So I love my Honda Fit. No, I lurve it. It's not for nothing it's called a Fit- there's literally a subreddit on what you can fit in this car. The back seats fold down, or up like movie theatre seats. And it's a stick. So much fun to drive, parks in the smallest spots. Ours is a 13+ yrs old, with fewer than 75K miles on it. I already shredded the driver side door once by merging into a semi truck's huge wheel bolts like a scene out of Gladiator. That was several years ago and was almost totaled. So you can imagine how I thought it was curtains for this car when a biker rammed in the driver door, making it impossible to close. I was ready to hear the bad news about the cost of replacing it again; thinking I might end up with a collision title, or worse. I was even, gasp, looking at replacements. So Art's told us about Car Craft, and everything turned out peachy. It took a while to find a new/old door, but it literally is the newest part of the car now, it seems. Communication was decent- best to do it in person or phone. Marco was nice and explained everything. He knew our insurance adjuster by first name; so it was a no brainer to go with them. Couldn't be happier to have our car back in excellent condition. The small EV replacement will have to wait. And I'm back to opening my door very slowly and predictably... Pro tip: give the new paint plenty of time and air to dry out: Drive with all the windows down for a week if you can. read more

Family owned, attentive staff. They really made me feel taken care of and worked hard to help me during a hard time with news about my car. Best car report shop in Berkeley hands down. They also worked fast to get answer for me when my insurance would get back o me. Thank you Marco and family! read more

I had some front end damage on my car that wasn't covered by insurance. Marco went out of his way to work with me in sourcing the most affordable parts so that I could keep the repair within my budget. He even dropped the price on a few items that ended up needing to be replaced. Communication was excellent throughout and I'm really happy with how the work turned out. Couldn't ask for more! read more

I went to Car Craft to fixed a banged-in door and a destroyed mirror on my 2015 Prius. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work done, the communication, and even the price. I was paying out of pocket for this, and Marco gave me a couple of options for repair/savings. I think the cost was reasonable, considering the impeccable quality. I can't even see any sign of repair myself (including the paint matching). Highly recommended. read more

I was recommended to Car Craft by a trustworthy local dealership in Berkeley after my car was considered totaled during a highway collision. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. The people there are respectful, kind, and honest; especially the owner, Marco, who went out of his way to keep me updated on the status of my vehicle as it was being repaired, had candid conversations with me about what to expect, and kindly offered additional custom services that were uniquely helpful to my specific circumstance. Car Craft gave me an exceedingly reasonable quote for a full-repair of my vehicle, after walking me through the options in detail (e.g., whether or not to get certain non-essential parts repaired, whether to replace broken parts with used or new, etc). I felt good about using them from the moment we met, and I'm happy to report that the vehicle repair was well done, with no surprise costs. They came through on the price as promised and were transparent the whole way through. When the repairs were done, I was given a detailed breakdown of costs for parts and labor for each part of the car that needed repair, nearly instantly after I requested it, that lined up exactly with what had been discussed and agreed to at the beginning. I would use Car Craft again any time the car needs additional collision service. I found them to be a trustworthy, straightforward, and transparent group that provided honest service for a great price. Thanks again to Car Craft for repairing my vehicle with integrity. read more

My Lexus was side-swiped in a parking lot and I needed the car repaired in a set time frame due to travel plans. I had been referred to Car Craft by my car mechanic in Berkeley whose opinion I trust. Marco and his staff were very professional. They quickly assessed the damage and were familiar with the insurance company of the driver who hit my car. They facilitated the work being approved and done in a timely manner. I liked that they offered to help me get a car rental and arranged for me to be picked up, too. Getting a car repaired and dealing with the variety of insurance, etc. staff can be stressful and Marco made the process go pretty smoothly. I am happy with the results of working with him and his staff. read more

Excellent service, great work! C Clear communication and on-time service. I couldn't ask for more!

