Well, they don't have what I'm looking for but no one did. However, I was thrilled when they first opened. I went to one in San Jose and loved it. It was a new experience for me. I didn't get a coat, because it was the coat factory back then, but I liked the layout. But now, it looks like any rando discount superish store and I was underwhelmed with the selection. Clothing, knick knacks, and dishes...oh my! I was greeted by security on my way into the store, not a problem. The problem is that I received no help once inside. And I was looking for one thing and spent way too much time trying to find it I found it and wasn't too glad with the selection. I'm no longer in the business of trying to try on clothing that I know won't fit, so there wasn't really anything there for me. So as for the value, the prices are cheap, but the experience of walking round and round for one little thing, eventually finding it and walking away empty handed isn't something that I want to do gain. read more

I came to the Pinole BCF because it's local and I needed some blouses. There was a Latina lady that was very courteous and helped me when I asked for her opinion. I found 3 blouses and a few other things that I needed. This was awesome because I now didn't need to go to another store. I got in line and there were only 4 people ahead of me and there were 2 clerks. This seemed to be looking like a good day. Well, contrary to my original thought, it was not. The youngest clerk appeared to have a customer that didn't have enough money or something like that. She bagged his clothes, set them to the side and allowed him to go outside to his car to get....maybe more money? I was sure what was going on. She then began to text on her cell phone waiting for the guy to come back in. 5min go by and the hasn't come back. The other clerk is still working so only one person at a time is being checked out and the line is getting longer. I was able to get close enough to ask the younger clerk what was the problem. She said something like, the guy was approved for the purchase but had to go get the other card. (Huh???) So she then went back to texting on her cell phone. I asked if the manager was available. She pointed at the other clerk and said she is the manager. I asked does she know what's going on? She said yes, the manager approved the transaction. Well, now I've been standing waiting for almost 15min to be assisted and the guy still has not come back into the store. I pushed my cart to the front of the line. As I walk out, I tell the young clerk that she can have someone come out the things back. Here's the kicker: the guy who supposedly was approved for his transaction was standing outside on his cell phone hiding behind the right side wall. My time was wasted!!! We swung by this location to return something.. It was a Reebok Bra that was given as a gift but wont fit... It was unused but just coz it was put in a paperbag it had some light dirt but can shake it off.. After waiting for 30 mins in line coz 2 registers were so slow in attending to 2 other complaining customers, we were denied of the exchange..The black gal said it was dirty but it was just fr the bag but can shake it off, she said sanitary reason they dont accept under garments returned but i showed her that the bra i chose in exchange of the wrong size bra had some lint all over it but i didnt mind since i know it was new.. she did not mention anything and said store policy doesnt accept under garment returns.. I said it was not used and when i said how about the bras you're selling at Burlington how sure is she that none of the customer ever try it on, so that's considered used knowing it touched other women's sweat. i wish i could give this place a 0 star review. this "burlington" (can hardly call it that since it has no coats) is extremely unorganized and hectic, there's clothes, shoes, and random stuff all over the floor and not one of the workers seem to mind! prepare yourself for the slowest line ever, always one cashier and if you're lucky..you'll only spend 40 minutes in line. the cashier is friendly and nice but lacks experience, as she misses many security tags on my items to which security will have the pleasure going through your bag. I noticed on my receipt after that she double scanned items that are the same price as other items (i'm guessing a quick way to save time?), now making it impossible to return if i needed to. there's no fitting rooms, and no bathrooms. My fiance and I were in a last minute rush to get two pieces of luggage for a trip this weekend and I needed some sneakers as well. We spent some time in the luggage area and found duffel bags that worked for us. We split up to see what else we could find. I found shoes and was about to put them in said duffel bag when loss prevention came up and told be to drop the bag, we had been caught shoplifting and needed to leave. They also said they were following my fiance and "KNEW" she was stealing as well. WTF?!? I was initially shocked! I'm in my 40's and have never shoplifted or stole a thing in my life! I don't have any need or desire to! Why is putting what I am purchasing in the same bag a crime? With a store that has a third of the floor empty and closed off, I thought wrongly that they are in the business of selling good. Nope, they are in the business of harassment and profiling! As the shock wore off, I started to get angry as the employee would not let me explain or get a word in edgewise. She had a friend/coworker/shopper who stayed with her and interjected occasionally, even though it wasn't his business. When I demanded to talk to a manager or corporate, they just tried to make me leave! WTF!?!? Here's is a gigantic no-no: When a customer demands to speak to a manager, you don't lie about them not being in store. You don't refuse the number to corporate. You do not block access to a complaint process! I feel discriminated and harassed. I'm sharing my experience with all ears that will hear me cause. I am a big fan of Burlington. I do a majority of my