Those buns!! Call me weird or not but I have been wanting to try out a dish that serves buns absolutely glad I found this place. The owner of the place is Sean, who was very nice to take his time to help me. Ambiance- 5/5 Laid back, good for causal dining or take out. The decor overall is simple with some nice pictures in the sitting area. Cleanliness- 5/5 Surely they make a constant effort to keep the place clean and request all customers to kindly dispose their trash. Employees and the owner himself were consistently wiping the tables during their downtime. Customer service- 4/5 I took 1 star away for customer service as I feel the employees can be more attentive and interactive. Upon entering, I encountered one employee that was surely not very much interactive. He seemed to be like whatever the whole time I was there. I asked him few questions regarding their menu items but he definitely lacked enthusiasm to help. Though Sean, was amazing as he assisted me with my order and was very sweet overall. Parking- Sunday is a great day for driving and free parking. Accessible via MTA as well but I personally prefer to drive as the commute from Long Island can be very long via MTA. Food- 5/5 I definitely love their menu as they have quite a few options for vegetarians like moi. I liked their sweet potato fries, which were slightly salted but next time I'll definitely order them without salt. Oasis Baja burger buns were amazing for $7 (2 pieces). Great vegetarian and vegan options! They also have dishes with meat in them but an extensive selection of veggie options throughout the entire menu. I recommend the Vegan Nugget Ramen and the Tandoori Tater tots. The sweet potato roll was pretty good too. The venue is cute to dine in as each of the tables is sort of partitioned off with curtains so it gives a more intimate feeling. The service was good and staff was friendly. read more

So happy to stumble upon this restaurant in the pouring rain. I was waiting for someone for about 45mins without ordering anything and they didn't kick me out. I am sincerely grateful. The food was mouth-wateringly delicious. I was debating between the Villa Kuta, Sashimi Salmon Bowl, and Tom Yam Kai Ramen. I finally went with the Tom Yam Kai Ramen for $12. It consists of Grilled Chicken Breast, Naruto Fish Cake, Soft Boiled Egg, Lime, Makrut Lime Leaves, topped with spinach, enoki mushroom, sweet corn, and scallion in Thai Tom Yum Broth. The broth was super flavorful! I like the culture that this restaurant created. You clean up your own eating area. I watched other customers do this and some reason it makes the customer seems so much more respectful and peaceful, if that makes sense. read more

I've been wanting to try Buntopia and I finally did. I ordered two different bao sandwiches, chicken and shrimp. The flavors were unique and delicious. My only problem with the bao is that the bun to filling ratio was off. Maybe one bun is sufficient or more protein is necessary. Other than that, it's definitely a go! read more

This spot in Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn boasts a mostly vegan / vegetarian menu and a large variety of items, such as sushi, scallion pancake wraps, buns, ramen, rice bowls as well as smoothies and specialty drinks. It is a casual dining eatery where you order at the counter, choose where you would like to sit and grab a number so that the staff can bring the order to you. The interior is bright and clean with green plants on wooden tables, lights hanging down and cool pictures of quotes, such as: "Life is too short... Lick the bowl." I ordered sweet potato fries, Umami Piggy scallion pancake wrap, and the Rose Expresso drink. Sweet potato fries were pretty good but I am very picky when it comes to this particular food item. They weren't quite as crispy as I prefer. Umami Piggy scallion pancake wrap was absolutely delicious, consisting of char siu pulled pork, shiitake mushroom, cucumber, spinach, and this amazing Lingonberry Hoisin sauce. The pork was incredibly tender and juicy. The vegetables were fresh, crunchy, and plentiful. There was a good amount of meat, veggies and tasty, sweet sauce in each bite. The scallion pancake was not the traditional oily type... It was slightly thick and a dry, healthier version. The Rose Expresso drink was gorgeous with layers of color: Pale pink on the bottom, white center, along with light brown top part. Topping it all off was this satiny velvet whipped cream with crushed rose petals and a strawberry Pocky stick. The flavors of both expresso and rose were strong. The expresso was nice and bold, while the rose was soft and delicate. It was a really lovely combination. My friend ordered a sushi roll which had a soy-based product on the top, which she is not able to eat. The restaurant remade the order and added avocado on top, which was perfect for her. The servers were really friendly and kind. I enjoyed my meal and didn't feel bad about eating any of it because everything on the menu is so healthy! Also, the prices are pretty affordable. Next time I would like to try the Tempura Shrimp Roll and one of their yummy sounding smoothies. read more

