Our four pack of friends went for dinner on Saturday night. We arrived around 6 p.m. and waited approximately 45 minutes for a table. No big deal - the place was packed! We sat at the bar and enjoyed some cocktails while we waited. We were all VERY happy with our food! The plates came out fast and hot! We started with apps: broccolini, brussels, soups (clam chowder and tomato bisque), and the boudin balls (the boudin balls were the only "meh" item). AMAZING! Our entrees (4 total) were just as impressive with the best lamb my husband has ever had! And, lets talk about the wine menu - We shared a bottle of the Spanish Wine - 7 Fuentes - ($50 price point) - that was magnificent! Our entire dinner was incredible... and the price point for all that food (and wine and a beer) was $180 + tip. Win! And, did I mention the service? Fantastic bartender, attentive waiter... :) We will be back! I only gave it 4 stars due to the lack of ability to make a reservation. Can't wait for that feature to be live! :) read more

Great staff and great food. The bartender (Ronnie?) was amazing. The food was perfect; we had steak, meatballs, and the fish special a few nights ago. The Chef with the dark beard, (Bryan?) has got to be the best at getting our order correct. (We have been to many steak restaurants, especially in Vegas) Gordon Ramsay would definitely benefit from his attention to detail. Presentation was perfect, doneness, and flavor top notch. The kitchen deserves massive credit for putting out such perfect plates when they were that busy. To the owner: The kitchen uses the purchased ingredients well to make great tasting food. If the ingredients (Salt, pepper, powders, etc) were more along the lines of whole, organic, ground fresh in house-and the proteins/produce were local/farm originated, Bryan and the staff could easily make this the only Michelin Star(s) restaurant in Chico. read more

We wanted to support this restaurant during the pandemic because chef Ann Leon gives, gives and gives to the community and it's time for us to all give back. We gave take out/pickup a try and ordered some of their current, abbreviated menu. We had the delicious chicken thighs in curry, the eggplant parmesan, the brussels sprouts and the grilled asparagus. Every dish was such a clean combination of separate delicious flavors. The eggplant parmesan had a nicely flavored tomato cream sauce and bechamel on the side, and had a mild heat that crept in as just a blanket of warmth to bring together all of the sweetness and tanginess of the tomato sauce and the richness of the eggplant. The chicken thighs were unbelieveably flavorful. The asparagus, I wish I could make this way. So flavorful, as if there were some magic ingredient. Perfectly crunchy but cooked enough to bring out a roasted flavor. With all the love I want to share here, I still have to say I have always found the roasted brussel sprouts in rendered pork fat to be a disappointment. They're so fatty, almost as if they're fried in a frying basket. Every bite exudes grease, and they are too charred for my taste. We keep trying them, but it's the same each time. Simply put--Ann Leon is a queen. Been here twice now, and if you're looking for that ~fancy~ burger that just hits different, here's where to find her (the Carlos burger!!). Everything on the menu is a winner, down to the sides. The bar has so many options and their signature drinks are amazing. The service--impeccable, everyone we've seen is so attentive and kind. Got to sit on the patio for social distancing--everything was clean and thought out, felt not inkling of doubt that Burban was practicing every measure to keep us safe. Buddy and I decided to stop in for a beer and a bite. Sat at the bar and had enjoyable conversations and interactions with the staff. Browsing the menu, clearly not a family place as it was all high end complex and very pricey. My buddy and I split an appetizer and the daily special. Can't say as I recall either of them being anything special. Fun folks, sure, but not a place I will not be hurrying back. The inside atmosphere was industrial, while the outside was bland, uninviting ,and needs work. Not sure they have found their groove direction yet. Great location, hope they fine tune it. read more

I heard rumors this place went south when the old chef left but I assumed it was exaggerated...it wasn't. Menu is so-so, food was just kinda regular, and there's simple things they could do to be better but don't, like I don't know, an option for fresh ground pepper, or a server that remembers to keep your water glass filled. In todays era of inflation the prices are somewhat reasonable (slightly higher than say, Chili's, but close) but then the food comes out and suddenly you wish you actually went to Chili's got great chips and salsa and a lava cake with your mediocre dinner instead, for the same price or less. read more

