I rented a car from Hertz recently for a trip to Portland…read more Booking the reservation through Expedia was easy, as was calling Hertz and correcting the dates I had the car reserved because I was a day off... I get there and get ready to get the car, but pretty much every computer was frozen so that was cool. Luckily the guy helping me was nice. I then was told we'd have to do a credit check for the car because I was using a debit card... What? If I'm going to pay for this reservation right now, what's the purpose of that? I've booked through other rental services before and haven't been hit with that, so that caught me off guard. I was told that the final price would be around $87 for the total rental... I was charged $208. And that's AFTER the $200 hold was lifted that they applied to the card upon renting. Won't use Hertz again. Nice employees, but the way the business is ran itself is ridiculous as they are just looking to charge you for things you shouldn't be charged for.

I arrived and was really told by the manager that the car that I booked was not available and the only car available with $60 more. She was very curt and rude and I ended up just walking out. I've tried to book rental car locations at three separate Hertz locations and each time have been each have been told the cars are oversold. Terrible terrible terrible business practices.

When I called to confirm my rental he recalled chatting with me the month prior. He picked us up at the airport and chatted us up about our stay and we learned a lot about his experience in Kent and his experience as a rally race car driver! A personable touch which I appreciated and you often get with local businesses. The checkout process was incredibly straightforward with no frills. Provide payment and proof of insurance, do an inspection of the vehicle and you are on your way. Just a heads up, the cars are used, but they are well maintained. When we experienced issues with the car Lui was quick to respond and resolve our issues. I look forward to booking with Mashariki Rent A Car during my next trip to Seattle.

As I was pondering to get the job done at Hinshaw's, one of their employees was driving very aggressively in the parking lot and almost hit my wife twice -- so we decided to leave because of that and the shop looked dark and empty, like they were low on staffing -- despite their claim that they were "swamped". I think things have changed there, the customer service is not as good. I went there with my wife and her car as well to get a different estimate done, and it just seems like both vehicles had too high an estimate for what was mostly superficial damage. The knowledge of the staff is not that great and the courtesy of course is the worst, when you have to dodge cars in the parking lot. Needless to say, we went to a different body shop

Originally we were offered a compact car, but Caleb (manager), speaking to the main office, said we were an elderly couple and getting in & out of a small car. Ended up taking an uber to this location in Puyallup . When I got there I was informed that there would be a long wait to pick up the car. Lots of people came in right after me. The place was closing in 20 minutes. And they were severely understaffed. (this seems the case all too often, in the quest to use AI to depersonalize large businesses & optimize profit) The Staff on hand that day were truly amazing. Doing their best in a difficult work environment. Especially Rachel who was in car detail dept but took charge that afternoon.. She informed everyone of the long wait. Ran around like an athlete, checking out the vehicles. And yet dealing gracefully with disgruntled customers. This review has is 4 star vs the 5 due to the understaff issue. Enterprise has always been my go to for car rentals..I certainly hope they will figure out their staffing situation. It really puts undue stress on their employees.

Tips for anyone who wants to use this company: -NOT ALL LOCATIONS HAVE ALL TRUCKS! Twice I've rented from them and both times I rented a 14 foot truck and ended up with a 16 foot truck. The employees told me that this location doesn't carry anything smaller and that their corporate site doesn't even consider that. This location ends up losing money since they constantly have to rent larger trucks out for a discount because of this error. -Reserve under the NAME OF THE DRIVER. If you, like me, aren't familiar with driving something nearly the size of a semi, you'll find someone either family or friend to drive the truck. However, if you're not driving the truck, they won't rent to you. So the Driver must make the reservation if you want it to be painless. ALSO if you reserve the truck and they end up putting the rental under the driver's name, expect to be charged a "NO SHOW FEE". Even if you were physically in the office! And that takes about 5-7 days to be returned to you. -Cash Deposit or credit card. Do not use your debit card and expect 2-3 days before the hold releases. If it's a cash deposit, then they'll give you the difference and it helps so that it doesn't matter if the driver is you. But my best recommendation? AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
