Croissant

We stopped by for some croissants & cookies. The cafe was adorable & smelled like browned butter on the way in. I got a chocolate pastry & a croissant. The pastry was as delicious as the picture looks and the pastry wasn't too flakey yet not soggy I was in heaven! Ordering was easy and fast. Can wait to go back & taste more.

Wow! The food is so freaking fresh & delicious. If I didn't live so far I'd eat here every day . The staff is so nice.

Another amazing trio to butter block! We love this place so much! Honestly it's good it is a bit of a trip for us or we would come every day

Stopped in to pick up an order of blueberry bread, it was late afternoon so it was slim pickings. Had seen reviews on the croissants so I got an almond & a pretzel one. Almond croissants are my go to and it didn't disappoint but I will say the pretzel one was a pleasant surprise. They are buttery and flakey. I could have done with a little less salt on the pretzel one but that's me. The bakery is on a corner and real cute inside, it's all on street parking so be prepared to walk. The staff is all friendly and helpful. The blueberry bread reminded me more of a danish pastry than bread. It was more of a cross between bread and pastry, not really a bread like consistency but not overly sweet. Really good!

As someone who makes it a point to try croissants everywhere I travel: Spain, France, Portland, San Francisco... you name it. I don't say this lightly: Butter Block is easily the best bakery in Buffalo. Are they the best in the world? No. But for Buffalo? They're doing it right. The laminations, the flakiness, the balance of flavors: you can tell there's real technique and care behind everything. The almond croissants are rich and perfectly filled, the éclairs are smooth and not overly sweet, and the pain au chocolat has that ideal crisp, buttery bite. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here... which is why my go-to move is just getting one of everything. It's also the kind of place where you bring a box to friends or family and immediately become everyone's favorite person. And don't skip the latte, it ties the whole experience together. A solid 5/5 when it comes to food, ambiance and service. If you love bakeries and appreciate a good croissant, Butter Block is a must in Buffalo

Still thinking of the croissant I had and how it was buttery and soft. The staff were so fun and nice - no wonder why the line is so long!

The desserts are very good and I enjoyed them, but I dont know if I chose the best of what they have available. I wasn't blown away but I did enjoy most of the items we bought. The croissant was flaky, buttery and was filled with hazelnut chocolate cream and topped with hazelnuts. Every bite was delicious. The macaroon looked amazing but I found it to be a little dry. I was expecting the middle to be a little more "sticky" I guess. The pop tarts were good. They are more like a hand pie with a buttery style pie crust. The almond raspberry tasted like a shortbread almond cookie that I make for Christmas. The brownie was chewy in the middle and dry on the outside like a corner piece of a brownie. I'd have to say overall it was very good.

Gluten free Oreo, cookie, berry poptart and croissants

Wow - this bakery lives up to its name! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The line was out the door on a Sunday morning so go early and be prepared to wait - it is so worth it. We had a gluten free Oreo, a cookie, a poptart and some croissants - very very good!

Chocolate peanut butter Pop-Tart - deep chocolatey flavor with crunchy peanuts

Picked up one of their treats from Farmshop Bakery in Buffalo and had to share because they absolutely nailed the infamous Pop-Tart. I tried the Buffalo Sabres edition, a chocolate peanut butter filling topped with blue and yellow sprinkles - and it was so good. The pastry was perfectly buttery, flaky, and rich without feeling too heavy, while the filling was next level: deep chocolate packed with peanut pieces for the perfect crunch and salty-sweet balance. It somehow felt both indulgent and comforting at the same time. I could easily eat these every weekend and feel zero guilt - life is too short not to enjoy the good stuff. Here for all the gold and blue treats in honor of the Sabres!

I don't regret stopping in here on Sunday! The bakery has a small seating area which was quite busy. There was a line about 10 deep which went pretty fast. Everybody was working very hard. Everything looks amazing! I ordered a bunch of different treats to try and nothing disappointed! I highly recommend!

This may have been THE BEST almond croissant I've ever had, and I've had a lot of them! I stopped by on a Saturday morning because I've heard this was the place for pastries. The moment you drove by, you could smell the butter wafting in the air. The display was incredible, and I may have gotten more than I should have ^^" Usually when I get almond croissants, there's space between the top and bottom layers because the filling is sparse. This croissant had ample, even filling all the way through, and made for a very nice eating experience. I also got the plain croissant, the morning bun, and the pesto/tomato danish. Laminations were on point and the butter was definitely there! I also got the eclair, which had good structure and a beautiful custard cream on the inside. The brownie and the cookie were also amazing!! I'm going to recommend this place to anyone I know who's heading to Buffalo :) Also, I came back to try the matcha: probably one of the best matchas I've had in WNY, would go out of the way to get it!

What is there to complain about when it comes to a cute French bakery??? This place is literally PERFECT. Nestled right next to my succulent plant obsession Urban Roots, it's in the perfect location. BUT you'd better get here early bc the pastries literally FLY off the shelf. My favssss are the Morning Bun, Kouign Amann, and the savory ones they have occasionally! The interior is also soooo cute and I love how you can see the bakers in the back ‍ 10/10 spot!

Elayna H.

My favorite bakery in buffalo! I always get the chocolate croissant, because it's perfection, but everything that they have is delicious. Plan to wait a little bit, but the line moves quickly and it's worth it!

