Was circling Dallas for some good food spots and came across this place. Some instructions for first timers, you just walk straight to the bar and order. You'll get a number and then seat yourself. The food came in like 10-15 minutes and was pretty good! Their featured burger changes but this week had something like Guinness beer cheese and radish something. The other burgers in the photos are a maverick burger and Schmurger fries (basically loaded fries with a smashed burger patty on top). Of these the featured and maverick were my favorite. The original schmurger was your basic burger and good but nothing too crazy about it compared to the others. If you go during happy hour, you also get a discount in the basket of fries! Overall there weren't too many burger options though and portion sizes were a okay just a little smaller than expected but still filling. The ambiance of the place was very bar like and chill. You can either sit at the bar or at a table out on the dog friendly patio. Overall great food spot and date night for chill vibes. read more

For several years, I've put Maple & Motor as Dallas' #1 burger. This gives it a run & could be the best one in the city. First, the patties are smashed so perfectly that the crispy, lacy edges are almost transparent. Not sure what they're doing with the house made pickles & onions, but they've managed to make them unique. The cheese-to-burger ratio is damn near perfect. And the grand finale is that upside down bun for the Maverick. They brown the OTHER side of the bun & it adds another layer of texture that truly does put this in the running for best burger in Big D & that's saying a lot. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is the price & sides. The fries are good, but pretty basic fries. House-made, yeah, but nothing spectacular. The price? $15 for The Maverick? Maybe a bit high for a smash burger. Is it better than that fancy steakhouse burger? Oh, definitely. But a greasy, delicious burger like this shouldn't run you $30 for two people. Service is good, but you'll be served by the Craft & Growler bartenders. It's not a sit down, order, get your food deal. If you know it going in, no big deal. Just don't expect white glove service. This was at the High Fives pop-up, the ambience was really cute and cozy with lots of holiday decor and space heaters everywhere. It was maybe a 10 minute wait to get our food, not bad at all considering there were several others placing orders. Now, the burger. Holy cow -- she was good, she was crispy, she was worth the drive. The bun to patty to cheese ratio is perfection. We ordered fries with our burgers and got a huge portion, they were fresh and really well seasoned. This was a solid 9/10 -- -1 because I felt that the burger needed some acidity. I dunked a few bites in the yellow mustardy sauce that comes with the fries and that made it perfect. Alright. So I'm here visiting from Houston and this was my experience as a black female. Food: I would give a 8/10. The fry seasoning was great and the burger was delicious. We saw a gentleman talking to other people at a table, so we just assumed that we would just wait our turn and he would come over to us. WRONG! after maybe 5-8 minutes of sitting at a table, the woman behind the bar tells us we can order with her. We ordered two burgers and my sister orders an alcoholic drink and then we return to our table. Well the woman makes the drink and leaves it on the counter and my sister only sees it when she returns from the bathroom. Our food comes out relatively fast, and the gentleman we saw before is helpful. Another gentleman who was at the bar but also maybe works there ask if we would like a refill on our drink. I said no, but he went and poured me another glass of water anyways. Cool. It's hot. I need to drink it. Food was delicious. Checking out: Now this is where we notice the different treatment. I stand at the bar for a little over 5 minutes to pay the first tab and I more than positive the bartender lady avoided me at all cost. I then tried to pay for the second meal and this took almost 15 minutes of me and my sister standing at the bar. At this point, we can see her actively avoiding us and taking other orders at the bar.. she even made a girl a drink and got her attention so that she could come grab it. Complete opposite experience from what my sister and I had. I finally walk over face to face with the bartender and hold my card up and said I would like to pay, and she say "give me a minute because I am busy!" While taking the card and checking us out. She then tosses the clipboard with the receipt and card in the bar counter and walks off. It's for sure a bar type atmosphere but the customer service I received was incredibly awful. read more
