Walked in on this nice sunny morning to get some takeout breakfast after the Leesburg farmers market. Ordered the Back Country Classic, the Appalachian Cider Beans, and the red cabbage slaw. There were a handful of people in front of me and a couple of families on the porch already eating. Service was quick. The folks working there are nice. Food quality: Back Country Classic biscuit was perfect. Flaky, crispy on top and very buttery. The ham gravy could use a couple of improvements. It needs to be thickened a little. It wasn't soupy, but I would like it just a bit thicker. The ham chunks should be larger and I would like to see more pepper. But overall the dish was very tasty and I would def order it again. Red slaw is ok. Crispy cabbage is a good start, but the dressing is missing some flavor. I would like a bright acid and maybe some seasoning with kick added. The cider beans were excellent. Perfectly cooks with lots of flavor. Net/net this is really a 3.5 rounded up to 4. A really good option for takeout to bring with you to one of the nearby breweries in my mind. They are new and clearly working out some kinks. I expect they will continue to get better over time. read more

I ordered delivery through door dash. I am a finicky about biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a home run. Not too dense and not too soft, the biscuits stood up to the gravy. Unfortunately, like many other restaurants with biscuits and gravy, they over did it with the herbs and spices. In my personal opinion, sausage gravy should let the sausage flavor rein supreme. The biscuits definitely raised the stars on this for me, 3 stars for the gravy & 5 stars on the biscuit! As always, this is my personal opinion on taste, and is my only time ordering. Buford's Biscuits has recently opened in their new location that has more space. This place is phenomenal. My wife ordered "The Cure" which has fried chicken, sausage gravy, cheese and egg. I had "Bless Your Heart" which had fried chicken, Mac and Cheese, homemade pickles and cheddar cheese. The biscuits have a delicious crust and soft interior. Great flavors. The service was excellent. The owner/chef who makes the biscuits even came out and talked to us. They are expanding their menu and will have a rooftop patio coming soon. About a 1-1.5: Man, I really wanted to like Buford's Biscuits, because the pictures of their creations looked delicious! Being in the area, the hubs and I stopped by for breakfast, and we ordered: +the Buford's Biscuit - with sweet tea-brined chicken thigh, collards, and smothered in a whole grain mustard veloute - this didn't look anything like the photos on the website, as the sauce that was on ours was a darker red color; not sure if the wrong sauce was used or they switched up the recipe, but it was super sour; the chicken could have been more crispier, and the biscuit was super dry, even with all that sauce +the Memphis Mushroom - with grilled Misty Meadows lion's mane mushroom, sliced Beechwood apples, housemade BBQ sauce, and onion rings; both the onion rings and the mushrooms were soggy, as if maybe they weren't freshly dropped in the fryer? I wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce, either, and the biscuit was also super dry +Missy's potato salad - not sure if this salad was turned, or we just weren't a fan of the combination of the ingredients? It had an off-putting odor and flavor to it, and it was inedible +hush puppies - served with molasses butter; the hubs enjoyed these, as they were piping hot and had a little kick to them; kind of reminded of a jalapeno cheese cornbread +mac & cheese - the hubs thought this was okay, but I thought it was just way too grainy +apple hand pie - served with chantilly cream; these looked tasty, but there was so much dough a not much of the apple pie filling Honestly, we just couldn't finish the meal and left most of it on the table... Buford's elevated the biscuit to a new level! My daughter was in from out of town and we did our Sunday brunch at Buford's. Wonder place. The biscuits are the star. Tender and flaky and huge! I'm gluten free and their version is fantastic. Got mine with GF mushroom gravy and deviled eggs with bacon jam. My daughter and her boyfriend raved about the breakfast biscuit with sausage and egg and the low country with fried chicken and pimento cheese. Simple biscuit dishes as well as this delicious mushroom and squash-topped biscuit were vegetarian - so not a ton in quantity, but this option absolutely didn't feel like an afterthought and was a perfect first stop of the morning! Taste: 9/10. I have never tasted a mushroom this meaty, period, full stop. The fried onions on top and squash at the bottom rounded it out nicely, and all of it was brought together with a spicy