*****DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM THIS PLACE***** I originally…read moregave Albany Subaru 5-star after my purchase of my 2022 Subaru Ascent. However, a month into having the car, I had a nail in my tire (which I am liable for) and went to three different shops to get quotes for a tire replacement. ALL three shops notified me that the ALL the tires needed to be changed because all four tires were worn out and unsafe and that the dealership should have never sold it to me in that condition. Note: I had a paperwork from all three shops indicating all this. I called Albany of Subaru and got the run around and even got hung up on and finally requested the GM and they scheduled me an appointment. At the appointment, they denied covering ALL four tires. So I requested a paperwork that stated they would cover it so that I can file a complaint with the California Bureau of Automotive Repairs and the Better Business Bureau. Finally they were able to cover all four tires BUT I still had to pay $140 for the alignment. NOW! My husbands outback car is having issues, which was purchased two weeks after mine.

I had a great time working with Marcus. He always answered texts right away, friendly and not…read more"fake-friendly", and made the whole process smooth as silk. Plus I got the exact truck I was looking for at a great price. He never tried to pull the wool over my eyes, never exaggerated any facts. I experienced him as a gracious, honest man who rather the customer be happy with the purchase than emphasize the sale of a vehicle. Put simply, the dude is chill. If you see that he has a car in stock that you are interested in purchasing, check him out, do your due diligence and go from there. He makes it easy. I don't know if any readers of this post will recall the old days, when the hardware store was owned by someone from the neighborhood, at any rate, its like that. He's the like that hardware store owner before home depot put them [sadly] out them of business, he's the "neighborhood car salesman" like that back-in-the-day hardware store owner. I hope that makes sense! Totally recommend Marcus :) (forgive the descriptive redundancy, its an attempt to really get the point across :))

After the first car, i didnt think twice about my new car. The owner is great at making sure everything is understood. I would recommend Privilege Motors to any and everyone that asks me about where i got my car from. It is located on San Pablo across from Happy Donuts and 938 Crawfish.

He was able to answer all of our questions and was a no pressure salesman. He offered us fair market for our car and had the paper work done and keys in our hand in less than an hour. UPDATE: I sent the picture of the "tar" oil to the owner and to his credit he responded quickly and…read moreapologized. He said that it was indeed obvious that the oil wasn't changed, and acknowledged this was a "miss" by his mechanic. I appreciated this bc at the time I was contending that the oil hadn't been changed, I felt like the "bad guy" when his mechanic was telling us that he had changed it. So I appreciated the call. In any case, this could have been a real problem for me had I not done my own checking and changed the oil myself, and no doubt I would have just been out-of-luck with no recourse. So even if not attributable to malice in this case, stuff can fall through the cracks and I recommend that you do your own thorough due diligence and not necessarily just take everything that is said at face value. ORIGINAL: Be careful and you should buy here only if you know cars or if you have a good mechanic. I came here only because they happened to have a rare model that I was looking for. The owner represented that they had changed the oil after I expressly asked. I honestly didn't care if they did or not, I just wanted to know so I would know to do it. After a cursory check after some driving, it was obvious from the dipstick that the "mechanic" had not. I went back to the dealership to get them to do it. When I returned, the owner swore up and down that his "mechanic" changed the oil, and that he didn't want to ask him to change it again bc then he'd be "calling his mechanic a liar." I said I couldn't speak to whether the "mechanic" was a liar or not, but see can see from the photo what eventually came out when I changed it. So yea, man, your "mechanic" is indeed, a liar. The owner then offered to reimburse me if I went to go change it at Midas nearby. Not trusting a "quickie oil change" place either I asked instead if the owner would just pay me the cost of the oil and filter and I'd do it myself. So buyer beware. They have a decent selection of interesting cars, but you should assume, regardless of what they tell you, that they did not do any maintenance to the car. Unless you are physically watching them as they do it, and even then I'm not sure I would trust them. You will either have to check everything yourself, or take it to your trusted mechanic. The one thing that is good, is that the salespeople seemed like decent enough people, but definitely are not thorough or take proper care in what they are doing. For 90% of buyers who don't know anything about cars they can probably get away with their behavior. But I'd recommend that you only buy here if if you really know your cars and know exactly what to check.