It is rare that I'm out on a Wednesday mid-morning with my husband. But this Wednesday found us out…read morecaravanning for car repairs, which is a total downer. So we stopped for Tim Horton's to at least make a little lemonade out of lemons, and enjoy a hot beverage together. Which brings me to Wolter's. We stopped at the Tim's in the same plaza parking lot as Wolter's, and had our Tim's in a spot facing Wolter's. Had that not happened, I'd still not know that Wolter's exists. Because tucked away in this eclectic plaza is their bakery, and it is easy to miss. So to continue our caloric-self-soothing, we walked over to Wolter's. It is a small bakery, but not tiny, big enough for us to be in the counter area with two other patrons, and still be spaced out. Next to the counter is an adorable seating room that looked like a grandma's living room, which also, not surprisingly, seemed to be occupied by adorable grandmas. When we're back into eating in, I definitely want to join them one morning. I have greys and readers, I'll blend. :-D The counterspace has a sizable display case with LOTS of baked goodies: breads, rolls, pastries, donuts, danish, fritters, cupcakes, pies, cakes, cookies, specialty baked goods--no carb-or-sugar-shortage here! I asked the counterperson her favorite, and she of course said it is all good, but the almond rings are their specialty. We didn't want a whole almond ring, but we were in luck to still be able to sample their signature flavor. On Wednesdays, they have sticky buns, one of which is an almond ring variety, with the same filling and icing. We purchased one of those, a cinnamon roll sticky bun, an almond horn, and an angel cream donut. The bill was $5.46--WOW, great deal for four homemade baked goods, so we're off to a great start! Back out to our car we went, to continue sipping our Tim's and try our Wolter's selections. The hubbs ate his cinnamon bun first, and said it was good. When it was my turn to commandeer the bag, I went for the almond ring sticky bun, and ... WOWWW-WOWWW-WEEE-WAHHHH!! What a DELICIOUS treat! Now, I ADORE anything flavored with almond extract, LOVE that cherry'ish taste, and this bun had LOTS of it, all in the best possible way. The icing and the pastry cream filling were just the right amount of almond-extract-flavor-heaven. The sweet almond slivers on top added a little crunch dimension. Pure YUM. Next the hubbs and I shared the almond horn, and again WOWWZA--again, that fantastic almond extract flavor I adore. But beyond that, the texture was just perfect! It was a soft, chewy cookie with a solid coating of sliced almonds that was a delightful crunch into the sweet innards. SO GOOD. We were so full by then, after Tim's bagels and these sweets, that we brought the donut home to our son. He ate it in like 30 seconds. So it must have been pretty decent, too. :-D SO HAPPY to have discovered Wolter's today! My mom's birthday is on Groundhog's Day, so this timing was great! I'd like to bring my mom in on her birthday to select some goodies, as she too is a sweet-tooth, and will have no problem picking an assortment of treats from Wolter's. If you haven't tried Wolter's yet, and want to snag a spread of homemade sweet treats, I five-star-HIGHLY recommend you stop by! I may be with the grandmas in the sitting room. :-D

Just as I was about to go in the place must have caught fire. Yikes! A man was leaving the bakery with as many loaves of bread as he could carry. I investigated. Sure enough, the store was filled with firemen. I couldn't get in. It turns out the firemen were buying a lot of baked goods. Whew! And the guy carrying all the loaves of bread was a caterer. He bought 50 loaves of Luigi's delicious bread. He explained he was catering a 50th wedding anniversary, and the celebrants wanted a loaf of Luigi's bread for each of their 50 years. I'm not kidding! I bought only 4 loves of bread. They were out of my favorite - sesame seeded Italian so I had to go with plain. They have a trick with their bread. They don't use preservatives, so you have to eat it within 2 days and then go back for more. It's a trap! They were out of almond and poppy seed strudel thingys, so I settled for apple, blueberry and cherry. I tried the lemon cake and it's great. But my favorite thing was the almond cake. Absolutely dreamy. It didn't make it home because I stopped at a friend's house on the way home to share some. All I got was just one slice. And I ate that before I had a chance to take its picture.

Cuccidati Inc. had a booth at the event ... and they had me at the word "cuccidati". :-D LOVE these cookies! If you are unfamiliar, cuccidati are iced-and-sprinkled fig-filled Italian cookies. They're like a soft, delectable, gourmet, top-shelf, high-class, prettier Fig Newton, but way better, haha. Whenever I see an Italian cookie spread at a gathering, I always b-line for dibbs on the cuccidati. And Cuccidati Inc.'s cuccidati did not disappoint! These were a bit different from cuccidati I've had before. They weren't quite as sweet, not as thick-white of an icing as usual. And the filling seemed more natural, like more purely fig, as opposed to the more artificial extract flavor of some cuccidati. I do like the creamier cuccidati filling I'm used to, with more of a jam consistency. But these were good too, you could feel chewy bits of real fig fruit in each bite. If you prefer a cookie that isn't too rattle-your-teeth-sweet, you will probably enjoy Cuccidati Inc.'s cookies very much. We spoke with the owners when we were at the fresh-air market, and they were very sweet and friendly. They of course bake their namesake, but also bake many other cookies too. They don't have their own storefront, they sell by order, or at local venues and events. They are on the shelves at Buffalo Artisan Food Traders (https://www.yelp.com/biz/buffalo-artisan-food-traders-buffalo), so if you have a hankering for some delicious cuccidati, stop by there to grab a pack.
