Found this place while walking along the streets. We went in about 30 minutes before close, and definitely experienced the rush. I ordered a chocolate banana swirl cone, and the other girl I was with got her dessert at least 10 minutes before I did, and multiple people got their orders before me as well. I followed up to the counter and asked if they could check on my order, and one of the guys in the back who was flirting with some of his friends who were in the lobby, accidentally put my order receipt on the done needle, so they had to go and make it. They didn't even say sorry, it was actually kind of annoying. The ice cream was incredible though, it was just the customer service that was not great at all. read more

Love a local ice cream shop! Visiting for the weekend and stopped by for dessert. They have so many options to choose from! I went simple with a chocolate vanilla swirl. It was so yummy! Parking in the lot can be bit tricky but street parking nearby as well. A few seats for waiting but no true seating inside. The inside is cute and charming. read more

Wow this place has some great soft serve! The consistency is thick but also airy and light at the same time. I got the black raspberry with sprinkles (4/5) and my sister got the black raspberry vanilla twist with cookie dough (5/5!!). The black raspberry flavor was sweet with a hint of tartness. It tasted like the fruit and was very good. However, after trying my sister's I prefer the black raspberry with the vanilla twist as it gave it more sweetness and the vanilla complements the tartness of the black raspberry very well. I also recommend to get the cookie dough topping for $1 extra as they gave a huge portion on top of the cone AND a second scoop in the middle of the cone. The cookie dough was delicious and filled with mini chocolate chips. The sprinkles topping is 77 cents but cookie dough all the way. I'd love to come back here to try their different flavors! read more

This is a classic spot! Very good soft serve and unique ice cream combos/sundaes. If you have kids, get a small - the portions are pretty huge! And for a large/medium can be upwards of $7 or $8. Pretty long line, but it went fast. Service was quick and efficient and friendly. I got the chocolate waffle mixed with a little bit of raspberry soft serve. It was delicious. I'm a huge soft serve fan and have been on the hunt for a local ice cream shop with good soft serve. Gruto's is in downtown Leesburg and has raspberry, vanilla, raspberry vanilla twist, chocolate, banana, chocolate banana twist, and a variety of other treats. My husband and I split a raspberry cyclone, which is like a DQ Blizzard, with brownie and raspberry soft serve. The brownie bites were big and moist and had chocolate chips in them! If you like soft serve, this is your place. Many flavor choices and various serving types (cone, cup, etc.). Limited space indoors leaves only a bench out front and three chairs on the side for seating. There is a park with shade and benches down the street near the bike trail. read more

Some of the best soft serve ice cream in downtown Leesburg is at Gruto's Soft Serve on King Street. They have delicious cones, sundaes, and milkshakes. When I went there was only one person behind the counter, but he was quick to get our orders down and out to us, he also told everyone goodbye by saying "see you tomorrow", I thought it was sweet. There isn't much seating here and there are no tables, so I'd recommend planning to take the ice cream to go. Check them out next time you're craving something sweet! read more

If you love soft serve Gruto's has some of the best in the area - and there are so many options! It's hard to decide what to have. Today I went with a s'mores sundae topped off with graham cracker crumbles but you can have pretty much any kind of candy, fruit or other topping combination that you can think of. There's no indoor dining, strictly take away. Social distancing is still in place and it's a small shop so there may be a brief wait outside. The wait is made up for by the swift and friendly servers who seem to enjoy their jobs serving up the sweet stuff for their customers. There's a small parking lot directly behind the shop accessed via a very narrow driveway at the left side of the building so keep a sharp eye out or you'll miss it. There is some street parking but it's a busy street. This is just a great homey ice cream place and worth a visit for a cool and tasty treat - highly recommend. read more

I am not normally a soft-serve ice cream person. I usually prefer gelato, but I decided to give this place a shot. What really won me over was the shear size of the cookie dough balls! There is nothing worse than ordering cookie dough and getting a few, sad, anemic dough balls. Gruto does not make this mistake. As you can see from the picture, they were huge. I was a very happy camper. There is not any seating indoors, but there are a good number of chairs outside to sit in. You're also in the heart of downtown Leesburg, so it's a good place to stroll with your ice cream. This place is definitely pricey, but that seems to have become the norm for ice cream these days. I have been to Gruto's multiple times but tonight I was very disappointed. I went in with my family for ice cream today and ordered a cup of ice cream with marshmallow sauce, after, family and plenty of other customers had already gotten their ice cream before mine. I waited more than 15 minutes with no ice cream and was very frustrated with the service. I usually recommend this place, but not sure if I will anymore after this experience. read more

Randomly we found Gruto's Soft Serve because my kids want some ice cream. We stopped and we love the tiny shop full of people and kids. I was not expecting anything than the usual ice cream shops, but the lady who was alone was doing a great job. Very busy, but she had a great attitude. Established in 2007.

