I usually provide very good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, Cali Pools is truly is not getting a good review from me. They were our pool maintenance company. We terminated them. We asked for a quote to install a pool heater. When we received the quote, they required a 50% down payment. We gave them the 50%. That was months ago. As of this date, they have not installed the pool heater. They started to repair our pool sweep. It needed a very common part, available from Leslie's Pool. As of today, the pool sweep has not had not been repaired. We finally had enough, and fired them. I give a poor review, which accurately represents their level of service. I inherited their service when I bought my house in San Jose. I should have shopped around. What a mistake!! For 4 years I dealt with unprofessional text messages, incompetent billing errors, wiring mistakes, green pool in June, and finally repairing a part that I was never told was broken, no estimate, and $140 an hour labor??? Nope. I paid in full to get the hell out of this scam! The company I hired next was surprised at the toxic levels of my pool ( even told my son he was surprised we didn't get sick). If I could report zero stars, I would. The owner is unresponsive and doesn't think a pool owner knows their own pool. I knew something was wrong with my pool but he refused to listen, refused to come out and check it out himself - instead just sent me articles to read. Well, please see my pool water report attached from Leslie's Pool. Now I need to drain my pool to fix ALL the levels. I will probably get fined by the county since we are in a drought. In addition, Leslie's Pools has instructed us not to get in the pool because we may get blisters due to too much acid. This is absolutely insane! Do not trust this company with your $60K+ investment. Oh and after I terminated my service with Cali Pools, the owner Jon sent me an insulting and seething text. Who wants this type of man in their backyard ?? Cali Pools regularly services our family pool. Their people are nice. They came very week, checked the PH and chemical level and addeed any necessary materials to keep them balanced. Our pools is amazingly clean since we started to use their service. They charge us monthly fee. But if you have to spend time to do other things than the regular water heathy check, you will be charged additionally, such as filter clean. They also provide pool equipment service. I am considering changing my filter pump, which has been used for 10 years. read more

I heard great things about these folks. Really personable, great service, their website even talks about how dependable and reliable they are. Great, what do we need to do to start service? Sign our contract. Okay. They sent it. Service description is limited to 8 bullet points in their 5 page contract. I had a couple simple questions for clarification, like 2X/yr major filter cleaning. Some services cover it, others do not, if not what's the cost? No on will answer the question, not Britany, and certainly Johnathan can't be bothered to get on email or pick up the phone. They could just say they're too busy and not accepting new clients at this time. But no. They choose the "lets waste everyone's time" path. Don't use these guys. Jonathan haggled with me up front for $150 a month for weekly spa service and then told me he would install the clips for my spa cover "no problem." A month later he charged me $50 on my invoice for the clip installation and then his guy proceeded to break two of the clips. He also charged me $145 for a spa flush and then after I paid it, put it on my next months's invoice for $90. I could deal with all of this except I use my spa maybe once a month, and each time I go to get in the spa there is dirt on the bottom of the spa and along the rim. They've been nothing but a headache for bad service. read more

I had an ongoing green pool issue (equip related) and was referred to Cali Pools by Leslie's Pool Supply. The lady in the office was super polite and set up a free consultation with Jonathan a couple days later. He was very knowledgeable - was able to pinpoint and explain each problem. By end of the week we had new equipment installed. Jonathan and his team did an excellent job of not just getting rid of the nasty green, but now it looks better than it has in a VERY long time!
