Was here for a conference and heard this is the bar to be at for some karaoke and after dinner vibes. It's a Sports bar, so more casual than the other places at the Reef. The only people who rank the burgee low are not members and have unrealistic expectations. This is a STAPLE casual spot at the reef. It's inviting atmosphere and familiar, yet elevated menu make this dining location a favorite of mine. I like the wings and salads personally. The burgee is great for a CASUAL dinner or snack or to watch a big sporting event/after party at. The friendly bartenders and servers do not shy away from friendly conversation and the casual bites are a pleasing break from the rest of the clubs elevated food. This is more BAR oriented. Going to the Burgee Bar when staying at the Ocean Reef Club is a must. It's located in the Fishing Village and has fantastic views of the harbor. Since the last time I went there, it seems like there menu has changed quite a bit. As a result, I decided to try both the Margherita Flatbread and the nachos. Both did not disappoint! The margherita flatbread was a great size and unlike other flatbreads I have had in the past, it is actually round shaped which made it taste so much better! The nachos were also great and unique! The different cheeses as well as the assortment of toppings made for a great appetizer. Several menu options I have enjoyed in the past were no longer on the menu so that is the only downside I had about my experience. However, I can't wait to go again in the future! read more

OK per comments from other Yelpers, please note this restaurant as well as all the amenities on the property of Ocean Reef Club are for members only. You cannot dine at any of the restaurants, use the amenities , book a hotel room or anything else unless you are a member, with a member of ORC or with a corporate group that has booked space there. Just an FYI. We arrived later tonight for our week stay and decided to do something casual on property. This was a place we had not eaten during our previous visits. It was loud to say the least in the bar area where we were seated. We could barely hear one another but could hear the rowdy crowd in the bar. I am not sure what happened with the long standing ORC dress code, but there were plenty of violations of that tonight. Anyhow, on to the food. I quizzed the waitress about the seafood being wild caught and she promised everything but the salmon was. Hubby and I decided to share a Cobb salad with modifications to start. The ingredients were really fresh but the dressing was very garlicky which was not good for me. Overall though a good salad. I chose the Mahi tacos and I was pretty disappointed. The fish was really fishy. I was not impressed. Not sure about the quality or freshness of this dish. My hubby chose the French dip sandwich and fries and he was happy. I can tell you I stole more than a few fries from his plate and they were awesome! We tried the cookie/brownie sundae for dessert and OMG this is one of the biggest desserts I have ever seen. Four people could easily eat this and be happy. Our server was nice but there were some fine dining things that didn't happen here. When you pay the price for everything you do at ORC, you expect the best. Our meal fell way short of that. We will probably pop in again during our stay and hope for a better experience. read more

Great service, fast and attentive. Menu selections are really good! We also had wings and chicken noodle soup which were amazing. The drink selection is great though my husband was disappointed his margarita was small with too much ice it tasted fantastic! We've had the flatbread before and are huge fans. I was at Ocean Reef and decided to stop off at Burgee Bar for a quick and casual meal after playing some tennis outside. I was at Ocean Reef during June, which is offseason for them, but the restaurant still had a nice amount of customers. However, there was nobody sitting outside, so I decided just to sit inside, especially because of the humidity. I sat down in a comfortable booth near the sports bar, which was showing a variety of entertaining games and programs including Sportscenter, Baseball Night in America and the Women's World Cup. I started off with the French Onion Soup, which came out steaming hot. I didn't find it to be spectacular, especially because it did not have a ton of cheese on top, which I like. Further, while the soup had a lot of onions, the soup lacked much flavor. Rather, it just tasted like steaming hot broth with hints of onion. While I would have liked to have finished the soup, I could not because my entree cane out and I felt rather rushed. I ordered the Margarita flatbread for my entree and it was very large. In fact, it was so large that I was unable to finish it. However, it was very tasty. The flatbread had a nice crunch to it and there was the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. The tomatoes and basil on top were also a nice touch. The bartender Matt was great and the server Caroline was very sweet and nice. Altogether, the Burgee Bar is a nice, casual restaurant at the Ocean Reef and is right on the water. read more

Admittedly we visited Ocean Reef during the off-season, I have a feeling this spot would be crazy when it's peek time, especially since it's one of the more laid-back dress-code-wise. Not crazy about the number of kids, but fairly well-behaved ;). We ate here a couple of times, both times the food was expensive, but great. The tuna nachos were awesome as was the salmon poke bowl, bison burger and crab/artichoke dip. Super tasty drinks too and a huge bar! The prices are definitely up there, but include tax/tip as it's all on the member card, club is cashless. I would probably be closer to 3- or 3.5-stars, but Tiffany and the other staff pushed me up a bit to 4. Reading the other reviews I can only imagine that they have made changes to staff and food ;). read more

Must say, I normally overlook any deficiencies at Ocean Reef however my families dinner experience was marginal at best. The food was good, better than my last visit about a year ago. The margherit pizza was very good, with a lot of flavor. The cheeseburger was cooked to order, with a thick flavorful slice of bacon and a tasty (but tiny) dollop of coleslaw. So what was the problem, simply one word.....service. To get a table, nobody greeted us, so we hunted down a bartender to ask about a table, only to be told to "find our own". When we asked for a table to be cleaned, we were told that we had to put our name in. While we finally tagged two tables, we noticed multiple tables that food was brought out to the wrong table, and we were no exception. The whole night, service was just not as good as your neighborhood Chili's or Applebee's. read more

