BLUF: A hot little trendy joint that's certainly packed on the weekends. A good value? Not so much. Service was pleasant enough, but not memorably welcoming nor over & above. Tea? Worth the hype? Not for this first impression visit. $8 for a tea latte is a lot for what seemed like an 8-10 oz cup. Their marketing is effective, because their drinks did not look like the beautiful photos on their website. You might as well steep at home or go to your nearby fav familiar coffee or tea shop. My choice tasted good, but not $8 good. It was not overly sweet which was a plus, but outstanding in flavor because you believe you're getting ultra premium quality tea? Nope. I think I would have been happier and more satisfied by a boba tea concoction or my favorite tea at home. It's a small shop & really squishy and loud when it's packed. I nearly clocked a person just trying to turn around and exit. They have cute, expensive tea sets on the walls, but the overall atmosphere to me felt rather like a fast-foody sterile room lit by florescent lights. Just kinda harsh on the eyes and ears and not as warm, comforting, soothing as I'd hoped. Let's just say that to appreciate great food and/or beverage, either should evoke some really positive moods. I didn't feel that here with this venue, staff, nor the tea. My first sip didn't bring an "Oooooh! This is really yummy." Nor did the second or subsequent sips. It was just ok. Worth the drive? If you're really curious & susceptible to good marketing & influencers, then yes. If you're expecting unique palate pleasing wonder and don't want to spend $8 on tea leaves (or powder) & water, this is definitely not the place I'd recommend. I came here twice for their matcha lab. The first time with my boyfriend and it was so much fun that I wanted to show my friend and his family. I love that they always put out new events and are looking to collab with local spots in the area--it is great that they provide a space and community with so many local businesses. The matcha lab was so much fun. The first time, Cody introduced a sparkling lime matcha (which I find is a favorite amongst those who don't love sweets and enjoy refreshing light drinks), then the matcha guava, and then a rose oolong with matcha cold foam. The rose oolong with matcha cold foam was my favorite due to the fragrant sweetness from the rose. The matcha guava was also pretty good from a taste standpoint point but the syrup really needs to be stirred a lot in order to mix. The second time, I did the same menu except instead of a matcha guava latte, I got to try the osmanthus flower matcha latte and it is now my new favorite! The osmanthus one was fruity floral and light which I think goes well with the delicate nature of matcha. This place is fantastic! I stopped here on a whim and was completely surprised by the amount of teas that I had no idea what to order. Luckily, I was told they do a tea tasting every day so I was able to sample a few of the items on the menu. You book the tea tasting online, and I'd recommend looking into it early since they only have 4 people do a tasting at a time. Cody was the one guiding us through the tasting, and he did a great job. The tea tasting was scheduled for an hour, but we were there closer to an hour and a half. We got to try 5 main teas, and he gave us a breakdown about each tea. He also had us try other teas, like some tea lattes. You also get to take a tea to go. I took the red date pu'erh to go, because it is one of the best teas that I've tried. Wow! What an experience! My friends know that I love tea--especially good tea--and they invited me to Seven TeaHouse for an afternoon tea tasting. Their website describes the 5-course tea menu as "4 Selected Rare Teas, 1 Seasonal Specialty Drink, 1 Dessert." However, what we ended up getting was above and beyond. Abby guided us through the main teas featured on the menu, but rather than asking us to choose one or the other, we got to try every tea and even several from their regular menu. She walked us through getting the most of our tasting from the flavor notes to the unique sensations of each tea. She even boiled some grapes at the start to provide a "broth" for a white tea to close out the experience. There's absolutely nothing artificial about anything in these teas, and you can see and taste the complexities of each quality brew. Each cup was artfully presented with lots of information to help us learn about the harvesting, brewing, and tasting. As my friend exclaimed at the end of our experience, "They don't play with their tea!" Abby was deeply passionate about the art of tea, and we loved having her teach us about all their offerings. As if the 90 delightful minutes weren't generous enough for all the education and tastings, we got to select the tea of our choice and a pastry to enjoy at their tables in the main seating area. I selected a chocolate pastry and the jasmine black tea. The cake was perfectly balanced without a ton of sweetness, and the black jasmine tea transported me to a cozy feeling of well being. Absolutely love this tea house! My fiancée and I first