Eric of BavPro was extremely helpful when I emailed him several weeks ago with a long list of questions regarding a possible 2001 BMW Z3 2.5i purchase in the Seattle area. I took my 330i to a BMW dealership for service and was advised that a simple routine break fluid flush would cost approximately over $350 dollars. Discouraged by this price, I later contacted Bavarian for a quote. The phone representative was extremely attentive, courteous, and accommodating. She advised me that the price for their service would be nearly half of the price that BMW was going to charge me. In under 2 minutes, she had my vehicle booked for service for the following morning. Upon my arrival of Bavarian, I was greeted by staff, immediately checked in, given an ETA for completion and asked to wait in the waiting room. My vehicle was completed in under an hour, which also included a courtesy car wash. I left this place feeling happy and valued. Drove my X5 through a big puddle on I-80 and it knocked all kinds of craziness into the undercarriage and drive shaft. After having some work done at the dealer in Berkeley, there was still a problem related to the transfer case and the dealer recommended a new one. Seeking a second opinion, I took the car to Bav Pros and they did a great job for way less than the dealer quoted. The difference was Bav Pros cared to really inspect the damage, to come up with a number of successive potential solutions and work through the issue with attention and care...rather than jumping immediately to "get a new part!" My recent - and first - experience with BavPro was excellent. I had a pretty straightforward issue with my BMWi3 and they were able to take care of it on the day that I called. There was a question about whether or not to run a diagnostic test following the repair (a 12v battery replacement) and they were so honest in suggesting that the risks were quite small that any other issue would come up. And, they said, the diagnostic could be run any time should my problem with the error recur after a new battery was installed. How many mechanics these days tell you this??! Eric is awesome, professional, knowledgeable, and honest. I come from Marin to see Eric for my BMW. This is my second visit for basic oil change, brake fluid drain, and a cabin filter replacement. I did my work in their comfortable waiting area and car was washed cleaned and service done in about 1.5 hours, very fast and accurate. My first visit was for Dinan upgrade parts, Eric did some custom work on a midpipe that was unexpected and did not charge me more. Honest and legit. Once a year maintenance for my BMW that I rarely drive. I trust whatever services Eric recommend to be necessary, he doesn't upsell or come up with services that is not needed at the time as I have heard from actual BMW dealerships, and those dealership prices are usually higher. Bavarian Professionals performed the kinds of service you wish the dealer gave you. They did a great job outlining the cost of the repairs. Had a loaner car once the deposit was paid. And got right to work as soon as the parts arrived. In about a week they replaced the timing chain, oil pump and relevant parts for a stretched timing chain that skipped a tooth. The timing chain guide was replaced and they found chunks of the plastic timing chain guide in the oil. They also replaced a leaking radiator that the dealer missed on a coolant replacement. Replaced the oil filter housing gaskets. And the oil pan gasket. While the motor was dropped the xdrive fluid was renewed. A new oil change and filter. All done to bmw specs. The xdrive fluid change in the front makes this X3 steer like a Lear Jet. It wasn't THAT smooth before. The budget was very close to the number predicted. It is always nice doing business with Professionals. They alerted me to any extras so I could approve the charges I was able to afford. That is what want from your service team! The information you need to make an informed choice. I added a new belt tensioner, and put a new water pump, front brakes and rotors, and future 02 sensors on the back burner. Bavarian Professionals also replaced the rear rotors, pads and sensor. They put a new vacuum pump to brake booster connector in for me. Recharged my battery. Service and sales was top notch! Bavarian Professionals deserve their top ratings from BMW customers. True Professionals!! A few of the suggested repairs will have to wait.. for my purse to replenish. However I will gladly take my money to BAVPRO for their informed sales and professional service!! I give them 10 stars. Though 5 stars is the top. My 2013 BMW 328i was stalling on the road for a couple of days until going into limp mode. I took into this shop to get it looked at. They charged to me to run a diagnostic check which cost $200, before even attempting any repairs. They suggested a repair that would be $1,400, which I agreed to. After a few hours, they called me back and told me the repair they suggested wasn't the problem and that it would be a bigger transmission issue that would cost more. At that point, I was skeptical about their service and didn't want to be overcharged for additional services. They did change the transmission oil and ended up charging me $700, on top of the $200. Essentially, I paid over $900 for a transmission fluid change which did not fix my car. I suggest you know what your car's issue is before taking it to these guys, they have no problem overcharging you for work they "suggest". read more