The Burgee Bar is located within Ocean Reef on the island of Key Largo. The interior is an upscale nautical theme with textured upholstery, tufted leather booth seating, elegant high top tables, and cozy arm chair tucked away in private corners. At the time we were there, it was self-seating. So we chose a booth overlooking the channel where the boats came through. Our server approached us immediately and took a quick drink order and explained the evening's food and drink specials. We had questions for our server when she returned, and she answered them easily and thoroughly. We settled on pizza and a round of "girly" drinks. When the pizza arrived, we noticed it was thickly covered in cheese, almost too much. It was tasty, yes. But the cheese was goopy (a very technical term) and we had to remove some of it. Overall, the experience was good. The server was friendly and knowledgeable, and our service was timely and accurate. The food was average. I'd definitely visit this establishment again for the ambience and friendly vibe. read more

This pretty much Flanigan's or Ale House of Ocean Reef. The food is better in some ways, worse in others. The service is pretty good, but far from great. When it gets crowded, prepare to wait. The menu is not that inspired. The best part is the bar and the atmosphere. Just having a beer and enjoying the beautiful view around Ocean Reef is worth it. They do make their own pizza in a brick oven. They are exception and I'd recommend getting one. They have a bar infront of the preparation area and you can have your kids sit there and be entertained as they make countless pizzas. The conch chowder is OK- a little sweet for my taste. The salads and boring. Overall, it could be better, but there are not to many choices in Ocean Reef, so enjoy. read more

This place was one of the few places open upon us arriving to Ocean Reef. We arrived close to 9pm and wanted food and a beer before bed. At the restaurant they had a wait although their was tables available and a ton of space between table and table. They offer us a table outside where a couple kids ran around us after singing karaoke. The bison burger was good and the server was hospitable and polite. Over all an ok experience. read more

I was a guest for a week here at ORC. Sure there are bars if you go off property, but if you want convenience then try coming here. We came late night on a Friday and parked the golf cart out front. There was a DJ playing modern dance type music, we missed the karaoke earlier in the night. My sister & I sat at the bar and met some friends easily. I thought the bartenders and people in the bar area were nice and friendly! The mango sangria is very good and fresh- they serve it with an extra side of fruit and more sangria. The atmosphere was fun and right near the channel so the view of the yachts were great! You can also sit outside on the screened in patio. Most bars close at 2am, this one closed at 1am. read more

If you don't want to drive off of the reef to go to a bar then this is the bar to go to. It's a decent size bar that sells decent food. It has trivia night on Tuesday, scaryoke on Thursday, a D.J. on Friday, a band on Saturday, and the NFL on Sunday. It's absolutely hilarious to people watch since you have anyone from young,old, solid gold dancers, cougars, sugga daddy's and everything else in between. The bartenders are awesome and super friendly. The manager Dennis is very nice and is always on the floor talking to the customers. The downside is that they clear house every 6-8 months months and only keep a few employees which is annoying to learn who the new people are. Disgusting. We came by boat from Miami. Called in advance, asked if they had dockage for food. Not a single word was mentioned about having to be members of the club in order to go here. Pulled up at 10:30, and were kicked out in the middle of the night. After calling back 2x during security telling us we had to leave, woman who originally answered continually hung up bc she knew she messed up. Whoever answered the phone at 7:30pm and 10:30pm should be FIRED not only for failing to mention or ask membership information which we had NO IDEA WAS A THING BECAUSE WE ARE FROM NORTH MIAMI AND NOT KEY LARGO, hence the reason for us CALLING IN THE FIRST PLACE TO CONFIRM DOCKAGE. I'm completely disgusted by what happened. It's now 11pm, dark and we're trying to navigate a large boat which is dangerous in these shallow waters. Should we run aground or experience issues as a result of this mistake, we will pursue legal action. read more

Food was OK, manager was pleasant and the ambiance was not bad. The best part was the free popcorn for the kids and being able to send them to the kids playroom but that couldve had a few better things for the kids. The food was OK. I ended up sharing the wings and it was probably the best choice of anyone at the table. I may visit them again if I am ever back at Ocean Reef. read more

First of all this place was ridiculous. They took my friend's REAL drivers license away and her member card and accused her of not having a real id. She had multiple proofs. This atrocious how bad they treated a loyal member. This place has terrible service and needs to get their act together and hire a new manager. If I could give zero stars I would. The Ocean Reef Club is so exclusive, that our night at the Burgee Bar was far from meeting our expectations. We have never seen so many children under the age of 10 in one place and running around like crazy chickens. One kid ran into a server and the poor server hit the wall. Then a few other older people that wanted to eat could not because 2 booths in the back seemed empty, but really were occupied by the children who couldn't sit still. You might ask where their parents were, sitting right there...having a cocktail. My husband thinks that the parents don't know what discipline is because that must be the nanny's job. There is a restaurant upstairs, but we want to see the tvs and be in the bar atmosphere. Big mistake, we won't go there again. I feel bad for the servers for having to deal with all the chaos. Food was good, but not worth the price. And the price certainly is to high for the Chuck-E-Cheese like environment. read more

While the Ocean Reef club is beautiful and breathtaking the Burgee Bar certainly is NOT. We went on a Monday night a little before 8pm. We sat in the bar area at one of the high tables and waited for a server. Then we waited some more until we grabbed one of the many servers walking past us. Once they figured out who was going to take our order the service was satisfactory. We ordered a pasta pomodoro and a pizza. The pizza was a step above what you get in a high school cafeteria. It was under cooked. The pasta was blah. We half salvaged the meal by taking the toppings off the pizza and adding it to the pasta. I can't believe they serve that kind of food at such a picturesque place. Bottom line, go eat at the Islander! read more
