Everyone we met with for wine, food, and vinicultural knowledge was exceptionally pleasant and helpful (Rebecca, Kevin, Maureen and Elizabeth). We planned on 1-1/2 hours, yet spent 3 delightful hours there. The cellar tour was both enjoyable and informative, especially since it was accompanied by glasses of wine so we could taste what was being described in the barrels. Can't wait to return. read more

My friends and I were looking for a winery with a nice view in the area and this place was perfect! It was not too far from home and the scenery was beautiful. Loved all the greenery and they had lots of indoor and outdoor seating. When we first arrive we were a little confused on how things operated. There was no one to greet us at the entrance, so we had asked an employee who let us know we could wine taste at the bar and sit anywhere. We ordered from scanning the QR menu and placing the order on our phones. This place was pretty much a self service which gave a nice and chill vibe. We ordered a bottle of the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve. It was light, crisp and smooth which is what we were looking for. The food came out quickly too. We really enjoyed the crab dip! I ordered the steak frites as well. The fries were good but the steak was just okay in my opinion. Overall, the service was quick, the views were great, and we would definitely be back again to try more wine :) read more

Probably the most scenic winery around absolutely beautiful. The wine (Rose) is fine but not exceptional. I ordered two pizzas and one came out completely wrong and when I said something the reply was "that's what's on the receipt" so first I used Apple Pay and I did not request a receipt. Second the right answer would have been "I'm sorry for the error let me make it right"! After all pizza is an easy fix and not expensive to remake. But that's not what he said. Do that pizza went in the trash and if I ever go back I'll skip the food. Terrible customer service. Previous times were good but this was a major fail. read more

4 1/2 stars. I took the metro from downtown Washington DC to Virgina where my uncles retired friend from over 50 years ago picked me up. It was a Monday, so she decided to bring us to one of the few wineries that were open for wine tasting. Formerly a cattle ranch, this three generation 300-acre estate is a family-owned winery. I discovered that Virgina was the first state to start producing wine since 1607. The estate is beautiful with a large wine tasting area and massive patio to enjoy with their fine wines and offer a diversified menu to dine on. Our sommelier was friendly and detailed with our tasting. I ended up purchasing a few bottles to enjoy and one gift bottle for our host. I would put Stone Tower Winery on your list of wineries to visit when you are in Leesburg VA. read more

I truly didn't know what to expect when coming here but I left pretty impressed. As I walked and turned more, the amoint of seating just kept going. I said wow! This was an extremely busy day. Everyone had the same idea because it was nice outside. The service was also pretty good for how busy it was. The staff was so nice!! All very knowledgeable about the wine and even let me sample some of the wine (Petit Manseng and Port) that wasn't on their menu and that I could only buy a bottle of. They had my favorite wine (Petit Manseng) but somehow I ended up loving the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve. I even ordered a glass of it after my tasting. It was light, smooth, and had a hit of guava taste to it. Very refreshing. Loved my pizza too! I was stuck between getting a pizza or their smash burger, but happy I chose the pizza. My first time in over a year and this winery and it was better than I remembered! It was definitely a nicer weekend so I was expecting them to be busy which they were- but they were also very efficient. They have two buildings and pretty ample indoor and outdoor space. I actually love their harvest barn that has indoor tables and the tasting bars but was not overpacked. The wine here is really good- I'm partial to the sparking wines but also enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and the reserve Chardonnay. The person who conducted my tasting was so nice and she adjusted to my white, rose and sparkling preference so easily. I really appreciated the conversation and background of the wine. Also had some snacks (chicken tenders and fries) that were a good compliment to the wine! read more