My mechanic in Berkeley recommended Car Craft to me for body work/paint repairs, after my car had been hit. Marco dealt with everything, her insurance, car rental etc for me, and the resulting work on my car is outstanding. I couldn't be more pleased. read more

My son was rear ended in his new to him Xmas gift a Toyota Tacoma. Marco and his guys did a fantastic job fixing the truck, can't even tell it was damaged!! I had a side issue as well, one of my son's teenage friends spilled lighter fluid on the back seat! The smell was AWFUL and even after getting it cleaned it still smelled. Marco was wonderful to help me figure out exactly what was soaked with this stuff! He took out the back seats so I was able to determine this was definitely a huge part of the smell. He made some recommendations about cleaning the carpet and is even storing the seats for me until I decide whether they can be cleaned or that I need to replace them. He and his crew are professional and friendly and do exactly what they say they are going to do in the time frame they say!! What a pleasant experience after having to deal with a damaged vehicle!! Thank you Marco!! read more

No one hopes to be in a place where you are dealing with car damage after an accident. But if you DO happen to get in an accident, there is no better group of folks than Car Craft to make the best of a bad situation. Marco and the rest of the Car Craft team are thoughtful, empathetic, straight-forward, AND did excellent work on my car. I cannot recommend them more highly. read more

10 stars! The professionalism, kindness, understanding, knowledge and thoughtfulness. So very helpful! I cannot say enough for Omar and staff. An incredible experience. So honest! Thank you read more

A neighbor bumped into my parked car and we needed to figure out if it's worth getting the insurance involved. Justine and the tech talked me through the options in a clear, straight forward way that was very considerate and aligned with my intentions: keeping it simple while also wanting to feel good about the way the car looks afterwards. They were also really helpful in finding a good time to make the repairs while I was traveling so I would not have to rent a car. And the car looks awesome! I don't know how they can even out a bump in the door and repaint it in a way that it looks like straight from the factory - but they did :-) This was hands down my best experience with a car repair shop and they far exceeded my highest hopes. They are great people and all the 5 star reviews are earned and deserved. read more

We had relatively minor, but potentially very expensive, body damage to our 2017 RAV4. The estimate we got from our dealer -- who we like, by the way -- was in the $3,000 range. So we just deferred dealing with the issue for several years. We finally decided to do something about it and went to Car Craft after getting a recommendation from The Model Garage. We can't say enough about how pleased we were with the experience: Marco gave us a very clear, detailed estimate and walked us through how the price could vary based on the possibility of unseen damage to electronics and other components. In the end, the cost was on the low end of Marco's estimate (and less than half the figure we got from Toyota several years ago). We found the entire crew -- Marco, Joanne (the office manager) and Geraldo (the tech guy) to be friendly, straightforward and helpful. They even gave our car a much needed and very thorough cleaning after they were all done with the body work. Bottom line: Best automotive shop experience ever. We wouldn't hesitate recommending Car Craft to anyone looking for collision repair. read more

I got into a minor car accident down the street and Marco (the owner) came to my rescue! He graciously let me store my car at his shop until I decided what I wanted to do or if I wanted to take my car elsewhere. In the end, my car was inspected to be a total loss. He advised me throughout the process with compassion and frankness that often seems to be lacking in this industry. Marco made a really unpleasant experience much easier for me. Phenomenal customer service! I will definitely be returning if I have any more car issues/needs. read more

I can't agree more with all the reviews here. My car was repaired promptly, the process with my insurance was handled smoothly, and the customer service was just awesome. Marcos and Justine were always so helpful. I am glad that I didn't go with the recommended car shop from my insurance. Car Craft - you have my utmost highest regards. I am recommending you to everyone! read more

I cannot speak highly enough about this shop. Marco and Justine are phenomenal and truly go above and beyond to make sure it is a satisfactory experience. For my car I had some scratching on it, Marco was willing to drive out of his way and look at the car in person before giving me a quote. The tech did an amazing paint job and then they dropped the car off for me at my house. I haven't been to another body shop where they take such good care of you. Pricing is fair and he came at the recommendation from Jeffrey at Patti's Auto Care. If you need work done, give them a call. read more

Ok I'm from LA and don't trust anyone with my car so I've had my Camaro hit not once but 2x and Marco has really hooked my car up Justine is super awesome getting paper work especially with insurance and they are my new family I would definitely bring any of my cars to car craft. A driver rear-ended my car which severely damaged the bumper. Thankfully I was recommended to Car Craft where Marco, the body shop owner, is knowledgeable, trustworthy and very communicative about what needs to be fixed and the price point. I always felt he had my best interests when dealing with insurance companies and he would not let me be taken advantage of. I appreciate that he was always available to answer any questions and he restored my Lexus to mint condition. I will always be grateful for the care he took with my car and for the guidance he offered to me as to how to deal with insurance companies. Marco does magnificent body shop work. I can't recommend Car Craft enough. read more

