While they do "house-calls" this issue was a bit more serious, and so I coordinated with Marcus to drop off the computer so he could trouble-shoot the problem. (Note: their current location IS inside the yard for the auto body workshop.) I also left them with the brand new PSU I'd bought from Newegg, thinking it may have been the problem, but wisely deciding to use their services rather than have a go at it on my own. Because as it turned out it was NOT the PSU, but the motherboard and RAM, and after replacing those components Sam and Marcus were able to get the PC up & running. They also very considerately did not even open the PSU box, even leaving its shrinkwrap intact, making it an easy RMA for me. The lads stayed in contact with me during the entire process, which took a little over a week, from the initial diagnosis, to sourcing the new components, the installation, and then 'burn-in' to make sure there were no other issues. I had a vendor I'd previously worked with, but they weren't as responsive as I'd liked. This project is moving fairly quickly, and we needed someone to do the work sooner than later. During the process, I found Fusion Networking and Technology. I reached out to them for a quote, and received a call back the same day. I spoke to Gaspar, who was friendly, professional, and pleasant to speak to and work with. He came out to do a job walk the following week (I had some WFH days and various meetings, so the delay was on me, not on them). We discussed ideas, and then he sent us a quote (which was a good price and very fair), and contacted me to schedule the job. We happened to be in the office working on a Sunday, and he wondered if he could come out the same Sunday and start the job, which was a real treat. Gaspar and Junior drove out, showed up on time, and got to work. During this work, they were very careful respectful of our facility and laboratory instruments, and cleaned up after themselves. They completed the job at about the time they were scheduled to finish, and tested everything to make sure the fiber was performing well. The installation was tidy, attractive, professional, well-labeled, and they even left us a few extra fiber jumpers, which we didn't even know we wanted or needed. I tested all the runs myself and everything was connected at 10 Gbps, as expected. Unfortunately, now, we have to tidy up / mine out the old 66 blocks, mushrooms, cross-connect cables that happen to be OUR mess (which we inherited) and look horrible compared to the awesome work they did!