Gruto's started in Purcellville, VA in 2007, and was purchased by the current owners, the Wilsons in 2015. They have worked to expand the business with extended hours and a longer "season." The Leesburg location was opened in 2018, and the Wilson's plan to continue growing Gruto's and sharing the fun!

This place is just stunning...the dining area, stairs with positive messages, the ordering/"shopping", even the bathroom! The service is just exceptional, above and beyond. It was a seameless process to make the reservation online and edit as needed. There were automatic emails and texts for the reservation confirmation and reminder. Each afternoon tea includes 2 pots of tea, 1 macaron/person, and additional bites (savory & sweet). Luckily, there were 2 of us, so we each ordered our own teas. I'm not sure how flexible they are if requesting additional tea pots for larger parties (max 8 people). The weekdays tea is $35/person, weekends $40/person (needs a reservation). There is an 18% gratuity to all the final bill regardless of the number of people in the party. I would highly recommend the Thai tea...I don't add any sugar or cream to my tea and it was still so tasty. I ordered the coconut macaron, which is the newest addition the the macaron family. Parking: there is parallel parking available in front of and around the establishment. There is also a parking garage roughly 1 block (walking distance), which is free on the weekends. If planning a visit on the weekdays, be sure to read the parking signs carefully. I would definitely return to try other items on their menu.

I've never heard of Bruster's before they opened up at this location. I've stopped by a few times…read moresince. The staff are polite and patient. I've tried their recommendations before, and I've not been led astray in terms of which flavor I should try. They have an array of flavors, and sometimes it's hard to choose when you have a craving. I've had the black raspberry cheesecake milkshake, caramel brownie batter milkshake and an Oreo sundae. They have been generous portions and never disappointed. Simply delicious. They don't have an indoor seating area. You just go up to the window and give them your order. There's a couple benches you can sit on while you wait. You also just chill in your car. It doesn't really take them that long to get your order anyways. Overall, solidly good experience. I would definitely come by again.

Inside was quite small compared to the outside, the line inside was moving pretty quickly. They offer a selection of shakes, cones, toppings, and even no sugar added flavors. I will definitely be back to try more flavors!

I had to get past all the new apartment buildings and park at Market Station and walked a block. The bouquet of flowers here look very unique.

There's 3 gates - the first one is general admission and the second one is 21+ only. If you're going with a group, make sure to tell them which lot you're parking in and where to find you since it's very easy to get lost. There's sooo much seating and it looked like you can make reservations for groups, so the ambiance is great for big parties or to celebrate an occasion (like a birthday or bachelorette). You can either be indoors or outdoors, but this place is very conducive to any type of group energy. Also, there's so much scenery and seating, it's soooo beautiful - great for pictures. To order food, you place an order outside at the barn and get a pager. It'll buzz and let you know when your food is ready for pickup. You can also order wine downstairs by the bottle and get as many glasses as you'd like for sharing. There's also a small gift shop as well. The food was expensive, but good quality overall. They also had an osmanthus flower drink and a signature drink with grapes that was very tasty as well. The hands on part was my favorite. They walked us through how to properly whisk our own matcha and let us practice the technique ourselves. On top of that, we got to sample a variety of their teas throughout the class. The owner clearly knows their craft. Their in-store matcha has actually won awards, and you can taste the quality difference. The space itself is beautifully curated too, with a whole shelf of adorable teaware and gifts to buy afterward. Such a fun, educational experience for a group. Our host, Cody, was incredible and super knowledgeable about all things tea. He guided us through everything from the origins of matcha to how to make it ourselves at home. It was especially helpful to watch him make the drinks and see the proper technique for whisking matcha and what temperature water we should be using when making our own, etc. For the tasting itself, he made us 4 different matcha drinks - all of which were soo good!! It changed my perception on what good matcha drinks can taste like and I think has increased my standards (for better or for worse lol). If you love matcha, interested in learning more about it and want to try some different matcha drinks not offered anywhere else, I highly highly recommend the Matcha Lab.

It's like the put it in a microwave and made it to hot - but I don't know for sure if they actually did that. I'm going to keep this review update at 5 stars - as my Cold Brew was strong and tasty - and I have had many good experiences here - so I will cut them slack for one bad portion of an experience there... And as you can see in the background of some of the photos, me and my family are playing Uno, they have an entire table of games, underneath their TV, and they even have a old telephone booth with books in it! Would definitely recommend this place, and I will be coming back!
