I'm caring for a teacup Maltese who very badly needed a bath and a trim, so I did some research and found this place. I was able to make an appointment on Thursday afternoon for Friday at noon, I was glad because I honestly thought I would have to wait a week to have him smelling fresh and looking handsome again. I dropped him off with the groomer who was a very friendly middle aged woman and clearly a dog lover. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she said it was do-able. I was called to pick him up about an hour and a half later and as I entered and saw little Peanut and I was shocked, he looked like a contestant on the Westminster dog show. I was a little flustered trying to control little Peanut who was excited to see me while trying to pay for his grooming, luckily enough the cashier was kind enough to hold him while I fished out my wallet and handed her the money. All in all this was a great experience and Peanut looked happy so I know that they took good care of him at the Bushwick Bark, I'll be coming back here again. read more

We've been waiting for a pet store like this one in our neighborhood! The Loom has one, but Bushwick Bark is definitely a welcome addition to our block. The owner is super friendly and also told us she'd put in an order of our cat's specific food (he's got tummy digestion troubles) when we mentioned it. The doggy shower in the window is a nice touch. I came in for the first time today and I was very pleased. Both the girl and the guy at the front desk were super lovely and so welcoming. I brought my cat in for the first time to get her nails trimmed and it was such a quick and easy process. they only charged $10 for a nail clip which i thought was great. They also carry lots of healthy cat food and all the products that I need for my adorable cat. I will def be back :) read more

Boyfriend picked up and dropped off the dog. They gave her a hightop fade aka round faced which I despise and thought sending him with pics would help BUT alas that can be worked out because everything else was GREAT! They sent him home to me with the diva( the dog) with samples, tips and a dog without injuries !! The groomers are great, the one Buttercup and I went to handled her very well considering she screeches when someone tries to clip her nails. After it was all said and done my pup was very happy. What happened to the staff?? I feel like every time I go back in they lose more and more people of color as to where last year most of the staff was diverse it's now mostly white previous staff was attentive, caring,knowledgeable they would see us at the door know us and our dog and always have something nice to say where is the owner?? she used to be around a lot before and now all you see is her posting on the Instagram page about all her outings while her staff is hard at work during a pandemic I haven't seen her once working during this pandemic it's very unfair maybe that's why the staff is leaving!! For a small business that boasts about very community oriented don't you think the staff deserves a supporting hand from the owner?! Skip this store and shop somewhere in the community that cares about their employees and helps them out instead of leaving them to do work alone during such a tough time. YES, YES, YES! I'm an new dog mom who wants to do right by my dog. I want to give her the best food, the best vet & the best groomer & everything in between. I searched for groomers in my area & I came across this one. Majority of the reviews are positive so I said why not!? I called to schedule an appointment but unfortunately I was told they were booked until next month. Despite the disappointing news I still wanted to check out the place so I went later that same day. To my surprise when I walked in I was told someone canceled their appointment & they have a slot for tomorrow morning! While I agreed to take the slot someone called in for the same slot. So as you can imagine this business is high in demand. I arrived about 15mins before my appointment so I talked to some of the staff while waiting for the groomer. The groomer was late but it was raining that day & life happens so she gets an pass from me. They're all incredibly nice & informative. Nothing but positive vibes. My groomer was CARALINA!? She was nothing but delightful. She listened to what I was looking for added a few great points & together we came up with an plan. I left feeling confident my baby was in great hands. I received an call stating she'll be ready in 15mins, Once I got there CARALINA was holding her and she looked absolutely great!!! CARALINA asked if I was 100% happy and once I told her I would like my dogs hair cut a little shorter she said no problem & fixed it right away. Despite having her next client waiting. I came here to get my ferret food once a few months ago. This place is packed with all the dog and cat food that you can ever imagine. All the food is great quality and the prices are good. They have Stella & Chewy's, Primal raw, Wellness, Orijen, and more. Dry, wet, or frozen, they have it. They're super nice and take card or cash. We recently adopted an 8 month old puppy on short notice, and so we've been frequently popping in to Bushwick Bark for the past 3 weeks to pick up supplies to get her settled. The staff are all incredibly helpful and are always excited to see Ziggy. She loves the attention she gets there. In addition to the basics, BB keeps Ziggy stylish. We got a LoveThyBeast carrier from there, which I LOVE. It's a great alternative to lugging around a full on carrier if you're dog commutes with you. Bushwick Bark is the best pet store I have ever been to! The service is great, very welcoming and personal. Ever since I went in for the first time, I have been buying everything for our dog here. Our frozen food is now automatically on order every few weeks and I don't even need to call in before we run out. Dottie, the store owner, keeps track of it for us without me asking for it. When we need something special, she orders it for us and sends us an email when it is ready for pickup. Can only highly recommend this store! Took my little havanese to be groomed here. The groomer did an amazing job! She even trimmed both her front paws to match (one paw had been shaved at the vet recently). It didn't even occur to me to ask for that. Now they'll grow in evenly together. She did exactly what I wanted leaving the face and tail long and full and trimming the body just right. Very pleased and will definitely go back. While waiting to drop off I watched a handful of clients come in to pick up various things. The folks working here knew all of them and their pets by name. It is definitely a neighborhood place. My dog is normally kind of traumatized when I drop her off places but she seemed happy when I got her. The groomer must have been very good with her. So happy I found this place after some not so great experiences elsewhere. read more

