I LOVE me a good hot dog but this one was NOT it. There was no line when I was there on a very busy weekday. (Maybe that should have clued me in.) There was also no one behind the counter. For a while. Finally, someone appears. I order a Texas Hot Link (beef, chili, spicy ketchup, nachos). I wait 7-8 minutes. What I get is a gummy kind of meat thing, something that sort of looks like chili but has no beans or saucy-ness or chili flavor, and tortilla chips crumbled on top, this all on a pretzel bun. The bun was the best part. I don't like wasting food so I ate it. But I didn't want to.

Visited Bulls and Dogs in the Foodhallen a couple times during my stay in Amsterdam. It seems to be more of a touristy-type place, given it's location in the Foodhallen and all (being attached to the neighboring shopping area, etc). It was a convenient location though, even if the Foodhallen can be quite full at times. Seating is the trick during "high volume" times in the Foodhallen, so finding a place to wait for your order is another effort. Either way, I couldn't resist some inventive hot dog options, and the "Luxurious Dog" (wild mushrooms, truffle, and hazelnuts on a pork hot dog, all on a pretzel roll) and side of Mexican Corn I enjoyed as one of my last meals in Amsterdam will always strike me as particularly tasty. Granted, the service here isn't exactly the fastest... but the guys tending the place were service-minded and pleasant. Besides, who doesn't love a good hot dog? Not exactly vegetarian/vegan-minded, granted, but I'm not either one... so yay for tasty/innovative hot dog options. Foodhallen can get busy though, with minimal seating in the hall + a wait for your order. Either way, I enjoyed the place. Worth it.

This is one the first stalls you will notice when you enter Foodhallen. We were attracted to this stall after noticing their thin, crispy onion rings. The hot dogs also looked interesting and we ended up getting the lamb merguez dog along with the onion rings. I liked the pretzel bun on the hot dog (though I wish it was properly toasted) and mix of harissa and parsley on top. The merguez itself could be more flavorful but it wasn't bad. The onion rings lived up to our expectations.

    Damn good hot dog

One of the best hot dogs I've ever had. The cook made it perfectly and was super friendly. The meat was juicy and tender, while the sauce was tangy and delicious. The pretzel bread was also very good.

hotdogs aren't normally my thing but how could we pass up these gourmet beauties. That pretzel bum had me sold. Service was wonderful and thankfully English speaking . Prices were very reasonable as well. Additionally, the awesome food Hallen had so many other delights I had big eyes. Follow me on IG @lanisgrl

These hotdogs are made with pretzel for the bun and a skinny sausage and toppings. I thought the pretzel was good but too much sour cream and not much of a hotdog fan. Unique spin but taste wasn't there for me. Had the corn on the cob which was tasty! 2,50€ for half a corn on the cob -yum!

So much yum!!!!!! Who likes hot dogs?! Eclectic menu that is sure to tempt every taste bud out there! Hard to try just one considering this place is full of food stalls. Foodie heaven and nightmare!!! Bring an extra stomach... so many choices!!!

THE best hot dog I've ever had in 62 years of expertise in eating hot dogs. The onion rings were also a great addition to the meal.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!

Some of the dishes a la carte are of great quality. My friends enjoyed a nice tuna carpacio as starter and seabass perfectly cooked with veggies. I managed to have few nice bites from their plates :)I have to say I was also impressed by their gratin dauphinois. Though a classic, this is really not such an easy French dish to prepare. Potatoes were thinly sliced, perfectly cooked with light and soft cream. - : Unfortunately for me I was in a foody mood and decided to try their "more elaborated dishes" a la carte. "Soupe de poisson a la Marseillaise" is a French cuisine classic. In their version of this dish, the fish and the shrimp did bring a nice note, but the quality was average. Way too liquid, no fine texture, the rouille sauce was like a basic mayonnaise... I am always a bit disappointed when those classics are not well executed :( Then I tried the "stuffed" coeur d'artichaud (artichoke). The artichoke was way too big and it felt like they tried to put as many things as possible in the filling (big pieces of mushrooms, other vegetables, cheese....). I was really expecting something lighter, fine and subtle. It's a great creative idea... too bad it did not deliver on my expectations. Luckily the sweet notes at the end were very nice. Try the meringue or the delicat au chocolate (cake). Though a bit filling the flavors are intense and I have had my great dose of chocolate for the week. In few words, a friendly table with a nice menu du jour. I would have given another star, if the service was a bit faster. We had to wait a lot to get the menus (and ended up looking at their website with our iphones) as well as inbetween dishes.
