I cannot rave about this place enough to my friends. Yesterday was my second time there with my best friend and we ate like monsters. There is a big parking lot, no wait and the seating area itself is huge. The staff is kind and attentive. I'll go over some things I ate for a quick review, I apologize for not knowing the name of each dish. What I Liked: Korean meatloaf - so tender and so flavorful! The sauce complements the meat so well. Shrimp and octopus ceviche - one of my favorites! It's light and refreshing. The acidic tastes aren't strong at all The seafood "Creme brulee" mix -absolutely the best thing here. It's cheesy, rich, and tasty. Fried blue crab - sooo yummy. You can eat the shells because it's soft shelled. Cheese covered fish Cheese covered mussels Edamame Orange shrimp Sushi hand rolls Generic Korean dishes: japchae, radish, Korean dumplings and pancake Things that I didn't like or were okay: The soups and noodle dish Egg custard dessert Tiny clams Wings Romaine salad All in all, it's cheap, delicious and I will be back here for more! read more

This place was very clean. I know what you are thinking... buffet during covid? I thought the same thing when my nephew suggested it but I was pleasantly surprised. They ask that you sanitize upon entry then you have to wear fresh gloves every time you get food. The staff is also wearing masks and they ask that you do as well at the buffet. Now onto the good stuff. Their sushi was delicious. They also had lots of options for all ages. My toddler was able to get a plate full and get satisfied. I really liked the fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken. We finished off our meal with the soft serve which was a nice treat and got me out of taking them for dessert. Okay so overall the food is pretty good ( for the MOST PART) but for some reason some of the side dishes had either no sauce/salt like just super bland. the chow mein and the wonton literally tasted like just water. But most of the seafood was pretty solid, especially the one in the little muffin tin, sushi, and the salmon. Meat that i tried was very greasy, chicken curry was straight. -2 stars for cleanliness cause the floors were literally so dirty, not the actual counters. This place is no good. Just horrible. The food was horrible and unsanitary. The service on top of that is horrible. The "manager" was extremely rude. She was unhelpful and maybe 15 years old at the most. Every server we asked for a manager said they were the manager??? I spent about an hour earlier today browsing reviews for a decent Chinese buffet. I live near Southpark Meadows and found a place called, "Chi Buffet." The reviews for it were astounding...from when it opened. And apparently is now horrendous. After looking at four or five different buffets, I noticed a trend. Many reviewers would say, "I should have just gone to Buffet Palace," or "I'll just stick to my Buffet Palace." That and the fact that Buffet Palace is a 10-minute drive from my place, I was sold. The marquee in the center it is in was so small, we almost drove straight past it! We could barely see the sign for Buffet Palace, but we swerved into the parking lot and made our way to the front door. I'll admit, on the way up to the door, I eagle-eyed the plates in front of the patrons sitting in the booths next to the windows I walked by. First impression was good! I'm looking at plates scraped clean, and what food on it looks made-to-order quality. We are immediately greeted and seated in a booth next to the window. The buffet itself consists of a central hub: Sushi, salads, exotic dishes, soups, cold sides, desserts, and a soft-serve ice cream machine (vanilla, chocolate, and swirl; cups and cones provided). The bar outside consists of a self-serve pho style bar (two different kinds of broth and pre-made vermicelli bowls to pour the broth over), fried items (battered and fried french fries, spring rolls, rangoons, tempura-fried vegetables like onions, sweet potatoes, and green beans), proteins (sesame chicken, kung pao style chicken, grilled chicken, and so much more), lo mein noodles, fried rice and steamed rice. I would like to comment that the dessert selection is the most expansive dessert buffet I have seen (carrot cake made in house, chocolate cake, spiced apple crumble cake, puddings, an ice cream machine, fried dessert bread with cinnamon on the side, sesame balls...it was overwhelming). SUSHI PEOPLE: THE SUSHI BAR HAD FOURTEEN, COUNTED THEM, FOURTEEN different types of rolls, all which my boyfriend can attest to a great quality (the best at a buffet he has had). I helped myself to kung pao, grilled, and sesame style chicken, fried rice and lo mein, rangoons, a potsticker, and an egg roll, as well as some tempura veggies. Healthy, I know. But I ate every bite. On New Year's eve, we visited a Chinese buffet nearby and honestly...I left hungry. The meats were cold, and I felt at-risk for food poisoning at that place. Buffet Palace is SUBLIME. Please understand; however, this is still a BUFFET. A CHINESE BUFFET. Do not expect the same quality of