shopping on their website because it's easier and I find more variety. I have found everything from household items, clothing, makeup bags etc. Today I bought my name brand shampoo and conditioner priced at $16.99 (valued for much more ) and did an online return. This store was well staffed, mostly organized and is located right off the freeway exit. I do have issues at certain stores when I return an item purchased online. As soon as I walked in, I showed the cashier the return barcode in my email as Christina stood by. The cashier was in training and Christina walked him through the needed steps to make the return. Christina knew exactly why I was showing him the barcode. I did not get the third degree like I do from other store managers. This was the fastest non hassle return ever. I visited the Pinole, CA store yesterday to make a return on a pair of unworn shoes I had purchased on December 2nd. The cashier was not able to give me a credit back to the debit card I used. I had asked to speak with a manager to have it overridden. It had only been 2 days beyond the 30 day limit and with travelling and the holidays I was not able to make it in sooner. The cashier advised that there was the option for the manager to override the decision but I would have to wait for her to come up to the front to see if she would be willing to do that for me. When Wendy, the manager on duty, arrived at the front instead of helping me she went over to another cashier and began counting items out of a shopping cart. That cashier at the other register had no customer at the time but instead of Wendy assisting me she had me wait for over 10 minutes for her to finish counting. When she finally did saunter over she jumped into how she wasn't going to override the decision and that I was not able to get my $27 back. $27!!!!! She then proceeded to tell me that the returns were actually extended till the 4th for transactions that were done in November and December. According to my calendar yesterday was the 4th!!!! I told her that and also said that I had made my purchase in December. She then back tracked and told me that no, no, no that it actually meant the last day was on the 3rd and it meant I could only return up till the 4th and not on the 4th. This type of service is ridiculous and unacceptable - twisting words and advertising to benefit from a $27 return. People travel for the holidays, are with their families and making returns right after the new year is not always convenient. The worst customer service experience I have ever had! I have shopped quite a bit at Burlington and to know that the company is pinching pennies over $27 is by far the biggest slap in the face as a consumer! It would have been an easy decision for her to override and keep the customer happy but instead she decided to get over on her customer for a measly $27!!! I am embarrassed for them that they have have these types of managers under control of their retail locations and am very upset I have dumped thousands of dollars into shopping with their company for this kind of treatment. The store was an utter disaster. Boxes and clothes racks all over the place at the front registers. It was literally and obstacle course of things in the way just to get up to the register. Things everywhere, not organized at all, stuff on the floor, literally looked like a mosh posh of junk! Since this store was opened, I never really the desire to go in, but one day I did, just because I was curious. To my surprise (the first time I went), everything was decently organized, not to crowded, decent selection, quiet atmosphere to shop in, which I enjoy. I was here about 2 days ago and this place looked like it was hit by a hurricane. They must have changed management or something because this place was a mess! I went here to look at their baby selection - which was crazy messy. I seriously wanted to reogranized everything because I am such a neat freak. It took me up to an hour to find pacifiers and pacifier clips (which where $1.99! can't beat that) and all the pacifiers were up high where no one can reach them, it's like why put them up there?! The play yard selection was crazy also, pieces missing and all over the place. Crazy crazy crazy! Most of the employees there seemed really ghetto and didn't seem to do anything. There was this one guy, who looked like some assistant manager (I hope not), I ran into him twice and he was just wandering around the shoe section area aimlessly like he didn't know what the hell he was doing there! I was like geez, can't you see the stuff that needs to be done around here?! Check out this time around was lame! Super long line, one register open, taking her sweet time. I've been coming to this Burlington Coat Factory for many years now. I used to love it, they had great deals and all kinds of things to choose from. Nowadays it's hit or miss. Seems like there's not a whole lot to choose some days and others there is abundance. In fact my husband sits out in the car now and won't even come in because he feels the men's selection is so poor. In the past he came in regularly and did find some pretty good deals. Today there were quite a few things to choose from. Some of the items I looked at purchasing had holes in them so I actually didn't end up buying anything. Wow. This Burlington is by far, one of the worst locations I have ever frequented. The only reason I continue to come, is because of their deals. This location always has a limit of TWO cashiers, while other employees are doing other things like collect hangers, or count customers in line, instead of making the lines go faster. On Christmas Eve, I needed to grab some last minute gift bags. Normally, I would not be running around on Christmas Eve, but it was crunch mode and everything else was closed. It was 8:45 pm and Burlington's Store Hours said 9:00 pm but to my surprise the door was locked. When I asked to speak to the sales associate who was standing at the door, he told me that they had to close at 9pm and everyone, including employees had to be