Nice bright place to sit, read, and work at. Decent coffee and non-coffee drinks as well as croissants. Electrical outlets available at their many "window-seats". For somewhere at a central location, tends to be less crowded compared to other similarly stylish coffee-shops in the area. Wish there was a tipping option on their machine as not everybody always carries cash. read more

Right at the entrance to gastown, this cute little cafe provides a wonderful view as you work, study or relax inside. As a matcha lover, I was looking for a cafe in gastown which carried this drink, and Buro was one of the only ones other than chain coffee shops to offer it. I must say the matcha here tasted different, can't quite put my finger on it but they must use almond milk or soy milk because it was delicious! read more

Beautiful space in the corner of Gastown... but drinks are terrible. I've tried their espresso drinks, London fogs, and matcha drinks and nothing is very on par with good quality coffee shops around Buro. Service is also hit and miss. Bathroom always smells weird... read more

Aesthetically, the place is gorgeous, very simple and chic. Love the fact that it is in the triangle and that there are so many windows. Unfortunately I was there on a rainy day, but I can only imagine the amount of light that can shine through. Great shop. I had a mocha and banana bread, both were fine. Despite the fact that other users said that Buro served 49th Parallel beans like many other coffee shops (ie 49th, Prado, etc), I personally preferred the mocha at Prado over this one. Regardless, everything was still good. Loved the banana bread and the chocolate chips in it. But, the barista boy that was serving me seemed like he was on the verge of exploding. I feel for him since he was the only one doing both cash and brewing the coffee and serving the food for most of the while when I was there, but still. My drink spilled over and he didn't flinch or say anything. Okay then. read more

One of the newer cafes in Gastown, Buro replaced Shine nightclub. One of its main draws is the natural light provided by the cafe's large windows. There seems to be some work space available and window seating to people watch. They have a large menu selection of espresso drinks and pastries. Prices do not seem that different than chain stores. I enjoyed an iced almond milk mocha. I will return to try a pastry and another espresso drink. The simple, clean decor is a nice way to kick back with a coffee. read more

Buro is very close to my office so I tend to frequent it more often than not for my morning fix. It's a nice space but I feel that the music is slightly over bearing if you're trying to have an extended conversation. Several times when I've had my drink inside the tables were quite sticky, so the cleanliness could be improved upon. Their matcha latte is pretty good. Light on matcha taste, more on the milky side. read more

Coffee is good but charging $1.00 for a splash of Almond milk is ridiculous. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Environment is very good; great location and nice simple decor. But seriously tho? Matcha latte tastes like steamed milk! Am I gonna pay $5 for a cup of steamed milk again? Probably not read more

Good coffee and lots of light in the space, but really overpriced and very loud. Customers have to yell to communicate over the loud music. Definitely not a place to relax. AND not a place to work either as their wifi was slow and disconnected more times than I could count. The staff seemed bored and not a single hello or thank you was heard while I approached, ordered, paid and waited for my coffee. NOT EVEN ONE for me or the other customers from any of the 3 staff. read more

Horrible customer service, horrible coffee, and dirty and unsafe bathroom! 4 year old Daughter slipped on pile of soap in front of sink and complained, kid behind counter said he didn't do it rather than offering apology or solution for future customer safety. read more

Well the location is wonderful. Glass on all sides with a lot of outward-facing peoplewatching stations. The wedge storefront really suits a cafe over retail. 4 smackers for an Americano is a bit steep, especially when it's not the best. Fun Game: walk the outside and see how many Macbooks are on the bar around the edge. Yesterday I counted SIX! read more

I will admit, when I receive bad service, it stings. It's like a lingering dark cloud over my head, and it doesn't leave until I let it go or leave the location myself. The first barista I spoke with was gentle and sweet. My espresso was great, and she made sure I had everything I needed and that I knew where to go for any accompaniments for my coffee. Another barista who I asked the wifi for glared at me as I spoke. She was extremely condescending and did not even provide me with the wifi. The location is convenient, and the decór is sleek and modern. Will I be going back though? Probably not. There isn't anything special about Buro, other than it being another Mac crowded coffee shop. I'll take my laptop and get wifi (hopefully?) to another place. read more

Excellent machiato plus friendly staff make it a great experience. I wasn't sure what to order and one of the ladies working there recommended machiato, a great suggestion. The space is a bit cramped though, but it's not a deal breaker. read more

Stopped here during a long walk from gastown to Granville island. Great Spanish lattes!

Terrible service, unfriendly staff. I never received a cup of tea that I ordered and paid for! They simply refused to make me another cup! When I asked to speak to a manager, they told me she was not on site. They gave me a card that was fake - neither the phone, nor the email address worked! There are lots of great coffee shops in Gastown - save your money and choose wisely! read more

We happened to stop by here in Gas Town. I got the Spanish Latte, and it was too sweet for my tasting. But my bf enjoyed his macchiato very much so. They also have wifi and water. Lots of space to sprawl out and get comfy. read more

Just a perfect coffee bar to come on a cold rainy day.

