I stopped by here while I was shopping and it was very good. Service was friendly as well as the steak salad. I will definitely be back

Our server Kathie was attentive and very pleasant. Food was delicious. Only disappointment was we sat almost in the kitchen.

Very quick and prompt service. Food was excellent! Worth the trip and the price. I will be back very soon.

Life's funny. We ad- lib more than direct our own individual sitcoms where new characters appear and fixed characters get axed. Over the years, the whole lineup changes. Certain characters reappear and make our show worthy of syndication to the point where we can watch the re-runs in our heads. I went to Burton's Grill in Hingham last night with one of those characters. We sat at a high leather booth that allowed us a view of the kitchen and most importantly the grill. I watched my 9 oz filet turn with fire surrounding it to get the perfect cross hatch marks that define presentation. My co-star in this episode opted for a plain burger and fries. No cheese , no nothing. Meat meet bun. To each their own.... My steak was perfect. Red and warm in the center. It needed little force from the blade before parting like Moses had just slammed his staff down before it. No bearnaise sauce? No problem . Butter please? Mashed and broccoli came with. Without the a la carte add on to the bill. Reasonable pricing and food cooked well is what we got. I wonder how my sitcom would rate on the Neilsons. read more

Has gone downhill in the last several years. Food just OK. For what they charge should be much better.

Picked this place because of their gluten sensitive menu. This place is unbelievably good. Staff is awesome. Food even better. Well worth the price. We'll definitely go back. read more

Terrific Easter dinner tonight! Hubby greatly enjoyed the pork chop (tender, tasty), daughter loved Salmon Romesco (just the right slight kick), and I devoured the crab cake with yummy slaw and subbed in the broccoli. Finished up with delicious Key Lime pie. Great experience! read more

I do very like this restaurant and it is for a nice, family dinner. It is pretty fancy and not the best for kids, although it does have a kids menu. I went for Mother's Day for two years in a row and it was ok but it tends to get pretty crowded on a daily basis. read more

My go to place for gluten free dining. The kitchen, waitstaff, and management takes allergies VERY seriously and has a huge selection of gluten free options. The GF menu also features vegetarian and paleo options. read more

Came in on a Friday around 4pm. We sat at a hightop close to the bar. There were a few couples at the bar and a couple at another high top. My husband and I sat and waited for over 15 minutes for someone to come over. We had our order ready as we didn't have a lot of time to sit and eat. As we waited more people were sat and waited on, waitresses came out to give to go orders and collect checks around us. Not once were we acknowledged. There were many staff members on and the place was not busy, there was absolutely no reason for anyone to have to wait, even if it was just someone coming over to say hi and that they'd be right back. My husband and I decided if that was the beginning of our visit then how much better could it get so we decided to leave. The hostess told us to have a good night, without even noticing that we were never helped. We let her know the reason we were leaving and went on our way. I hope a manger will see this review and put it to use to better train their staff because each time we are in the establishment we hear problems from other patrons, we've just never experienced it until today. read more

Worst meal ever!!! An hour plus from ordering and I was served raw pasta. Pleeeese! The room looks nice, but no chef should have let my meal past the line, nor allow it to take so long. read more

My go-to restaurant on the South Shore!! Amazing food and great service! The drinks are always great and the food is just delicious! It's upscale, and prepared thoughtfully, so don't expect a "cheap" meal! The menu has a ton of awesome choices and they even have a Paleo section! read more

Was shopping at Derby Shoppes when my daughter and I decided to try Burtons. Absolutely delicious! We had the artichoke spinach dip, wonderful. She got the chicken sandwich and I got the cheeseburger. Everything was fabulous, including the service. Spotless, as well. Excellent sangria. We will be back. read more

Restauranteurs, managers, and waitstaff, take notice. This is how it is done! My first visit to Burton's was last night. We had a couple of drinks and my girlfriend ordered a dessert; key lime pie. The manager, Lisa, was walking by our table and looked at the dessert (which looked fine to us). She abruptly stopped and said the key lime pie did not look like it set-up correctly. She took it away and returned with a gift-card for our next visit. She and the waitress, Alana, apologized and said that Burton's prides itself on quality. They could not have been more nice and professional. We were both in awe at the attentiveness, even on a really busy night. Top notch! read more

Solidly very good food... great staff... great drinks... upscale a bit but still casual & family friendly

One of my favorite spots in Derby. The food, drinks and service is always up to par. It's always busy for a reason but well worth the wait!