Buntopia is a delicious healthy vegan friendly sushi place in Bushwick Brooklyn. The sushi and food are very good, service is excellent. Ambience: bright brand new shiny white counters, with large photos of the sushi on the wall. The backyard was simple and charming: wooden tables and large white umbrellas to shade you from the sun. K and I met friends for lunch. We tried and shared the following. Happy Bull-da- Vegan protein with Kim chi and granulated cashew in a mantou bao. I liked the crisp texture of vegan protein and the kim chi added some spice. The Vegan protein tasted texturally similar to a pork sausage, but missing some fatty oils. The Shrimpatation- tempura shrimp in a bao. This was good. The tempera was crispy and the shrimp was springy and very big! It was a great starter. Green Shroom- Marinated shiitake mushroom, tofu, asparagus, green tea noodle in a rice paper wrap. This looked pretty and tasted so good! the mushroom gave the wrap such a deep umami flavor! Spicy Girl roll- Spicy crab meat, avocado, black rice topped with spicy tuna. This was refreshing and so clean. I loved the spicy tuna on top of the roll. Noir Dragon- Tempura shrimp wrapped in black rice. This was satisfying. The shrimp was crispy and perfectly fried. The black rice lent a different flavor and texture to the sushi instead of the usual sushi rice and vinegar. Mango Tango- vegan puree topped with Mango and micro greens. This was the best sushi roll! This tasted so much like a spicy tuna roll topped with mango. It had such a clean fresh sweet taste. Acai Bite- this acai bowl had acai puree, sweetened with agave, and topped with bananas, strawberries, chia, dried blueberries and granola. It was so refreshing and delicious! It tasted like eating a purple fruit smoothie. I loved it as an after meal dessert! Drinks: Rosy Kiss smoothie- strawberry, coconut water, rosebuds and rose syrup smoothie. It was refreshing and had a hint of roses and tasted like a strawberry smoothie. Provence Breeze Lavender Espresso- this was a beautiful lavender espresso topped with lavender buds. Rose Espresso- rose syrup espresso topped with rose buds. This was so beautiful and tasted like a espresso with hint of rose flavoring and topped with whipped cream. Great ramen & sushi options for vegans/vegetarians and very fair prices. I loved the vegan nugget ramen! The nuggets come out separately & they're super crisp & delicious. The menu is great for both veggie eaters and meat eaters with plenty of delicious options for both. For dessert we ordered the new chestnut mont blanc which was so yummy and not too heavy This restaurant also has a really lovely and private back patio area. Look, I'm admittedly skeptical about vegan food, and whether or not it can recreate the flavors that its animal product counterparts can produce. This is a skepticism born of experience, because it can be a rarity. Well, Buntopia has made me a believer. The Mango Tango roll is more attractive, healthier, and just as [if not more] tasty than a high quality spicy tuna roll from my local spot. I would gladly eat this (and Buntopia's other offerings) on a regular basis. The owner/manager was very rude. I ordered takeout and decided to sit down and order additional items. Unfortunately he had his panties in a bunch and told me that I couldn't sit down at a table, because I had ordered takeout? Then they included a tip, because I questioned their service? They served me a check before I asked for it. RUDE. I have worked in food service myself for many years and am appalled at this behavior. WOW WOW WOW WOW What an amazing place to visit. My fiancée and I had an amazing time here. The food is delicious, it's also so beautiful displayed. The backyard is a must, there are little houses to sit in with sliding doors, mason jars of lights, and bamboo curtain decor. We stopped in over the weekend due to good reviews, a nice outdoor eating space, and a hankering for both ramen and sushi. We had the basic pork ramen, the shimp bun sandwich, the mango shrimp sushi - then a side of grilled chicken, extra ramen noodles, and another soft-boiled egg (kids favorites). This seems like the type of place where there are enough options to find something you really love. The thing we loved the most was the grilled chicken. Everything else was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but enjoyable to eat and certainly good enough to come back and try other options. For more specifics, the ramen felt like it was missing something - added hot sauce and a bit of soy to kick it up a notch. The shrimp buns were great when getting to the saucy area at the end, but were otherwise a little dry. Nothing to say about the sushi specifically, it was fine to eat, just not my thing in the end. Probably 3.5 stars in the end, but the grilled chicken was so good, that I decided on 4. Also, the service was very good - super friendly staff, and felt nice and safe for pandemic dining. read more

