I purchased a washer on 7-28-25 at the Colonial Heights store. I was told by the salesman that the washer could be delivered to my house the following Monday 8-4-25 for an additional $169.00 or I can be picked up on Friday 8-1-25 from the store. I chose to pick it up on the 1st because I needed a washer Immediately. The salesman said they would call me when it came in. Friday came and I never heard anything so I called the store at 2pm and spoke to the salesman again and he said the washer would not be here until Monday the 4th. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my service because I had scheduled help to get the washer into the house on Friday and I had no way of getting the washer in the house on Monday. Again, I was told I could pick the washer up on Friday. The salesman said there must be a misunderstanding. I asked to have a discount on the washer because of the inconvenience and the salesman said he gave me the sale price. The salesman then told me he could give me my money back as a resolution to the problem. I then asked to speak to a manager and the salesman said he would be here on Saturday. I called on Saturday and spoke with a manager and explained the situation again. I asked the manager if they could waive the delivery fee since I had no one to help get the washer in the house and he said he would do it for $129.00. I then said if you could bring the price down to $100.00 I would except that. The manager said he could not do that. I told the manager that I have bought appliances from them before and bought numerous appliance parts but obviously my words fell on deaf ears. I then told him to cancel the order and I would call him back on Monday to give him my credit card information to credit my account. I called on Monday and spoke with the salesman again and gave him my information to return my money. He said he would take care of it. I checked my bank account on Thursday and the money still had not been returned. I called the store again and the salesman said my account was credited on Monday and it may take 2 to 3 days for the money to clear. He said if you don't see the money in your account by Friday to give us a call. I finally got a receipt for the transaction on my phone Friday afternoon. I then called my bank to verify the transaction and they told me that the transaction was actually done on Friday and not on Monday like the salesman said. I know the customer is not always right every time but when you are told that your money has been returned and it hasn't, you can pick your washer up on Friday and you can't. Then you are told you must have misunderstood what was said. If they are willing to lie about when your money has been returned to your account would they also lie about when the washer was supposed to come in? Integrity is everything!!!! I have done business with The Appliance Place for years and I have bought a Refrigerator, Dishwasher and numerous appliance parts from them with no problems. My family has also done business with The Appliance Place before but after this experience neither my family or I will give The Appliance Place our business or recommendations any more. read more

I measured our appliances and took the measurements with us to shop for the replacement of all of our kitchen appliances. They refused to help us and demanded we sign a form stating they would come to our home, properly measure everything then supply us with a guide to choose our appliances. They demanded we pay them $100 to have them do the very same thing we did before we began shopping. Their representative showed up and measured all the appliances with the very same results we had obtained. He told us they would be in touch and provide us with a list of brands and costs. After several weeks we attempted multiple times to contact them but there was no response. We were ripped off by the most deceptive, strong armed tactics we have ever experienced. read more

I purchased a washer and dryer because I have an LG stackable pair that has been broken 3 times in two years. I paid over the phone and they were very helpful. Do not purchase from them. They themselves admit to selling subpar appliances. The head of thier own support group shows up to your house complaining about the equipment and how they don't make appliances like they used to while admonishing you for not washing your dishes before loading them to compensate for a badly designed appliance. I needed a new refrigeration and since I was going from white to stainless, ended up replacing everything - frig, stove, microwave and dishwasher. After trying to get a frig for 8 months from the big box store, I went to the Appliance Place off a recommendation from a friend. I went into the store and a rep was available to immediately help me. He spent a good 30 min with me, looking up different options and showing me around the showroom. Installers were local, from the store. Reviewed bells and whistles of each appliance with me after installation. So 2 months after delivery, my microwave breaks. I worked with Appliance Place for repair. GE rep came out and said parts will be in in 6 weeks! I called AP back. They are replacing microwave in 4 days. EXCELLENT customer service. HIGHLY recommend. read more

Appliance Place provided all of the kitchen appliances when our house was built. Over the years ... we purchased replacements for our washer and dryer ... refrigerator ... and dish washer as well as the occasional service call. Their prices are higher than those for the same products at the Big Box stores but we believe strongly in supporting local businesses. So why only one star? Replacing the dish washer was our last purchase and final purchase from this business. The manufacturer was offering a $50 rebate on the unit; however ... the delivery people forgot to bring the rebate paperwork with them and the deadline for submitting the paperwork was fast approaching. Since time was short ... The Appliance Place said - in writing - they would submit the paperwork for us ... which they did ... but failed to list the correct model and the rebate application was denied. Our complaint to the store's owner about _their_ mistake fell on deaf ears. He said the window to apply for the rebate had closed and there was nothing more he could do (even though Appliance Place was at fault). Caveat emptor! read more