out of the store by 9:00 pm. Customers that were exiting around this time said they were yelled at and forced to finish their shopping immediately so they could close the store and be out of it by 9pm. My issue wasn't the fact of closing on time, but more so the fact that if your store hours say 9 pm, that's when you close. If they needed to be out of the store BY 9, then their store hours should have said 8:30 or an earlier time. There's no way they could have closed up and counted their drawers (like all retail stores have to do, regardless of holidays) by 9pm. When I asked the sales associate to speak to a manager, he stated the manager wasn't there, which doesn't seem honest. The associates name was Aries and the Managers name was Devina. I dunno. I have had good luck a this place lately. I have been shopping for a couple of particular items, on a budget. I have an item and a price in my head. I go to this place - and there it is. For instance, I needed 2 lamps. K-Mart had them for $19.95 each and they weren't quite right. Burlington had identical ones in white - which was what I had in mind - and they were $9.95 each. Yay! Checkout was nice too. Next I needed some of those plastic milk crates I never thought I would buy. I needed 3. Well, I went to somewhere and they had 2 black ones for $10.99 each. Darn. I went to Burlington and they had 3 in the color blue I have in my kitchen and they were $5.99 each!! Score! I was high at that point and started looking for a baby outfit for some friends who are "green" and natural concious. I noticed every single baby item they carried was made in China. That was disappointing (mostly because the companies appeared to have all sent their manufacturing overseas). So i didn't buy anything for them. But i did get an umbrella and gloves. When I first saw the store opened, I was in awe. The entire section of the parking lot was packed! It's almost chaotic. I parked a good distance and walk to the store and the line to the cash registers were atrociously long. But just like the Burlington Coat factories in SF, they have all the brand names -Ecko, Calvin Klein, Polo, Sean John, Hilfiger, South Pole, Geoffrey Beene, Rocawear, London Fog, Nike, Reebok, Adidas (notice I did not go to the women section). All these brands cost half if what they cost in regular department stores. So you can sport brand names for cheap. The service is great. The staff go out of their way to explain and show you where the items are even if they are in the middle of sorting items thrown all over the place by shoppers. There are only 2 reasons why I couldn't give them 5 stars. First is selection. I tried to look for my size in the dress shirt department but they only have 2 colors. A staff says they are trying their best to make sure they get as much as they can to stock every size...and I understand is the first week so I will wait until next week. The second is they haven't hired a tailor yet for their suit department. The suits are priced super cheap and I wish they have a tailor in hand to make alterations. Overall it is a great idea to open this because with this economy, this store gives everyone the opportunity to buy brand name items without breaking the bank. read more

I am a cool tempered, loving, respectful person. Two days ago I tried on 12 dresses deciding on 5 to purchase spending $127. After getting dressed, I ventured over to the intimate/lingerie section. Found two items I liked but didn't want to try them on at that moment. Since neither were my exact size, I asked the cashier if I could return them. She said "yes, if the tags are attached." I went straight home, tried them on. One didn't fit so I immediately placed it right back into the bag - the item never even touched the floor or counter. Yesterday, I went back into the store, looked around for something to exchange the item for. Found nothing. Went to the customer service desk and told the gentleman "Alex" I wanted to return the item and handed him the receipt. Alex inspects the bra first, turns over the bra and sees two small dirty spots on the inside of one cup. Without saying a word, he slowly looks up at me while pointing to the spot and shakes his head with this "look" on this face. That first interaction was rude to say the least. Since he didn't care to speak a word, in a kind voice, I said "What? I didn't do that." Again, he looks back down at the spot and says "Yeaaaaaah, I can't return this." Again, with that look on his face. I said " I didn't do that. I promise!!!" Now my blood is starting to boil. What kind of service is this? I said "This is a $12.99 item, you have to be kidding me." "Yeah, no. I can't return this." I asked to speak to a manager. He says "I am the manager." Oh boy! Besides not wearing a name tag and a basic t-shirt, not even casual business attire in my professional opinion, my blood boiled even more. I said "Look buddy, I am a customer. Treat me as one." All the while, Alex is leaning with both hands on the counter just staring down at the bra as if pondering what he should do. Really?!?!?? I said "If you're store is so quick to sell me dirty apparel without "inspecting" it, then the least you should do is return it." After further pondering and me just staring at him in complete and utter disbelief, he relunctantly returns the item but through his silent actions makes it clear he is not in agreement with me. Oh my goodness!! Turns out the item was only a whopping $6.99. $6.99!!!!!!! This "manager" was willing to have a forever bitter customer who is going to spread the word....just as I am...for a measily $6.99?!?! Burlington Coat Factory...you REALLY need to re-evaluate your management team and policies. For some reason, I highly doubt that was their policy. This guy...Alex...just doesn't know how to handle people, customer service issues and should take a course in professionalism. After emailing a complaint to BCF last night when I got home, I am still fuming over this. $6.99....wow. To me, it's the principal. I could care less about that money. read more