Arrogant, condescending, insulting and egregiously rude best describes the conduct exhibited by one of the service writers employed by this establishment. When one is experiencing mechanical difficulties with their BMW, and as such has taken their vehicle to have it diagnosed and repaired, the last thing one expects is to be insulted and condescended to numerous times by one of the service writers. Additionally, my perception is that this establishment attempts to up sell services that are unnecessary, in an effort to generate unwarranted revenue from unsuspecting customers. This establishment also charges outrageous diagnostic fees, which another, more highly rated competitor, said they would never charge one of their customers. Having expressed my concerns to one of the owners, my perception is that he will not likely investigate this matter further, and as such will not take action to correct this unprofessional and unacceptable conduct toward a customer. Don't be misled by the numerous 5 star reviews of this establishment. There are also numerous 1 star reviews, which one should take the time to read before patronizing this establishment. Caveat Emptor. The owners response to my concerns says it all. All one needs to do is read the owners defensive tone and projection of blame in his response to my concerns. His attempt to justify inappropriate and unprofessional conduct, which was exhibited toward one of his customers is unacceptable and should be a major red flag in doing business with this establishment. It's now abundantly clear that the root of the problem with this establishment emanates at the very top of the organization. You as the customer have many options, and as such should be treated with respect and dignity. I've brought various BMWs there over the years and they are relentless in doing what needs doing and not doing what doesn't. They don't try to upsell at all. They remodeled some years back so there's a nice waiting room now. Marta is routinely pleasant and efficient and the rest of the guys as well. The owner is a real gearhead, and that's a good thing. They have courtesy shuttle service to the BART and local destinations - drop off and pick up. That's about all I can think of. About time to give BP another shoutout as it's been a few years and I'm still a regular - they've gone above and beyond on multiple occasions and I couldn't be more grateful to have them on my automative team. Thanks for all the great experiences! More detail: It's easy to see why BP has so many glowing 5 star reviews - I've been coming here for over 4 years now, and have seen many ins and outs of BMW ownership, including (proudly and gratefully) 3 different M cars of 3 different generations. I've also been to a handful of shops in the area, some specializing in BMW, others more general, and while I've had mostly positive experiences, BP is definitely a cut above the rest, and that's why I've kept coming back over and over. The front of house team is super professional, very courteous, and great with communication, and the back of house folks really know their stuff and do great and surprisingly fast work. I've had most minor and some major repairs here - oil changes, multiple sets of tires, oil pan gaskets, AC system, fluids, etc. Because the M series stuffs huge engines into normal size engine bays, the processes for even simple fixes are sometimes elaborate, and BP has always been very transparent about cost, and deals with my after market warranty company directly which is awesome and very convenient for me. BMW owners have a reputation of being all kinds of not so great things, and while I hope I don't typify the worst of them, I'm sure I represent a good number of them very faithfully hahaha. The team at BP has always been extremely gracious and I am very grateful for that. Very comfortable lounge if you want to wait / work (plenty of seats, outlets, wifi) for your repair or oil change, Whole Foods a couple blocks away, and loaner cars if needed (I recommend calling as far in advance as possible if you need a loaner as the place is popular). Also, the car always comes back 'feeling' better, fluids topped up, washed, etc. Overall, a very premium experience at a very fair price, especially compared to dealerships. One of the main challenges of owning high performance cars is getting them serviced properly - I can't recommend BP more in terms of overall value, speed of service, and customer experience.