I am a long-time Car Craft customer, working initially with Fernando and now Marco. They have repaired several of my cars over the years as the bumper thumper Gods have seen fit to reconfigure sheet metal and plastic. They have done everything from small, out-of-pocket touch ups to major surgery covered by insurance. In every instance they have been fair, honest, and done very high quality work. While Car Craft has good relationships and is experienced with insurance companies, the customer's experience (and wallet) is their priority. For example, whether a job is covered by insurance or not, Car Craft will advise when after-market parts are just fine, and when it's worth paying for -- or insisting the insurance company pays for -- OEM parts. Let's face it, we don't call or use a body shop because it's fun. There are a lot of body shops to choose from, some may be "fancier," and many would be more convenient for me, but I always return to Car Craft because, again, they are honest, fair, do excellent work, and Marco, Justine and the crew make what can often be an unpleasant, frustrating experience a good one. read more

After I had misjudged the distance from the corner of my car and a metal post in the garage, I found out about this body shop on Berkeley Parents Network where it received high marks from a lot of the posters. The owner Fernando gave me an earnest, no-BS, one on one consultation, giving a free quote and walking me through the repair process. He will accept AAA insurance and has a lengthy working relationship with their claims adjuster, which is a big big bonus now that AAA has moved to the automated adjuster software which can take weeks to process a claim. When I was on the phone with AAA, they made a move to try and get my claim done through the software, at which point Fernando stepped in and cowed the claim representative into allowing the adjuster to come by the next morning for an appraisal. He guarantees his work and uses only genuine parts. While the car was in the shop I got regular updates about the progress. He also noticed that one of my fog lamps was dead (it had been burnt out before I brought it in) and used some of the leftover insurance money to get a new bulb for my lamp which he installed for free the next day (I just brought the car by after work). I really got the feeling of being a valued customer; Fernando offered to drive me home in his car after I dropped off my car for repair. And of course, the work was top notch. If I ever ... misjudge... a distance again, I'll definitely be coming back here. read more

I have an old car. It's not fancy, but it's the only one I've got. The car made a mega-long journey from Massachusetts to California, and I went straight to the DMV for new plates. Trouble is, the ancient screw keeping in my MA plates was rusted, and I stripped it pretty much immediately when trying to remove it. I gave Fernando a call, and he told me to come by in an hour. He tried several different methods, and finally succeeded in extracting that tricky screw - it involved lots of WD-40 and some tools I couldn't identify. When I need something bigger done for my auto body, Car Craft will be the first business I call! read more

Never would I have thought that taking my car to a body shop to get an estimate would be a GREAT experience! But it was. Marco is a remarkable young man - and, as others have said, he's understanding, kind, empathetic and totally honest. I hit a fence alongside our driveway (it jumped out at me, honest!) Since we are hoping to sell the car, we thought we should fix the damage first. Marco gave an estimate, but suggested that we first try to sell the car as-is, and only bring it in if that didn't work. See what I mean about honest? That was something I would never have expected! But it's a great suggestion. And I can tell you, if I ever need any body work done on a car, I'm bringing it to Car Craft. And I'd recommend them to you in a heartbeat. There's a good reason why they have 5 stars (and many of us would have given many more if we could have) read more

Just Excellent. These guys are very detail oriented, and the service is perfect. The insurance claims adjuster wanted them to cut corners and use after-market parts, but Car Craft wasn't having it. They made sure everything was done exactly right. My car looks and feels like it's brand new now. HIGHLY recommended!! read more

Car Craft recently repaired my car after an accident. The Car Craft team were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. Really the best value, customer service, and quality work you'll get anywhere in the Bay Area. Even the receptionist is well-versed in car-speak. Even if your insurance tells you they won't guarantee your repairs if you don't do it at their recommended place, car craft has you covered because they independently guarantee their work. Folks who are dealing with insurance/car rentals/repairs for the first time or the 30th will see that these ppl help you take care of everything without shafting you on prices or patronizing you. Seriously, stop reading this review and go there already!!! read more

