Recently purchased a Honda element from them. Upon dealership inspection, there is 4,000 worth of damage including a cracked radiator, broken engine mounts, algae in the brake fluid, and discolored steering fluid. I completely understand when I purchase an older vehicle it will come with issues. But the biggest concern is the fluid & cracked radiator. They said they stand by their cars, they said they have a mechanic, then how do you ignore these big issues? Oh, it's an old school used car salesman! Beware read more

Honest people. That's my takeaway from having bought two cars from Edward and Steve at Autometrics. They keep their word. Honest brokers, honest businesspeople, kind and caring. With both cars, they've fixed small issues they were under no legal obligation to fix, saving us a lot of time and money and stress. Both cars are going strong -- one of them for almost 7 years now. We are grateful to them, and Autometrics will definitely be our first stop the next time we're in the market for a car. read more

We recently bought a car from this dealership and I felt compelled to write a review because our experience was one of the best we have ever had while buying a car. There was none of the typical pressure, we were allowed to just look around and ask questions, test drive, without feeling hounded. When we settled on our car (2017 RAV4), Edward, the owner, explained each form we were signing, gave us the short version of what everything meant and kept it simple. When we took the car to our mechanic and found an issue that was covered by the 90 day warranty, Edward promptly covered it without any fuss. His prices seemed pretty good too. I shopped for over a month on Edmunds and other sites, and Autometrics had some of the most competitive prices, as well as a good variety of vehicles. We highly recommend this dealership if you are searching for a decent used car at a decent price. read more

My husband's insurance office used to be nearby Autometrics many years ago, so he got to know and trust Edward, the owner. Our family purchased and sold several cars here, and we recommend them to our clients all the time and always hear good things. My daughter got into a car accident with her almost 20 year old car and it wasn't worth it to pay for the repair. She came down to look at some cars we identified on their website, which is super easy to use and understand. The lot is filled with clean title, immaculate cars. We got to meet Edward and his associate Steve in person. So friendly and not pushy at all, but they helped us make a decision by getting to know my daughter and what was important to her. Once we picked a car and agreed on price, Edward spent quite a bit of time explaining each page of the contract, to make sure we understood. As my daughter signed her first contract, wow, adulting, it was a proud moment, and a fun one too, as it was NOT the typical, tense, too long sit down at a dealership. It was a pleasure to sit across the table from Edward, who spent all the time with us that we needed, and not a minute more. I hear some complaining about purchasing used cars and then they have problems. First, some perspective: used cars are sold AS IS, so if you're not sure about a vehicle, get it inspected by your own mechanic, you buy at your own risk. Second, older cars can have issues. That's not the fault of the dealer. If you want no problems, buy new and get a warranty. That said, Ed does a great job making sure the cars are clean. There were a couple of minor issues with the car, so we came back a week later and he took care of them himself, no charge. There's also a 90 day limited warranty, where he will split the repair costs if you use his recommended shop, Super Auto down the street. We already go there, they are geniuses with diagnostics and have lower labor rates than most. I already trusted Autometrics because of my husband's many transactions and referrals, and now, after my first hand experience, I highly can highly recommend them. I wouldn't trust just anyone with my own child, that's for sure! read more

Autometrics - My daughter loves her new car!!!! - Car Dealers Near Me - El Cerrito, California

I bought a used 2009 Toyota Prius car from Edward Rekhtman (autometric@aol.com) in 2018 and I was very happy with how he handled the situation. I would recommend this place for used cars, but as always the buyer should do his/her due diligence. Ed gave me a fair deal after we had a small negotiation. At the time Ed was very clear with me that the car had one big issue - the struts would need to be replaced relatively soon. As part of our deal he told me that he would maintain the current price (which I had tried to bargain him down from) but that he would offer a fix to the struts at cost. Ed let me take the car for a spin and allowed me to take it to a mechanic who said that it was in great condition and that the price I was looking to pay was fair. I ended up moving and never taking ed up on the offer to fix the struts at cost, but after I had another couple mechanics look at it, I didn't even need to end up doing that for another 4 years. I have put maybe another 80,000 miles onto this car since purchasing it in 2018 and have been very happy with it. read more