Because it's still new, I'll forgive how crowded and noisy it was. The bf and I went there for a date night before a show for drinks and shared some appetizers. The Brussels sprouts were phenomenal and worth the $8! The skewered mushrooms were not worth the price ($6), and the Boudin balls were ok ($9). I'll go back during lunch when it's not so noisy and get an order of the sprouts just by itself, that could be a meal by itself! They are yummy! read more

This place has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Chico. When we first came in we sat at the bar and the atmosphere, amazing server, and delicious food really sold us. We came back on Valentine's Day and once again were served delicious food with an amazing server. The open face burger, fire potato wedges, and tacos are all sooo amazing and tasty and I can't wait to come back again and find more delicious dishes. The only 2 downsides are a small venue for how many customers they get and smaller plates with not as much food/ sides that were used to, you likely will not have any left overs. read more

If you want Bourbon, it's the place to try it all. The food however, is very very different. Our group of friends was pretty intimidated by the menu. Even the familiar options had strange, extra ingredients on them. I got the potatoes because it seemed to be the only thing that was simple. It still came to me covered in sauce. Not what I was expecting by the description on the menu. I don't consider myself a picky eater, but if you are, I don't recommend this place. read more

Note: I do give five separate stars for service- wait staff and hostess were very attentive and friendly. Food and drinks came very quickly and we were even checked on by what seemed to be the floor manager. So, service was top notch. (Separate, because I don't think people choose to eat at a restaurant for service alone.) My husband and I really left Burban unsatisfied. The dinner didn't start off with the obligatory warm bread and butter (a bourbon butter option, perhaps?), which we often look forward to while waiting for our meal. We were disappointed with the menu and how limited it seemed. I have a shellfish allergy and many of the small plates had something I, sadly, couldn't try. We settled on the whole trout and the butter meat patty. The trout was tasty but without a (noticeable) side dish, it seemed like it wasn't a complete meal (it was also slightly translucent pink). My patty was also good (though it might be difficult to mess up a burger with butter on it...) but expensive for what it was, and also had only a ramekin-sized salad. I have never eaten at Chef's original restaurant but have heard great things (and after looking at pictures of dishes she served at Leon, wished we could have tried those instead!). We felt disappointed when we left and it seemed like something was missing from this dinner experience. Unfortunately, because of the expense of the whole evening, we will go somewhere else next time. read more

This is an urban, contemporary, sterile, loud venue with a wrap-around bar and food items that are acceptable, but limited. Far smaller than the Sierra Nevada taproom, its noise level is worse. For those interested in a plant-based meal, look elsewhere. The animal-free offerings here are less inspired and far less plentiful than the recently-closed Leon Bistro. The Burban connection to Leon Bistro set the expectations very high, which unfortunately, were not met. On the bright side, the service was quite good - especially for such a new place. But the ambience is grey tile and chrome - an industrial look. Overall, sadly uninspiring. read more

I ordered the Spanish tortilla, it was way over cooked. A black crust and chewy gray inside. That wasn't even the worst. They added several items that were not listed on the menu. Went for the first time tonight, for a friend's birthday. We had a large party; so one of us called in early to arrange seating in advance. We were told the table would be ready for us at 6:00. We arrived right on time, to find they had mistakenly given our table to another large party. On their admission, they seated the other party without verifying the name. There was no other available seating inside. They quickly set up the patio for us; with heaters due to the 40° weather. After being seated, it took a good 20 minutes for them to even take our drink orders, and 40 minutes to take our appetizer orders. We were all completely done with appetizers, and they had cleared our dishes, long before they came out to take our food orders. We sat shivering in the cold, as our heaters stopped working one by one. We had been seated for over 2 hours by the time we asked them to just box our food up to go; since we had yet to get it and we were freezing. It took them an additional 30 minutes to bring out our food. And the orders were all wrong, taking another 15 minutes to sort out. I'm 8 months pregnant, yet there were alcohol drinks on my bill, food missing from the order, etc. Terrible restaurant experience. Got home and the food wasn't even any good. We paid $75. for our portion of the bill alone, just to eat ego waffles for dinner. Will not return. read more