and flavorful sauce that I wished there was more of. The biscuit itself was filling without being dense, and all components held up great as leftovers the next morning. Ambiance: 8/10. This place is adorable! Artfully mismatched chairs at each table, with cutting boards displayed along one wall and flowers throughout. It felt light and bright on a sunny weekend morning, and while there was a steady stream of customers, we had no issue finding a table. Easily five stars. Buford's is in a beautiful old row house with great charm and high ceilings. The biscuits are the star of the show but the sausage gravy, fried chicken and all the other tasty additions can't be beat! My wife got the "Bless your Heart" which was a fried chicken biscuit with mac & cheese and I chose "The Cure" which was a fried chicken biscuit with sausage gravy, cheddar cheese and a poached egg. Both were the best I have had north of Nashville. I do wish they had better than the just ok self-serve coffee (seriously, I'd drop $9 for a churro latte - you're missing an opportunity!) and the parking in Leesburg is an embarrassment to the city, but the food is SO GOOD, I'll definitely be back to Buford's Biscuits! read more

OUTSTANDING CHICKEN & BISCUITS. The fried chicken is so good here they should change the name of the restaurant! On my first visit I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken biscuit which was amazing. This sandwich is good enough to be highly competitive in Nashville itself! The chicken meat was so tender (probably because they marinate it a long time in tea) and the outside was wonderfully crispy. The flavor of the fried chicken reminded me of the well known downtown restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina. The most tasty I've experienced in Northern Virginia so far. The size of the sandwich was impressive. Probably twice the size of a Chick Fila sandwich (and 4 times better tasting). The biscuits here are really good. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. On my second visit Ingot the biscuit with gravy flight. It was wonderful. The quality and execution of their food is shockingly good considering the owners are a young couple (Charles & Lauren) and this is their first restaurant. Simply put - these are hands down the best biscuits I've ever had - even better than my Grandma's. If you like biscuits you will love these. If you're on the fence, these might just be a game changer for you. Specifics: these are "Cats head" biscuits - so called because they're the size of a cat's head (they are huge - photos don't do them justice at all). They are available in regular or gluten free and you can get them plain, dressed up with "flights" of gravy or jam for dipping or made into a variety of sandwiches. I chose the namesake Buford's Biscuit, a sandwich which features a tender fried chicken thigh, collard greens and a mustard gravy sauce that is out of this world. This sandwich puts all those fast food fried chicken sandwiches to shame. For that matter it puts a lot of restaurant chicken sandwiches to shame. The biscuit is dense yet tender with a soft crumb and provides the perfect foil to the crispy chicken and savory collard greens and the gravy just puts it all over the top. For the plain eater the biscuit alone with a flight of jams may be just the ticket. In this incarnation it reminds me of some of the best scones I've eaten over the years. Light, tender and only slightly sweet. Not being able to leave well enough alone - and vastly overestimating my stomach capacity - I also ordered the hushpuppies with molasses butter. These light, slightly savory delights were elevated by the hint of smoky sweetness in the accompanying molasses butter into the perfect snack food. I could see these becoming a favorite snack any time of day. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the decor is quaint - reminding me of grandmas house with its teapots, cook books and cutting boards. There's even a whole wall full of cast iron pans. The business is unassuming, just a few small tables on the outside to let you know there's a restaurant inside so it's best to use GPS so you don't miss it. There's street parking and a public lot right across the street. They are only open until 2pm and breakfast ends at 11am so you'd best get there early. Recommendation: just go! Oh thank you Yelp for helping me to find this little gem in downton Leesburg. This was the last stop on our two night staycation. Whew! A small charming little cafe and we were told they get quite a few visitors from DC / Maryland. I can see why. And as you can see by the name they specialize in biscuits! We had The Nashville (Nashville hot chicken) and The Blue Ridge (country ham and gravy) biscuits accompanied by iced tea and a