When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked if we were looking for something in particular. We were then efficiently walked over to the aisle housing screwdrivers and told about the different options. They were locked in a case, so we would've needed a staff member's help anyway. Apparently people like to steal screwdrivers, which I never would've guessed. Prices seemed fair, but to be transparent, I don't generally buy tools so I don't really know the going rates. Check out was just as efficient with a couple lines in operation. And the cashier was just as friendly as the staff member working the floor. Everyone was properly masked and social distancing was taking place as well. I would suggest supporting this small business and those like it prior to going to the big box stores.

I've never been interested in plants before quarantine, so everything was new to me. With all of this cooking I've been doing, I thought it would be nice to have fresh herbs at the ready, so off we went. This is the definition of a quaint, local hardware store. There is everything you could need for your home projects plus a little extra, but not much extra. The store is much less overwhelming than the big box hardware stores and the employees were SO helpful. I really enjoyed my experience there, which I never thought I'd say about a hardware store. I also enrolled in their loyalty program and got $5 off my purchase today. Score! Thank you, Pleasants, for providing the community with lawn, garden, and hardware needs for decades and still being a pleasant place to shop!

They have the odd gift item stocked right beside the really functional hardware stuff. I have been going here for several years to buy as much as I can to support a smaller business. I bought a $10 tube of JB Weld from here in March, came home used the JB weld as I've always used JB weld only it didn't set up. Naturally, I had to scrape it off of my pipes so I could figure out the next solution. I even gave it 24 hours, but it had the consistency of wet Play-Doh. So I brought the package back to the store and explained what happened and honestly expected to get a no questions asked store credit or something. Instead, the man proceeded to read the entire package and asked me to bring back the gooey mess. I came home and dug through my trash, but it had already been picked up by the garbage company. It's laughable to me that people lack this much common sense. I have made my last purchase here. I hope the four dollars or whatever profit you made on this was worth it. I have attached pictures of what I was able to find in my trash when I got home as well as the pipe with all of the defective product removed from it. With any luck at least 20 more people will read this review and choose to go to Lowe's instead. Update: I found the used product wadded up in paper towels but won't bother going back to the store.

Kelly at the front is perfect. No notes: she's 5/5 with customer service…read more Terry in the key island? Not so much. Before I even interacted with him, there was a guy with no name tag on the other side of the counter in front of the register, so close I could have tapped his shoulder, who completely ignored me for several minutes. Eventually, Terry came around the corner and asked if I was being helped. I said no, I just need a duplicate key. I followed him to the other side of the island and gave him the house key I was having copied. No sooner had I handed him the key then he took a personal call on his cell phone. He was on his cell phone the entire time the key was being made. I was flabbergasted because given the white ponytail hanging out of his hat, I judged him well old enough to have customer service ingrained in him, but this old-head Terry showed less respect to me as the customer than the average 15 year-old employee I see bagging groceries. He slipped the new key into the bag and handed it to me with no break in his phone conversation. As I walked away, I decided to compare my key with the duplicate Terry had just made. The match was COMICALLY different. My biggest regret is that I didn't snap a picture of it for this review, but suffice to say there's no way the duplicate key would've opened the deadlock I need it for. That's actually very concerning because I'm relying on this duplicate to let me in to someone else's home to feed their cats while they're out of town. The wrong key would make it impossible to feed them. I went back to Terry and he was still on his personal phone call. Seeing me again, he wrapped up with "I love you" which confirms the nature of this call, and gave me the undivided attention that would have spared a revisit in the first place. I held the two keys together and told him I was skeptical the key he had just made would work. He took the keys in his hand, agreed and cut me a new key. When not on the phone, what do you know? he was able to make an identical duplicate. The key was just over five dollars, which feels like a fine value. The only reason I'm doing two stars not one is because Kelly was so great welcoming everyone in and checking out at the register.

I was pleasantly surprised to find everything I was looking for, plus so many other things I didn't even know Lowe's carried. They had totes in different colors, ( Pink ) and I ended up picking up four mini totes. I had no idea Lowe's carried them, and I thought they were absolutely adorable! I also have to give THIS Lowe's major credit for having one of the BEST plant sections I've seen at a Lowe's. The variety was great, but what really stood out to me was how incredibly lush and well cared for everything was. I honestly don't understand how every Lowe's can seemingly source from many of the same growers, ( Costa Farms ) yet the plant sections can look so completely different from store to store. This location was doing something RIGHT! There wasn't a single area where plants were sitting in standing water or obviously being overwatered. I didn't see gnats or little bugs flying around everywhere, and at the same time, I wasn't seeing plants that were completely dried out and struggling because they needed water. Everything looked healthy, vibrant, and genuinely cared for. As someone who loves plants, I really appreciated seeing a garden center that was clearly being maintained instead of just having plants sitting there waiting to be purchased. The store itself was clean, organized, and easy to shop. I used the self checkout, and I also want to give a special shoutout to Zadia in the self checkout area. She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and genuinely willing to assist whenever needed. Great customer service definitely deserves to be recognized! And then there's FRANCINE. There is nothing more RVA than a Lowe's cat becoming an entire citywide community project! If you know, you know. Francine has apparently been shipped out before, and the whole city rallied together to make sure she made it back home. Now she lives at Lowe's, seems completely happy and comfortable, and even has an AirTag! Everyone who came through the store seemed to know exactly who she was, and practically everyone I saw walk past her stopped to take a picture or say hello. She was clearly very loved and well taken care of, and honestly, seeing her just made the whole experience that much better. Overall, I had a really great experience at this Lowe's. I found everything I came for, discovered some cute things I wasn't expecting, got to admire one of the best maintained Lowe's plant sections I've seen, received great customer service, and got to meet the local celebrity Francine. Definitely a Lowe's I'll be visiting again!