Siri suggested this place when our first 3 attempts to find a Friday night dinner spot all closed at 8PM on a Friday night. My opinion- this is a nice, clean place with an enjoyable atmosphere. It has excellent food and best of all, you don't have to go to Downtown Chico! This place is a little hipster (which is not me and my husband's style - at all!) but not so bad a couple of middle aged or retired people can't enjoy it too. So if you are looking for a place that's open after 8, I would recommend this place. read more

My husband and I took our two toddlers in today for lunch. The staff was very friendly and made us feel really comfortable. The atmosphere was beautiful. Not too hip, very nice, and also casual. Our server, Trevor, was kind, attentive, and informative. Obviously very skilled at his job and familiar with the menu. He seemed excited about the food, himself. And for good reason. I took my mom out to this "edgie" restaurant. She had not been out in a long time and really enjoyed the calamari! I was surprised by the roasted lemons. I must learn to make those. I had the pork belly and scallion rice. Very good with surprising presentation. We stayed for dessert with creme brulee, olive oil cake and bourbon gelato. The whole dinner was fun and interesting. Update - went to lunch with my parents. The food was very, very good. Panels have been put in to muffle the noise. That is tremendous. We sat in the same seats. My dad could not negotiate his way out easily with a cane. I didn't get my beer until after the food came. We ordered a starter which came after the meal. My dad and I ordered a bowl of soup and broth as our meal, respectively. My wife and mom ordered a cup of soup and a salad. My dad's broth and my soup came out with our wives' soups. This meant we finished our soups when they did and sat while they ate their salads. The starter meat plate came out somewhere in between. Kinks still need to be worked out in the front of the house but the food is very good. I did note that people sitting at the bar you received great service. read more

The menu has changed completely and for the worst with the reopening. The prices have increased for the small portion sizes as well. I got a crispy pork belly in sweet chili sauce appetizer ($14) and it was a small square of pork belly on top of a ice cream scoop of rice. The sweet chili sauce tastes like it's straight from the bottle of Thai sweet chili sauce you can get at the Asian grocery store. I hope they add some of the old items back to the menu. read more

Our first time trying it out. I like the interior vibe and the wine list. Hubby got the short rib tacos, the beef seemed stewed, covered in some type of gravy that he didn't like. I ordered the spinach salad with added pork belly. The salad itself was tasty. The pork belly was just okay; some pieces were succulent and some were tough and dry. I'd consider trying a different protein if we go back but not sure we would. The menu as other reviewers have stated is unique, my personal issue was how ignorant our server was when asked simple questions like, "what are the seasonal vegetables in the farmer's market?". "Which wine is sweeter, the Chardonnay or Rose?" The answers I got were, "the Louis Latour Chardonnay is not very oaky." "It's in steel." Huh? "There is purple broccolini and a mixture of vegetables sometimes we add rice pilaf; it changes all the time". Underwhelmed is how I would describe our experience. read more

Burban Kitchen's warm and friendly, modern dining room opens to their demonstration-style kitchen. The food is delicious and interesting, with international pairings and classic executions. From the whole fried trout and deep fried Brussel sprouts, to the lighter salad and charcuterie fare, this is an excellent destination for a dinner with friends. Their kids menu is also great, if your kids wil vary from the freezer chicken nuggets and bOxed Mac and cheese. We saw some sliders going to another table and asked our server...they were on the kids menu...a couple minutes later, Ann came by and asked if we'd like some grown up sliders...they were incredible!! Holy moly. This is my first meal in Chico and probably in the top 5 meals I've ever had in my life. I ordered the sliced Spanish tortilla and the Brussels sprouts. The Spanish tortilla was so good that I completely ignored and forgot about the other dish I ordered. I just couldn't stop putting bites of it in my mouth. Eventually I got to the Brussels sprouts which were also amazing. On top of the food being heavenly, their cocktails are beautiful and delicious. Fresh ingredients and fancy flare. I had the Hibiscus Gin Sour and the lemon thyme Collins. Both yummy. The bartender and host were over the top friendly. What a wonderful spot! read more
