Earlier this afternoon was my second time ever coming here. I was also surprised how busy a private-owned burger place could be since most restaurants get really busy at evening to night if anything. Hungry n waiting about an hour and a half or so, the moment to eat finally came. My Hamburger Meal consisted of 3 two oz meat patties, tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms. That's it. There were also Curly Fries and Diet DP since it was a combo. Very fresh and delicious burger in terms of meat, bread, tomatoes and mushrooms. Very good curly fries that weren't too greasy or too salty. The meat was seasoned enough, crispy on outer with soft inside, while the bread was a good starch to hold it adding a little sweetness too. The cool, refreshing tomatoes and earthy mushrooms added more goodness, while keeping the burger both simple and interesting. I'm so surprised that this pace doesn't have more reviews on Yelp, considering it was in Yelp's top 100 places to eat. They have halal beef now, which is the only reason I came here. This place was PACKED! The line itself was out the door and I waited in it about 30 mins. This brings me to my next point, they had a sign saying that they may not be able to accommodate halal requests if they are super busy, but when I got to the register they had no problem cooking our burgers on a separate surface! I really liked the concept of ordering here and it made it fast and simple by the time I got to the register to pay. My burger was huge and I'd say good portion for the pricing (I paid $19 for everything). The taste was also good, very fresh and the aioli I got on it added a lot of flavor. It was a little messy to eat. I didn't think the fried cheese curds were all that special, they're basically like mini mozzarella sticks. Overall still a good meal. This is a new experience for me. Enter the restaurant, select the clipboard that has the food you want for that day (pink for hotdog, blue for fried fish, green for falafel, yellow for grilled chicken, and white for burger). Use a marker provided to indicate on the piece of paper. There are many ingredients that you can add on, and you can also choose to have buns or not. After which, bring your paper to the cashier to order and pay. I had the brioche bun with the 2oz patties (kid size), added Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and scallion aioli. I also had the curly fries as my side because of the difficulty to find curly fries at burger places. I love the milkshakes they have to offer (scan the barcode at the clipboard area to look at the drinks menu). I ordered the black sesame milkshake. I love everything in my burger. Ingredients were fresh and everything I ordered went well in my burger. Super delicious. The curly fries were very good too. I would have it every time I am at the restaurant. I had a meet up here with a few foodie peeps at the end of August since we all love a good burger (who doesn't love a good burger?) and recalled there was a YELP for this burger venue here a year ago. Upon arriving, the lady at the register gave us a guidance on the ordering process since some of us were first timers here. And by us, I mean me. So you create your own burger, hot dog, chicken/fish/veggie sandwich through the clipboards at the entrance where you choose your protein, toppings, add-ons, sides, drinks, etc. I decided on the double 2 oz patties, pepperjack cheese, and the lettuce, tomatoes, onions and mayo; no ketchup/mustard unless it's mixed like a burger sauce. FYI, they don't have American cheese if you prefer that. Also added the scallion aioli (their most popular condiment) on the burger since you're allowed one free extra. The burger was cooked perfect and the fresh toppings and sauces kicked up the flavor profile. The burger can be difficult to hold together so you may need to knife/fork it. For the side options, I decided on curly fries wtih a side of honey mustard; also dipped it in the scallion aioli. I even dipped them in my corn milkshake which is a specialty shake they have available. Very unique, who would've thought corn could mix well with milk and ice cream!? Burger and fries came out quick but the shake took a while. Also failed to realize they had the shakes ready but didn't call the number or if they did, I failed to hear it. BEST burger spot in Houston. Period. Burger Bodega was my favorite previously, but burger-chan just can't be beat. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by the staff with the biggest smile, shout out to front of house staff, Alan. Then to order they have these clipboards hanging where you choose what you want, and then customize your choice to your heart's content. I wasn't super hungry for a late lunch, but I chose: Brioche bun, single 2 oz patty, pepperjack cheese, charred jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo, ketchup, scallion aioli on the side, and sweet potato fries. This was considered a "kid's size" burger, but trust me this was bigger than most adult sized burgers at a lot of restaurants! The kicker though was that scallion aioli... That scallion aioli is what dreams are made of, literally please let me buy a whole jar of that sauce please! 