I am pretty stingy when it comes to praise. It takes an outstanding experience with a business to get me to write a review. Therefore, it is my pleasure to write a glowing review for Continental Auto Body Shop. I was rear-ended in January on Solano Avenue resulting in my being unable to open my trunk and damage to the whole rear-end of my car. My mechanic, Dana Meyer, whom I trust implicitly, referred me to Continental Auto Body Shop. They gave me two of the best gifts a business can give to a customer--trust, and an experience that was seamless from start to finish. When I seek out a review of a company, I am looking for information that can help me make a decision. 1. Are they professional and do they know what they are doing. Yes, on both counts. Their expertise is collision body work. 2. Is the cost of repair reasonable? I thought their cost was very reasonable. 3. Can they be trusted? You cannot put a price tag on trust. I never once worried about my car in their very capable hands. Additionally, they were pleasant and accommodated my schedule. Finally, and this goes in the above and beyond category. My car looked almost a s good as the day I drove it off the car lot. They had obviously, washed and cleaned her. When was the last time a business did something for you that was not part of the contract? I wholeheartedly recommend Continental Auto Body Shop for any auto body work you need done. Denise and Jose could not have been nicer and it was a pleasure to get to know them. read more

Took my 2025 Subaru Outback in for repairs to the passenger side doors and fender. $3000 estimate was given for insurance repairs with an additional repair to the drivers side fender offered as a complimentary repair. When repairs were completed my insurance company was charged over $14,000 and I was charged over $1,600 for the repair to the driver's side fender that was offered as complimentary repair. When requested, the initial estimate could not be produced. My 2025 Subaru rattles underneath and my steering wheel sticks and is unsafe to drive. They are done with me. They got paid and that's all that matters. What a rip-off! read more

Came in to get an estimate on my friend's car. The man at the counter was on the phone and asked me to wait . He said he'd come out to look at the car shortly. I went back outside. While I was waiting, another customer pulled up behind us. When the man finally came out, he walked right past us and went straight to the customer who had just arrived. We stood there. Eventually someone from the office came out to take my information down, but couldn't actually give me an estimate or any help. Meanwhile he was still with the other customer. I left. I was there first. He knew I was there first I'd already spoken to him. Basic order of service is something you'd expect anywhere, from a coffee shop to a body shop. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Jose and Continental Auto Body are first rate. They've worked on my 19 year-old car three times, each time doing excellent work. More recently, they fixed a loose underbody panel at charge. They're also great at working with my insurance company. They are a very responsive, professional, and local business, and I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

Continental are amazing! They did the most beautiful work on my car, putting in way more TLC than I could've ever hoped for. My weathered old '97 Corolla has not looked this good in years. The price was very reasonable and the turnaround time impressive. My endless questions were patiently answered and everything clearly explained. Great work, great people, great business! Thank You! read more

I have a 1977 classic truck that I love and owned for over 20+ years. I had rear fender damage and was looking for the right autobody shop to repair. After getting several quotes from other shops in the area, Continental Auto Body saved the day! Jose and team were great from the start, from my first call to picking up my vehicle. Truck was in and out within a few DAYS at a very reasonable price. Excellent work. Can't ask for anything more. Thank you Continental Auto Body! read more

Jose did a lot of paint work for me as I was becoming the custom fabricator I am today - he painted this truck I built for my dads 75th bday present - he has passed recently at 90 and this paint job is still solid - you can't fake time - this truck spent 13 years in south humid as F Georgia and now in Texas and I still get compliments on it - I don't know what better review a paint shop could get. read more

TL;DR; I can't recommend them. I had an accident where the rear bumper and tail light assembly had to be replaced. I thought it would turn out to be a minor repair. I chose Continental because of all of the positive reviews. Apparently the people who wrote those five star reviews don't seem to care about when they would actually get the car back. 1. They are nice people, BUT even though I made an appointment with them two weeks ahead, they did not seem too ready to get started on the work. They could have asked me to come in and sign an agreement allowing them to order the parts so they'd be ready on the day, but no such thing until the day of. Once in, they weren't good about keeping me up to date on when they'd be done. First they said "at least five days," then that turned in to seven or eight days, then they said there were some parts they didnt have or thought that they had ordered, but didn't. They said that the parts could take several days. One would think that when repair time and turnaround is the core of one's business success, there would have been a way to expedite those orders. Other times they could not find the part order and said they'd call me back, but didn't. I was calling them every other day that whole time. One time I called and they said "today." No warning. But then it wasn't. All in all it took 12 days. That whole time I was waiting, I had three drivers in the house, and one car, and I had to try and coordinate which days I would rent an extra one. It was impossible to do that well because expectations were either not set, or just missed. I do hope they can see all this from my perspective. 2. During the time the car was there, the costs kept going up and up. They claimed that the extent of the damage was more than met the eye, and soon the entire rear side panel was affected. They had to dismantle the rear door and frame too. Eventually their repair request to my insurance company rose to more than the value of my car itself! This could have been because they wanted to do the best job possible, but for a car that is 11 years old, I could have settled for less. 3. They did a decent job, BUT a week later, the bumper started to stick out and was no longer flush. I'm gonna just leave it, because taking it back and waiting some unknown amount of time again is out of the question. 4. They nicely detailed my car inside and out, BUT the interior had a very strong Windex odor for more than a month afterwards. It was so strong that had to drive with my windows open, and even leave them open overnight. I also had a bit of the finish coat on the roof of the car starting to peel before I took it in, and now it is a lot worse. Whatever chemicals they are using are simply too harsh. 5. There just seems to be a general sense of disorganization there. I just don't understand it. They don't seem to hold any interest in getting the cars done as soon as possible, which I assume would help their business, so they can turn over more cars and make more money. read more

