BE AWARE: Toyota of Berkeley's I-80 Junction service center charges an additional 3% fee if you…read moredon't pay in cash. This was not disclosed when I dropped off my car. I only discovered it when I arrived to pick it up... after the work was already completed. At that point, I had no real choice. They had my car, I'd arrived via Uber, and there was no practical way to go withdraw $800 cash from the ATM at that time of day even if I could get to one. I was effectively stuck. The repair itself (replacing an oxygen sensor) cost about $800, which already felt high. A quick Google check shows the typical range is $300-$600. The part itself costs about $200 for the genuine Toyota part and my statement says that they took 1.5 hours to complete the work so labor accounts for the remaining $600 of cost which means I paid $400/hour here. On top of that, I was charged another 3% simply for paying by card. For those doing the math, it's true, $25 more isn't a fortune. But the issue is the lack of transparency and the feeling of being squeezed for every dime with no way out. Fees like this should be clearly disclosed upfront, verbally and prior to the work being done... not quietly added when the customer no longer has options. To make matters worse, the repair took three days, despite being promised it would be completed in one. I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision. There are many reputable Toyota mechanics in the Bay Area who do quality work without surprise fees, and keeping your car for 3 days for 1.5 hours of work. I'll be taking my business to literally any of them going forward.

Despite having an appointment, we were told it would take over three hours for a simple oil change, which was frustrating and unexpected. We had intended to bring both of our vehicles in for service, but because of our interaction with Jenny Williams, we ultimately decided to leave. When we asked questions about fluids and oil recommendations, Jenny was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Her tone and facial expressions--including smirking and looking at us as though our questions were foolish--made us feel talked down to and uncomfortable for simply trying to understand the service being performed. Customers should be able to ask basic questions without feeling belittled. Between the excessive wait time despite having an appointment and the poor customer service we experienced, we chose to take our business elsewhere. It was disappointing, especially since we came prepared to service both cars. I expected much better professionalism and respect from a dealership service department.

Lets just say that in regards to pricing and financing hes still a sales man and wants to make his money. However, I am very happy that he worked with me because my credit is not so good. i was able to finance "in house" a decent car at a decent interest rate. I did have to put down a hefty down payment but it worked for me because I drove off in a 740i and I love my car! A couple days later I started having problems with the car. Mori, instantly agreed to take care of the problem, eventhough I had bought the car "as is". He promised me that no matter how long it took, he would rectify the problem, and he has. 6 months later, I was finally able to figure out what was wrong with my care and Mori didnt hesitate to credit my account the cost of the repairs. Making my payments every month has been easy and stress free. I just call in and provide my credit card payment. I have been late by a day or two and its been NO problem! There was visible extensive unfixed body damage on the car on the rear panels with dents, scratches and rust from accidents not reported on the Carfax. It would have required several thousands of dollars of bodywork if I had bought it as is for $16k. I was told the car was a California car when I asked. It was not. It was originally from Washington state. I asked for lower price and tried to negotiate a lower price. They were not flexible on negotiation. I don't want to pay $16k for a car with damage from 1-2 unreported accidents, even if it was fixed. The long term value of the car will be impacted if I go to resell. They reacted like their prices and services are special and don't have to be inline with the Carfax and the market. As a woman buying a used car, I found them condescending and arrogant. I am the one who makes the big money, manages it and makes big purchase decisions. Not my husband. The thing is I can easily find a comparable car elsewhere for the same or lower price with no accidents and damage and buy it. It's called the Internet. If I'm buying a $16k car from a national brand dealership, I am expecting a car to be in good condition ready to go out the door with no repairs. I don't wish to be inconvenienced by costly repairs and wait times. So I will not be buying a car from Albany Subaru. I was also looking at other cars there, I had a budget. I don't feel like they are upfront with their customers, flexible nor truthful. I am unsure of the their cars at the same $16k price point -- as if they might also have similar issues. I don't feel like wasting my time.

I worked with Jeric, and I have to give him credit, he provided excellent customer service from beginning to end. Very professional, friendly, communicative, and helpful. The first repair was around $2,000. Unfortunately, after my dad picked up the vehicle, it was still having the same problem, so we had to bring it back again. Jeric called me and explained that they discovered what appeared to be a bigger electrical issue that required additional labor. I approved another roughly $2,000, so altogether we spent over $4,000 on the vehicle. The money wasn't really my issue. My main concern happened when we got the vehicle back. My dad had two pairs of sunglasses inside the car--one in the overhead sunglasses holder and another in the glovebox. When my older sister picked up the vehicle, both were missing. An employee was eventually able to locate one pair, but the second pair is still missing. The missing pair was a pair of DITA sunglasses that cost around $400 and was a birthday gift I gave my dad. To be clear, I am not accusing the dealership or any employee of stealing anything. It could have easily been misplaced, accidentally thrown away, or something else could have happened. I'm a business owner myself, so I try to look at situations objectively. However, when someone spends over $4,000 with your business, I do expect a high level of care, not only with the vehicle, but also with anything inside of it. I'm giving 4 stars because Jeric truly did provide top-tier customer service. The one-star deduction is because it took two separate trips to resolve the original vehicle problem, plus the issue with the missing sunglasses. Time is extremely valuable to me, especially when my family has to make multiple trips back and forth. Thank you again to Jeric for taking care of us and communicating throughout the entire process.