10/10 I will be back very soon! First off, when I pulled up it brought so much nostalgia for me as I spent a many nights next door at Roxy back in the day. When you enter, there are clipboards depending on your protein, fish, beef, chicken etc. I opted for a burger on this trip. First is the bun, I got the sweet sourdough (one of my favorite components), next is meat, they offer 2 oz and 5 oz pattys and you can get single or triple. I opted for 2x 5 oz pattys. I added on cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, and mayo. They do offer some unique toppings such as spam as well. The toppings are charged a la cart. I did add on an order of curly fries, they were good but nothing special. So why are their burgers so good? The smash style of the patty comes off a little crispy and so flavorful. My only complaint is the cost. It's a great burger but with tip without a drink I was over $20 and that's not with any premium toppings. I never got the chance to visit when it was still housed in Greenway Plaza, but I'm digging the new digs adjacent to (not-so) Hidden Omakase and the Galleria version of Conservatory food hall. My friends and I decided a hearty meal of burgers, fries, and shakes would be the perfect post-marathon fuel, and I can say it was definitely worth the ~25-minute wait in the ordering line. As a non-beef eater I appreciated the alternate sandwich selection of grilled chicken, falafel, and fried fish, but the real star here is the customization of buns, toppings, sauces, and sides - you'll have access to all the classics as well as some Asian-inspired flavors like sambal mayo and scallion aioli. I appreciated the friendly efficiency of the counter service as well as the daily puzzle on the board to help kill some time (my high school geometry teacher would be ashamed of me for not reaching the cone-related answer, grr). Once we took our seats it was another short wait before our food was ready for pickup - I dug into my juicy, savory burger like a fiend, pausing just brief moments to 1) breathe and 2) alternate bites of curly fries, tater tots, and fried cheese curds dunked in marinara. I got their double 2oz patty which I think is a good size for a regular person, if you have a larger appetite, maybe triple 2 oz if you like smashed vs a 5 or double 5 oz patties. The first time I tried Burger-chan, I was in a really sad mood after having a rough day. Despite that, I remember thinking that the food was really delicious and couldn't wait to come back on a happier day so I could better appreciate it. I came back this week on a better day and got the same thing I ordered the first time: a 2 x 2-oz beef burger on sweet sourdough bread with a corn milkshake. I was happy to find that the food was just as delicious on a good day as it was on a bad day. The sourdough had the right amount of subtle sweetness and texture to complement the crunchiness of the thin smash-burger style patties. The restaurant also offers a large variety of unique toppings and add-ons, with my absolute favorite being their scallion aioli, which adds a delicious garlicky creaminess that I often crave. The light green color was visually appealing and sets it apart from the regular white color of garlic aiolis, which is a small touch that I appreciated. Their corn milkshake is also one of the best shakes I've ever drank due to its sweet and savory quality and smooth texture, which went really well with my burger. I really hope they keep this item on their menu permanently. I did get to try a taste of the black sesame shake as well, and just like the corn shake, found that it wasn't too sweet at all and had a mild nuttiness that black sesame lovers will enjoy. I do wish this restaurant was open past 3:00p for dinner hours, but if this business model works well for their employees or lifestyle, then it's not really something I can criticize. There was a line when we went but it was closer to closing. They have different colored paper for different items like beef, chicken, fish. You select everything you want on the paper and hand it in when you get to the front of the line. We ordered drinks and were given a token to take to the bar area so they can make your drink for you. The sweet potato waffle fries were really good and the burger was ok, maybe would have been better with the ticker patties. It's spacious and the service was pretty quick but I didn't think is was mouth watering good. It's a decent burger for sure though. read more

Finally got to try this place which has been on my list for quite a while (the Galleria location is not ideal for me coming from the med center). Amazingly flavorful burger. The patty was cooked perfectly. I love all the customization options, especially the fried egg. The cashier, whom I believe is the co-owner, was super friendly and asked how I wanted the fried egg cooked - medium please! Spicy tator tots and sweet potato fries were also fantastic, even when eating 20 minutes later back home with my wife. This place rightfully earns its spot on the list because you cannot find another burger place where so much care and effort is put into a humble burger. My favorite is to do like a mushroom Swiss burger, on the sweet sourdough bread. Yes, you can choose everything down to the type of bread that you want! If you're not in the mood for a burger, they also have hot dogs that you can customize. If you don't eat beef, they have fish or chicken, and even falafel for those who might be vegetarian. It's a great place where you can really find something for everyone, even kids! They have a great kids menu that comes with a coloring page and crayons to color! The fries are delicious and you can choose between regular fries, sweet potato, tater tots, or even fried cheese curds. I've tried it all, and I love it all. They also have lotus root chips which is nice and crispy. They have sodas, iced tea, lemonade, and even alcoholic drinks! You can get refills on your sodas. I tend to be a picky eater and being able to fill out exactly what I wanted on my burger via paper was perfect! They got my order right the first time and our food came out so quick. This is such a good burger spot, I don't know how I slept on this for so long! Everything about this burger was perfection, the fries were good and the milkshake was amazing. This is definitely up there on my burger list! The only downside to this place are their hours :( they are only opened till 3pm and closed on Mondays.