The chick with the pink hair had a stereotypical barista attitude, which surprised me because up until this time everyone I met in Vancouver was so friendly and polite, but it was still a cool place to warm up with something hot. They made a really good chia latte. read more

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Yelp on November 9th and book marked it for future reference. This is a great addition to the Gastown coffee scene. Really really amazing people here who are friendly. Because it is in the triangle junction I love the people watching from a whole 360 perspective. Came here to work on a few articles for my zine. there is enough seating it's just oddly placed given the shape. read more

London Fog Lattes are my jam. Free WiFi makes this place traveler friendly and I liked the quick, friendly service. I also liked that they had seatings along every wall in this angular shaped shop. My SO and I had a great break from walking around and we also were ecstatic to see that they were open on New Years Day! read more

The 3-star rating is for the latte which I agree was good . But boy, they need to work on their customer service. None of the workers were able to put a smile on their face. It's either they don't like their job or it's just a cultural thing. That's too bad. Spent 5 days visiting Vancouver from the U.S. and the experience has been wonderful until I visited this place. Oh well, hope the owner realized it. read more

All sizzle, No steak. Here's an insight, Buro. Like coffee, there's a proper way to make tea. Water temperature and steep time matter. So as you don't invite customers to pull their own espresso shots, I expect that when you're charging 3 bucks for a bag of leaves and hot water, that you'd at least take the time to steep the tea as it should be steeped instead of handing me a cup of hot water with a tea bag in it. I even tried to head this situation off at the pass by asking them to steep it for me. Perhaps it was the language barrier, but the cashier looked at me blankly and had no idea what I was talking about. And I ended up with a cup of hot water with a tea bag in it. And so I shall return to the places where the most consumed beverage in the world - that's tea, people - is treated as a first class citizen instead of an afterthought for those who want an alternative to hand harvested single origin beans grown on the sunny, gentle southern slopes of a Colombian coffee plantation. The places where Tea is served as it's meant to be: the right temperature, the right taste, without asking. The places where I can tell myself the story that my 3 bucks is worth it, because someone else is doing the work of making me a great cup of tea. Those places, in case you're curious? Revolver, Small Victory, and Matchstick. One star for the interior, though. read more

The ham and cheese croissant was delicious BUT I ordered a Cappuccino and got a latte. When I asked for her to remake it because I got a latte she said that I would have to pay more for a Cappuccino! What! I ordered a Cappuccino! I gave the drink back but she refused to make me one. What! I then showed the lady at the register a description of what a Cappuccino is and she still just stared at me. I said please make me this drink that I paid for in a nice way. Still no drink. Wow. If you want a Cappuccino do not go here!! read more

I don't know why people are giving this place bad reviews. The coffee here is great. My friend had a latte and she really enjoyed it. I originally asked for a flavoured latte, the woman working suggested the Spanish coffee because it would be cheaper and she said it was a popular drink. This was a great suggestion. I absolutely love it. I'll be back. In my opinion the price isn't any worse than other coffee joins. read more

Coffee is good, service very friendly, but while during the week it's a quiet place where to hang out or work, during the weekend it can get pretty busy and therefore loud (and the wi-fi gets so overloaded you struggle to browse). Not the best if you want to relax or recharge your batteries or work, good for a quick stopover. But again, coffee is among the best in Gastown! read more

Yes, the space is oddly shaped and the baristas are not the friendliest, but it's an excellent location for people watching and a great space to enjoy an unparalleled view of Gastown. The chai lattes were OK and I might go back for a quick drink if Timbertrain or Revolver is full. read more

I went to this place because of an advertisement on van city buzz website about what a great this place is, although the location and ambience is very nice the quality of their coffee and pastries are less than par. The affogato was disgusting, I love this drink and I have never been able not to finish this drink even when I've been to places where their style was not to my liking but this place needs major help from a true Barista and pastry chef, it's such a shame for such a nice looking and prime location establishment to carry such mediocre food. First and last time to ever go there. read more

Worst coffee of my life! and shocking customer service. they refused to give me a coffee I was happy with or refund my money. Very unhappy and would recommend that you spend your money elsewhere as either the coffee needs changing or the Baristas need some better training! Will not be back read more

I was a bit surprised by the low reviews, and then I realized a lot of them were mostly due to the "lack of service". Since I personally don't care whether the barista asks me about my day or gives me a smile, this is irrelevant to me. I love the aesthetics and general ambience of this place, lots of natural lighting and a minimalist interior. I would definitely come more often since it's a pretty good work space that's not super cramped like a lot of other hipster coffee shops in gastown (plus it's usually not too crowded so I can actually find a table with an outlet). In terms of convenience it's also right at the beginning of gastown. The Chai latte was amazing, but my friend thought her matcha latte didn't have enough matcha taste. I definitely recommend the Chai though! read more

