First they try to tell you you can't get a loan unless you take the extended maintenance policy, which is an outright lie they say the bank won't give you the loan unless you take it. A simple Google search will tell you that that's a lie. Then they try and tell you that you have to pay for your catalytic converter to be etched on the catalytic converter line number two a simple girl Google search will tell you that that is a complete lie. They have to pay for it. They have papers taped to their desk, trying to convince you that it's state law. They're criminals as you're walking out the door. They try to get you to follow their link to give them a five star review that is the only way they have gotten those five star reviews. I feel so bad for the people that don't speak English that are getting ripped off. And the people that don't have someone with them to Google search the lies. When I came in to look at buying a car from Duffy's i looked at what a fair price would be on Kelley Blue Book. The fair price for the 2016 Acura RDX with tech package & Acura watch package with 74,000 miles was showing me $18,500 was the highest price in the range from a dealer. This is why i asked for a $1,500 discount. Tahir the sales person said that Kelley Blue Book doesn't know that market. Kelley Blue Book was founded in 1926 and has been an industry standard to protect consumers and help them get a fair price on vehicles. Duffy's business model must be focused on preying on the credit challenged customer and getting them into financing a vehicle at above market rates. Your response to my review never addressed the nearly $1,400 accessory charge that was tacked on to my price estimate i posted. Funny how this charge appeared on my quote when we never talk about any accessories. This was your way of price gauging me since i asked for a lower price. I mean how dare a customer come into Duffy's and try to negotiate a lower price. Your narcissistic response confirms my review of what a douche bag used car salesperson you are. The staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. The vehicle I purchased was used with less than 100,000 on a 2009 Nissan Murano. I thought great, I have had two other Murano's and I love this vehicle. I test drove it, I loved it except I noticed 4 different tires, so I purchased the vehicle and replaced the tires. I started to hear a noise from underneath the vehicle and took it into Les Schwab and they could not hear anything. I took it to my Mechanic and lets just say buyer beware, get an inspection done or purchase a warranty. The Crank case , the drive shaft, the joints for the AWD were completely rusted. This amount of deterioration is not normal on a vehicle with only 100,000 and should have been noticed if Duffys did the inspection as stated. The repairs were as much as I paid for the vehicle and exceeded the amount of the value of this vehicle. read more

I didn't know what to expect when I showed up at the lot, except they had the car I was looking for. My salesfriend, Tahir, was the first face of Duffys that I met. He was warm, knowledgeable and patient. The purchase was streamlined and easy. As with every used car I purchase, I opt for buying an extended warranty. A few months after the purchase, I needed to tap into said warranty. One of the perks of purchasing a car + warranty through Duffys is, they like to service the same cars they sell and waive any deductible for bringing the car to their service department. Their service manager, Isaac, is an absolute asset for Duffys. Mary, Isaac's co-charge is on top of it too. I couldn't be more happy with every encounter I've had with the Duffy's team. Super Upsetting Experience, these salesman want nothing but to do financings their way. I specifically said I already was going through with my bank and they were so disrespectful against my wishes. Victor was extremely petty and pushy and insisted I take the vehicle home and just sign up with their backup loan until I got my loan with the bank. I can't tell you how many times I said no I'm going through with my bank. Mid point through the conversation he says out of frustration that someone else has interest in the vehicle the same day. (For context the vehicle has only ever had 1 owner but it's been sitting in the lot for over 4 years in another state) Then they tried to get me to put down $1,000 for a non refundable deposit on the vehicle just to keep it secured over the weekend. They still had the audacity to call me the day of to tell me it was sold. All because I didn't want to use their recommended financings!! What a scam read more

This is a very, *very*, dirty dealership. I find it funny that they have almost 1,200 5 star reviews on Google Maps but they have some incredibly low ratings on Yelp. I am fully convinced that the majority of those ratings were bought. I went to this dealership and was met by someone who actually was very helpful and professional, but everything went downhill from there. I wish I could go back in time and get my time back, because it was such a stereotypical dealership experience that I don't know why I even thought it would be different. And Tim, grow up dude. You don't need to be in here acting condescending and full of yourself like you need to prove to yourself that you are better than your customers. Telling people who left a negative review 'this was one of the worst customers we've ever dealt with', where is the self awareness? Where is the accountability? You run a business, and you named it after yourself. You are the brand. And you showing off your narcissism to the world is not doing you any favors. It is disgusting. Avoid this dealership like the plague. I seriously cannot stress it enough. Look past all of the positive reviews because this dealership is the epitome of what the stereotypical car buying experience is like. I was completely blown away with the level of care and professionalism I was given. And that is rare in this industry. I traded a car in at Duffy's over a year ago. The dealer sold it at auction but failed to transfer title and now I'm in collections with a tow company for impound fees. Upon contacting the owner of Duffy's - Tim Duffy, he replied as follows: You have nothing to worry about since you have the document showing you traded it in and also have a document showing you electronically no longer own it. You can either go and see the truck and if you want it you can have a free truck other than the mounting fees they charge or you and ignore the impound notice and they will take possession of it. You have no liability what so ever. Your complaint should be with the state of Washington since they didn't follow through. If we sell the vehicle retail, then we put it in the new customers name. If we wholesale it, which we must have, it goes to the next dealer and it becomes their responsibility to transfer the vehicle into the new owners name. No my contacts to him are going unresponded as I am asking they cover the impound fee's since I'm being harassed by the towing companies collection agent. read more