tried the tea when she saw their stall at the market by her work. The tea was good enough there for us to try it when we found out there was a store in Leesburg. The guy who owns the store was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful when we first visited. He let us try many different teas and gave us the health benefits of each one. We've been back many times since then due to how good the service and teas are. Both the hot teas and cold teas are incredibly delicious. You cannot go wrong with anything here. We've yet to try the donuts and baked goods but maybe one day. We also love that there are plenty of teas you can buy and make at home. They usually have deals running as well when you buy multiple boxes. If you decide to sit in the restaurant and enjoy your tea, they have seating and they also have board games you can play while you sip your tea. I really felt I got to taste each tea for what it was and how it was meant to be. To put it bluntly, I've never had tea as amazing as this and it is inspiring when you can glean what the height of a craft can offer. They also offer a Tea Tasting where you are given a guided experience of tasting a number of different teas along with detailed explanations as you go through the tasting. I saw one in progress as I was there and I was immediately intrigued and impressed and it will be a key reason for my return. For most of my adult life I've consumed unquantifiable amounts of coffee and very little tea. This is partially because for many years, at least in my view, American tea was boring and a cup of tea at restaurant X was indistinguishable from a cup of tea at restaurant Y. This has changed quite dramatically with the influx of tea shops from China, Japan, and South Korea in particular. But while many of these shops have opened my eyes to what tea can be, none of them are producing a higher quality product than Seven TeaHouse. I first encountered Seven TeaHouse at a popup tent at a festival in Fairfax. I sampled many of the offerings and got a full bottle of the lychee oolong cold brew. Fruit-forward cold brew teas instantly became my new thing. This one in particular had just 8 grams of sugar but was at an ideal level of sweetness. That is one thing that differentiates Seven TeaHouse from its competition. For the fruit tea/boba tea drinkers out there, you would be astonished at how much sugar is in each drink. Seven TeaHouse gives you enough real fruit in the beverage that added sugar becomes unnecessary. If you get the cold brews in store, as I often do, you can also control the sugar, and I recommend going down to about 25%. The flavor is still incredible and you can feel awfully good about drinking it. I've never ordered one of the milk teas, but free samples are always available and they are excellent. It's hard to let go of the cold brews, but when the weather cools down I might adapt. They also do a tea tasting for $35/person that I'm eager to try. Keep in mind that you must make a reservation and it needs to be for at least two people. As if that's not enough, the shop is super cute and the service is always quite good. Order a tea you don't like? They will happily make you a new one. Need help navigating the menu? Someone will walk you through it. These are things that keep customers like me driving 35 minutes from Fairfax to Leesburg for a cup of tea. read more

A few of us went with him this past Sunday afternoon to try some of the tea. It's definitely a trek from Arlington, but good tea is hard to pass up. The interior has a warm and pleasant tea smell and there's tea bags and loose tea leaves available for purchase, too. Between five of us, we got four different teas to share. Each pot was 7.25 and it was fun trying a variety. EXCLUSIVE RARE CLASSICS (just tea leaves and water) * MILK LYCHEE BLACK TEA - The tea was very light with subtle flavors. There's actually no milk in here, but I suppose it's a more "milky" flavor for a tea. We could taste the slight juiciness of lychee. Overall, very mellow for a black tea. * MILK OOLONG - The tea has a green tint and tastes kind of like jasmine, but not as floral. We thought it tasted like a tea we can get at a dim sum place. * GOLDEN EYEBROW BLACK TEA - The flavor is pretty nutty. While it is also pretty mellow, this black tea had a lil more sass/character than the other teas we've tried. This was our favorite out of all the classics. HOUSE SPECIAL TEA LATTE (tea leaves, water and milk) * GOLDEN MAJESTY LATTE - This is a fan favorite because it's a nice milk tea with a strong tea flavor that's lightly sweetened. It has a bit of that condensed milk flavor similar to HK style milk tea. This was definitely our favorite out of all the teas. I also tried a UBE DONUT (5.25) and it was not good. The donut texture was similar to bread so it was neither soft or chewy. The ube flavor didn't really taste like ube either. Not worth the amount I paid for. Teas take awhile to brew, so be patient while waiting. I love that each table has some sort of board/card game available so you can play while drinking tea at the same time. This bright and airy