Jose and the Continental team did a perfect repair to my front-end damaged Prius. They guided me through the insurance process, providing extremely detailed estimates and supplemental estimates, while keeping costs as low as possible. Highly knowledgeable, gave clear explanations of exactly what needed to be done, returned my car better than it was before the damage. Highly recommended. Much better than the repair shop suggested by my insurer--faster, more accurate, more knowledgeable. read more

My wife and I took our Honda Accord, in great condition but with numerous scratches, dents, and worn out gaskets to Continental. For a very fair price and right on schedule, it emerged looking like the car we had fallen in love with in a showroom 21years ago. Amazingly, for an extra sixty bucks and in an hour they made a yellowed and fogged front light lens gleam like the brand new one they put in on the other side of the car. I am a builder, a demanding and frugal one. I have worked with 100's of tradesmen over the last century. These guys are on the A+ list. They offer tremendous value. ----- Thanks Jose and Denisse and company, David and Sandra Gerstel read more

Great shop, great service, great attitude! Jose and the team did a perfect job restoring my car. Jose also guided me in negotiations with the insurance. I highly recommend Continental. read more

Professional service. Estimate was accurate to final price and car came back good as new!

Do not take your car here! I brought my car here for an estimate. They lied to me that there were not charges for storage and then attempted to defraud the involved insurance agencies to pay over $6000 for storage. When the insurance agencies refused they attempted to hold my car "hostage" until I paid $800 to pick it up. This is all after Denise, the office manager, repeatedly lied to me over the course of a month that there would be no charges to me. It is so bad that our insurance agency told us that they are known for this and they won't even send adjusters to their shop for the treatment they receive. We did not get the car fixed there but did discover their estimate was significantly higher than other estimates. This is a highly unscrupulous business that takes advantage of people in a vulnerable state after a car accident. read more

Came here for a quote. Got a detailed quote very quickly. Jose even helped with an easy problem no charge. Great service! Highly recommend this place! read more

I have 15 year old CRV, in good repair, with a nice, well-cared for body. I plan to keep her. However, I had an accident and badly scraped another car on my passenger side. I took care of the other guy's damage, but have collision ins. BUT I wanted to see what I could do with my car's now bent fender making my door door jam, and also do something about the ugly scrape along the side. I have been to CAB before and liked working with them. I came to them for low-cost, out-of-pocket help. This time I again wanted some "touch up work" and they listed to want I wanted that would look good and function well, but not cost much too much. They were great. Ask for Jose Cabrillo. For $350, they repaired the door and fender, buffed out a lot, and touch-up painted. So now my 15 year old beauty does not have the perfect complexion of a younger woman, but she looks great. read more

Jose and his shop did a great job replacing a worn door lock which had jammed by a piece of glass. Extra points for great cleanup including a thorough car wash, and the battery jump I needed to leave. read more

My Mini Cooper S got side smashed by a street sweeper on the highway...took my car here (2nd time using them) and they were awesome in their work! I can't say enough good things about this shop. read more

Total scam business. Do not take your vehicle there! The person working there I interacted with was inappropriate and accusatory. Have never come across a business run like this! Do not take your car there!!! Will contact the better business bureau for harassment and false accusations. read more

Strange way to give an estimate. The guy said the owner saw my car from a distance. As I walked in the folks "stared" at me - gave me un uneasy feeling. Anyway, this guy quoted thousands of $$$$ to do the work; (paint). . No thanks. I did read the reviews in advance, but for non insurance work, they left me with a gut feeling of "go elsewhere" and I'm going with that. I'm shocked with the existing reviews on this website..very hard to believe after my experience., read more

I felt I got a fair deal. Went through an insurance claim, and was looking for a place that did quality work. Someone had keyed the passenger side of my Subaru - all four panels. The main guy was out sick the week I went to drop things off, so I worked mostly with Jose. The original guy said he was going to arrange a rental with Budget a few doors down, but they didn't have a reservation. No big deal since they had plenty of cars (but a huge line). Overall, I am ok with the work done. I am a bit sad that the dark gray paint isn't as lustrous as the original paint, but what are you gonna do when you have to get your car repainted. It will never be good as new. The paint is one of those pearlescent dark grays, so probably a bit difficult to match exactly. read more