As usual Burtons Grill & Bar of Hingham, never disappoints. They have the most fantastic wait staff. They are friendly, accommodating and the most pleasant folks. The food is always terrific. I dine at Burtons Grill & Bar of Hingham quite often, it is my favorite place on the South Shore read more

Had the salmon burger here and it was a decent size; generous amount of grounded salmon meat. I was surprise to find out that the salmon burger isn't served on a bun, but in a naan like pita wrap. The only problem I had with the salmon burger was that it was too bland. It needs more flavor and kick. I would recommend that they marinate the grounded salmon meat, or add a flavorful sauce in the burger. I also had the Trio (3 sample desserts), and I would say the dessert special call "Blonde" was the best, it's this caramel like cream pudding YUMMY! The second best dessert in this Trio sampler is the chocolate cake, which has a perfect balance of bitter dark chocolate and sweetness. My least favorite dessert in the bunch has to be the blueberry cheesecake. The cheesecake blueberry syrup purée is way too sweet and overpowering, also very messy to eat. read more

Always great service & good food (including the bread & butter) and you can ask for special requests (ie., for allergies or cooked in a different way or substitutions). If you don't like a busy place (because it's so good), go earlier or later than lunch or dinner hours. Enjoy! read more

have had this waiter before but was never this bad.. dan spilled water all over my mother and did not even offer to clean it up. forgot our drinks, forgot to even ask for them we had to ask for them with our food order, was incrediblly slow getting anything. i dont mind waiting but the waiter was so oblivious and didnt seem to care read more

My fiance and I have labeled this our go-to spot in the south shore. Their entrees are all solid, chicken, fish, beef etc. I always get the burgers which are excellent. I recommend getting an extra side of pickles as they are really well done here. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Really busy on the weekend dinner hours so reservations are strongly recommended. Points for being in a great shopping center with a whole foods near by for some after dinner shopping. *An update: I had to come back and give Burton's another star. The service is just so outstanding. We were here on a Monday recently for dinner and decided to try their Oyster special ($1 oysters on Mondays). The manager noticed our oysters were on the small side, so he personally delivered a few extra oysters for us on the house. Add that to their prompt response to my annoying little requests (extra ketchup, extra pickles, we want more! we want more!) These guys are great, delicious, and deserve every star! read more

I've been here multiple times and they have both great service and great food. I've never ordered a "bad" dish here. my favorites are: -Club sandwich: So simple but yet soooo good! -Burgers! ALL OF THEM read more

This is my favorite restaurant and my family's go-to dinner place. We are never disappointed with Burton's and always leave happy and full! The service at Burton's is incredible and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and no matter what we get, we always love it. Would definitely recommend Burtons! read more

As a former restaurant professional, I had high hopes for Burton's, unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. The hostess was pleasant, and we were shown to our table almost to the minute of our reservation. The booth was set for four, and we were only two. The host explained the "scratch kitchen" concept and left... leaving the two extra place settings. Waitress came and went, and still the places swttings remained. So I stacked them on the edge of the table. Apps came and were eaten, and now those dirty dishes remained on the edge of the table while our waitress, the bus boys, and what I perceived as a manager, passed by many times. Finally a waiter from a different area was walking by and took the dirty dishes. Of course he left the two extra, stacked on the edge, place settings. I am not interested in naming the server, it was 6pm on Sat. night, but it was apparent a little more training was warranted. Now for the food: The Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls were ok... but they tasted like subs. So many promising adaptations could be made, yet the steak and provolone made for a pedestrian offering in a eatery whose prices promise excellence. However they were cooked very well, non greasy and cheese melted to perfection. Land and Sea (aka Surf and Turf). A crab cake that was a little loose in consistency and mediocre in taste. And a fillet mignon that was OUTSTANDING. One of the best I have ever had. Shrimp Scampi. High price, low on taste. The shrimp were overcooked to the point of rubberiness. Whole dish bathed in ground cheese. This was a huge let down as it is a standard coastal dish, and one every saute cook has to be able to cook in his sleep. In short, as a cook, I don't feel this place justifies it's pricing.... Except for the Filet.... if you have to go... get the filet. read more

