A surprisingly If you can tell a store buy it bathrooms, this store scores an f. I'm giving them two stars because the shopping experience was reasonably pleasant. The bathrooms should have been condemned by the health department. Keep in mind this is a store where employees must use the bathrooms and wash their hands. A public bathroom behind the bus station in minske Belarus is cleaner than the bathrooms at this Target. read more

The Target on MacDonald Avenue in Richmond was one of my two more frequented Targets near my residence when I lived in Albany. There were slight differences in offerings between this Target, the one in Albany, the one in Pinole, and the one in Emeryville. When seeking one of the products whose flavor was stocked here, this was my number one option. It was also one of the options for when I was out for a driving adventure and returning to the Albany area southbound. Aisles were cleanly and store sections clearly marked. Prices were fair and steady. Merchandise I was looking for was typically in stock. There were also typically open spots in the parking lot, which was nice. On one occasion a woman approached my car and knocked on it when I was in it alone and indicated she was selling something, which as a solo woman made me feel very uncomfortable/not safe. This was an isolated occurrence, however, and the woman was not affiliated with Target. read more

Hey Yelpers and Target, I want to preface this review with the fact that this is no way near my first experience at this store location however it was so dark and drab shopping here last Friday that I felt a little sad afterwards. I love to shop so that's weird. lol This visit to Target was more of an impulsive one to kill time, mainly by shifting through the clearance racks as I had just did so at Pinole the night before and was happy with my finds. Well, the lack of stars in this review is mainly for the unfriendly customer service workers and security. I was not greeted. I was not helped. Not even the security guards said a word. What a sad store. This might as well be just the model of in-store shopping with robots or no humans in the store. Just merchandise, security, and self checkout. I had a frustrating experience at the Richmond Target with a woman who introduced herself as Alondra, the "front-end manager." She refused to honor my diaper exchange and was unnecessarily rude, suggesting I "just call online." This ordeal lasted an hour--while I'm 37 weeks pregnant. Here's the situation: I purchased a large quantity of diapers through my baby registry, using Target's coupons (20% off diapers + 15% off the entire order). A $60 box of diapers was discounted to $40. However, one of the boxes I received was badly damaged. Since Target doesn't sell the large online-exclusive boxes in-store, I figured I could exchange it for two smaller $30 boxes. Instead, Alondra and another manager (a middle aged black woman with long braids - no name was given) said they wouldn't allow the exchange. Their "solution" was to offer me a 15% discount, which felt like a slap in the face. After waiting on hold with customer service, they finally resolved the issue by price-adjusting the two smaller boxes and instructing me to donate the damaged one. Went into the pharmacy, gave them my prescription for my dog, and the pharmacist went to make sure they had the medication in stock. They said they'd have it filled by closing, about an hour and a half away, and that they'd text me when it was ready for pickup. They called a little later to get some more information to get more information to get my dog into their system. I went back 10 minutes before closing to be told they didn't have the medication in stock -- no text or call to let me know, and they lied about having it in the first place. This Target is so convenient, close to home and the perfect size and product to choose from. People working here are nice and friendly however... way too many things are now locked, it could be fine if the sensor to call for help were actually working. I have used them many times and never anyone showed up and if you find a team member surely enough they don't have the keys. I wonder if my time waiting shouldn't be better spent in the car to drive to another Target. Wouldn't surprise me if it is the next store to close. read more

Compared to the Target I go to in Fort Lauderdale, this one in Richmond is pretty bad. Few if any carts available inside. Maybe 3 self-checkout stations (compared to 16-20 at my usual Target), long lines and few registers open. In addition, this is the messiest one I've been in. Clothes and goods all over the floor, things out of order on racks. I guess the customers are as much to blame as the lack of staff pride and attention. Specially not being able to feel or see if your size is there & then you have to find someone to go open it for you, since they don't come to you. Unless we " buy it" which makes me not want to buy anything at this point! & All the employees they give you that look like hurry up and pick something. I went to this store recently to buy a gallon of the house brand of skim milk. While the milk cooler was quite full, not a single gallon of skim milk. I asked an employee for assistance. The young lady spoke no English. She got a coworker to assist me and he checked in the back and they had none. I used to live in Berkeley and often had the same issue at the store on University. An employee there told me that they often sell out of skim milk. Given the sophisticated inventory management tools available to Target, why can they not adjust their purchase of skim milk to meet the demand? read more