Came here on a Sunday with a group of coworkers - the day was partly cloudy (photos attached) - and it was just beautiful and perfect!! The ambiance is absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of photo opportunities all around the property - the food/drinks, the landscape, the barn/gazebos/decor... plenty to see and it is very well maintained. The wine and food was also wonderful! As a gluten free person- they were incredibly knowledgeable and even had gluten free pizza which was delicious. Highly recommend that you come here my gluten free peeps! Service was great. Such a relaxing environment with comfortable seating. Cushions can be cleaned. The staff was really friendly and checked in a few times to give us a heads-up about last call, which was actually appreciated. We ordered the margarita pizza, sausage & pepperoni, and truffle fries--everything tasted fresh and homemade. We had a wine that we loved--fresh, crisp, and semi-sweet--but totally forgot the name. (If you're curious, just show them the picture of the bottle below and they'll know what you're talking about.) Bonus: they give you complimentary wine glasses to take home! One of our favorite wineries - best views, wine, and pizza in the DMV. Our favorite bottle is the Wild Boar Sanglier Noble. The grapes are shipped from California so it doesn't have the "Virginia skunk" taste many vineyards have in the area. We always pair it with a wood-fire pizza. I love trying new wineries, especially in MD and VA. Ive heard great things about Stone Tower, so we decided to make the trip out there. Its a bit far from me, but we took the scenic route. When you turn into their road, its a narrow farm road. There were plenty of cows to greet us as we made our way up there. The area and scenery is just gorgeous! They had plenty of parking and various buildings. We walked in, and luckily they weren't busy, so we did the tasting. The woman who tended to us was so informative and helpful. She even gave us a few additional wines to sample, which I really enjoyed. I told her the wines Im not very fond of, but she actually tested my palette and made me explore things I haven't before, which I loved. We purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed it there with food. They have a food stand on the other side with plenty of food options. We toured the area ourselves and I was amazed with everything. Since they weren't busy, we were able to explore their tower view tasting room, which is exclusive to their members. Its was stunning. Overall, great experience and lots of wine options. Incredible views, expansive outdoor and upstairs dining areas easily accommodate the crowds on the weekends when the weather is nice. The wine is actually great as well! The Nebbiolo is our go to, but have also enjoyed the other varieties sampled. It's an entire experience whenever we visit and appreciate the family / dog friendly atmosphere. Closes at 6 and last call is 530 so just plan accordingly. We went maybe an hour and a half before close and it was still poppin! They have a super cool outdoor area that overlooks the hills (and the wedding guests if there is one). Plenty of bar space and tasty wines. If you want food, you can order at the shack - we got a couple of pizzas. Getting there is a bit of a trek - be prepared to drive up a pretty narrow road that isn't super well paved. This vineyard is absolutely adorable! We came here on a Friday afternoon and we're very happy with the selection of high quality wines, great views and excellent food. The hummus was fabulous and dairy free. They had perfectly crispy French fries, that came with and without further seasoning. There were more substantial food options, but we did not order those this time. The wine was all wonderful. We tried out a few of the whites before settling on a Chardonnay and a Riesling. The service was quick and the atmosphere was just beautiful. They had a covered indoor area, plenty of outdoor seating and everything in between. It's a hot 94 degree Saturday in July and the place is packed!!! Seriously guys with backlot parking. They had a wedding and another function and their come as you are section. The staff is great and they are fully active. We didn't wait at all. There were hundreds of people and they know how to move a crowd! Choose from their reds or whites, it was hot we did a bottle of white and ordered wonderful food from their outdoor food location. Could we actually find seating with so many people? Yes we can. It was like only at half capacity! This place caters to you finding your own adventure. We absolutely loved the staff and comfort and the dog friendly/kid friendly experience. One of my absolute favorite wineries in the area! This place continues to impress every time I visit. They're incredibly accommodating for larger groups, and the views are simply stunning especially in the fall. Their wine selection is consistently top-notch, making it an easy go-to spot for a relaxing and memorable day out. On this visit, I came with a group of 11 girls and we opted for the guided tour (about 30 minutes, with three wine tastings included). It was a great experience and super informative about the grape-growing process and what to look for when visiting local wineries. They even talked about the quality standards required for the wines they specialize in, which was really interesting. We got to see the grapes being processed too, which added a nice behind-the-scenes touch. We stayed from about 11 to 5 on a beautiful warm fall day and were lucky enough to get a pergola for a few hours. The food was tasty, though because it was such a busy day, everything came out at once, so a few dishes weren't piping hot. Still delicious though! Can't wait to come back again! read more