First time dining here and will be back! The gluten free menu was HUGE and so well laid out. Everything my fiance dined on came on a square plate, and the foccacia bread with herbed butter was warm and tasty. Our server Elaine recommended wine for us, walked us through how Burtons handles allergies, and was patient and attentive with us. We took some time to order, as everything sounded so good, and she allowed us ample time for our decisions. Food was amazing, everything we ordered was fresh tasting. RISOTTO IS AWESOME HERE. The manager even passed by to assure us about the allergy procedure which was a great touch. Even the desserts were delicious, and many gluten free options there as well. It is a tad pricey, but for a nice celebration (in our case birthday) or if you are looking for high quality food and service it is worth the price. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Asked for vegan oppositions and manager came to table. We received no bread, for $17 I received bland pasta with pea pods and zucchini. My friend got a salmon burger that was tasteless. Best part of the meal was my friends cucumber salad. Will not be going there again. read more

Arrived at 6 on a Friday evening to a packed house with a 90 minute wait forecast. Told reservations were accepted even for party of two. Rare. Duly noted. We were then pointed to some bar seats about to become available and we lucked out. Excellent service, excellent drinks, excellent food. Cannot say anything but good things about Burton's. We will be back! read more

I do like to go to Burtons but I wonder if it depends on the chef who is working that night. One time I went, I loved the food, then the next time I went it was okay but not worth the price. I will say the wait staff has always been very pleasant and attentive. read more

My wife and I visited Burtons Grill on her birthday one Monday afternoon and we were shocked to see the crowd that was on hand at 2:00. The general manger, Steve, is truly a professional and our waitress, Danielle, was over the top! Our lunch was great and their kindness to show my wife a nice time on her birthday was very appreciative! She had the salmon which was perfectly cooked and served with her choice of sides of broccoli and a cucumber salad. I had the chicken sandwich and cole slaw, which again was perfect and to die for. We love this place and can't wait to go back! Thank you Danielle & Steve!!! read more

Awesome! Perfect children's menu for little picky eaters. Great for grow ups too. Yum!

How can a restaurant accept a reservation for 6 people, then turn you away when you arrive 10 minutes early with the lame excuse the person taking the reservation made a mistake and made it for 4 people! We were told we would have to wait for a table of 5 to finish before we could be seated. Inexcusable! Not the first time that the front desk has been less than inviting. And this was at 4:50 in the afternoon! Needles to say, we left, read more

Burton's has become me and my husbands go to place when we want a casual delicious dinner. We usually try and make a reservation as you will have a wait if you don't. Restaurant is cozy and staff is super friendly. I love how there is always new specials and they tell you the special prices after the descriptions. It being Lent and not eating much meat we were looking forward to a good burger, my husband usually has it here and raves it is his FAVORITE burger ever. I typically go for the Mediterranean Chicken or Shrimp Feta Pasta..but feeling like beef I went ahead for the burger, boy was I glad I did! The burger was perfectly cooked as when I ordered they even made sure I was okay with the red inside etc. Meat is not greasy nor are the onion strips, lettuce and tomato were fresh and the homemade Burton's sauce (almost like a Big Mac sauce) is so good! The fries were hot and crispy as well. I just needed to share my love with Burton's here so you can fall in love with it as well. Oh, I almost forgot their bread and garlic butter is a carb party in your mouth! Enjoy ! read more

Absolutely love Burtons. Food is always so fresh and delicious. I love how they have a paleo menu with healthier options as well. Service is great /fast and the employees are friendly. We have always liked Burtons but no more! I ordered a burger with bacon on top but it was delivered RAW--uncooked--NOT undercooked. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress she told me it was not raw it was just not well done. She said the kitchen cooks bacon for varied tastes and you can't please everyone. When the manager brought over a plate of cooked bacon I showed him a piece of the RAW bacon that hadn't made it back to the kitchen. He had the same excuse. Now I was very careful to send back the bacon with a smile because you don't want to make enemies in a restaurant. But the management and wait staff were inconvenienced and rude. Anyone could see it was raw. So we really were surprised by this. We have always enjoyed Burtons but won't be returning. There are plenty of other enjoyable restaurants to patronize. read more

I was very pleased with the service. The wait staff was very accommodating. Great choices of food. Good atmosphere.

Best gluten free menu I've ever seen!!!! Gluten free options range from GF buns all the way to crab cakes!! I travel 30 minutes just to get their GF crab cakes. The regular menu is also incredible. Service is good, nothing outstanding. read more

I like Burton's! The steaks are consistently very good, possibly the best quality steak restaurant on the South Shore. I have dined at Burton's Grill maybe a dozen times in the past two years and have always ordered steak. They have a nice wine selection. The service is very good. The atmosphere is clean and airy -- yet not notable in any other way. read more