I went to Best Buy in Pinole because Target blew it! I ordered something to pick up and was told that they didn't have it, after I paid for it. Hmmm... My item was available for 10 more dollars and I smelled a scam. So I found the item at Best Buy for the original pricing, ordered it, and picked it up. Easy, no? Well, it reminds me of the time I went to SEARS and found a foot bath at a crazy low price. The manager said that the sale was over, but the poster board didn't say that. So he snatched up the board, threw it on the counter in front of a sales person, barked at him that my sales price was the last to be honored. As he turned on his heel, I told him that he was mad at himself! As the manager, he was the one who decided to stop honoring the sale price and left the poster board advertising it on the floor. He needed to look at the mirror at who he was truly mad at. Well, not so dramatic, but to order an item for $29.99, be told after I pay for it (two hours later) that my order has been cancelled because it doesn't exist and find out that it's still available for $38.99. For the exact same product. Talk about a bait and switch! In addition, I've had some trouble getting what I want from them when I go to pick up. A wait of 5-6 minutes isn't uncommon. Also, last time I went to pick up an order, the person couldn't find it, even when he went to the station where my item was supposed to be. I had just ordered it and was told that it was ready, but i couldn't find it. They have more pick up stations (20 now) but even when there was only four, I could wait for quite awhile. I won't not shop here ever, but I will look at other options first, especially since my trip to Best Buy, in Pinole, to replace my item was so easy! read more

It's a wonder i only spent $10 today. I came in and didn't leave with any extra items. It's Target, the land of walking out with much more than you ever intended to buy. I come to this Target often enough, but my rating is for today's experience with what I overheard. I was in the tech checkout line when I overheard the orientation for the new hires for AT&T. They were to the left of me. Their boss (?) was talking about a previous employee who was fired - we'll call her Nance like the character from Stranger Things - immediately after 2 days because she was not what they expected. She was "ghetto" and "had tattoos all over her fingers and hands" in his words. Mind you, my friend I was with has tattoos all over his hands and fingers. I have a problem with the word "ghetto" as is, especially when it's used incorrectly. Tattoos don't make someone ghetto, either. I hope this poor girl wasn't fired because of her appearance. Coincidentally, about a minute after the man made those comments about Nance he compliments my friend's hair. My friend's hair is green and he also has tats on his face. I think he became aware of his audience just a wee bit too late. All of this is to say some things should be kept in private or said in a low enough tone that customers on the sales floor don't hear it. Two heavily armed police men where are the entrance!!! Parking is shared with other stores, and at the end of the parking it didn't look too clean at all. Inside, it was sparkling clean. Restroom did not have any lock in the men's.: I had to hold it with my belt, see the picture, and the surprise was that they did not have any toilet papers. Luckily, I was able to use a cover seat. The weekend before Christmas and the lines are extra long and they only have four cash registers open and six that are closed. Shortstaffed? A lot of good the self check out is doing for them. The lines are at least 15 customers deep. And it really helps when a customer has a question if the staff is at least bilingual. If they can't speak English, it would be helpful for them to quickly find somebody who can. Even when I show them what I want on a translator app, they don't know what I'm talking about and they take me to the wrong item. read more

Love love love the drive up service presented by Target especially since it includes perishable items. With a little one, it can be difficult to get out and find time, plus her patience, to shop. Drive up allows any one the convenience of shopping online and having their items available any time during Target's business hours. The fact the service comes to you, at your car, genius and amazing customer service! Richmond is not a location I frequent, but they always seem to have what I need in stock so maybe I will start coming here more. They do take a bit longer than other Target locations to arrive to your car, even when notifying them you are on your way. If I do shop Richmond for drive up, I make sure I am not in a rush or at least give myself an additional 10 min of time to wait. Early mornings and late evenings are typically better with minimal wait times. read more

Does anyone remember Target being at Del Norte? When they relocated Target to MacDonald I didn't feel safe going there. I gave this location a try and I have to say that Target isn't bad as I expected. You do not hear any loud people shopping there and Target team members are helpful. They manage to keep the store clean even though it attentions plenty of people to come inside and make a huge mess. Target does their best not to have a messy store. I will confess that when the Target relocated to MacDonald I thought it would attract bad people but it doesn't get anyone trying to destroy the inside. I didn't like when it was across Del Norte BART station. Richmond should be lucky that Target is there. It now attracts people to shop there like it use to when Wards and Toys R US was there in the 1980s. Let hope Target stays in business and doesn't get ruin by getting destroy by people. read more

I enjoy shopping at this Target as it always seems to have the personal items I need as well as some pantry items. The self-checkout is pretty nice too and there seems to be help readily available when there is a snag. I appreciate the security and the parking lot and have never felt wary there as I would at other places. read more