cooked-to-order dishes. That aside, the meal I had this evening was hands down, the BEST buffet experience I have had in my life, and I will be back again and again. The total amount for two sodas and two dinner buffets at 4:45 pm on a Saturday came out to $30.83. Also, they carry Pepsi products, so we got the, "to drink?" "Cokes, please." "Is Pepsi OK?" "Well...is monopoly money OK?" But the sodas weren't flat with plenty of ice so that's all we can ask for. It was loud, but I could still speak across the table. Our waitress was astounding. It's just a buffet...all I expect is someone to refill my drinks. Our waitress was attentive, filling up our drinks the moment they reached the bottom third. I started with a Pepsi then asked for a Mountain Dew. She was actually concerned that I might have been displeased with the Pepsi. I assured her everything was fine, and she thanked me. Every time I visit Austin, I make it a point to visit Buffet Palace. It's consistently given my family a great experience for many years. I come in mainly for the California rolls. I am in love with the variety. Everything is always fresh and hygienic on the buffet floor. I love the wide open, comfortable atmosphere of the dining area. Where I live, buffet dining areas are always cramped, loud and congested. That's never the case here. I love the soft serve! It's so yummy, I have no need for other desserts. Pls for your safety do not eat here. I got one plate with the sesame chicken and there was this black mass with hair on it. The owner came over and dissected the mass in front of us but still tried to charge us. She said the black mass was nothing but refused to tell us what it was. She even said that she would eat the mass. I am absolutely disgusted. I honestly really like this buffet! They have a great Sushi selection and some great entrees and salads. I like to eat healthy and find I can do that which is refreshing for a Chinese buffet. I give 4 stars simply because some days are fresher than others. I recommend going during the busy lunch hour or not too late in the evening. Other than that, it doesn't disappoint for the price. honestly, this place is not good. it's extremely dirty and the food is just not good. nothing tasted good, and the customer service was no better. our server was rude and then when asked for the manager she told us there wasn't one. they were on "vacation". we asked if there was another option and she very rudely replied, "no i'm the best option" when she is at the most 16 years old. someone else in my group asked another employee if there was a manager, she told him they were trained to say there is no manager? for 100$ bill the food and quality was ridiculous on top of the service. they were all extremely rude and it's astonishing. this place is not a good find, hidden gem, nor anything similar. not to mention the bathrooms were extremely dirty, and a server spilled a bunch of water and the staff laid tons of newspaper on the spill and left thru our whole experience there. and then only cleaned it up because my group said something about it. unfortunate for these people and this staff. not to mention, they had very little options, and bad ones at that. One of the best deals in fine food available. Your choice of prime rib, charcoal grilled ribeyes, and you can come back for seconds as often as you like. It has the advantage of being able to enjoy numerous dining options instead of being stuck with a meal you don't like. Just go try something else if not satisfied. First, I'm going to say that I really like the food here. I don't generally go for all the typical fried Chinese fare, but they have some great options that stray from the norm enough to make sure we stop by here if we happen to find ourselves on the south side of town. In particular I like the Korean options and most of the sushi options are better than you generally expect from a buffet. I've been noticing the place is steadily going downhill over the past few years, all the while the prices continue to go up. This weekend, for my wife, my 10-year-old son, and myself to eat plus a couple of drinks and a tip was $50. The floors and tables were disgusting. Food was EVERYWHERE, we were tiptoeing over spills, and dealing with a combination of sliding and sticking to the floors. I already know not to go in the bathroom. In the past I've seen this as just understanding life at a busy buffet and accepting what it's like to eat at the trough. Now, the building is even getting worse, and I'm not sure I can continue to go here. The ceiling was water damaged in a number of places, with visible black mold growing and drywall missing. We don't usually get seated on the left side, so maybe it's been this way all along. And this is what you SEE...no telling what it's like in the back. This is exactly what happened to their Round Rock location, and we had to stop going there when it got to this level. I wonder why this place hasn't been shut down before...or has it? No one but us seemed to care, and people were still standing out the door waiting to be seated when we left. read more

