Green Curry Chicken

We had a nice dinner here tonight on the patio. Service is excellent! The silver noodle salad with prawns and chicken was amazing! For some reason I wasn't a fan of the dumplings. Prawn and eggplant was tasty.

This is THE BEST Thai restaurant I have tried in the Bay Area. There isn't a single dish that wasn't perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant and is looking forward to going there again!

My sister and I had dinner. The restaurant is cozy and intimate. Service was very good. We ordered their Isaan herb sausage. It had a sour taste and it was bland. We asked our server if it was the flavor and she said yes. She checked with the kitchen. We didn't see or taste any herbs like lemongrass or kaffir lime leaves. I don't recommend this item. Next, we had their deep fried branzino. It was very good. I like their side cilantro dipping sauce. It was unique. Lastly, I was disappointed that they don't serve Hot THAI Tea... yet, they offer ICED Thai tea. I think it is because it comes in Thai Tea leaves verses in a sachet or pouch.

Solid 5 stars! Good was super tasty and flavorful. We ordered a bunch of dishes and they did not disappoint. The brussel sprouts were crispy and tasty. You can really taste the freshness of the spring rolls. Fried rice was also good. Tastes like they used sticky rice and it was so yummy. My friend really loved his larb. The rest were amazing. Excellent service. Angie was so helpful, friendly and happily answered all our questions. Place was nice with great patio. They have parking spaces in the back plus lots of street parking. There's also a parking lot across the street. I highly recommend this place.

First time dining here for Galentine's. Such a cute and intimate set up. Great service. Food was fantastic and very tasty. All the traditional Thai and Laos options. Chicken Larb and Nam Khao are all time favorites. Glad I can come here anytime to fix this craving. Would most definitely one back again.

Old Town Danville Gem: Warm Vibe, Stellar Service, and Authentic Thai Cuisine! My family and I stumbled upon Bungalow on Rose, an incredible spot in Old Town Danville for a Veteran's Day lunch, and we absolutely fell in love. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant gave off this wonderfully warm, home-like vibe, which was matched by truly excellent, attentive service. This is the kind of place you feel instantly comfortable in. Our hostess was Angie and she was amazing in recommending the dishes and provided us with a lot of background story of the origins of the dishes! We started with a trio of appetizers, each one fantastic: * Curry Fries with Braised Wagyu Beef: Absolutely amazing! The fries were warm and crispy, perfectly complemented by the tender Wagyu and the addition of beans. This is a must-try starter. * Fresh Vegetable Spring Rolls: These were beautifully prepared, tasting incredibly fresh with an amazing presentation that made them look as appetizing as they tasted. * Blistered Garlic Green Beans: A perfect side--they were crunchy, had a wonderful texture, and were tossed in an amazing sauce with layers of flavor. For our main courses, we ordered from the special lunch menu, and everything was a hit: * My son devoured the Red Curry Beef with Eggplant, which he declared "great" and loved every bite. * My wife's Jumbo Prawns with kabocha squash, basil, tamarind, and red curry was really yummy. The prawns were noticeably fresh and cooked just right. * I had the Pan-Roasted Salmon Fillet with grilled vegetables, kaffir lime leaves, and red curry. The salmon itself was baked fine, but the combination of the ingredients made the dish an overall winner--the flavors were vibrant and complex. * The only small critique came from my friend, who got the BBQ Pork Ribs. While they were nice, they were slightly harder (less tender) than expected. For Dessert we tried the following items and they were divine: * Sweet Mango with pea flower infused sticky rice- this was amazing specially the rice was warm * Coconut Cake with pudding that is a local Esaan Province special dish- this was just too good. We washed it all down with couple Beers and a classic Thai Iced Tea, which was good and refreshing. Overall, we loved everything about this place. The atmosphere makes you want to stay all afternoon, and the thoughtful preparation of the food really shines through. Highly recommend stopping by this Old Town gem!

Sticky mango rice and coconut pudding. So good!

The ambiance here is terrific. Great seating options inside and outside. The menu has many Thai standards as well as much less common but very original and delicious options. Excellent Thai desserts too.

What a hole in the wall! Bungalow on Rose offers highly authentic Thai/Lao food. Everything we ordered tasted amazing with complex and aromatic flavors. We also ordered a pad see ew for takeout, and that tasted so good as well with a strong "wok hay" flavor. The staff are also extremely friendly and attentive. Needless to say, we will be back!

