I needed a tail light replaced and called to schedule an appointment. Ben said I could bring it in anytime that day and just to give them a call when I'm on my way in. I did, and when I arrived, he looked at the light immediately and was able to replace it quickly within 10 minutes! He also didn't charge me for it, which was so kind because I'd called other places that quoted me a variety of prices. When I need anything for my car in the future, I'd be more than happy to spend my money here and would recommend others do the same! read more

Burbank Auto Doctor has a new location on Burbank & Keystone but the same great service (and phone number). I've been going to these guys for a few years now and they are always honest and affordable. After my car failed a smog check, the dealership quoted me $240 just to "diagnose the problem" whereas Mike looked under the hood, pointed out the issue, and replaced the part in under an hour. Even after moving out of the valley I'd still rather drive to Burbank to see these guys than go somewhere closer. read more

Recently took my Tahoe in for AC service as it was no longer blowing cool air. I could not be happier with the service and pricing. Where others wanted to replace major components at huge costs. I've been going to the Auto Doctor for the past few years, and even though I just moved about an hour and a half away, I will still be bringing my car to them for any work that I can (assuming it's not an emergency and my car will make it the hour and a half drive). Finding a mechanic that you can trust is not easy, and I'm very fortunately to have found this place after I moved to Burbank in 2018. Mike and Ben are knowledgable, friendly, and cut the bs. I've taken my cars there multiple times thinking that I needed certain work done (usually in addition to a larger problem), and they've told me multiple times that the extra work I thought I needed, wasn't actually needed. They don't try to upcharge or upsell you on services you don't need to get you back rolling, however if they see something, they will advise you of it and let you know what the prognosis is. Ultimately, the choice is yours on when to fix things, and it's incredibly refreshing to work with an auto shop who puts zero pressure on you to do this or that. They let you know what's urgent, what needs to be done, and provide reasonable quotes for said work. I've never once felt like my best interests were not at the forefront of my interactions with Mike and Ben. They also realize that being honest is not only the way to win long time customers, it's also the right thing to do. A business with a conscience is irreplaceable in my opinion, and that's exactly what I find Burbank Auto Doctor to be. Not to mention I thoroughly enjoy shooting the breeze with both Mike and Ben. Some might interpret them as a bit rough around the edges, but I think that's just them being real, which, in LA, is all too uncommon these days. I trust them with my vehicles, and I trust I'm getting quality work at a reasonable price. Car was stalling out. Took it in to get checked out. Was told that the engine was full of metal shavings and would need to be scrapped. Took it to two other certified mechanics who informed us that there was no metal in the engine but the throttle component had too much brake dust causing it to stall. read more

This is the one shop in Southern California that can actually REPAIR your AC system. Not just fill it and charge you$200. Every mechanic in town including all the jiffy lubes and other places will tell you they can service your AC and repair it but they have no idea how to diagnose the system. Ben at the Burbank Auto Doctor will fill your system with liquid nitrogen and locate any leaks and fix them. All this before they fill it with refrigerant and send you on your way in comfort. read more

I just called theis shop inquiring on a flowmaster exhaust system for my hummer H2. I wanted to improve my gas mileage and possibly add some life to my engine with a more open flowing system. The shop told me that I was not going to achieve either of those two things. The only thing the new exhaust system would provide is a different tone. Most people running these shops will just give you a quote for what you asked for and then make the cash. Not the case here, they were honest and have gained my respect and this review. read more

Came to get an oil change. I called ahead because I wanted to save my time and also gauge if they were available to have my car done today. I called and yup they were busy but they told me to come around 2ish. So I did. Came and sat outside under there designated waiting area which had a nice canopy and a bunch of large fans so customers would not get overheated. There were a few people waiting but they were able to get to my car in sooner than I thought. 20 minutes later my oil change was completed and Ben came over to tell me how the oil change went and that I will need to change my brakes soon. He was super friendly and described all the logistics behind changing my brakes. The business itself is really customer-friendly and they try to accommodate to the customers the best they can! I really believe this place is the best auto repair shop in Burbank. I'll be back to update my review after my brakes are changed! read more

Today was another reason I do not let anyone else work on my car other than Ben and his group. My splash shields came off from under my car and thankfully I did not throw them away thinking they were goners. Took them in this morning and Ben told me yeah, we'll get them attached again. After 4 1/2 hours I was expecting a bill of more than I thought because of how long it was taking. Got a call from Mike who runs the front desk and was told no charge......."it wasn't a big deal". Ben is the most honest mechanic I've ever come across. Been working on my cars and trucks since at least the mid 90's. Little things he rarely charges for and he stands behind his work 100%. My aircon was not working in my Honda, I know a little about cars so everything Ben said and did was as I was expecting. He found problem immediately and the price was very fair, about what I thought. They rang to say it was ready and I was very happy with repair. UPDATE Jan 2017 Unfortunately, the same problem has recurred and the aircon is out of Freon. Been going here for years and recently had problems like noise or loose bolts after a simple brake job . went back to access the noise and they said the noise was coming from my transmission and that could cost me a lot so they recommended a specialist and assure me my car is safe to drive. i went to the specialist a few days later and they said nothing is wrong with my transmission and the noise is coming from the passenger wheel bearing and deem my car as unsafe to drive... me very concerned take it back to the auto doctor and they say the people they referred to don't know what they are talking about but then checks my car and says "i don't hear it coming from the transmission anymore" leaving me confused why they didn't notice this before ! mike at the front desk accesses the pricing telling me it's going to be over 500$ telling me they need to add a 60$ pressing procedure which makes the labor longer tells me it won't be ready til late afternoon ... i more confused than ever but also concerned because its needed for my car, agree . i call at 12:30pm and he tells me they put the parts on already and that it's ready and i can come pick it up . i thought it was going to take longer ? this time was faster than the time before they called me at 2pm when they did nothing and sent me to a transmission specialist for no reason . i feel i was completely OVERCHARGED. this shop has no idea what they are doing; not knowing how to properly diagnose and overcharging with high priced nonaffordable parts. read more