The car warranty I asked to be cancelled on the day of the sale August 19th still hasn't been credited my loan. I contacted the warranty company myself to get the process started, because John brushed me off multiple times. He always said he was working on it or was going to take care of it ASAP. Asked for carfax salesperson did the classic we can get it to you but have someone coming in today to look at the car so might be gone. That turned out to be a lie. Is it so hard to have the staff be consistent in what they communicate about the car and not change their tune? When they don't hear what they want they tell you you're the only person who has ever asked or said that. The manager says things like you're overthinking things when I held them to account of what they said service was contacted to fix prior to a sale and then they went back on what they said and could not guarantee this and I would need to now write this in the offer instead. The manager then says you've been here for so long comparing that people buy the car in 15-30 minutes in the same breath of saying we never pressure people. Primo, Daniel, and Mike at Duffy's is A-MAZING! My credit situation was extremely challenging, but Daniel was determined and diligent in getting me financed with payments that are within my budget. I told them exactly what I would like but more importantly, what I NEED, which is 3rd row seating because I've got 3 growing kids (2 teens and 1 pre-teen) and one of the teens being 6'3"!!!) -- and they delivered! I originally had my heart set on a Dodge Journey, but because of my credit, getting financed for it was nearly impossible without a hefty down payment + my trade-in.. within 24hrs of my initial visit, Daniel found a happy medium and it's a Benz! With all his hard work.. though I didn't necessarily want to have a vehicle that's got over 100k mi, he was determined to make sure he gets me something that meets my needs AND BOY DOES THIS MERCEDES DO JUST THAT! Though it's even older than my trade-in, the van/SUV hybrid comes fully loaded! Double panoramic sun roof, navigation, bluetooth connection for phone calls, leather seats, the works! And all this within my target monthly payments of under $350/mo! Not to mention, we've got a camping trip with a 5hr drive tomorrow, and Duffy's got me into a vehicle we definitely need for this trip! I felt taken advantage of while purchasing a car at Duffys Auto. To protect vulnerable people, i.e., the elderly, people who speak English as a second language, the inexperienced, and many more, I write this. So basically, this company deceitfully added Vault insurance, GAP insurance and a service contract fee as part of my contract preparation without EXPLAINING or ASKING me if I wanted it! By the way, once you sign for the VAULT insurance, you cannot cancel it! This leads me to believe there may be others that this has happened to! I went to Duffys Auto Center in Covington to purchase a car for my daughter. This was supposed to be an enjoyable experience but progressively became worse. After friendly bartering with the manager, "M, " with "T," because I was purchasing the vehicle, I had to inform Duffy's of my vulnerable situation. With this knowledge, what happens afterward makes me sick. "T" handed me off to the finance guy "R" who works at both the Auburn and Covington store. "R" brings my daughter and I into the office. He has papers ready for me to sign. He says that I am signing for GAP insurance. This should have been my FIRST red flag. This was already on the contract! He did not ask me if I wanted it first. I do WANT this type of insurance, however. Then he informs me of the interest rate and how much the car will cost at the end of the loan. He tells me to sign for the document fee and a few more places. I tell him I need to go to the bank to get the cashiers check for the $1500 down payment which was suggested by Duffys. He says he will wrap up the paperwork in the meantime. When I return with the cashiers check, I am surprised to see "R" standing outside of Duffys with paperwork enclosed in an envelope. I was like, "Wow! These guys are so efficient!" Minutes later while I am driving, I ask my daughter to review the paperwork. This is when we discovered he had added $4000 for a service contract fee. He NEVER discussed a service contract, he did not talk about different types of service contracts, and he did not ASK if I wanted a service contract! I immediately turn around and approach "M," the manager, and inform him that I did not ASK for a service contract and I and want it removed. After mention of the police, "R" finally begrudingly removes the service contract fee. He prints out a new contract.He says to me "let me go through this thoroughly, so there is no misunderstanding" like I am stupid or confused. He says, "This is your Vault insurance, this is your GAP insurance, and these are your numbers." I figure this Vault insurance is standard, since it is already on the contract. My daughter questions him about the Vault insurance and he says that it is in case the car is broken into. Very frazzled, I sign the paperwork, glad that the $4000 service contract fee is removed. Later that evening, I want to review the Vault insurance information, as well as the GAP policy but "R" kept the old paperwork and gave me a summary statement with the new numbers. I call and ask for "R" the next day. I was bounced around with "Oh, he's at the Auburn store, no he's at the Covington store, and "oh he is sick." Dissapointed, I informed a man at the Auburn store what I experienced with "R." He says there has never been any complaints before. I told him that I think "R" is a slimeball. The man informs me that he is Daniel Duffy, the owner of Duffys Auto, and that he will not tolerate name calling and he hangs up. For the paperwork and more explanation of