Well I ordered Tex Mex, will never order again. I am giving 2 stars because the taste is good but it's a greasy mess! This is supposed to be a breakfast dish and this much grease! OMG! I ordered my eggs to be over medium, it came with over easy (I know my eggs it needs at least half a minute more). The dish comes with potatoes (choice of country style or hash brown), bell peppers, black beans. The dish looks confused to be honest. I do not understand why the cook put the oil also in the dish. I mean I can understand the oil used to fry meat has flavor but this is just sautéed vegetables, so why put the oil in this dish when serving! To be fair, the name of the place is "ButterCup", I just didn't expect they put so much emphasis on the "butter"! I will definitely stay away from this "cholesterolCup"! read more

From the broken door hardware, to the to the uncleanliness feel, to the food this place shows signs of a dire need of some sort of upgrade. The only redeeming factor was the service by Nicholas was very good. We ordered a hamburger and grilled Ruben Sandwich. The burger was ordered medium and was delivered to the table very very well done. Actually I would say burnt. Same with the Ruben. Grilled to the point that had the texture of crispy burnt meat. The fruit served with that sandwich was not ripe with the exception of the one grape and strawberry. The only reason this place didn't receive one star was the great service read more

I normally don't do reviews, but I'm the type of person who prefers to see photos of food before I order because it helps me make decisions, and I was absolutely shocked that not a single person on the entire internet had ever uploaded a photo of the incredible macaroni and cheese at this restaurant, on Yelp or on Google. The mac is plentiful. It is cheesy. It is melty. The cream sauce is delicious. Get it with the bacon because they do not skimp. Literally my only criticism is that the noodles were a little too soft for my personal preference, but I know people who absolutely love a soft noodle (and that's okay). Just to round out this review, the ambiance was lovely and our server Paula was perfectly attentive. The staff also made it really easy to split the bill item by item at the end when my group paid at the cash register. We enjoyed a great late lunch at ButtercuP this week, our first time there. Paula answered the phone when we called to ask if there was a wait, and her friendly and welcoming response convinced us to try this totally solid diner. We had a Belgian waffle with eggs and bacon, and a sandwich with grilled turkey, avocado, and cheddar, served with fries. Both Paula, who ended up being our server, and the kitchen staff, remembered our special requests...extra crispy bacon, no seasoning on the fries and no dressing on the sandwich, a side order of mayo, water without ice... Both meals were prepared well and tasted good, and service was excellent. I will be back to try some other options. read more

I discover this place while driving on Clayton Rd. I had to check this place out because it seem like a good place to eat there. I had dinner at this place and my service was GREAT! My server made sure I was doing great...every single time her pass by my table (I have to admit that was beyond great service at that restaurant). I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this location. Each time I come to ButtercuP I always gotten great service. Parking at this location is accessible and plenty of spaces to park at. The inside was 100% clean without any messes at the table and floor. The food at ButtercuP is great...with fabulous choices to chose from the menu. The service at this place is great. All the servers had great attitude and even one who wasn't serving us was kind and brought out refills. We had the sampler appetizer which had 2 mozzarella sticks, potato skins, wings and strips. All of them were over fried. They were extra crunchy and brown. The Belgian waffle was also over cooked. Went to ButtercuP in Oakland for breakfast with a friend and I had the shrimp and grits...yummmm! Literally the best I have had outside of the South. Absolutely no extra salt or pepper needed, perfectly seasoned and a large portion. Their pancakes were pretty good as well. Highly recommend this dish. The service was friendly as well and the restrooms and restaurant were clean; which is very important to me. read more

Blown away this last weekend. We had a large family gathering and figured we'd give it a shot and see if Buttercup could potentially accommodate as it central to several of our guests and we know the food is consistent. We made an excellent choice. We came Saturday evening right at dinner time. They were busy, but our entire party could not tell. We were greeted promptly and drinks came out quick. Manager was lovely and assisted her team with ease. Service is always excellent and the restaurant is always clean looking. The menu has something for everyone . My favs include burgers, the entree salads and the steak and prime rib. We also like the home cooked plates such as meatloaf or roasted turkey platter. Our recent visit, my husband had the roast turkey dinner and it was delicious! Served piping hot and a generous serving of thick turkey slices, fabulous stuffing, potatoes and veges. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was piping hot but not as wonderful as it use to be. so delicious pre-covid. The gravy was watery and under seasoned and there was only chicken and carrots inside the pot pie and little tiny bits of onion and celery- I had hoped for peas and mushrooms and chunkier celery- It has been years since I ordered a pot pie here, and I do think the recipe may have changed. You know what? I LOVE that good ol' Buttercup! There's just no other way to put it. Buttercup is hands down one of my favorite diners around! They are consistent on all levels, and they just never cease to amaze me. I've been here countless times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even on Holidays, and not once have I ever had a bad experience! I keep waiting for the day that they will fail me like how they have in other reviews, but they just continue to impress me every single time. As far as their breakfast items go, just about anything is fair game here. I love their omelettes and their BISCUITS! Oh my! They make a stellar French toast and their breakfast potatoes are always on point! They also have a bar and I love the different mimosas that they come up with. I'm addicted to their house salad! It's just a simple side salad, but I have to get it every time that I go there. I even get it for breakfast. Yes, I'm a weirdo but that salad is delicious! Their entree dishes are exceptional too! Any type of seafood dish served here is a winner. I also thoroughly enjoy their chicken champagne dish. I almost never order chicken entrees from American restaurants, but I will happily order it here. I cannot forget about their amazing PIE! Their banana cream pie is hands down some of the BEST that I've ever have! It ranks right up there with Nation's and y'all know Nations has some delicious pies! I've signed up for their rewards program, and they offer me a free slice of pie every year for my birthday. The service is excellent! Whether I'm sitting in the dining room or at the bar, I've always received the same great service. The staff is super fun and friendly! What I also really appreciate about Buttercup is that they are open on most Major holidays! It's a great option if you don't want to cook at home during the Holidays. We came here for dinner after a day hike at the Lime Ridge Open Space. The restaurant was nice and clean. They have a great selection of various food, salad, sandwiches, burgers, fettuccine...The service was super, they helpfully split bills for our group, and the bill came with a QR code that I was able to easily scan and pay. I ordered the Mushroom Onion Burger with curly fries. The meat was fresh but the burger was not very tasty, the curly fries were a little bit too salty for me.
