Plain croissant and baguette were as good or better than the ones I just ate in Europe. So delighted that we have this gem in Venice.

Was looking for a good cup of iced coffee and the reviews were amazing so decided to stop by. The iced coffee was alright, honestly. I also got an almond croissant which was alright, as well. It wasn't that flaky and it was more soggy which is not how a croissant should be. But the breakfast that other people got looked good. read more

This was my first visit to Croissant and Company. I was short on time, so I just ordered a cup of coffee and a baguette. It's a charming little bakery located at the end of the strip mall on Venice Island. The staff is very friendly, and the shop itself is bright and clean, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to sit on the patio, which was delightful. The baguette had a golden-brown crust and a tender, moist interior. That's just the way I like it. The coffee is brewed and served from a self-serve dispenser, which is convenient since you can customize it with your preferred amount of sweetener and creamer. Located in a strip mall this spot serves both breakfast and lunch dishes along with variety of pastries everything of which is absolutely delicious. Daughter and I had the French onion soup, a croque, ham and Swiss on a croissant along with drinks a orange chocolate pastry as dessert. I love the decor. It was light and fresh; it went with the whole theme of the restaurant. The people who helped me out were patient and helpful since there were so many pastries to choose from. I chose the egg salad croissant sandwich with a cup of Joe. The croissant was buttery and flaky as it should be. The egg salad creamy and melted in my mouth, and the cherry tomatoes had the right amount of crunch to the sandwich. This is the best French bakery within 200 miles. The quiche Lorraine and the prosciutto onion quiche are both my favorites. The plain croissant is flaky with a buttery taste. The fruit garnished croissants are exceptional, all the desserts are excellent, as is the baguette. There is also an alligator baguette for a Florida theme. This was a very pleasant surprise. Tucked away in a little corner shopping mall is this incredibly authentic French patisserie. Really some of the best very buttery flaky croissants. Brightly lit sparkling interior, pastries presented beautifully in the display cases. A lovely classic menu of quiches, croquet monsignor, smoked salmon, Niçois salad, espresso, and latte. Try to get there at least once a month. Beautiful and delicious croissants. Good coffee too. I did like their other location where they had wait staff and real silverware. Try cutting a Croissant with fruit and cream with a plastic knife. Impossible. The other gripe, no one cleans the tables. I put napkins down as a placemat, but you'd think someone would come around to clean tables as not one was clean this morning, and I find that to be typical. Visited C&C for the first time in years (pre-Covid) and they recently expanded. Their new location is not great (it's a basic strip mall parking lot) vs their prior location on the Venice strip. However, I can't fault them for expanding with success and I'm happy for them because the old spot was certainly small. That being said, the food and desserts we had were fine, but I must say they tasted a bit more mass produced (ie hastily made vs carefully crafted). The cappuccino felt rushed and lacked the TLC I remember from when we visited a few years back. I would guess this may be due to expansion of staff and delegation of food preparation due to that expansion. I will certainly come back because it is still one of the best bakeries in the area, but I do miss the quaint little spot I remember from before. What a delightful find in Venice! While strolling along in downtown Venice with our pups last Sunday, we noticed other folks carrying bakery boxes and baguettes. Of course, my bakery radar shot up and we were so pleased to find this French bakery and cafe ! We found an outside table to allow all of us to enjoy our croissants and coffee. We took home a baguette and it was delicious too . Other items such as quiche and desserts are available... the fruit tarts and macaroons looked very tempting. Next time! Indoor seating is available plus you can view the chefs baking if you look towards the back of the cafe. Good news, Venice offers convenient free downtown parking. Bon appetit! read more