I am glad that I went to Buffet Palace. When I go to Chinese buffet, I crave for certain foods such as saltened blueCrab, crawfish, and hot soups mainly. Anything else are supporting casts. This place serves KOREAN FOODS so, it was distinctly standout among other Chinese Buffets... Korean ribs, Rib minced n caked, Kimchi, Jjapchae, and other side dishes. They also served seafood soup, Kimchi & pork soup besides the sweet & sour soup and egg soup. The soups were served with right temperature, HOT. The crawfishes were hot because I got some when a freshly cooked batch came out. But, the bluecrabs were still cold even with a new batch. I had better quality and seasoning elsewhere. Other menus like sushi are not worth mentioning... If you want better quality, must to go to specialty restaurants, not a buffet. Dinner on Thursday night was $15.99. Let's start with the good. The table server was excellent. He checked on the us just the right amount of times. And the desserts were very good, and the Korean selections were pretty good. But the Chinese food was mostly very poor...bad quality and poorly seasoned. Even the rice was bad. And the hot and sour soup was inedible. It's basic, not a foodie paradise, fresh, and fulfills its function. Nothing they serve is memorable yet none of it is bad. It's also relatively cheap, especially compared to the soaring prices of restaurants these days. I don't know why I came to this place, it's such poor quality, the staff are rude, and the price is almost comical. Pretty decent buffet food with a wide selection. Some things I recommend are the miso soup, coconut lime cake, egg drop soup, dynamite roll, and baked mussels. Do not get the bossam (pork belly). It has too much fat, and it was just not good at all. Restaurant tends to be busy especially on weekend lunch. But you hardly will have to wait to get a table. I had came to Texas when my brother was stationed near Round Rock , Years ago they had another location near Round Rock , that is now closed , but happy to see this one location was open Now I am rating this based of the food and measures taken during COVID First , I like how they have reusable plastic gloves to use every time you help yourself to the buffet , now for me , I would suggest you come right when they open personal , I find the food was fresh and hot , I can't speak on the quality if you go another time of day . But the employees who worked in that area seemed consistent with checking if the food was getting low , so I do appreciate that , now the service was ok , me and hubby got both sodas but my Pepsi was flat and his soda didn't have enough sugar / syrup , it was hard explaining to our waitress so , just ended up with water other then that I will return for the food not the service . read more

