no less than four deliveries over the past 5 years that have arrived late, not arrived and had to reorder, and/or has arrived damaged. It's clear that their delivery guys just don't care enough to do their job properly. I would say they don't get paid enough to care, but for the results they are providing, they're getting paid way too too much. One moderately large order last year was delivered to a random home 10 miles away for some reason, and that homeowner was angry because they just dropped it and blocked off the driveway (that's what I call two birds with one stone). When I finally got my order, half of the lumber was damaged, and I received NONE of my 10-sheet plywood purchase. They pinned it on the Intown store (probably likely, but it was still purchased through this store), and they transferred me to them. They found my plywood, but it was only half of the order and couldn't find the rest. One of the sheets I did get was damaged, so here we go again. At some point while trying to clear up the issue, the store rep told that the issue was my mistake because I didn't actually order all of the items correctly (despite doing it in the store, and despite me looking at a printed copy of my invoice with the correct items... that apparently she couldn't find). She told me I had to place another order that wouldn't arrive for another two weeks. I placed the order and reminded her that I wasn't happy to AGAIN have to deal with another of their mistakes. In doing so I said "It's complete bulls - - t that y'all can't get your stuff together and I always have to jump through hoops to make it right." She cancelled my order and said she didn't have to fill my order because I used vulgarities, and she hung up on me. I've had whole-order deliveries cancelled without notifying me too. They'll just cancel an order, make no effort to call, and then they say they called and left a voicemail (despite that being 100% "fabricated truth"). I ordered a dog kennel a few years back, and it never made it to me. Over a month after ordering the item, I had to disprove blatant lies the store told an online rep, and once he realized I was telling the truth, he gave me a full refund. A month after that, a 300 lb box 6ft by 3ft was blocking my driveway. Inside the mangled box was the destroyed dog kennel that "never existed." Today they delivered a make-up order of one of their mysteriously-cancelled deliveries (the small items were all delivered last week, but the large items, the six 10-ft-long items I paid $80 to have delivered, they were cancelled, and I had to place another order for those), and the guy today never made any attempt to come down my driveway to deliver the items (10-ft metal drip edge/flashing). He simply propped the item up on my address sign beside the road and left. I have a 500 ft driveway that is plenty wide enough for large trucks (we have them here all the time), and we have a very large turn-around area for trucks by our house, but sometimes the driver will walk down the driveway to check it out. Not this guy today! It was drizzling, so I watched him pull the flashing out of the truck (and bend it all to hell because he didn't know how to lift it), and just leave it beside the road. This store is terrible, and the Intown store is terrible. Maybe the rest in this area are fine, but if you need them to anything more than just exist, go somewhere else.

The salesman Terry showed us options for various open log kits and price ranges. When I described our system to him, he recommended that I call a repair person to see if it was repairable for about 1/5 the cost of a new system. Although we haven't determined it our old system is repairable or not, I want to point out that Terry was not at all the typical high-pressure salesman and suggested what could be a substantial savings. Just thought I'd share our positive experience.

These people are total and complete crooks. DO NOT USE THEM…read more (Long review below that details how they tried to rip me off.) I have two gas fireplaces in my new house. VA Propane said there was a small leak in the line and that I should call this company to fix. Called and promptly received an attitude from the woman at the office. Was told it would be $90 a fireplace for them to service & find the leak. Tech came out. Leak was found and fixed easily. Paid $700 for them to clean/service both fireplaces and come out twice. The tech told me the woman at the office didn't know what she was talking about and that I would be paying $250 a fireplace (which was a discount, because normally they charged around $500 a fireplace). I was then told that one of my fireplaces needed a new part - maybe two - they were not sure - and that each part would cost around $450 (if not more) to replace. (THIS WAS A TOTAL LIE - another company told me these parts cost under 300 and under 100 each - so max total would have been UNDER $400 to fix - not $900). Waited on office person to call back. She left a voicemail that stated that they were unable to get new parts for my (9 year old) Empire system because they were no longer making them. THIS WAS ANOTHER TOTAL LIE. I was told I needed a new system entirely, and to call back for the price. When I called back, the owner answered and told me that they could give me a new system for $1965. I asked why they could not replace the parts of mine, and he said they would "have to order them from Empire" and he was not sure if the new parts would even fix the issue. (I guess he was not aware of my being told they no longer made the parts, which they do). I asked him why it would be $2000 for a new system, when I was told (by the tech) that the system I had was top of the line at $1200. He seemed a bit irritated by my question and didn't know how to answer. So, I went with another company - Gas Fireplace Service of Richmond (804-350-4214). They came out and looked at both of my fireplaces and told me that I needed NOTHING! The electrical connections were a little loose and they adjusted the controls and VOILA! Grand total was $175!!! If you want to be COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF, then go with Guirkin!