Bungalow on Rose - A Hidden Gem for Homestyle Thai Cuisine in Danville I first discovered Bungalow on Rose in August 2024, and it quickly became one of my favorite restaurants in Danville. Since that first visit, I have returned at least once a month for good reason. Angie, the owner, and her team are warm, gracious, and genuinely care about creating memorable dining experiences. Whether it is a romantic date night, a casual family dinner, or a gathering with friends, Angie consistently goes above and beyond to make every guest feel special, especially her regulars. Housed in an original bungalow-style home, this location has a rich history as the former site of the Michelin Guide-recognized Thai House restaurant for more than 20 years. Today, it retains its charming Thai antique décor and artwork while adding modern touches such as a stylish mini bar and a tranquil garden patio for al fresco dining. The indoor seating is intimate, which makes the space lively during peak hours. The restaurant is tucked away on Rose Street, just off the main downtown strip. Street parking is available in front, and additional parking can be found in a shared lot behind the building. To access the lot, drive past the restaurant to Front Street and turn into the first intersection. Must-Try Dishes at Bungalow on Rose, Danville Drinks Thai Tea ($5) - 5/5 Homemade sweet Thai iced tea A must-have to begin any Thai dining experience. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing, this drink feels like a light dessert before the meal, offering a soothing balance to spicier dishes later on. Lychee-tini ($13) - 5/5 Vodka, lime, Soho lychee purée My celebratory go-to cocktail. Beautifully presented, it offers a floral sweetness from the lychee, brightened with lime, and balanced by smooth vodka. It refreshes the palate while providing a gentle, relaxing kick. Thai Tapas Fresh Rolls ($9) - 5/5 Two large fresh spring rolls filled with vegetables and vibrant edible flowers, served with crushed peanuts over a sweet chili-peanut sauce A vibrant and healthy starter. The crisp vegetables and delicate flowers bring freshness, while the nutty, mildly spicy sauce ties it all together. Fried Brussels Sprouts ($9) - 5/5 Fried Brussels sprouts with lemon zest Perfectly crisp with caramelized edges and a glaze that blends sweet and savory notes. The lemon zest adds brightness, making these sprouts completely addictive. Fried Calamari ($15) - 4/5 Lightly battered fried calamari with "Tom Yum" aioli The batter is well-seasoned, giving the calamari a satisfying crunch and flavor even without the aioli. The dipping sauce adds tangy depth, though it is not essential. Tiger Prawn Spring Rolls ($15) - 3.75/5 Crispy tiger prawn spring rolls served with sweet and sour sauce Fresh, jumbo prawns wrapped in a thin, crisp dough. On their own, the rolls are mild, but the sweet and sour sauce provides a flavorful lift. Curries Green Curry Chicken ($19) - 5/5 Braised chicken thigh meat, Japanese eggplant, basil green curry with coconut milk A comforting favorite. The tender chicken and soft eggplant soak up the creamy, savory curry, which is gently sweetened by coconut milk and infused with fragrant basil. Mixed Seafood Green Curry ($20) - 5/5 Prawns, rockfish, scallops, mussels, eggplant, basil green curry with coconut milk A seafood lover's dream. The generous mix of fresh seafood offers variety in every bite, all enveloped in the same luscious, aromatic curry base. Stir-Fry Whole Fish "Branzino" ($34) - 4.75/5 Deep-fried wild-caught local fish with Brussels sprouts and three-flavored Thai sauce Crisp, fresh, and perfectly cooked, the fish pairs beautifully with the tangy-sweet sauce. For those who prefer their Brussels sprouts crispy, request them on the side to avoid soaking in the sauce. Rice + Noodles Pad Ke-Mao ($19) - 5/5 Spicy drunken noodles stir-fried with egg, basil, garlic chili sauce, and your choice of protein This wok-charred dish bursts with savory heat and the fragrance of fresh basil. The balance of spice, garlic, and tender rice noodles makes it irresistibly satisfying. Desserts Mango Sticky Rice ($8) - 5/5 Butterfly pea-sweet mango sticky rice topped with coconut cream A stunning dessert with ripe, juicy mango and soft, coconut-infused sticky rice. Garnished with edible flowers, it is indulgent yet balanced, never overly sweet. Final Thoughts Bungalow on Rose is a true culinary treasure in Danville, offering homestyle Thai flavors with elevated presentation. From Angie's heartfelt hospitality to the thoughtfully prepared dishes, every visit feels memorable. Whether dining inside the cozy bungalow or outside in the serene garden patio, guests leave with satisfied palates and a strong desire to return.