I am writing solely about the Egg Wrap (~$6.something). You may wonder why I'm bothering to write a review when it's just an egg wrap. I am doing this to save all you egg-wrap lovers from being tragically disappointed. T-r-a-g-i-c, I repeat. The wrap consisted mostly of potatoes. maybe a detectable trace of eggs. but the potatoes definitely overwhelmed it. There is also some cheese and tomato/onion salsa in there too, making it breakfast-appropriate. It is definitely my fault for not asking what's inside. The people working there are lovely and I'm sure would've answered my question. But I assumed wrongly that the egg had the starring role. I just love eggs, and hate potatoes, with a passion. A passionate love and a passionate hate. But it's forgiven (almost), because this cafe is much more spacious than it appears from the outside, with plenty of seats and OUTLETS (hallelujah). Lots of natural lighting, and a slight minimalistic feel in the decor. tldr; egg wrap can be renamed potato wrap : ) read more

Nice Cafe, lots of windows so great visibility of the action outside. Nice and trendy. 49th beans so tasted great. Only reason missing a star is store and washroom needed a clean and customer service was a bit lacking. Staff not too friendly and woman was hesitant to let me use the washroom before ordering. As she put it "there are a couple of people lined up for the washroom anyways". First of all there wasn't anyone lined up, she didn't even look. Second, why would I want a cappuccino to sit there waiting, the milk texture would be awful by the time I'd get to it. Looking forward to a better experience next time. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER with Doris, The Manager. I've visited Buro a few times before since their opening in September and I've always enjoyed my stay. The space is bright, spacious, and the coffee isn't too bad either. Until today, their customer service has always been fine but the service and attitude I received will ensure that I never again visit Buro Coffee, Coffeebar, or any other affiliated cafes again. It's definitely a story I will relay to anyone looking for a lesson in "what not to do" when it comes to working on the front line and regularly serving customers. So today (Dec 25th at approximately 3pm), I visited Buro for a cup of coffee with a friend after lunch. I walked in and I asked the guy behind of the counter if they served pour-overs. He looked confused so I changed my mind and ordered a standard Cortado ($3.30 + tax). The female barista, Doris (Chinese, long black hair), was making the coffees and she made my order. I took my drink and sat down. After taking a sip, I realized that the beans tasted burnt and was leaving a very unpleasant after taste in my mouth. I asked my friend to taste my drink and he agreed that the beans also tasted burnt. So at this point, I decided to take my drink and bring it up to the counter to ask for it to be remade. I first spoke to the guy behind the counter but he told me to wait for Doris and speak with her after she was finished with her current customer. The cafe had plenty of customers seated but none in the lineup when we were speaking. So after Doris became available, I simply asked her to remake my drink because, my reason and in my opinion, the coffee tasted burnt. She told me that it was impossible for the beans to have been burnt because their computerized machines will not allow for that as the temperatures were calibrated. I replied that even if that is the case, as a paying customer I didn't feel that my coffee was made correctly and to the standard that I was used to having visited Coffeebar and Buro Coffee on multiple previous occasions. She continued to insist that she had checked the temperature and it was up to 205degree C and it was impossible for the drink to be made incorrectly. Feeling frustrated at the direction of this conversation, I simply asked whether or not she would be willing to remake my drink. She flat out refused and claimed that there is nothing wrong with my drink. At this point in the conversation, it was painfully obvious that I would not get a satisfactory response from Doris who apparently was also the Manager on site for this day. I asked her if there was another person available that I would be able to speak to about this issue and she told me to send an email to Buro Coffee and walked away. I asked the guy behind the counter who the email would reach and he said it would come to the attention of a guy named Naj, but neither employee could tell me what position he held in the company. So will my email even be noticed and taken seriously? Will the owners even hear of what service their MANAGERS were giving to customers? The issue I have with Doris and Buro Coffee is not that the coffee tasted unpleasant, it is the extremely poor customer service I received. The cafe had plenty of customers seated but none in the lineup when we were speaking and our entire conversation lasted a minute or two minutes tops. She was defensive and flat out refused to acknowledge the idea that the coffee could have potentially been burnt and was insistent that it was perfect. You can argue that I may not have the necessary pallet or training for coffee tasting but I definitely know when I've been given extremely poor customer service. I was not looking for a refund, additional compensation, or even an upgrade in the drink. All I wanted out of this situation was my Cortado, worth less than $4, to be remade. Any restaurant, café, or food establishment would have responded to my request and remade my drink. I do not feel that my request was unreasonable or out of line but was definitely made to feel that way. And most importantly, on Christmas Day too. That's the Christmas spirit, Scrooge. read more
