I first visited this one of a kind used car consignment store several years ago. Buying cars online had not been a good experience. Enter Buggy Bank. IMHO, this is the best place to buy used cars because you can test drive when you want, the selection keeps changing, the prices are fair (and negotiable), and the sales staff is competent. I have bought my latest three cars here and got great deals each time and (touch wood) with long lasting high quality cars each time. The sales transaction was easy and took very little time. I got my used cars in less than a day after I had chosen to buy them. There was no hassle getting cars inspected. All in all, there were no surprises. Hurray! Cons: you need to be persistent in waiting for your perfect car to appear since the selection is small. Also, during the high gas price era a couple of years ago, the lot was flooded with SUVs and there were not many small cars in the inventory. read more

Terrible manners and dishonesty!! I spoke to the owner of a car. He told me he had instructed Buggy Bank to lower the car $750.00. It has been a week. I called BB. The man said that they are they to make money. The higher they sell the car the more money they make. There is no duty to the car owner much less to a potential buyer. If you want to sell your car THIS IS THE PLACE! I was moving abroad and well I was weary of just leaving my car on a lot, crossing my fingers it sells, I think it was the best decision of my life! Donevan, the operations manager was very helpful, answered all my questions, was professional and was always available to take my phone calls (even though I know they are super busy). I left my car on the lot for a week before I was ready to move and got lots of interest calls. I got nervous and asked the buggy bank if there was anything else I should do. They suggested a mechanics report and arranged for it (very reasonable price too!), they moved the car to a prime spot and said they would even look at their call list where people have left their numbers should a car they want shows up at the lot. After 2 weeks it sold at a price I was extremely happy with. They made all the arrangements (bill of sale/transfer of pink slip/etc) and even made the deposit to my bank since I was out of the country. I can't say enough good things about the Buggy Bank. IT WAS AWESOME! I'm recommending all my friends! Addition: I think what makes this place wonderful is also the non-pusy/non-bias that staff have their . They tell buyers the facts (with carfax report/mechanics reports) and then leave it to buyers and sellers to settle price. So forget those sleezy sales people. If I had to buy a car I would totally go to this place. I'm sure the person who bought my car loved it and I know they got a deal too...and I was happy in the end as well. I was at a dealership buying a new car and was contemplating trading my car in as I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling the car privately, but then the low ball offer of $2000 was presented. We just sold our third car in the last 15 years through the Buggy Bank. We have had great experiences each time. Jerry helped us come up with a price (that was more than we might have asked on our own); and we got the full asking price for the car. The whole process was hassle free and he walked us through the actual transfer of the car to the new owner at his desk. We received lots of calls about the car; he helped us post an ad to Craigslist as well. My original review was based on an experience I had in early 2007. It turns out they were having some staff issues. They've since replaced the people who were there with others who very much do care about the cars on their lot and how they are represented by their private owners. After making our way through Craigslist looking for a car for our son. We came across Buggy Banks add for a 95 Jeep. Having spent the weekend doing our homework, checking out cars for sale we are happy to say Buggy Bank had the car for us. No sales pitches telling us how "the car runs great nothings wrong with it"...only to test drive it and be afraid that it wouldnt make it back to the lot.We did our homework and knew which car we wanted to check out when we got there. We knew what to look for what to listen for with the engine having owned Jeeps before. We saw the sign that said no parking in the lot so we found parking near the lot, it was not inconvient , its Berkely you expect to pay the meters and walk a little bit. We talked to Dean who was a busy guy he had a few people there he was helping already. Soon as he caught up he was right there to help us. My son and husband took the Jeep for a test drive and came back wanting the car. Dean hooked us up with the seller and we made arrangements to meet the next day to finish the sale. When we came the next day to purchase the car Dean was there and another young man. They were both very helpful , professional and friendly. Dean took care of all the paperwork for us the seller was great she provided us with maintance history on her car and extra set of keys. She even gave our son some floor mats for the car. All in all we are very happy with our experience with Buggy Bank and when its time to replace my car we will head there first. Anytime you purchase a previous owned car you have to be prepared and do the homework. We looked at cars all day Saturday and we just knew what we were looking for, Buggy Bank had it. Not sure if my review will go through because it was such a long time ago. But I had a good experience I just had to share it. It was about 4 years ago my daughter lost her license and had to sell her car. She signed the car over to me and I somehow ran across this place online and called them up. They clearly explained what they do and what I had to do. I liked the idea of consignment because I didn't have the time to meet with potential buyers and found they do most of the work including putting the photo of the car on the site. The place is secured when it's closed so I didn't have to worry about the car. I understand why we have to park outside on the street because they save most of the lot for the safety of the cars being sold. They would contact me every time someone wanted to take the car to get checked. When someone wanted to buy it they contacted me and you meet up with them at the office and the transaction take place. I love how they can change over the title there so you don't have go down to the DMV or worry they get a ticket or accident and you are still responsible. Everything is final when you leave. The whole process went smooth. Right now I am looking for a car but so far they don't have what I want but it isn't there fault. It's like going to a thrift store, they are not going to have everything you want, you just have to see if something comes available that you are interested in. read more

First, the folks at the front desk were exceptionally kind, sweet, and re-assuring. I was also glad to learn that they walk both the buyer and seller through the DMV paper work and purchase. Second, and even better, I never had to use that service. I took my car in on Saturday late afternoon and it was sold by 3:00 p.m. the next day!! This despite the fact that my car was 12 years old and had very high mileage. I'd not yet had the chance to leave my car at the Buggy Bank lot (the lot was too full for the day). They, however, had quickly posted the description and photo of my car on their website and I was contacted the following afternoon by the buyer. The rapidity with which my car sold indicates, I think, not only the high volume of traffic on their website, but the trust folks have in their business. Buggy Bank even agreed to a partial refund as I didn't take advantage of their full compliment of services. read more

I have never sold a car before and, based on the service I received from the Buggy Bank--and from Donovan in particular--I wouldn't sell a car any other way. I brought in my rare, restored 1966 Volvo, filled out the paperwork, left the lot, and then a few days later MOVED OUT OF STATE. The Buggy Bank staff handled everything from the moment I drove off their lot until the day the car sold. The test drives, the questions from interested parties, the care of the car...the Buggy Bank handled everything, but stayed in touch with me every step of the way, making sure they were handling the care and sale of my car the way I wanted. When my car sold, the money was in my account in less than 30 minutes. I can't say enough about the trustworthiness and professionalism of the Buggy Bank and its staff. I found Jerry to be incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly when I recently was at Buggy Bank to sell my car. He explained the services that Buggy Bank provides, helped me price my car and made sure I understood what my responsibilities were. I had spent some time trying to clean the inside of the car in anticipation of selling it, and after Jerry inspected it he said I did a good job and didn't try to sell me a cleaning. From that experience and my interaction with him overall, I could tell that Buggy Bank was the real deal and they weren't going to nickel and dime me. I did pay to have the outside of the car washed/waxed and the price was very reasonable and the job came out great. While Jerry was helping me, quite a few people stopped in the office to check out keys for test drives of different cars, and Jerry handled all of us professionally and courteously. One father-daughter couple came in and Jerry had to explain to them why the daughter couldn't test drive a car (she wasn't 21 yet). Also, when customers came in asking about specific cars on the lot, he was quick with info about them (if they were on hold, etc) without even having to look up the vehicle in his files. Those two cases showed me that he knows policy and he knows his inventory! Super positive experience overall, and I couldn't recommend him or Buggy Bank enough. read more