Spring roll, soup, veg curry
Shailee M.

One of the best thai place. Located inside a cosy house with very beautiful ambiance. From chinaware to the silverware everything was nicely done. We ordered spring rolls for appetizers, veg soup with tofu, thai Penang curry with sticky rice. Everything was delicious.

Grilled lobster curry

This is by far one of the BEST Thai food places I've ever been to, even better than Thailand. The service was great. This was a hidden gem!

Cashew tofu and curry lunch set

Wow!!! The food was so delicious and when I mentioned I like medium spicy a little on the spicier side, the kitchen adjusted and made a perfect cashew tofu & yellow curry dish. Great portion and presentation. The whole restaurant is adorable (lots of sunny outdoor space. Heaters inside and outside). The service was most outstanding. Very very nice wait staff and food came out so quickly.

Really fresh garlicky green beans, hits all the tongue

1st of all, we're going back for xmas dinner, yes they are plan to be open, cute house, old danv Thai House bungalow. Water feature and fireplace, inside a 3x2 old home. But that's not what gets it!, It's the cuisine!!! Omg, my spouse is half Thai and loves it. The duck, the shrimp with amazing sauce, I kept spooning it off my spouses plate onto my mouth even though I had a great beef dish but it wasn't fandango beef or green nor red curry. More like med rare steak and wonderful sauces, food for all. They are SO accommodating as well. Cant go wrong with chicken satay but the star for apps for me was the garlic green beans, wow. I will update post Holiday for 2nd visit. A must try is the Lychee Lemonade. Thai Tea is good but the lemonade was different. I had hot tea also. Nice small patio outside as well. We changed due to too chilly weather and the christmas tree is a nice beau touch. This time I will be getting another smothered gravy duck plate! Their sauces. Better than my Spouses mom's Thai cooking. Sssshhh, I'll get thrown out. My spouse had a wonderful full flavor cocktail and loved it, I thinknit had too much alcohol But looked lovely. Tiger Thai is around the corner, but this one stepped up.to home plate, idk I don't like sports but the food!

To drink, we had passionfruit mimosas, the maitai (the non-classic one), the chi chi, and the painless (mocktail). All were delicious and beautifully presented. To eat, we shared the Spam musubi. Another lovely presentation! The ratio of Spam to rice to seaweed was balanced and came with a tasty sauce drizzled overtop and a different one on the side. For brunch entrees, we had the ube waffles (one as is and one with chicken katsu), the kalua pork breakfast sandwich? And the poke bowl. The ube waffles are unique and delicious! They are topped with whipped cream, ube syrup, and a fresh fruit salsa; all complemented the waffles well. The chicken katsu was perfectly coated in panko and fried well. The poke was refreshing and came with crunchy pickled vegetables, edamame, and avocado; which was a healthy and tasty brunch dish! The Kalua pork breakfast sandwich was hearty and savory, and the potato salad completed the plate nicely. We finished our meal with the Hula pie. Must get, even if you don't have room! Came here with friends/compatriots for a dinner after a long day of work. The ambience is great,…read morethe staff very friendly and we were seated quickly. The menu is extensive enough for most tastes, and we did order a variety of foods to test that theory! The ones we ordered and have photos for include: Pear Quesadilla (Pears, brie cheese, flour tortilla, pear chutney); Calamari Fritti; New York White Cheddar Fondue; Bishop Ranch salad (Baby greens, pear, candied walnuts, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette); and for dessert: Warm Pear Tart (Puff pastry, vanilla ice cream, caramel), and a Seasonal Bread Pudding. The food came quickly and hot from the kitchen - except the salad and desserts! The food was very tasty, and the pear quesadilla and fondue were favorites for the uniqueness and the taste. The fondue had sliced pears along with the bread, a great change in the usual fondue take. The salad was also liked, fresh and a good variety of tastes and textures. They subbed the dressing for ranch. The desertas were also a hit, being shared. The warm pear tart was best liked, and very sweet and traditional in taste, but the bread pudding was also a close second. The pear tart was new to us, though. The service was great, and Cesar R. took good care of us. Overall, a great time! Can't wait for another excuse to be in the area for dinner.