Highlights: sushi, most meats, salads Lowlights: desserts, seafood, rice/noodles TL;DR - For an under $15 buffet, this is about the best you can get. The quality of the food is superb for its price and the variety of selections was impressive. Service was 9/10. Few things to watch out for, but you can't go wrong with most of the dishes. Having grown up on solely authentic Korean food, I can definitely say you're not going to find an all-you-can-eat for this price, quality, and authenticity in Austin! Round 1: Salads I was quite surprised by the quality of salads at the buffet. Most of the ones I've been to offer build your owns, but the salads here are not only pre-made but delicious! I tried both the Asian-style Caesar salad and the imitation crab meat salad. Both were delectable and I went back for more the second round. Round 2: Meats Generally speaking, the meats were what you would expect from a Chinese/Korean buffet. If you want some solid galbi, orange chicken, fried nuggets, etc. you'll get that here. The tteok-galbi was exceptional. Be wary of the bossam (). The meat itself as well as the ssamjang (dipping sauce) was not very good. Round 3: Rice/Noodles The fried rice and stir-fried noodles were at best OK. I've definitely had better at buffets, but then again this is not what you want to be eating the most of at buffets so focus your time elsewhere. Round 4: Sushi This was probably one of the best parts of the buffet. For a buffet, they have quite an arrangement of sushi ranging from your classic California rolls to tiger rolls and spicy tuna rolls. If you look around the middle they have hand rolls, too! The spicy rolls were a little spicier than I expected but still very good. Flavor is great for all the rolls! Round 5: Seafood This was probably the pitfall of the buffet. The seafood was not good. The fish fillet was bland and whatever they put on top didn't help it any. The crab was not seasoned properly and had very little meat. This is usually where you get your "money's worth" at a buffet, but it'll be an uphill battle at this location. Round 6: Desserts The desserts here are also not very good. Virtually everything is too dry (cakes/bread). Go for the fruit because they were surprisingly sweet and ripe. The pineapple was the best for me (it also helps with digestion!) Service - Was seated quickly and everything we requested was brought promptly. Only issue was when we paid and forgot about the coupon, they refused to redo the check. It was our fault for forgetting, but most restaurants will void the transaction and redo it to include the discount but we were told they couldn't do that. The waitress still seemed genuinely apologetic so all is forgiven. Can't beat the price anyway. read more

As a native Austinite, I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 25-30 years, even back when it was at its original location in Sunset Valley Marketfair. I ate here as a kid and I have brought my own kids here also. But after my most recent experience I will NEVER return. All of the food on the buffet was cold, hard, and downright inedible. Literally nothing was fresh. It honestly tasted like it could have been sitting there for a day or more. Many of the trays (of both sushi and hot food) were completely wiped out and not being replenished, even though I'd paid almost $17.00 for the buffet. I literally ate 3 bites, paid my bill and left. It was absolutely disgusting and the downhill slide is unreal. I as busy parent, I would normally not take the time to even leave a Yelp review, but wanted to warn others that this is NOT the place to spend your money. Buyer beware! read more

Best Chinese buffet in Austin, in my opinion. I like the sushi, Korean bbq and crab in the weekend.

This is the best Asian buffet I've ever been to, across the board. I was so impressed by the selection and by the Korean barbecue. It was so insanely delicious. The sushi selection was awesome, too. It was really Busy and the serving tables were chaotic, but food that good is going to draw and keep a crowd. They have a sign in the lobby that says "please don't let your kids run around crazy" or something to that extent, which I love. Awesome food- would recommend to anyone. read more

We have been going to Buffet Palace for 20 years or so. And for the money and quality of the food, it was worth the 40-minute drive from where we live. Yet over the years, I will say the building itself has become quite run down. Last night we wanted a Chinese buffet really bad, so made the drive. They list on their website and on the window outside the restaurant, that they are open until 9:30. We got there at 9 pm. When we walked in, most of tables had chairs up, as restaurants do when they're closing. The host told us they were closing in 10 minutes. Say what?! The reason we were given is that they were going to be doing a "deep cleaning" of the restaurant. Ok, I get that, but why not wait 20 minutes, until they close. We opted to stay, as we had come so far. The food had not been refreshed in some time, which was obvious. It was the worst quality and worst tasting ever. And the whole time we were there, the wait person kept asking us if we wanted more food, and if so, that we should get up there as they'll be tearing the food down. Nothing makes for a relaxing dinner, then to be told to hurry up. For some reason, I had thought we might be offered a discount of some sort, yet no. We paid the full price, of almost $40. Was so not worth it, and I really doubt we'll be going back there anytime soon, if at all. This place is really going downhill fast, and I doubt will make it much longer. Delicious mix of asian food...Korean, Japanese, Chinese. As with all buffets...the busier it is, the faster the food turns over and the fresher it is. The slower it is, the longer the food sits. That being said, the Sunday after-church crowd is CRAZY BUSY! But they do serve more crab options (deep fried crab AND raw crab). During the week, their prices are a little bit less expensive, and they're less busy. Am always happy to bring our visiting friends and family here! read more
