I dropped off my sister's Toyota RAV4 after it had been sitting in front of her house form7 months while she was staying with another sister up in Oregon. Her next door neighbor had hit the front of the car twice while backing up,and turning prematurely. After finally getting the insurance information from him I chose to take the car to Allied. The owner looked over the damage and worked with his insurance company to get the repair authorized, and work proceeded. After taking off the front bumper, he discovered substantially more damage than his first, so he called me and explained he needed the car for a few more days and would contact the insurance company to authorize the additional work, telling me he needed 3 more days. They took excellent care of our 2017 VW GTI and did an excellent job installing a dealer supplied authentic bumper at far less cost than the dealer. They also ensured that all the sensors were properly installed and calibrated. And as a bonus, they, at no cost, ran all the codes from the onboard car diagnostics computer, printed them out, cleared those that could be cleared, then ran the diagnostics again, re-printed the results, and cleared again. At the end, I had a printed report and all codes cleared. The work was done exactly on time and exactly on budget with the estimate. This is a review for a service done in 2019. The customer service was not good. Dick did not keep me inform with the progress, dates, etc. as he said he would, and I had to call several times to ask about it. He also told me something different from what the insurance representative said, which is very odd. The last time I called him, he told me that the car was ready already, but obviously it was late for me to pick it up that day. Less than a year later I noticed that the work done in the car was not good as some of the replaced parts started to deteriorate. With about 5,000 auto body shops on San Pablo Avenue . . . you can shortcut the process and for sure include this place if you are getting more than one quote. I've worked with Dick Mitani twice in the past two years -- and in both instances got good quotes -- and then very good service: (nice clean work), good communication and no auto mechanic/body shop baloney (in other words they are honest). I am not Mario Andretti -- but know enough about cars to not get totally screwed (unrelated . . . don't go to El Cerrito Honda except to drink the free coffee in there showroom because they are a bunch of thieves). But getting back to the matter at hand . . . Allied is reasonable and fair in their assessment of what needs to be done for a quality repair. In other words their esimates are not lowballed, as in" "sure, we can fix that dent with gum" nor do they pretend to be the Chez Panise of body shops. They just get it done and your car will look like new. Plus you can run across the street and get a burrito at Chipotle or a tent at REI. read more

After buying a brand new Honda Civic a few years ago, I discovered that it was a magnet to other cars. People constantly seemed to want to rearend me or hit me when I was parked. A few months ago I brought my sprinter van to Pete and his crew and they did an amazing job installing some flare space extensions for our build! We were so happy with the care that his team used to make sure that the job was done carefully. Then they painted the flares right on site, they have a spray booth because they've done a multitude of body paint work.
