A crazy lobster Bloody Mary! $18 but worth it!

One of the few places in Venice where you don't feel like you're getting ripped off for excellent seafood. Great service from the attentive wait staff. Very casual atmosphere.

We were told to stop here for the lobster rolls and they did not disappoint. Our waitress provided us with her recommendation of warm with butter and we enjoyed that. The bread was my only disappointment. The ambiance was casual and our meal was fast, especially for Florida. I will definitely be back!

My friend, her mom, and I had breakfast at Burgundy Square Cafe one weekday morning and were treated to a very pleasant dining experience! We were greeted right away and seated alongside the window facing the avenue. Our waitress was very prompt and friendly, brought out drinks and menus immediately, and took our orders as soon as we were ready. Two of our party got variations of the NJ breakfast and I had the two, two, two with some cheese on top of my scrambled eggs. The food came out quick and we all agreed that the portion sizes were huge for the very reasonable prices. The food was comparable to a diner breakfast; comforting and hot. I thought the cafe was very nicely decorated with some Halloween touches for the season. The bathroom was a one-person facility, clean, plenty of room for someone in a wheelchair, and stocked with paper towels and soap. I'd definitely come here again for another meal. I heard great things about their dinner options and the lobster roll!

My friend and I came here while in Venice for vacation. We came at around 5 pm and it was pretty empty. The waitress was nice and friendly. The restaurant is very casual and chill. My friend and I both got the lobster roll. I got mine hot with butter and she got hers cold with mayonnaise. Both were very good and had a lot of lobster on them. To end we got a slice of carrot cake. This carrot cake is massive and could be shared between 4 people. It was so good and I would come back to get another piece. Overall, good experience and a chill place to come when walking around Venice.

    Black and blue burger special

Finally stopped in for lunch and caught the last day of their burger Monday specials for the offseason. I got the black and blue burger and it was awesome. Never considered adding blackened shrimp to a higher but it was a winner. Bang for the buck you can't go wrong with this special during the offseason. The place was packed but the staff were super helpful and quick with service. I will definitely be back hopefully for dinner service next time.

French fries with clams on the side

Burgundy Square has a reputation for being a family style restaurant in the decor of being nautical since they remodeled is still beautiful. The service was awesome given by a very nice waitress. Very concerned that everything was well and checked in on us often. The whole belly clams were awesome as always.

On the positive sides, we seated quickly outside, which I think was nicer than inside. The lighting inside was so harsh, it felt like I was in the hospital or something. Everyone seemed to talk up the Lobster Roll, so I figured I had to try it too. In my personal experience, Lobster Rolls are one of those hit or miss items. Either it's really good, or it's not. Maybe it depends on what your looking for. My favorite lobster rolls use a toasted bun, slathered with sauce, and a large amount of lobster with some kind of special slaw and sauce. I didn't get that here. There was a very generous portion of lobster for sure, but it was bland and on a untoasted bun. If the bun was toasted, or had any sauce on it.. well then I must have missed it. Luckily, the bread soaked up the sides of clarified butter I poured over it. The bread+butter tasted good, probably the best part. Maybe some people like it, but its not for me.

This was a casual spot that was kind of down an alley way, but was easy to find. They served traditional options that included burgers, sandwiches, and seafood options. They were known for their lobster roll. The service was friendly while the food came out quickly. I went with the fish and chips ($16). I had it with a house salad, no complaints there. The fish used was a haddock and it was in their own special batter. There were 4 regular sized pieces of the haddock and it was very good. The batter was not overdone while the fish pieces appeared to be fresh. The fries were also crispy and seasoned nicely. Will I go back? I would.

    Rueben Sandwich and amazing salad!

This place was awesome. Love it. Food and the service was great. Super quaint. Our waitress, Gina, was so sweet. Need to come back again.

I absolutely love this café! The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, the food is delicious. I…read moreespecially love their flatbeds, salads and quiches as well as all the coffees . The café is set up with comfortable chairs/living rooms as well as standard tables where people can either mingle or stay to themselves. I've been to Trivia, their bi-monthly French class, and to wine pairing events that are always so much fun. The owners and staff couldn't be nicer!

If you want fresh pastries, don't come here. My friend and I are in Florida for three weeks, and…read moreshe was craving a Napoleon. We found this place and drove a half hour to get where we assumed, and rightly so, that a French Bakery would have fresh baked goods. Not so with this place. For $9 each, we got two Napoleons. So $18, plus tax for two pastries. They were hard, not flakey. The custard was rubbery. The frosting was breaking apart and dry. They tasted old. Neither of us ate them after a couple bites. In the garbage they went. I went up and asked the girls working there if they had been made today. No, they had been purchased from a different bakery, frozen, and thawed out. This is not a bakery. It's an overpriced food recycler. They asked if it was bad. I told them how awful it was. They said that maybe they needed to go back to their old supplier. Seriously?? Maybe they should actually try baking something. I mean, it is a bakery. They offered no refund. Stay away unless you like throwing your hard earned money away on frozen, stale, pre-packaged food. REPLY TO YOUR REPLY: First, I was unaware of the policy you mentioned and have removed the other business name. I just thought I would let people know that there definitely IS another place in Venice to get a Napoleon. My friend and I purchased two of them at the other business the very same day we threw yours in the garbage. Second, I have no problem paying the amount you charge, if the item is a quality product. The problem was paying that price (or any price) for something dry, stale, and rubbery. We made a special trip to Venice from Englewood to purchase Napoleons, not as far as Fort Myers, but still out of our way. I truly think you're missing the point of my review, which was our PERSONAL experience, the one and only time we tried your product. I wasn't writing about all of the other times your Napoleons were supposedly incredible. My review is only about the day my friend and I each purchased them from your store. Maybe every other Napoleon you have ever sold is worthy of a Michelin Star, although it seems unlikely, but ours were horrible. Next, two of your own employees told me your Napoleons were made somewhere else, frozen, and thawed out for your "bakery." Were they just making that up? Were they also making up the part about how you should maybe switch back to your other supplier? Seems unlikely. Your lengthy reply read like an advertisement for your business. It did not address the issues this customer had. If your Napoleons are all you say they are, maybe by some fluke, we ended up there the one and only time they were inedible. You could have tried to make it right with us. You could have offered us a gift certificate to try them the next time we are in the area, so we could experience what you say everyone else experiences. Your employees could have been trained better and known what they should do if customers say the food they purchased was horrible and worthy of the garbage can. I politely asked if the items were made that day, and they filled me in on how things are done there. I told them the details of our experience and about how we threw them away. No offer of a refund, and I didn't ask. Buyer beware, I guess. You say in your reply that you would prefer to keep our discussion focused on "our own experience with you" rather than comparisons. You were given a clear explanation of our experience and all but ignored it in your reply. At the end you say you "regret that our visit didn't meet our expectations." My review was honest. It was what two adults with realistic expectations experienced with the only purchase ever made at your establishment. I have nothing else to go on. In addition, you are not the only provider of Napoleons in the county, as you claim. You're not even the only provider of Napoleons in Venice.
