When I was in the Virginia Tech campus, the Kroger there had organic milk in glass containers. They were my favorite milk ever back in college. After a while, I forgot about them. UNTIL NOW at Moo Thru! They sell these same organic milk in the same container. I switched my milk source from Costco to Moo Thru entirely. It's not cheap by any means but I do feel the different taste so I'm sticking with it. $6 for milk. $3 for a glass container the very first time you buy. So, it'll be $9 per container for your first run. Then, you can bring back the containers and swap them for just $6. I know I'm reviewing milk at the ice cream shop but my friend, their milk is top shelf. That's why their ice cream is so good in the first place. It's dangerous though because every milk run, I end up with at least a giant scoop! It's a busy place. Every time I came, there was at least some crowd. Small parking right out front. People come and go quickly so it's not a problem. There's a bigger indoor space next to the serving area if you prefer to sit indoors. All I have to say is that if you haven't been here, you need to check it out ASAP!

Yum! Plenty of parking is available. It's clean and organized inside, with indoor seating. Employees are friendly, helpful, and did a great job having our order ready in a timely manner. I'm so glad that Moo Thru has a store! B and I used to visit their food truck back in the day. Moo Thru's ice cream is fresh, smooth, creamy, not too sweet, and flavorful. They always have a nice variety of flavors. Quality ingredients are used and you can taste the difference. Highly recommend Moo Thru.

I brought my daughter here for a treat after buying her ballet shoes a few doors down at The Cinnamon Tree. My daughter ordered 1 scoop of dark chocolate on a cake cone. I sampled the blackberry which was a beautiful color and remarkable. I don't have particularly refined taste buds, but could tell this ice cream is high quality - very creamy. The owner is really friendly and still chatted with me even though they were busy. It's a small store so be prepared to wait, but you shouldn't be rushing an ice cream treat anyway! It's also pricey -$6.50 for a scoop of dark chocolate (there's a surcharge on this flavor due to ingredient prices) - but happy to support local especially for high quality. I'll be keeping my eye out for their food truck!

Blackberry and Holstein (vanilla with large chocolate chunks)

Newly opened they have some consistancy kinks to work out.... But let's chat about the space... an echoing unit that is open to their coffee shop next door (not yet operational). Inside are 4 tables and two picnic tables outside. While nice with an overflow crowd it was hard to get around. Not sure how coffee shop patrons might like the chaos of the ice cream shop... time will only tell! Moo Thru has both soft serve and regular ice cream. On this visit hubby got his standard vanilla.. I opted for two scoops... one blackberry and one called Holstein which is vanilla with large chocolate chunks... ice cream was excellent... hubby said less sweet than Brusters which is his preference! but let's chat about their scooping,,, Depending on who scoops you might be disappointed... my two scoops were overly generous. Another family who we shared the outside picnic tables with us were laughing as their banana split had two bananas instead of the normal one split down the middle. Me thinks someone looking at a pic to create and not knowing the banana should be cut. Other cups I saw had what looked to be half scoops when comparing to mine... Glad they are open... interesting to see how things shake out as they continue!

This is the best ice cream in the universe. You can tell that there's no gums or fillers, only real cream and milk. My favorite flavor is the cake batter flavor, it's very strong unlike most cake batter ice creams I've had, way better than cold stone creamery!

Really nice atmosphere, service and ice cream. Restaurant had a line and many tables were occupied with patrons. Looked at their many flavors and we ordered 2 double scoops, of a favorite flavor and something we wanted to try. All of the ice cream was as we imagined with the color and flavor consistent throughout each spoonful, no ice chips or unexpected items in the ice cream, each scoop had a very rich mouth feel and was not mealy. While I hoped there were more flavors I hadn't tried that were special to Moo-thru Certainly, the number of people enjoying ice cream on a brisk fall evening demonstrated to me this is place cherished by those that love ice cream.

The temporary truck while bureaucracy permits holds up their brick and mortar store at this location.

Really Good Ice Cream. I had the Chocolate, very good. Next time, 2 scoops of this with either..... Blackberry.....pretty good or Cake Batter....Really Good. Very sweet. I'd suggest a 1 scoop limit of this flavor. Maybe pair it with a second scoop of anything.

    Yum and big portions too

The ice cream is "yum" per my kids and I agree! There's so many great flavors but our faves are Strawberry and mint chocolate chip! The lemon sorbet is also refreshing in the summer. Lines can be long in the summer and it gets crowded on holidays but all worth the wait for the creamy goodness! They are also pretty generous even for single scoops. Bonus points for the coffee shop right next door. Place is clean and easy parking.

In part, that was us not quite able to figure out exactly where it was. Grant Street, it turns out, is disjointed. In other words, it's not like it's just a straight shot from one end to the other. We stopped in here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. The place closes at 6 p.m., and are closed on Sunday. At that time of day, they weren't at all busy. The young man at the counter took our orders, and someone working in the back made the sandwiches. We just ordered savory items, so we can't speak to how the sweet items are (although some of them sounded so good). I ordered the salmon sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with dill cream cheese, filled with smoked Atlantic salmon, spring mix, cucumber, and red onion." The bread choices are everything bagel, jalapeno, and cheesy. I chose the everything bagel and asked for no onion. I found this sandwich to be tasty, but I thought they could have gone lighter with the dill cream cheese. The bread had a nice crispness. My husband ordered the ham and Swiss sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with paprika mayo and filled with black forest ham, Swiss cheese, fresh romaine hearts, spring mix, sweet pepper, tomato, cucumber, and red onion". He wasn't happy with the paprika mayo, as he says mustard would have worked better. Nor did he care for the sweet peppers. Now he knows not to order the default setting for this sandwich but instead to customize the toppings. They work with DoorDash, which, when ordering online, gives the option to customize one's order. There are high tables, the type that are found in bars, for those who want to eat their sandwiches there. The place is kept very clean.