I recently purchased a used vehicle at Autometrics and I think these guys are great. Good prices, patient, and not pushy. All the things I like when buying a car, especially a used car. They are upfront on what you are purchasing and very helpful when making decisions. These guys are knowledgeable and honest. They will be my first place to go if the need ever arises again. read more

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE PLEASE !!!! Save yourself the misery. My mom got a car here and 3 days later the check engine light came on, turns out it need two new catalytic converters that will cost 5,000$ . The guy totally new it too he just cleared the check engine light and sold it. And now he's saying he won't give us our money back or help fix it . Biggest scam artist ever and just a horrible person. Took every penny my mom had. Pure scum read more

What a wonderful experience. Buying a used car is always scary, but this dealership was so transparent. Offered a 3 month warranty and even gave me 3 days to bring the car to my mechanic to check it out and if he gives me the thumbs down, I can return the car for no fee. Beautiful Infiniti automobile. Drives great. Steve, you're the best!!!! Can't recommend this dealership more highly. read more

They had the car I was interested in but they didn't have the right price for what the car was really worth. I went there on Sunday, test drove it and went back to Autometrics on Tuesday to get it pre-purchase inspected at Oceanworks in Berkeley, which found tons of issues and so I turned the car down. Apparently, Autometrics have their own auto mechanics in Berkeley. If that's the case, then how come they are trying to sell a vehicle with so many mechanical problems? They didn't do a thorough inspection before they put the vehicle in the lot. The vehicle I am referring to is a black, 1999, Lexus RX 300. My advice: make sure you do a thorough pre-purchase inspection outside of the dealer. read more

No haggle sales? Brilliant! After being literally held hostage by the goons at another used car dealer, the sales staff at Autometrics was a delight. When I noted some flaws in the car we ended up buying, they fixed them for free. read more

The most shady dealership I have EVER encountered. I came to this dealership interested in a car. Edward said I was approved for the car I took it home had it for about a week. He constantly texting and calling my phone asking for information on my job and etc. I gave him all the info I need. Almost two weeks into having the car he said I wasn't approved and that I had to bring the vehicle back by 6pm. He constantly talked over me I could barely get a word out. He was VERY rude. And when I brought the car back he said he would see how much of my down payment he could give me back. Said I was inconveniencing him and that he has to get the car inspected and everything else. I don't see how it was my fault that he said I was approved and then when I left I wasn't approved? How am I inconveniencing him? I do not recommend anyone ever coming to this shady dealership read more

Our well-loved (and well-maintained!) 92 Toyota Corolla wagon was totalled--hit and run while parked in front of our house, no witnesses, of course. We had a week to find another car, so we took our (woefully inadequate) insurance settlement and set out to find something we could afford. We went to Autometrics first, mainly because of the positive reviews here, just to take a look and see what we could get on our budget. Three hours after we got there, we drove away in our (new to us) 2002 VW Jetta wagon. I've never bought a used car before, so I was pretty nervous about it, but this was by far the most pleasant car buying experience I've ever had. When I bought the Toyota (new, from Broadway Toyota in Oakland) I was so angry by the time I got home I was really tempted to take it back and tell them I changed my mind. When we got there, Paul came out, introduced himself, and asked a few questions to find out what we were looking for. He showed us something he thought might fill our requirements, then gave us his inventory sheet--with prices--and let us wander around the lot on our own for a bit. We drove the VW, and another vehicle, and decided we wanted the VW if we could get the financing that would work for us. Edward, their finance guy, worked hard for us, and in the end we got the financing we needed. Their inventory isn't huge, but what they have is good quality, especially if you're looking for something under $10K and are willing to buy a vehicle with some miles on it. Our car came with a 3-month/3,000-mile warranty (50% parts and labor), and we purchased a 5-year/100K-mile warranty for a very reasonable price. We've only had the car a week, so who knows if we'll run into problems with it sooner than we should, time will tell. But I feel reasonably confident that they sold us a good vehicle for the price. If you're looking for a quality used car and want a low-pressure buying experience, look here. read more

