I really hate to give them just 2 stars, but it really can't be avoided. After reading these reviews, I wish I had dealt with Tony, but he was out of town during my service and maybe that's their saving grace?
Tim came out for my original estimate. He seemed genuine and honest so despite having some reservations and other companies bidding for the job, I gave it to Bug Crashers. There were some glitches early on, but nothing major. Yet.
They sent me a higher quote in writing than what I received in person. I called them on the higher quote and Tim told me he had sent me the wrong proposal and subsequently sent me a new one with the correct quote. In addition, despite giving me the following in person, it never made it into the contract: In person Tim gave me a 2 year guarantee and said if the termites came back in that time I would be able to use the money I paid toward this job, for a full tenting. I was sold! However, like I said. That never made it into the contract, which is a big disappointment as it was a major selling point for me. I was going to ask them to tent the house in a year no matter what (it is due), but I won't be doing that now.
The day the service began, it became apparent that this job was much bigger than they may have anticipated. Mostly because Tim offered to replace AND paint the wood that they removed to access the wall they needed to treat. It turns out he and a couple of the guys on the crew are also carpenters. However, the wood piece they needed to replace required more material and labor than could be completed in the 1.5 days of work he quoted me. So even though the crew started out nice enough, their moods quickly changed in the long days to come.
They had to leave the job unfinished over a weekend. In addition to the weekend, in total it took them twice as long as they'd anticipated. I felt really bad for them so here and there I provided fruit, water and some pizza to the guys. I even gave Tim a $100 tip in the end. BEFORE I saw the finished product. I know that was my bad, but they worked through some super hot days in the valley and did a lot more work than they thought they had signed up for. (So I did what I could to show my appreciation.)
We go to my backyard to look at the work (above on the 2nd floor) as the sun was shining in both of our eyes and I thank him for their time. The very next morning I go check the work myself (sans sun). I then realize It was left primered; not painted as Tim had agreed. The wood was cut unevenly on one side (almost jagged) and another piece did not match up on one of the connecting corners. There was dirt all over the wall and the stucco paint was sloppily applied and one of the wood fixtures had chips and split wood because of a screw that was not there before. It was just a terrible finish to the job!
I called Bug Crashers immediately to report the problems.
I spoke to Tony who pledged to make things right and said Tim would be in touch. He asked me to text him pictures, but did not respond when I did. In addition, Tim did not get in touch with me. I had to text and call on multiple occasions as the week passed by and finally Tim called back to say his phone was acting up. He eventually came by and made an attempt to fix the issues I had. He chalked up the lack of paint to miscommunication and apologized for the sloppy job. I know that wasn't what they originally came out for, but they offered and agreed to do a job and they should fulfill their obligation. He made some improvements and then promised to come back the next day to finally paint the wood and guess what? HE NEVER DID. He was well aware I needed this job done by a certain date (because of my daughter's 5th birthday party approaching) and in the end that meant nothing to him.
In closing, I guess I won't know how efficient they were at getting rid of the termites in my home until I see signs of them again, but given the lack of professionalism they showed me in the end, I'll be giving my business to someone else if the time comes. Their "guarantee" means nothing to me now since they already bailed on their word more than once. If you don't stand for your word, in business especially, then what do you have to offer anyone?! I'll be sure to tell others I know about my experience. read more