Really enjoyed Buntopia with my son. We started with the Karanga fried chicken nuggets. They melted in your mouth and the sauce on top was a perfect blend of sweet and spice. I had the seafood ramen and my son had the pork. Both were very delicious and the broth was perfect as we both drank to the last drop. Service was fine. It was a light crowd so we were catered to no problem. Place is very clean and the restaurant pops out of nowhere on Broadway. Highly recommend. read more

We stumbled upon this bao / ramen / sushi shop while checking out a cafe nearby. We ordered the classic pork bao. It's $8 for two bao sandwiches, but they are pretty large. The bao buns are soft and doughy. The bao was filled with pork, mushrooms, mixed greens, peanuts, and some hoisin sauce for some sweetness. The sandwich is mostly savory and sweet with a little bit of bitterness coming from the greens. The peanuts add a nice crunch to the sandwich. The service was very quick. There is one gender neutral restroom which is very spacious. There is ample seating in the restaurant. read more

Similarly, after ordered our food was swiftly delivered to our table. I ordered the spicy tuna roll expecting the usual, but was delivered a stale tasting roll with little flavor. I did my best to mask the flavor with soy sauce , but was ultimately unsuccessful. As previously mentioned everyone was kind, however when the check was brought to us it was only then that we were informed the restaurants card reader was broken. Neither my partner or I had cash on us, and had to turn to alternative methods of payment (venmo). I love that the menu focused so much on Vegan themed dishes, it's so healthy to be able to have Japanese style vegan rolls. There is so much choice on the menu it can be a little intimidating. The food here is fantastic, really bright flavors, there's a lot going on in each dish, a lot of creativity. We tried the Happy Bull-da which is like a pork bun but vegan, it's vegan protein with kim chi and spices. Takes very much like the meat equivalent. The Noir Dragon was Tempura shrimp wrapped in black rice. This was a very flavorful and creative dish, the tempura was crispy and delicious. The Mango Tango was a vegan puree with Mango and micro greens. It was purely vegan and very unique, the fruit flavor with uname flavor worked out great. The Acai bite bowl was delicious and very refreshing, the topped fruit with chia seeds, I ate this and felt like Popeye eating his spinach, instant power up! I've been waiting to try this place for about a year and finally had the opportunity to try some food tonight. I'm giving a low rating for quality of food and nothing to do with logistics. I got the Golden nuggets (vegan) they were probably the most decent item and my kid ate most of them with no complaint. I also got the Char Siu bao, shrimp tempura roll, and sweet potato roll. The char siu bao wasn't great because of the meat. It was a bit overcooked and tough to bite through. Both of the sushi rolls had a bad after taste. I couldn't tell if it was the avocado or the nori, but something just tasted off. perhaps it was a busy night or someone new to the shift but the quality of the food was not worth the $40 bucks read more
