After hearing soooo many reviews about Pupatella I was fortunate to be near one at lunch time on a weekday and have friends meet me there, so we tried a few different pies that we all shared. When it comes to toppings, they do as good a job as most better pizza joints, so I won't go into the specific toppings we chose, other than to say they were spot-on what we expected and we were very happy with them. Since it seems that process and crust are more contentious I'll talk about those two... We had "heard" that their crust can be rather soft, so we asked for our pizza to be cooked slightly longer and they immediately knew what we were referring to and all three pizzas came out very similar and the crusts were perfectly done. The flavor, texture, and look of the crust/dough was similar to a thin naan, almost the flavor of a chapati, they even had black char marks on the bottom, which offered excellent flavor too! Their red sauce is solid and very tasty. The assembly was great! One issue with a lot of places is they don't assemble the pizza (sauce and toppings) properly, thus there are huge portions of unflavored/unsauced crust, but not any of the 3 we got today, they were all perfectly symmetrical and that extended to the experience of enjoying great bites of flavor. Overall, this wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, far from it... but it was really good and I can see why some people say this chain is one of the best. I still prefer Ciao in Centreville over this one and even Orofino in Fredericksburg is slightly better than what I had today. But overall, for a true Italian, chef-inspired pizza, Stracci in Del Ray is by far the best! And for the absolute best in NY style, that would be Teddy's in Middleburg, with Andy's being a close second. read more

Cute interior. Pizza makers all wearing red hats. They do have a bar. Came here for lunch and they were pretty busy. I was getting 2 pizzas for carry out. Estimated wait time was 10 mins. But both pizzas got burned, so they had to remake them. But still, it was not a bad wait. Had ordered the mushroom pizza, which is a white sauce, pizza. And a chorizo pizza. Both were quite good. The bill was in the high 30s for two personal pizzas. I would say the pizzas are on the pricey side, but in their defense, they are sort of specialty pizzas, not your every day pizza from most places. Right now you cannot order to go either online or from phoning it in. You have to walk in and wait. Today my travels brought me to Virginia about an hour west of DC and I discovered a place called Pupatella .2 miles from my last work stop so I drove over. Neapolitan pizza spot in an old pizza hut building with no one inside but the cook and server. The first bite tells you all that you need to know so, since Neapolitans are always a bit floppy, I decided to fork and knife it. Lovely balance of noticeable mozzarella, quality sauce, and pleasant aroma. After devouring the balance of the slice I began on the crust and it was just as satisfying. Soft but chewy, not as fluffy or delicate as I would've liked but still a very acceptable slice in such an unassuming location. Stopped by tonight for dinner. We were seated quickly and greeted by the friendly host. After being sat we were provided waters almost immediately. Next our server came by and we placed our order. My husband and I usually order from Reston, but they were out of Fig and Pig (I seriously look forward to this seasonal pizza all year) so we decided to drive the extra 10 min and try out Leesburg's new Pupatella! We had a group of 5. We all wanted pizza. You cannot order a large pizza but individual pizzas only. The individual pizzas was more for 2 people but that was not expressed to us. The pizza that was served to us was raw and the ice tea was like drinking water. Each pizza was an average price of $15. We attended a birthday celebration here for a first grader this weekend. First, this place should be 5 stars becuase it is honestly the best pizza around for a lot of miles. The reason they lose a star is the service and timing. The waiters are nice, but SLOW. You could tell everyone in the restaurant was anxious to eat and surprised by the long wait times. Classic Neapolitan style pizzas designed to serve one and should be eaten in house. It is important to remember that Neapolitan pizza doesn't travel well for takeaway. Crust flavor is excellent. Good gluten development, excellent rise, ideal leopard spotting, and nice amount of toppings. The DOP Margherita means that it has Water Buffalo Milk mozzarella. If you haven't had that, it is a more tangy flavorful and richer mozzarella that you can never mistake for cows milk mozzarella. Worth the extra money for the extra flavor. We also got the April pizza of the month (the Otolana) that featured zucchini and salami. It was super good! Really glad we also got this to try as it was unique and a bit spicy. Clearly they use quality ingredients and the crust is just perfect for my taste. Hard to believe one can get a pizza this good outside of Europe! The restaurant itself is modern, attractive, and clean. The service is also excellent. We called to order ahead and they were not to that point in their infrastructure, but were very nice about it and will soon have on-line ordering. It's a place the deserves a better location. Yes, it was once a Pizza Hut. The most true to Neopolitan-style pizza in the area (maybe County?). Fireworks kinda counts but they get a little thinner on the dough and crazy with the ingredients. Pine nuts on a pizza is ballsy, but it works. It's a difficult location to get to, and is surrounded by - two vape shops, a used car place that for some reason only has mid 2010s Jeep Wranglers, a check cashing place, and a sketchy gas station - all on a five lane stroad. I feel like if this place was to get a location downtown or somewhere off the path of commuter traffic, it would get a lot more traction. Pupatella is a solid pizza restaurant. I have truly never had a bad meal here. The Leesburg location is always clean and the service is fast. My favorite pizza is a build your own and its tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, eggplant, and meatballs. It is delicious. I named it the moussaka pizza. I was stoked to hear this place finally opened in Leesburg. Took my mom here last night for dinner. Had the arancini with sausage, the caivano pizza and some cold Miller lites. Closest pizza we have found to the extraordinary pizze of Naples, Italy. We love Pupatella pizzas. We started with the Burrata platter. Burrata is a step above mozzarella and this burrata was creamy and superb. It came surrounded by delicious tomatoes and salad and toasted bread. Our servers have consistently been warm, professional and knowledgeable, and John is a standout. Pricing is quite fair. The Italian pop music can be a bit much, and they've done the best that they can with the decor, given that the space was previously a fast food joint.
