Unfortunately, it took 2+ mins to get hot water. The installers came back multiple times over many weeks trying to fix it -- no luck. In desperation, we called Joseph at Efficient Water Heaters who came out and quickly diagnosed the installation issue. The next day, Omar performed the work and now (finally!) our Navien operates as intended. This business is Navien certified and it shows; they definitely know what they are doing. Oh, and they're very personable & professional throughout. Just call or text them to solve your water heater needs. No need to mess around with anyone else.

Alex sent our technician, Rojo, who helped install a new 40-gallon gas water heater in our indoor utility closet, and he was incredibly diligent, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Installing a tank in an inside closet can be tricky, but Rojo handled the entire job seamlessly in just 2 hours. He replaced everything with high-quality components, including: * New hot and cold water flex lines * A brand new water shut-off valve * A new gas flex line and sediment trap * Fully reworked earthquake straps (to meet California safety codes) * Properly updated T&P line and venting He also took care of the removal and disposal of our heavy 18 yr old tank, leaving the utility closet completely clean. If you want fair pricing, expert specialized service, and a technician who respects your time and home, call Water Heater Masters and ask for Rojo. Highly recommended!

We were replacing a gas water heater with a hybrid electric heat pump water heater. Generally, this…read moretype of heater costs twice as much (price and installation) as a traditional electric water heater, but costs a lot less to run (and therefore you recoup the additional cost in a few years from lower operating costs). I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

We used this company in July of 2026 and they were great. We had been smelling a slight gas smell…read morein our garage for a number of months. The smell was not consistent. It only occurred when the weather was hot. Basically, only summer afternoons. We had PG&E come out repeatedly and they could not find the source. We spoke with plumbers and other heater repair companies. All of them told us that it was not our heater; that we were wrong about the inconsistency of the smell. That gas leaks are only consistent and would not happen only when it was hot. We were told that we must be wrong. We felt like we were going crazy. Until we called Bay Area Water Heaters and Dave came out (with a whole crew). He took the time to inspect our heater and said yes, this slight gas smell on hot days is something he had heard of. It was likely due to an old valve within the control panel. He walked us through our options but ultimately suggested replacing the entire heater. His team was able to do the job right then and there and at a reasonable rate. It was completed within the hour. And sure enough, no more gas smell in our garage. Dave and his team were amazing and incredibly professional. We will be using this company again.

Despite complying with their policy right away, the owner became hostile. He lost his temper, raised his voice, and berated me for how much the cancellation hurt his business. A cancellation fee is meant to cover lost time--it is not a license to yell at and lecture paying customers who are speaking respectfully. Handling ordinary business interactions with this level of aggression and emotional volatility is completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise against dealing with an owner who treats customers this way.