Great experience! I got smooshed in the middle of a rear-ending and got pretty bad damage to the front and back of my car. The place Geico sent me was going to take 30 days so my dad recommended Car Craft and I couldn't be more pleased! It took a bit longer than originally estimated, but I think that had a lot to do with my insurance adjuster taking awhile to approve the work and I also went out of town and told them not to rush it at the end. There were issues with the rental place not having a car available and they were super helpful, calling every Enterprise in Berkeley and Oakland to locate something for me. In the end, they gave me a ride to work and I picked up a rental the next day. When I got the car back, it looked good as new. I was told the didn't use after-market parts even though that's all the insurance paid for, so they may have lost some money on the job so it could be done right. I might be totally crazy, but I think they even fixed my turn signal stick's coating. I'm pretty sure the black was wearing off before but it was back to normal when I got it back. That's the thing that really got me! It was totally unnecessary but a really nice extra touch. Hopefully I'll never have a reason to come back here, but if I find myself with a busted car again I certainly will! read more

Fernando was so awesome. He understood that my insurance was not going to be covering the repair and did everything in his power to make it affordable for me. He was very honest about the amount of work and parts involved and fixed it FAST! and my car looks better then it ever did. I'd go back in a second read more

I should have written this earlier in the year but I have a new car now! My car was smashed by a Berkeley cop when it was parked and was nearly totaled. I let them know of my concern with just moving to the area, low on money, low on time ( moving back to SoCal), and I had a lease without gap insurance. With the help of my appraiser, a personally referral to Car Craft, I got my car back looking like I just drove it off the lot. Best part? Fernando was the biggest sweetheart and even took money off of my payment when I picked up the car. Truly made my day! Best service ever! read more

Fernando was helpful in giving me an estimate for my old Honda after it had been in a pretty bad collision. In the end, the car wasn't worth repairing, but Fernando explained everything in the estimate so I could make an informed decision. If I ever need body work again, Car Craft would be at the top of the list, but hopefully, I won't need body work again :) read more

Someone hit my (new!) parked car, leaving the bumper dented and detached. The team at Car Craft was extremely helpful and honest in walking me through repair options, and ultimately did a fantastic job reattaching the bumper and popping/molding the dent back into place - all in less than one day. I especially appreciated their candor and honesty (another shop had told me the whole bumper might need to be *replaced*! Car Craft showed that was *not* the case), and their prices and customer service were great. Highly recommend. read more

Had some small scratches to my front bumper that I wanted to get fixed. Marco was one of just a few shops that would provide me with a ballpark estimate without bringing my car in, and the price he quoted was among the most competitive I received. I decided to go with him because of the stellar reviews. Turns out those reviews exist for a reason. Marco and Justine were extremely friendly, helpful and honest every step of the way. Although I was out of town for the repair and didn't need it, Marco offered me a loaner car to use for the duration. Communication and logistics were as smooth as can be, and the work was flawless, my bumper looks brand-new again. If you need repairs and want a headache- and hassle-free experience, I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Hasn't been a review up in several months and they absolutely earned 5 stars, so here goes: Marco went above and beyond with my car repair-- worked with me on a tight timeline, was incredibly accommodating with payment, etc, and just an all around nice guy. Really, you can tell he's just nice because he cares and it makes for a beautiful sales/repair experience. I scheduled the repair and they promised to have my car ready to go in two days. I had planned to pick up my car before heading to the airport, but when I called it wasn't quite ready-- Marco was apologetic and then *offered to pay for my ride to the airport*! When picking it up on the other end of my trip, he catered completely to my availability and like mentioned earlier; kind, honest, and earnest every step of the way. Justine was kind and very professional- lovely to talk with, efficient on the phone, made my drop off/pick up a breeze. I'll be coming back here for every car repair I need in the future. Marco and company are the most qualified, honest, responsive and compassionate body shop around here. My most trusted mechanic from Precision Motors of Oakland insisted I go the Car Craft to fix my hood and hood hinges. I made the mistake of not securing the hood to my vintage 83' Mercedes before jumping on the freeway. the hood flew up on me, bending the hinges, making it impossible to close the hood. I told Marco I was broke and could only afford a few hours of labor. They stayed within my budget , got creative, and manhandled my hood hinges so that they worked again. I works better than before actually. I'm going back to Car Craft for any future damage caused by me or anyone else. Oh, and they are a long time family owned and run shop. read more
