They are running on a generator currently, which I found odd, until I read on GoErie that the city is no longer letting food trucks pay fees to access city electric--which is complete bullshit if you ask me (but that's an argument for another place and day). Located on weekdays during work hours at Perry Square, Ernies is a small, locally-owned food truck that offers up Erie's own Smith hot dogs, Italian sausages, hamburgers, turkey burgers, cheesesteaks, steak wraps, BLTs, pulled pork sandwiches, and more. It's a safe menu, sure, but Ernies makes every meal fresh and made-to-order. This means that it takes a little longer (my Italian sausage with onions and peppers took probably 6-7 minutes), but being so fresh and at an extremely reasonable price of $4, it was well worth the wait - especially considering the guys behind the counter were personable and more than willing to chat with me while they were cooking, as it wasn't too busy. From out of town and need to get a fresh Smith's hot dog (aka the best hot dog on the planet)? Here's your chance. The bf has lengua, carnitas and diabla tacos and enjoyed them all. We had horchata and Jamaica to drink. The Jamaica was not too sweet which was nice. The horchata was very good. My biggest problem with the aguas frescas set up was the multitude of yellow jackets attacking the drink dispensers which were set up for self service. I had wanted limonada but the bees were particularly interested in the dispenser for that one.