First off, this place is beautiful! Thankfully, when we visited, it wasn't as packed as it could have been. There's plenty of parking, and the winery has three different sections. I forgot the third section, but the first one is family-oriented and welcomes dogs, while the second is for adults 21 and over. Whether with family or on a date night, it's perfect. We even strolled down to the pond, and the vineyard felt magical. Weddings are an option here, and the staff was excellent. We didn't eat there, but the food looked absolutely delicious. It is a busyyyyyy winery. We shared a bottle of pinot, a charcuterie board, fries, and pizzas. We sat outside but could only sit and eat so long before we decided to come inside with the crowd for warmth and do a stand up tasting. I honestly think that for $25, the tasting was a steal, as I am used to Napa Valley, CA prices of $50-$70 per tasting! While I did not leave with a bottle, I was so intrigued with their efficient wine openers I ended up ordering one for myself. I can't wait to come back, but with more layers this time! read more

Stone Tower Winery is probably one of the most beautiful wineries I've been to. Bright green grass, colorful flowers and a beautiful skyline. Perfect place for pictures and selfies! We decided to do a tasting in the Harvest Tasting Room. The employee that assisted us did a great job explaining our wines and even threw in a few other wines that's normally not in the wine tasting. To be honest, the only wines I thought were pretty good were the Rosé and Port. The port is 20% alcohol and can only be purchased to take home for consumption. All of the wines were much drier than I normally drink. You can either purchase a glass or bottle to enjoy on the grounds. After our tasting, we decided to get acquainted with the winery. A live singer was performing, plenty of tables and chairs were available with rocking chairs towards the back, to view the skyline. We got there around 1ish on a Saturday and it was pretty packed. My advice is to go early. Stone Towne Winery has a pretty extensive food menu. I hear the pizzas are fabulous. No outside food or alcoholic beverages are allowed. Children and pets are welcomed in the tasting room, but for winery club members, they have a separate tasting room for 21 and over with no kids or pets. I would've preferred a child and pet free experience. All and all, we were pretty impressed with the location, not so much the wine. Can't say I would come back, since we weren't true fans of the wine, but if you like dry wines and a beautiful backdrop to sip your wine, this is the place for you! read more

We came here on a beautiful hot but breezy Sunday. Surprisingly, there weren't many people here, but to be fair, we arrived at 11am. The scenery is just amazing. The staff in general were extremely friendly and inviting. The tasting room is located in the red barn. We walked up to the tasting counter and asked if we can sample 2 wines before buying the bottle. We sampled a red and white wine, and they gave us separate glasses for each. Once we ordered the wine bottles, they then provided 6 additional glasses, 3 for each bottle. We bought 2 bottles: 2023 Sauvignon Blanc ($39) and 2021 Wild Boar Cabernet Franc ($52). Both were perfect for the weather and occasion. They offer food at this winery for purchase, as well as snacks in the next building. We ordered 2 pizzas: Margherita ($18) and Hogback ($24). The pizzas were very doughy and flimsy, but the Hogback was very tasty, the Margherita was very lacking on the cheese and so wasn't too tasty. I didn't get a chance to really tour the barn and see what was there, as we were on a mission. There were a good number of tables/chairs in the barn area. There were also plenty of outdoor seating under a solid gazebo, and some seating with flimsy covering. We were unsure about the rain, so we chose the solid covering...but then gravitated toward the rocking chairs (!!!!), which overlooks the rolling hills and mountains. There is also a wedding venue, which we were able to view from our seats. Since we were outdoors, they allowed kids and pets. For me personally, bringing my own food and buying the wine is part of the enjoyment. I don't want to be forced or limit myself to pizza or a Charcuterie Box or a separate items that would normally be included in a charcuterie box. There is a long windy gravel road from the main road to the winery. Just be cautious if driving a low or nice car :). Would I return? Probably, the views were everything. read more

