Very good burger. I usually get the Hawaiian cheesburger which comes topped with ham and a pineapple slice. Their fries are like no other. Not the best, just different. This is my ideal burger: big, different, juicy, messy, takes some skill to eat and keep it together. Yes the decor is pretty old and bland and the TVs are old and not HD, but the burger is really great. For some reason they always have NFL network on, which I like. If you value decor over food there are plenty of places to go that offer a clean or hip environment at the expense of good food. I do wish the soda was a little bigger, but they offer free refills, so no big deal. I probably need to drink less soda anyway. read more

OK, This place is a dump. It's an old Long John Silvers or something like that. It gets 0 for atmosphere. However. The burgers are huge, taste great, and come with home cut fries. Large diameter patty thicker than a 1/4 punder. Walk up, place your order, and wait for them to call your number. Bacon cheese burger, fries and a drink for $8.50. Again, the place is old. The booths and tables are ugly. Atmosphere is a 19" TV hanging on the old off white walls. But the food is good and the portions are huge. Great place for lunch if your in the area. This is a great hole in the wall burger joint in Irving. The burgers are all 1/2 lb. and they have a bunch of different style burgers like the Jalapeno Burger, Chili Burger, Pizza Burger and my favorite, the Guacamole Burger. They are well constructed and although the burger is huge, the bun is proportionally the right size. Also, my bun never got soggy with grease. The only burger at our table that had to be eaten with a fork was the Chili Burger, but it looked great. I wouldn't drive all the way from Denton just to eat here, but if you're in the Irving area, and in the mood for a burger, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one than at Burger Island. The fries are also hand cut, well-seasoned and delicious. The burgers don't come with fries or a drink, but they have a meal deal. You get the Meal Deal for an extra $3 and it adds a soft drink and fries to your order. My Guacamole Burger meal deal was slightly over $10.00 and worth every cent. You order at the counter and they give you a number and deliver your food to the table when it's ready. The place is really a hole in the wall, but it's all you need for a burger joint, and there's ketchup on every table. They accept Visa and MasterCard only...no American Express. 3 stars be cuz it's definitely better than chain options. I tried the Jungle burger, it was a big size burger, meat itself wasn't season much and it didn't have a distinct flavor that would set it apart from other specialty burger joints. The reason I rated it a 3 is because it is hands down better than anything you would get at Mcdonals, Jack in the box, whataburger etc. but it doesn't not rank high amongst other specialty burger places like Jr Burgers, wingfields etc. I went there for lunch on a Tuesday, waited about 15 mins for my food, fries were pretty good also light on the seasoning though. You can tell these patties are previously frozen based on the size and shape of the patty so that's a plus. They seem to be a bit stingy on bacon, the island burger which looks like it comes with everything they have, only comes with ONE strip of bacon. I asked to make sure I wasn't missing anything and the cashier said yup only comes with 1 piece, u can add more for $1. No thanks. Burger, fries and a drink cost me $11.xx. Overall a better experience than a fast food spot so in that sense to me it was worth the extra 3-4$. I would however choose to explore other options if I was looking for an extraordinary burger experience because you won't find that here. read more

Would like to give it a 3.5, the Burgers are huge and really good... Since it's kind of close I do go end up going to Burger Island at least once a month... It's a tad bit expensive and super greasy, but honestly better than any fast food burger place... I love the Chipotle Burger and the Pizza Burger, if you get the Chili Cheese Burger you'll need a knife and fork to eat it..... I usually skip the fries since they are kind of soggy and get some onion rings which are nice and crispy... Fried Mushrooms are tasty as are the Texas Toothpicks... Fantastic burgers, very tasty salt&pepper fries, always worth a trip. It's in an old Long John Silver's or a Taco Bell, and hasn't been updated (aside from the 2 flatscreens) in what would appear to be 30 years. Doesn't look very clean, but that's more down to the decor than anything else. I don't go to this place for the ambiance, I go to get very full on huge, super tasty burgers. The portion is almost too big for me to finish in one sitting, but I can usually do it if I don't care about going into an awesome food coma when I get back to work. I would defnitely support a store in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area if they had plans on expansion, but that may just be the fantasy of a burger crazed fan that doesn't want to have to drive to Irving every time I get the urge. read more

Just ate there again today. Usually get the Chipolte burger or if I'm really hungry the double but be warned that it's a stomach full. Burgers are around $6.50-$7 and for $3 more you get unlimited beverages and great home cut fries. Order extra crispy so they're not limp. Also have great sweet potato fries and onion rings but they are more. Today I saw some guys eating huge flattened pieces of breaded something. Asked what it was and they said fried chicken and they had each ordered a burger and some chicken. Offered me the chicken but I said I didn't want to eat their lunch. T hey said too much food and they were going back to work and were going to throw it out. So I picked up smallest piece. It was DELICIOUS!!! Perfectly breaded and crispy but very moist. As much as I love their burgers going to order some chicken next time! Great food and we have BYOB before but kept it very low key and the owners seemed fine with it. Total dive but the best burger ever. Seriously good if you're a foodie looking for a great burger place. My favorite upscale restaurants are The French Room, St. Martin's, Lavendou, Capital Grill, etc. but when I want a burger all I need is a clean place and good food, it doesn't need to be fancy. These burgers are not the pounded flat patties that seem to be the rage, but hand formed juicy patties like your grandma is in the kitchen making them. Order the jungle burger and you'll get bacon, jalapenos, bell peppers, sauteed onions, provolone cheese, and lots more --- my husband and I crave these and will drive for them. I order mine without a bun because I do low carb, but the bread looks awesome and the buns are bigger than usual so they can hold all that yummy goodness. Hubby says they're great and ties with Snuffers in Southlake for him for best burger (not the same style, but just as good). Oh -- also --- hand cut fries. Haven't tried them (again I low carb it), but the family says they are awesome, too. If you take a date, just know it's a jeans and flip flops kind of place. You order at the counter, but there are plenty of places to sit every time we've gone in there -- I think it's an old Long John Silvers or Taco Bell building. This place have good food, but if you are not Hispanic you be will very uncomfortable because of visable rudeness we felt rush to eat our food. We came in at 8:15 and they closed 9pm. The woman in black shirt is not very friendly at all. While eating I saw some customers walk out because of her rudeness. Also while eating she tried to grab my plate and told her i wasn't finished and the next thing i see the lights shut off 10 mins before 9. However over the past 3 months we have had multiple incorrect orders, and I don't mean just forgot to leave 1 thing off either, I mean 100% the wrong order. Also the fries used to always be so crispy and well seasoned, and now they are consistently super soggy and hardly worth eating.