I made an online appointment for a 30K tuneup on my 5 year old car with Burbank Auto Doctor. I got one for the very next day AND after work at 4pm. (They have a very user-friendly website.) The dealership had quoted me close to $1000 for the tuneup, and when I was shocked, went down to about $750. I had had the day from hell, and they were so nice to me. I waited in their comfy, cool waiting area, and in a little over an hour, I was out of there. The cost: $175! I appreciate that they were honest and took the time to talk to me. The guys really care about the work they do and wanna make sure all your concerns are addressed. Went in for new air conditioning. I knew the ballpark $$ before going would be between $600-$1300 for my car... Was charged $1290 so definitely on the high side. It is in Burbank though and they stand by their work with a great warranty and top of the line customer service. They are upfront about saying they NEVER use cheap quality or rebuilt parts because they "dont want the part breaking in a year!" Im very pleased to say the least! read more

I've gone here for years, but it seemed that at least one in four times I left scratching my head with mixed results. I've always overlooked small things as a 'one off'. 1- Took my BMW in to have some oil leaks checked out and repaired as needed. My invoice reflected a rather expensive repair/replacement of my washing fluid reservoir. When I questioned the charge I was told that my old one was bad. It wasn't before this trip. Walking to the dumpster I found it discarded with a 'dime-size' hole in it. I was told it was that way when it came into the shop. It wasn't. 2- I had a bad knocking sound in the front of the engine. After a few days they said they couldn't determine what it was, so they blamed it on a new oil change by another garage, 'they may have used the wrong oil' I was told. Their labor and expensive oil change did nothing, so I took it to the BMW service department. It was broken Vanos bolts they couldn't diagnose. 3- Recently took my car in to have new front brakes installed. They called to tell me I needed to have the rotors 'turned', and we might as well put in new brake sensors. I approved. Leaving the shop for a trip to the Bay Area I was headed down the backside of the Grapevine. When I applied my brakes the sensor lights came on and the front wheels vibrated back and forth violently. A new mechanic said that the 'turning of the brake disks was a 'bad job', and very uneven. In addition, the break sensor was dislodged. In between I had a few other questions about charges when one of the mechanics suggested that I talk to Dave. 'He's reasonable and will probably knock off a few bucks'. Had enough! read more

In Ohio I grew up the daughter of a Mechanic who worked his was up to General Manager of Tuffy Auto (think Midas, just everywhere except the west coast). I always invited into the shops my Dad ran, I knew about whatever car I owned and could provide basic maintenance. I also knew that I would never get screwed on prices for being a woman because those were my Dad's shops- I never heard "Oh, your flagerhanen hose is broken and needs replaced". The car I brought from Ohio eventually crooked on me- and I have had Versa's ever since- which I know little about now, other than what I found on youtube for general maintenance such as air filters etc. I have been going to the dealership to keep it under extended warranty. Well, now that's up and I will NEVER go there again- which is how I found this place. Recommendation from a friend that is a car enthusiast. I needed some things fixed on my car "URGENTLY" so I called around and asked for best prices- I landed here, which only confirmed my friends suggestion, so I was happy. I was told- I had a cracked timing belt and I needed a transmission flush and fill. Both of these concerned me- since my car has under 40,000 miles (even though it is a 2012).... I made an apt and was waiting while talking to my Dad just in case I needed his backup assistance shortly (kind of a system we have worked out over the miles so I don't get screwed LOL). The owner came up- I explained my situation and my apprehension. We looked up my car info and confirmed- transmission flush and fills for my car are 100,000- unless I'm hauling. I confessed- I had indeed been lugging my yacht behind my Versa for the last four years. We laughed. then he said- before you leave, lets make sure you even need that timing belt. So we went out together and he showed me where my timing belt was on this particular car. I was LIVID- not a single indicator that it was CRACKED or needed "IMMEDIATE REPAIR".... Just basic wear and tear. So... I left. But not without the reassurance that he is the advocate to his customers and protects us from all those damned robbers out there. He even told me he would be happy to talk to my Dad anytime I had questions or issues about my vehicle. Right then I was sold- I will never ever go anywhere else so long as I live in Los Angeles.