Warning: Don't buy produce here. If you need toothpaste or pants maybe Target is okay but I made the mistake of purchasing sweet potatoes that turned out to be rotten inside. Someone please tell Target that if you intend to sell produce you will need someone who knows something about produce. You can't merely hire someone to open a crate and pile the produce into a bin. That person needs to know what rotten vegetables are. Also, I find no pleasure in shopping at Fort Knox in which the most mundane commodities are now stored inside locked cases. Embarrassment to a decent company, to decent people. While on the road, I remembered that I wanted to buy something for a friend. I made the mistake of going to the Target in Richmond. Immediately disappointed and concerned by the obvious lack of adhering to the usual quality standards of Target, I did my shopping anyway. Almost immediately, I saw 3 teenagers(?), two of them riding electric scooters through the store, brazenly loading up merchandise into their backpacks. Evidently they saw me too. I tried to alert security but they were nowhere to be found. Asked 3 employees to contact security but they did nothing other than looking confused by my request. As the thieves were leaving, they threatened me, using racist language that I am not allowed to use and that clearly does not describe me. Three security guards and an employee sauntered up so I told them about the thefts and the threats, even pointing out the perps. A guest overheard my interaction with the security guards and thought it necessary to intervene, telling me that "There ain't nothing you can do. We steal what we want." I replied as to why I believed she thought this way. A female security guard named Darnell, (maybe 5' tall, tiny build, ugly braids) took the lead, odering me to leave. I had to force myself not to laugh at her. She and the employee said that they saw the thieves, that they would do nothing and asked me to leave for my reply to the other guest. When I questioned their lack of action, their refusal to do their jobs, they again asked me to leave. Saddened, confused, I purchased my item and started to leave. While exiting the store, the employee yelled at me from 50 feet away, across the store entrance, telling me to "never come back." When I stopped, he repeated his command. So I went back to address his comments and the situation. He stood there smug, confident due to the presence of the security guards, again told me to leave, to never come back, and threatened to call 911. Instead I did. I knew that this incident was not to the level that warranted police involvement but I wanted the police report to strengthen my complaint to the Target corporate office (which I filed immediately). Two of the outsourced security guards, maybe once strong and athletic but now overweight and useless, stood silent in the standard pose (thumbs tucked into the arm holes of their vests). The Target employee, maybe 25, probably latino, was wearing an ugly, hand-painted 49ers denim jacket, earring in each ear, white Nike Airs that he was obviously proud of. He was trying so hard to be cool but anyone could tell that he's just an insecure momma's boy with no father figure. Wouldn't be surprised if he knew the thieves. Later in the parking lot, the guest yelled at me from her car that "we n--s just gonna keep going into wh*te folks houses and stealing sh*t." Her young child was in the backseat. So I guess my review is anyone who wants to steal large quantities of merchandise, go to the Target in Richmond. If you are a law-abiding citizen who is tired of the theft, the crime, the lack of responsibility and accountability that goes unpunished these days, better to do your shopping somewhere else. read more

It's a decent target they don't always have what you need and many items are locked away now. Last night I went to return some items from my registry when the young man said according to corporate they are not taking registry returns at this time. I asked when will they start he was able to bring Bernard the team Lead who let me know that I might be able to get clarification from the store manager tomorrow. Mind you I had many item I just lugged over there and now to do it all over again and possibly be turned away again was frustrating. I talked to corporate customer service they said possibly the system is down but I let him know that they are not even trying to take my returns, they haven't scanned anything. So the rep asked to talk to Bernard, he lied saying he told us they would be able to help me tomorrow which was only a possibility. The rep let me know that it would be best to see what the manager can do and if they refuse to give them a call so they can clarify because according to him there should be no type of hold on these returns? Its as if they are making up their own rules, also I don't want to drive with all those items up there so I'm calling and of course no answer. I called customer service again the following day and they were confused because nothing should be stopping the returns. She advice me to go into the store and call them back once I'm there so they can speak to a manager. I went back and once again the sales associate told me they can't do return at the moment. I asked for a manager some Latin man came over, not really acknowledging me and almost didn't acknowledge the poor associate. He was extremely avoidant like he didn't know what to respond until another manager came and was able to help me make my returns. That's when the Latin man said "it's because we've been getting scammed a lot lately but of course you're not a scammer". My refund was processed finally! read more

It's the first do it yourself target! Expect to search for a cart all over the store, avoid the ones in the aisles turned o we like victims of an action movie, ask worn down employees who are no help , then head to the parking lot yourself !and gather up as many as you can for hopeless shoppers, like a pied piper of carts! You can be hero of retail at this neglected target. Once you find that beloved cart, peruse the messy aisles , staff less electronic section, locked razor kiosks with no employees in sight, and finally be welcomed with a long line at the self check out line. This is the worst Target I've ever been to. Target corporation should invest in recruiting, training and retaining staff in this place (and maybe paying them a living wage?). Lines are long and slow bc not enough cashiers, staff is overextended and overworked, inventory is always lacking, no clean carts or baskets to be found, I could go on and on. Watch the expiration dates on any food you purchase. You can always find something expired at this Target. This cheese was over 20 days expired. This is not surprising if you've ever dealt with the stockers - they block the aisles and give you the stink eye (or worse) if you ask them to move their carts so you can get by. I can see them not giving a muck if people get sick or not. (And yes, I've worked plenty of jobs like this.) read more

There is no candle aisle like other Targets but there are things that other Targets do not have (like Bimbo Bread). You can normally find parking fairly close but make sure you are aware of your surroundings. read more