Absolutely one of the best wineries I've ever been to, and I do not normally like Virginia wine! WOW! We became immediate members. Gorgeous views! Incredible wine. This is a dry winery, so no residual sugar, finally! And the best service ever. We had Diane, and I immediately loved her. She really knew her wines and did a great job drilling down to the exact bottles that matched each of our palettes. I will be asking for her every single time. We came here for a girl's day and had a grand time! Hands down, Stone Tower Winery is a beautiful, massive winery with stunning views. So with that, it should be noted to come picture ready! The experience we had here was definitely a good one! The vibes, the views, the service, and the pizza will easy convince anyone to come back again. To the food... The pizza options here are fairly unique and tasty. We had the Farmers Market, Sausage & Mushroom, and the Prosciutto & Artichoke, which were all very appetizing. My absolute favorite was the Farmers Market. The toppings just went so well together. We also had the burger with truffle fries. I wasn't necessarily a fan of the burger since it was lacking in seasoning, however, the truffle fries were fairly good. To the wine. If you prefer more sweet wine, it may be a tad disappointing, however, the workers here have all the solutions to remedy that potential disappointment. I thought I wrote a review for this place awhile ago. Where have I been? I recently came back to Stone Tower after moving back to the area. My partner and I first moved to DC in 2022. We were living in California for nearly 14 years and loved the access to incredible wine country. What we love about Stone Tower is that it is a lovely setting, with delicious food and offers a whole area that is kid friendly. We have 4.5 year old twins. And have come to this spot with them, where they can run around and scream all they want with other families in similar situations! There is another section that is 21+, which is a much more elevated experience. And I'm not gonna lie, I considered sneaking away to hang out there for a little! I've come to this winery in the winter and the summer. It's comfy no matter what time of year. Virginia wine is a little all over the place in terms of quality. This is one of the better ones in the region. While a lot of the wines run a little sweet for my taste, I was able to find a few here that I've enjoyed. Overall, this is a great spot. I love the food, and the seating options with its many couches and outdoor options. If you come with the kiddos, I recommend bringing some games. They don't have any on offer, with the exception of the store that has trivia games geared more towards older kids. The next time we come back, we'll come better prepared with games and toys! read more

My friends and I set out to visit this winery and two others on a cold winter day after seeing them as part of a list in The Washingtonian. It was not our first, or even second or third, trip to wineries in Virginia, but all three wineries were new to us. Of the three, this one had both the best tasting food and best tasting food. The sparkling wine and pizza we ate were both delicious. It was also a beautiful, with a cozy lodge-like building overlooking the scenic vineyard, and lots of outdoor tables with a gorgeous view had the weather been better. I would love to come back in a warmer season. However, it was not without its downsides. It was definitely the most expensive winery we visited, with a bottle being about $50--a little steep, and I declined to bring one home. The "butter board" we ordered was also NOT a butter board, but rather a loaf of bread with two sides of butter. The artisanal butters were good, but the bread wasn't warm and a butter board is a specific food item and this was not it; we felt pretty ripped off for the price point of it. This was also a tough venue to be at in the winter. The whole establishment was very cold, and you had to go outside to order your food and then back outside to get it when your buzzer went off. But the most surprising thing was that there didn't seem to be a tasting? We didn't see any flights on the menu or any options for half pours, etc., to try various wines. So we each ended up getting a glass, but it wasn't really the tasting experience we were looking for. Overall, I would recommend the winery, particularly in the summer and if you're looking for lunch with your wine, as the pizza, glass of wine, and view were stellar. read more

Did the Winter Winery Experience for my birthday. Diane was the tour guide and she's super knowledgeable. You can tell she really loved her job and is genuinely interested in what she does. She was an excellent guide! The food was okay. We had the beet and goat cheese salad, which I liked a lot, arugula and red pepper pizza with the crab dip. Dip had a hard cheese crust if you're into that. Wines are dry! I'd say it was a well rounded experience between the rose, whites, and reds. The location was convenient (be careful on the road up, very bumpy). The setting was very nice. The owners have a lot of land and venues for anything you can think of.