They were wonderful to work with! Very prompt and communicative-- my car was finished earlier than expected. They took great care of my car and have it looking brand new. Highly recommend! read more

I took my sister's 2020 honda civic in. I spoke to Jose and just by speaking to him he gave me all the confidence that I was leaving the car in the best hands. Even when I came back to pick up the car and noticed an issue... he took the time to listen and went out his way to fix the issue himself so I would be left a satisfied customer. I highly recommend this auto body shop... they are honest, reliable and on top of that they do great quality work... you will not be disappointed guaranteed! read more

5 stars for Continental. I was recommended by a friend so I know the workmanship would be right. However Jose is just a cool guy to speak to and enjoys what he does. I'm quite happy I have a local shop with great service. It's hard to find good time management, quality and service under 1 roof these days. read more

I recently had my 2005 Honda partially painted at Continental Auto Body on San Pablo in Berkeley. I had faded paint on the roof, the hood and on the strip above the hatch. Continental did an excellent job. They matched the existing paint perfectly. The car looks brand new. As important to me as the finished product was the way I was treated at Continental from start to finish: I was greeted on the phone, and then in person, with professional respect; my (somewhat sentimental) request was taken seriously; I was quoted a price below an alternative shop; and the job was done in a shorter time than expected. The exterior of the newly-painted car was clean and spotless. I could not recommend Continental more highly. read more

My brand-new car was subject to a hit and run that did damage to the left tail lamp. Continental was recommended by my A+ mechanic, Dana Meyer Auto Care. The people were attentive, wide-awake, gracious and conscientious. A pleasure working with Continental. read more

Erwin and Jose are such a pleasure to work with! I have, unfortunately, had to have body work done on two of my vehicles: 2011 Lexus IS250 (twice!!) and 2017 Tacoma Truck. This review is long overdue. About a month ago, I was driving around looking for a local auto repair shop to help me fix my headlight -- my car is dented in the front and it was near impossible to jimmy the light out of its socket without popping the dent out, which I could not do without the proper tools. I came across Continental and asked the gentleman working for assistance. Jorge introduced himself kindly and told me that changing a headlight is not the kinds of service this place typically provides but that he was happy to help out. So in his free time -- out of pure kindness -- he popped my dent out, changed out the headlight with a spare bulb he had inside the shop, and after all of that asked for absolutely nothing in return. He is a firm believer that kindness repays itself in time. So I will, in turn, pay it forward to the next person I come across in need of help. Jorge, thank you for your kindness. I needed it that day. For any repair needed on your car, I highly recommend you go to this shop. It is a family owned joint with the kindest folks providing above and beyond service. Be sure to ask for Jorge specifically! read more

Shopping for an autobody repair quote without insurance is stressful at best. I compiled 4 quotes - ranging from $4000-1700. Continental gave me the lowest estimate, so I decided (not surprisingly) to give them a try. The greats: 1. I was very impressed with the thorough estimate Arturo put together for me, checking to find used doors etc.....really putting time to give me a thorough estimate. 2. The car looks like brand new - repairing a massive seemingly helpless dent which involved the entire driver side. 3. The staff is VERY friendly and professional - even when they were working overtime to finish my car they were so friendly to me. 4. Fast response to questions and inquiries throughout the process, even via email. The not-as-great: 1. Final cost was $300 more than estimate - BUT this is still significantly less than any other estimate I found. 2. It took longer than the original time estimate - but only by a couple of days - and I was pretty lax about following up on it in general (I would guess that had I been really tenacious and stressed a need for a particular time, they probably would have bent over backwards to accommodate) I would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

I had an accident with my vehicle during covid and this shop fought hard for my parts and got it to me in a very sufficient timely matter! This review is long overdue, but Jose (the owner) and his crew did an excellent job replacing the front-bumper on my friend, Igor's car. This was back in mid-December, 2019. Unfortunately, I accidentally hit Igor's car while parallel parking. Igor was upset, but forgiving of my mistake. Regardless, I felt terrible and I wanted his car to be "as good as new," if possible. The work Jose's team did was nothing short of spectacular! I was especially impressed with how well the paint (an off-white) color matched the car's body. The fit of the new bumper was seamless, as well. Igor was very demanding about the quality of work done, and thankfully Jose's team delivered. The fact that Igor is also my jiu-jitsu instructor, and he will not strangle me (literally) for damaging his car, is a huge relief. I am only half-joking. Igor would never hurt me (or anyone else) physically, but the quality of work done by Jose's team has insured that Igor and I remain friends; and we are closer friends - after this incident than before, thanks to Igor feeling that his car is - in fact - "good as new." read more