I found THE CAR I wanted online and as I live in Los Angeles, I called Autometrics. Autometrics provided me with a VERY competitive price for my car (it was between them and another dealer here). After negotiating, I made all types of requests (an inspector to check the car, wiper blades replaced and additional photos) - all which were accommodated. When I arrived to San Francisco airport to pick up the car, they greeted me at the BART station with a smile. The inspector (that I hired) reported that the two front tires may need to be replaced soon. When I arrived at the LAX airport I called Autometrics and advised them I would feel more comfortable if they replaced the two front tires - they did and the car had the new tires on it when I arrived (and this was on a Saturday) and they charged me exactly what the place I requested asked, which was at a wholesale price. The ENTIRE process with all paperwork and documentation took less than 20 minutes after I got there! I was driving back to LA very quickly! Paul (the owner) and the rest of the staff were amazing and friendly to deal with. The money matched and the car was exactly what was promised. I would refer ANYONE to do business with Paul and Autometrics in general. Each conversation I had with Paul was sincere and he did not fit the bill of your typical "used car" salesperson. Everything was handled so professionally and he was sophisticated and well versed. Most people encounter such headaches when purchasing a vehicle and I am so fortunate that I found these folks! DO NOT hesitate to "deal" with another dealer - these people will treat you like a person and accommodate you and are extremely honest. I CANNOT believe this is MY review for a used car place! I am referring everyone here because Paul stated he can find any car someone would be interested in. Only drawback is the car did not come with an owner's manual and although the dealer stated they would contact me to try and get me one, I was never contacted and ended up having to buy a manual from eBay. The car also needed an alignment and a rotation of tires (which the dealer advised me to do). Save yourself a headache and come here. A++++ place! read more

After hunting for months for a used car, I found my car here at Autometrics. The salesmen were nice, helpful, low key, and made it easy to get financing. What I loved most is that there was no pressure. Unlike my experience at the Honda Dealership, which I found to be quite the opposite of an experience. I will definitely return when I am ready for another car, or recommend to anybody looking for great customer service in by a used car. read more

I HATE CAR DEALERS but i actually have nothing but good things to say about Paul at Autometrics! to be honest i'd much rather buy a car from a private seller than dealing with used car salesmen. nevertheless i reluctantly went to Autometrics only because they were very highly recommended by a friend. they had a nice selection of cars on the lot ... something for every use/lifestyle and, more importantly, every budget. to my big surprise my entire shopping experience - from start to finish - was a pleasure! Paul did not push or pressure me in the slightest and very patiently showed me a number of cars and answered all of my (i am sure at times stupid) questions until i found the perfect vehicle for me. the car had a very minor issue after i purchased it and Paul went ABOVE & BEYOND to take care of it. i told all of my friends about it and everyone was surprised with the level of service and care i received. so if you are in the market for a used car you won't be disappointed with Autometrics' services - go see them!!! read more

Bought my car ('90s Toyota Camry) here a couple years ago, and always meant to give them a positive review. Car was in great shape as promised. There were a couple of problems (a leaky skylight and a buggy speaker) which they worked on for free and immediately when I pointed it out. Always friendly and helpful. I knew exactly what I was looking for, so I can't say how they are about pushing you to buy, but I never felt pressured. If I buy another used car, I'll definitely check out Autometrics. read more

Do not buy a car from here! They are dishonest. My fiancé was looking for a used car nothing too expensive but reliable considering we have children. He has always wanted a Lexus he ended buying an older Lexus the first day we brought it home the engine light went on. I brought it back they said they fixed it. Literally days after the 3 month warranty ended my fiancé was driving to work and the cars engine light went on again and just stalled on the Bay Bridge. He didn't get a chance to call anyone he was rear ended by someone going 65 mph! He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I'm glad he's alive today! Don't deal with these shady people cause they can careless about you or your lives! read more

I was really surprised to see bad reviews for this place because that was not my experience AT ALL. The 2 gentlemen that worked there were really polite- didn't try to get over on me at all- everything with numbers was fair (I did my research before going). They took care of everything for me too- Full service, fairness & I got to drive away in an amazing car! I'm so incredible happy with my car & this experience. I traded my old car in too that I knew had some issues (I told them what I knew) & I feel terrible that apparently it ended up being worse off than any of us knew. They took the L really classy & I feel bad for it. I highly recommend these guys but I don't recommend trading in your car if it has more problems than it's worth- It's not fair on both sides... I had a lousy experience here. I had test driven a car and was prepared to do a trade-in and when I returned, they decided that they would offer me less than half the amount they had originally offered for the trade-in; and this was less than half the KBB value. I immediately went to a nearby dealership and was offered precisely double what Autometrics had offered. Beyond attempting the bait and switch, Autometrics seemed to have marked up a lot of its cars well above the appropriate KBB values. I would be extremely careful about checking values before doing business with them. read more