I've found their prices to be more than competitive, usually much, much better than the big box stores. They truly stand behind what they sell. I have spent over $20,000 on appliances bought from the Appliance Place the past 15 years, however, when my freezer went out, they could not send someone to service the refrigerator for 7 days!!! I told them I would pay overtime or whatever it took. My food was thawing out and I needed someone. They did volunteer to bring over a freezer that I could transfer my food. However, I expected service ASAP for a past customer and did not receive it. I was willing to pay what ever it took. It did not work. I later found out I needed a new refrigerator, but will not go back to the Appliance place !!!! read more

This place provides the customer service like we used to get before the "big boxes" took over. I hope I have an opportunity to purchase from them again. Do yourself a favor. Shop around, bring them your list and prices, and ask them if they can come close. The might not be able to beat the prices, but you cannot get this type of service for nothing. I was having an issue with my refrigerator ice maker making a constant noise and not making Ice. I had to pay a $99 charge just to come out to diagnose and the $99 was not going to go towards my repair bill. Technician said he had to order the part. This was in January 2019. After multiple calls back to the store, the tech kept telling me the part was on back order. It is now June 2019 and nothing from them. I called Sears service two weeks ago and they have diagnosed, ordered the part and fixed my fridge already. The $99 service charge I had to pay them went towards my bill. Total ripoff. No intention of fixing fridge. I was about to purchase a new stainless steel refrigerator, gas range,dishwasher and microwave from them for my rental. I can't believe the few petty negative reviews for this business! I have been doing business with them for probably 20 years. They have always been helpful & responsive if I have had any problems. I value their expertise! I have purchased ovens, microwaves, washing machines, dishwashers, etc. from Appliance Place and all those products are still in my house! Excellent knowledge of all brands they sell as well as other competing brands. They actually service all appliances they sell which is almost unheard of. Family owned and part of the Colonial Heights community which is a plus. Love the new Midlothian showroom too. Highly recommend over big box stores. They are the real deal at The Appliance Place. They failed to fix my washer. They also failed to communicate the minimum service charge. The charge to come out and diagnose the problem was $75, and that was communicated to me, but after the technician cleaned out "soap gunk" from a reservoir inside the front of the machine and watched all points of the washing cycle (the whole process took no more than 15 or 20 minutes), the price given to me on the contract was $125. Only after he completed the task did he say that there was a minimum $50 service charge which to me was a little high considering so little work was done. I figured this wouldn't be too big a deal if the "fix" worked, but it didn't. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ran the machine through 3 or 4 cycles, but we had the same issue. I wrote them a message describing the problem and requesting a refund since they did not fix the washer. They called me and described that they could come back out and diagnose the problem for free. I explained that I did not want them to come back out because I already took off time from work for them to come out the first time, and since they didn't fix the problem previously, I would rather just get a refund and use that to go buy a new washer. Also even though they would do the diagnosis free, I knew they were going to charge me more money for whatever the real problem is, and since I can get a brand new washer with free delivery and haul away for $400 to $450, that does not make sense. I was nice enough to offer to buy a new washer through them if they could give me a refund or credit. The service tech called and explained that the manager would not give a refund but would give $30 toward a washer if I bought one through them. After speaking to the manager and explaining to him the situation that I was not happy with a $30 credit, he said he would see what he could do after I gave him the model number of the washer. I called him back with the washer model number, and he ultimately said he would give $20 more in credit and that he was docking the delivery fee even though it is normally $49 (this should not matter if he is trying to match the other stores who are offering free delivery and haul away). Ultimately the price was not any better than the other store. Why would I buy through him with all of the hassle and save no money, when I could just buy it through the other store)? I wrote this review because I gave them the opportunity to rectify the situation, and they could have easily just given me back my $125 or at least half of that (I told them if they couldn't give me a full refund, a partial one would be good), but instead they failed to fix the washer and failed to provide good customer service. read more
