Visited Dallas this past weekend and my friends decided to eat at Burning Rice -- a sort of "build your own bibimbap" place. Ordering was simple and easy and straight-forward. While my friends all ordered plates containing beef, I opted for the lighter protein option, tofu. I was pretty disappointed when I finally got my plate. Not only did other orders after me get served first, but the portion size of my plate compared to my friends who got beef was undeniably noticeable. The flavor of the rice, veggies and base of the plate was pretty bland so I had to add extra gochujang. Given, I chose the tofu protein option, I wish they gave the plate more taste considering it's tofu and will have less of a flavor compared to beef. read more

Much to our dismay, we found our recent to go orders to be considerably less than in the past. I know I'm being too hard, especially when this company, like many others ARE going through COVID and have to do what they can to reduce overhead. This is probably one of my favorite spots in Texas so far! Lots of rice bowl choices: you choose your choice of meat, veggies, type of rice or noodles. also comes with a soup and salad bar. You also have sauce options. Service is also great. They greet you with a smile and help you choose. Also had a fridge with drinks. Dessert options are some Korean treats, cake pop or macaroon. I had asked for the sauce I ordered to be put on the side marked V for vegan so I know if I can eat it, and if not vegan to not include it to not be wasteful. This is my wife's favorite place. The food is so good and I think it's a great way to get started on korean food if you've never had it before. The food is flavorful and the ingredients taste fresh. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the dishes. The restaurant is clean and exactly what you'd expect considering the location. There's a complimentary soup and salad bar as well and I highly recommend you grab some greens with a light dressing because the food is very rich and very very hot. The rice bowls come out sizzling hot and the rice actually crisps up at the bottom. A nice cool salad breaks up the heat and makes for a better experience. The soup was a little too salty for me but my wife liked it just fine. I will definitely be back despite this location being a bit of a drive for me. Korean food is all the rage right now. If you're curious about it you should definitely give burning rice a try. The employees are all knowledgeable and courteous. Feel free to ask questions and let them walk you through how and what to order. I think this place is great for work lunch but I suggest taking half of your meal home to go. You get a very big portion and the food is very rich. If you have a solid appetite and feel like you can finish your bowl, still opt to take half your bowl to go. This place has delicious food and accommodates for vegans/vegetarians. However, on their menu, they have a little "V" for Vegetarian by the Kimchi Fried Rice and the Kimchi, but when I asked the people at the register, they admitted that they put "a little bit of fish" in the Kimchi. These items aren't actually vegetarian and should not be advertised as such on the menu. Many people have serious dietary restrictions/allergies/etc. I'm glad I asked, but I know not everyone does that and are probably unknowingly eating fish. I feel bad to only give them 2 stars because the quality of their food is great, but this menu error really needs to be fixed (or make a vegetarian version of your Kimchi). read more

The one star is for my overall concerns... not the food taste. My bowl was definitely at least a 4-star... very yummy (albeit not as hot as I would like). I went in last week around 3pm. I was the only customer in the place. I ordered a Spicy Pork bowl. While waiting for the bowl, I helped myself to some seaweed soup and salad. The seaweed soup was between cold and lukewarm... could not have been more than 95 degrees. Because it had chunks of meat in it, I stopped eating it because thereś no way it was being held at Food Safe Critical Control Points (140 degrees). I starting eating my salad when my bowl arrived... it looked great. Then I looked at my salad closely and noticed a long blond hair. I got up and showed it to the lady in charge. She said ¨oh, we dont have anyone with that color hair¨. I said, ¨yeah, I know... itś probably from a previous customer that fell into your salad bar. You should probably check out the ginger dressing and lettuce (that´s all I got)¨. I went back and ate my bowl. For the entire 20+ minutes I was there, nobody came out to check the salad bar to see if any more hair existed. Nobody came out to change out the ingredients. The manager lady just continued to count the daily receipts and cash on a back counter... I hope that wasn´t a food prep counter. The food was pretty good; the meat was cooked well, the kimchi had a nice flavor, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. However, I had to wait 40 minutes for my food after waiting for 15 min at the line for the register with only a few people ahead of me. Even so, staff had to come by my table and ask for what I ordered again after bringing incorrect orders, when they wrote it down on a ticket and should have therefore had my order correct already. Honestly, there just needs to be a better organization system and communication between service and line staff. If you do plan on going here, be prepared to wait a while, as some customers did get their orders in a timely manner when I was here, but for the most part bowls were being sent back by other tables. read more

The number of toppings you can add to the bowl is fantastic, and the number of combinations is endless! Nestled in Preston Square is this hidden KBBQ joint. The menu is simple and has staple Korean choices. Think of ordering as if you were at Chipotle. You chose the size, base, protein, and add ons. Keep note the bowls are large! I ordered the kids sized and was plenty full after. Once you order, you can help yourself to the self serve soup and salad bar. I skipped over the soups, but had a salad with ginger dressing. The food came shortly after straight to our table. The food itself was very tasty! I didn't realize until about halfway through my meal that they have Korean BBQ sauce at the soul and salad bar. GET THIS! It took my bowl to a whole new level after I added it.