local Virginia IPA. They entire place is relatively small and people struggled to find seating on a Saturday morning. The kitchen is also small and since they were busy, it took a while to get our food. Nashville hot chicken was okay. The regular fried chicken on the bufords biscuit tasted like straight oil. The mustard sauce on bufords biscuit lacked seasoning and was just a simple note of sweet. The worst thing was The Holler. Short rib was COLD. Cold even when the server brought it out. The short rib was dry and lacked any seasoning. Having it depending on gravy for any flavor made it no better. The gravy was bitter, bland, tasted old and congealed. We arrived at 1230 and so maybe an off day? Or off afternoon since they close at 1400? We ordered immediately cause we looked at the menu on the drive up and got our food around 1320. Phenomenal food, and huge portions! Don't expect to get through this in one sitting, I had The Cure and had to take the top half of the biscuit off to finish it. Great & fast service as well, I ordered for pickup and when I showed up my order was ready and waiting to go, and packaged perfectly as well. (They package everything separately so you put it together when you get home and nothing is too soggy, etc.) My girlfriend had the biscuits and gravy and the sausage gravy had just the right amount of pepper, plus you could have feed a third world country with the amount and size of the biscuits included. A good friend and I took a chance and went here for biscuits. The one I bought was the Nashville Hot (I think). There was 2 pieces of chicken and the biscuit was the most perfectly cooked biscuit I've ever had. Soft on the inside and slightly brown on the outside and it was huge. It tasted better than I could have imagined and paired well with their lemonade. The feel of this establishment was warm and welcoming and we didn't wait long for our food. We arrived a few minutes before closing and our orders were still taken and packaged to go and they still offered a table for us to sit and eat our food. I love the spicy chicken sandwich! Wish they would serve it before 11 am. Food is good and service decent, considering they just opened. But....there is no way to social distance when waiting for your order to be filled and others are in line. It can get really crowded in there. And I saw one of the prep people come out to greet a friend in line by hugging him. And then shaking the hands of his friends. Be prepared for a wait. It's a small shop. We went around 11am on a Sunday and waited in line for 30 mins and 25 mins to get our food. I don't mind the wait when it's a brand new restaurant. They are working out the kinks. I got the Charleston and my husband got the Nashville hot. I loved the biscuit. It had a great soft texture but hard enough to not fall apart. It's also pretty massive. I loved the pimento cheese (it's definitely homemade), tomato and fig jam combo. I think it could use another topping. The tomato wasn't charred like described on the menu, but I liked it that way. My husband liked the chicken a lot. They use chicken thighs which is much juicer! It had a lot of crispness to it and a decent amount of meat. I thought it had a kick. My husband it wasn't hot, but he has no issues with heat. So disregard him :) We also got the potato salad and Appalachian cider beans. The potato salad was pretty generic, and honestly not that great. The potatoes seemed a bit raw still. The beans were quite honestly not good. They had a very odd flavor, not even a cider flavor and undercooked as well. Also very overpriced for the portions you get. I do think for the biscuit "sandwich" itself it's a bit overpriced. I think a small side should come with it, personally. We would go back though. This place is amazing! We came for dinner and everything was so good, the chicken was super juicy and flavorful and the biscuits are the BEST biscuits I've ever had! Especially with some of the maple butter, YUM! My boyfriend had the sausage gravy and he said it was as good as, if not better than, what he had growing up in the south! The mac and cheese and the baked cinnamon apples were delicious, as well as the blueberry pie! The cocktails were new and tasty and refreshing! Buford's has become our local favorite--truly spectacular biscuits, chicken, and sides! Everything is fresh and tasty, with (very) generous portions. One thing we especially appreciate is the care with which the team prepares its gluten-free options (including a surprisingly good cathead biscuit). It's not easy to convince friends with serious gluten sensitivities to eat at a biscuit restaurant, but the staff explained how they prepare everything separately and everyone was happy with their meal (and the lack of any reaction afterward).