shop is located in Leesburg Town Center and is passionate about connecting the public with the best teas from around the world through storytelling and education. I stopped by and was fascinated to learn the thoughtfulness that went into sourcing every product -- even the tiny teacups on display are handmade by the family associated with the shop. Aside from bagged teas to purchase, there is a small cafe with made-to-order drinks and pastries, a tasting bar, and tea pots and accessories to bring home. I am a matcha girl myself and was AMAZED by how fresh, springy, and grassy their matcha was. Hands down, one of the best matchas I've ever had....and I have had a LOT of matcha in my lifetime. The staff also helped me pick out a few boxes of tea to take home, based on health issues, and other needs in my life. Since I stopped by, my husband and I have been enjoying a nightly ritual of their red date pu-erh after dinner (helps with digestion) and it's been such a lovely way to unwind after a long day. Besides the brewed tea, there are packaged tea bags or loose teas that you can also purchase and brew yourself if you want to at home! I was excited to try this place as a matcha girl and they are known for award winning teas. The matcha was pretty good but I wouldn't say anything extraordinary and I didn't find it too milky like other comments noted. I thought there would be other options for sweeteners besides fruit ones (I saw somewhere there would be options for vanilla or brown sugar but didn't see those options in the store). I tried the phoenix tea however and I enjoyed it. The cashier didn't really seem to know much about the menu/drinks but giving the benefit of the doubt since it seemed like they were training new people. When I went to purchase something else I was attended to by another employee who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The place in general has nice seating but not too many tables and there were a lot of purchasing options around the store with tea leaves you can buy, pots you can purchase, and some to go options. I first found out about seven teahouse at the Arlington farmers market. They're normally at the pentagon near the new Amazon building every two weeks on Tuesdays. I went to the Leesburg location and was greeted by the friendly staff! We got to try out some amazing tea samples of their hot and cold brew teas. I enjoyed all the prominent flavors of each we tried. They have amazing Happy Hour deals for tea during the week and lots of pastries and cakes on Fridays. It's a very chic modern tea house, but with the traditional great quality of other tea houses. They also have good medicine teas that can help with sore throats and a tea that brews for 48hours!!! My favorite was the Red Date Ripe tea (48 hr tea) it was delicious! It's a hot tea. My second favorite is their cold brew pineapple which is refreshing and yummy! Came here for tea tasting with some friends and left as the seventh type of tea (apparently there's 6 types of tea and the 7th is the friends we made along the tea journey, which is the backstory of the name of seven tea house). Our instructor Cody and one of the owners of the shop was like the Wikipedia of tea, truly a master of the craft. He made the class interactive and had many interesting stories to tell about how different teas were discovered. We also bonded over being from the same area of China (it was giving 老乡). We tried everything, hot teas, milk teas, refreshing fruit teas, my caffeine levels ascended to a higher plane of existence. I was not just drinking tea, I was becoming tea. My favorite was the tomato tea. Nope that's not a typo, they had an off the menu special tea made with smashed tomatoes. I was so excited to visit this tea shop because I had been buying their products since being introduced to them at the local farmer's market. This visit did not disappoint! I love that they have three different stations set up where you can try different samples of the tea. The staff was very friendly and walked me through each of the teas and where they source them from. From the samples I tried, I really liked the red dates ripe pu'er and the fruity pineapple oolong teas. I ended up choosing a pot of their Dragon Well (Long Jing) Green tea and my sister had the Chrysanthemum Pu'er tea as well as a matcha latte. My friends and I just had a tea tasting at seven tea house. I've been going here for the amazing teas for a long time and have always loved it. This tea tasting experience was absolutely incredible. We learned so much and really enjoyed it. I highly highly recommend both the tasting experience and coming in for a tea! Went on Mother's Day. Service was so kind, they gave our friend's mom a flower. Got matcha's and tried all of the lattes and cold drink samples. The drinks all tasted amazing, the dessert was tasty, and we stayed for a long time enjoying the calm and relaxing environment. Went another day to do the tea tasting and it was an INCREDIBLE experience. Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about tea and try a lot of delicious, amazing teas and desserts.