I make a point to buy all the dog treats, poop bags and other supplies for both my boyfriends pet-friendly record store and for my dog walking/boarding business exclusively at Bushwick Bark. As the proprietor of another dog-related business it's important to me that my doggy supply store cares about what they do and Bushwick Bark goes above and beyond. Not only are they helpful and carry high-quality toys, food and other products but I always see posts online about local residents adopting through/in the store and other posts about missing pets (to help unite owner with pet). Bushwick Bark sells things, yes, but they also have managed to create a community based around the idea of loving your favorite animal. And that is what makes them so wonderful. read more

When I moved to Brooklyn I was really worried about finding a place to get my dogs nails clipped since she refuses to let me do it. Luckily Bushwick Bark is only two blocks away and they are amazing! The staff is great and they're always handing out treats to any dog that comes by. This place is AWESOME. I love stopping in. The owner Dottie is so warm and friendly, I end up staying to chat every time I go in there. It's so great to be able to get healthy, natural dog products without having to go far. Washing the dogs there is also incredibly convenient and easy. As a bonus, there have been cats from empty cages at the shop that are up for adoption. It's great that she is working with them to help find homes for so many animals! Bushwick Bark is my absolute favorite pet store. The store itself is well-stocked with a variety of unique, high-quality pet supplies at reasonable prices. While the stock is great, the best park of BB are the people who work there. The owner, Dottie, could not be lovelier. She's always so kind and willing to help her customers. She's absolutely devoted to the animals under her care and she's incredibly knowledgable about the line of products in her store. Dottie is the first person I'd go to with any pet-related questions. Seriously, this lady knows her stuff. Please ignore Amanda R.'s totally ridiculous and absolutely unfounded comments. Her words are obviously the delusions of a very bitter lady who is seemingly totally divorced from reality. Dottie and BB have ALWAYS been so welcoming to the LGBT community, to suggest otherwise is ludicrous and disgustingly disingenuous. Bushwick bark is one of the best pet stores I have ever been to. They treat henry like a king whenever I stop by to say hi, even if I'm not buying anything. They are very much apart of the dog community here in bushwick and if they don't have a certain product in their store they will do their best to get it for you. They also will deliver your food at no extra charge which is also amazing. Dottie is a great owner and I only hope they are around for quite a long time. I am trying to make a grooming appointment for our dog - we just got her last May and I didn't like our first groomer so decided to look elsewhere in our neighborhood. This one is the closest with the best reviews. I called the business twice with no answer. The phone just continued to ring without a way to leave a message. I decided I would email them only to receive a reply that they don't handle grooming requests over email and to call them. I replied that I tried to call but no one will answer but I left my number on the email for them to call back. It has been a few days and still no response or call. Very disappointed as I was hoping to support a local groomer. read more

The girl at the counter was nice but the groomer even though he was nice as well, I don't think he is knowledgeable on all dog coat types. I took my Australian Shepherds there for a grooming and he ruined one of my dogs coats, both the under and top coat. I wanted their fur cut short because they get really hot in the heat but he buzzed their coats beyond short. I didn't think it was a big deal because hair grows back, right? Wrong, when their coats finally grew back to a normal length, the one with a coarse, wavy coat lost all of her waves and shine. Now it's just a frizzy mess all over. He permanently damaged my dog's coat. There is no way to repair the damage! Is this groomer even certified?! I should have asked that beforehand. This groomer is not a professional, he does not know what he is doing. Friendliness does not make up for the fact that he permanently does damage to dog's coats. Find a groomer who knows what he is doing. I recommend anywhere else. Wish I could give no stars. read more

I took my puppy here to get his nails cut and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They kept complimenting how well behaved my dog was which made me feel great since I have been spending a lot of time trying to train him. I will be taking my dog back to Bushwick Bark. :) read more