Our 23 y/o daughter had been without a car payment for 6 mths after working to pay for her previous car since she was 16. A couple of weeks ago someone hit her and totaled her car. She was then faced with the daunting task of searching for another one. She wanted to handle everything on her own. We drove her around to lot after lot seeing cars that were terrible in quality and high in price. She also had to contend with predatory salesmen who seemed almost desperate to sell her a car. When she came across Autometrics she was surprised by how personable the salesman Steve was and how great the cars looked. She found one she liked, took it for a test drive and negotiated a price. He gave her an extremely good deal on a very clean car in her price range. On the way home she noticed a noise in fourth & fifth gear that she hadn't heard on her test drive through town. She had accepted the car as is and she figured she had just cost herself thousands more. We called the owner Paul that night, who answered and said bring it back and we'll look at it, which he didn't have to do. In the end it was a bad bearing in the transmission. He bought a transmission with much less mileage than her car had, put it in and didn't charge us anything. Words can't even measure up to the level of generosity he has shown. In a world where people tend to think little of others and less of helping them, it is incredible that we were able to cross paths with someone like Paul. The whole experience was excellent, she got a beautiful car and the people involved could not have been nicer. They flew in the face of every used car salesmen's reputation. read more

I bought a car from them a few years ago. I like the car and my experience with them was initially positive, but now I feel pretty ripped off. Make sure you get any car you are looking to buy checked by an independent garage. It make seem like common sense but I didn't. Autometrics has a garage in Berkeley that supposedly checks out the cars, but my car has had tons of problems. It had stuff wrong with it the first time I took it in to get a taillight replaced. This was just after I bought it, it had a taillight out that I didn't notice. None of the problems were covered under their warranty and I have put a lot of money into the car, as well as having paid more than I should have considering the car was not in as good of condition as I thought it was. They got a good sucker out of me. Don't buy without a 2nd opinion. read more

Autometrics for life - Victor & Alfredo are the best.

Avoid buying from Autometrics. They buy damaged cars and fix them up for sale to unsuspecting car buyers. After carefully looking at a bunch of cars on their lot, you can notice covered up repair jobs on almost each of the vehicles. Also, they offer a free warranty that is a scam. Their limited warranty covers 50% of parts and 50% of labor within 3 months, or 3,000 miles. They have an incentive for you car to break down early on, so you can be charged for repairs by their mechanics, as all warranty repairs must be done through them. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! I purchased a vehicle for $12000 and 3 days after the check engine light and VSC lights came on. I Now know that I should have had the car inspected BEFORE the purchase but I live an hour and a half away and didn't know if I could take ot to my mechanic and then back, regardless learn from my mistake. The car was illegally smoged; the lights were turned off and sold to me. My mechanic found that the car has bad cataylic converters , a power steering fluid leak, and an oil leak. $4600 in repairs WTF. I brought the car back with the inspection paperwork and asked them to repair the catalytic converters, so in 2 years, I can register the car in my name. I was told, "I can't afford to do that." Like I can? I work hard for my money and don't make a lot of it at that. I have made a complaint at dmv and BBB and hope to have some rights due to purchasing a car that clearly could not smog a few days prior. I sat at the car lot for 4.5 hours while he took the car to "his mechanic," who supposedly inspected the car before the sale. I was told the lights are off; there's is a very small seepage of power steering fluid and didn't see an oil leak complete lies. He said the lights probably came on from driving on wet road after the rain . No joke, he thought that sounded like a reasonable thing to say .I was told to keep driving, and it will probably be fine. The lights came back on before I got back home to santa cruz . These people, if you want to call them people are dishonest and have no integrity whatsoever . THIEFS!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY read more

Automatrics were patient and helpful when I was purchasing my car - I went back so many times I thought they might bar me from the lot!! He worked with me every step of the way and found our growing a family a wonderful 2012 Toyota Sienna for a very decent, fair price. Paul, thank you so much.