the Vault insurance the following Monday, I went to the Auburn store to talk to Daniel Duffy. Two smiling people wave at me and "R" is there. My daughter and I politely ask for Daniel. Daniel is at home. "R" says that he can explain the Vault insurance and provide all the Vault paperwork which he does not do (and even today, I still do not have all the GAP paperwork, only page 1 of 5). Very unproffessionally, he says "let me explain this to you in the least slimeball way." He further comments on how I went behind his back and called the store. I told him I didn't call to talk behind his back. I asked for him. I would tell him directly. He then tries to kick me out of the Auburn store! This is where I feel that if I was alone, and my daughter was not with me, I may have been treated even more poorly. Finally, Tim Duffy (owner) helps my daughter and me by pulling us into his office. He explains the Vault insurance and gives me missing Vault insurance paperwork "R" did not give me. He even has me sign for the catalytic converter protection which was originally supposed to be included because of the fee "R" charged me ($999.00). Later in the month, I express my worries to Tim Duffy in an email. I do not hear from him for two weeks. He replied to the email stating, there have been zero complaints, only praises for "R, " unvalidating me. He says he has taken the necessary steps with "R" and the matter is between them. Update: I believe every 5 star reviewer here got ripped off because I went and bought a brand new version of the car they were trying to sell me and my monthly payment is $80 cheaper than the cheapest Duffy's could offer me for a 2017 car. My only pro to this place is that the people were friendly. The rest was cons. I had to walk away at the very end of a deal here because they were not being transparent at all. I gave them my monthly budget and they brought me a piece of paper with a number written in sharpie that was $100 over what I said. This is typical of car dealerships, but they offered no reasoning for this price. I asked time and time again for a break down of the cost and they just continued to write it out with a pen on paper. They wouldn't say my loan term, trade in value, what was included in the payment, etc. until I asked at least 4 times. In my experience buying cars at different dealerships in the past, they have printed off extremely detailed breakdowns of the cost of the car, warranty, etc. Not at this place. They were being secretive and shady, and I felt like they were banking on the fact that I am clueless about buying a car to get the most money out of me, but this isn't my first rodeo and I knew I needed to walk away. No power and couldn't get them to work. The dealership manager had the audacity to tell me I could fix the problem myself!! They absolutely knew that the player/monitors didn't work and still listed them as a feature. Then, only offered $500 off the price of the vehicle. I looked at the Car toys website, and they were $599 a piece to replace, not including labor. NO, THANK YOU The leather seats had wear but needed a little TLC. I did a car history, and the car came from South Carolina multiple owners before coming to Washington and going through two auctions. My wife had enough and walked out to wait for me. While in the car , another man. Maybe the owner went out to "look" at the problem, and when he was walking back in, the dealership looked at her and was laughing. These people thought I was a joke or stupid and were just playing games trying to sell me a lemon for the highest price. To be honest, I have always been a little reluctant to walk on to a car lot of any sort, let alone a used car lot. I pulled into Duffy's about a month ago and was kindly greeted and showed a few vehicles that match the criteria I gave them. After sitting in a Cadillac ATS, I really liked it! We finally stopped in last week to talk to them about our trade in and walk out with our new Cadillac! The guys there were super helpful, never pushy and very honest with us. When she went back to question them about these issues they wanted to charge her to have the issues fixed. So then they tried to sell her another car. She actually considered it and was going to finiance thru her bank and they started harrassing (while on speaker phone with the banker that was trying to help her) her about not going to her bank and told her she needs to bring them her pay stubbs and wanted to know how much she was approved for, it's none of their bussiness, she had her finainces in order. Remember I am making this statement cause I have a witness/proof. These people have sold an illegal car (no horn & a cracked windshield) just cause she is a women and not aware of all the questions that should be asked and when asking them to make it right they degrated her, raised their voices demanding that she bring her finiancail information to them. Here is the rip-off deal we got at Duffy's Auto Brokerage in Covington. I went in to help my granddaughter buy a car (I'm retired and have limited income, she makes minimum wage), made it clear our budget was $10,000 out the door to the salesman. The car she loved was $12,963 (out the door), they refused to come down even $1.00. Claimed they had to make a little money on the car so they could not deal, what a joke, if they choose to, every car dealership can negotiate. All depends on how much profit they want. At that point we decided to walk, as we were leaving the owner/Tim asked to talk to us. Acted like he cared and tried to be our best friend. He told us we could consign my granddaughter's existing car (Mazda) and get a lot more than the junk yard offered her ($400). Sounded like a good deal, win/win. Now the owner will tell you he did not know the car had a rebuilt title however he/salesman had the VIN number the day we bought her new car, and we also told him it had a rebuilt title (he calls it 'salvage'). What car dealership/owner does not check a VIN when negotiating. The car needed a new clutch, my granddaughter was offered $400.00 for the car from a junk yard, the owner/Tim assured her she could get a lot more for the car. He agreed to have the clutch put in by his mechanic, per Tim more savings for us (big joke, more profit for him). Well let's do the match, paid $12,963 for the new car (budget was $10,000). Consigned the Mazda and paid insurance for 4 months $250.00. We just received a check for $200.00, yes $200 less than the junk yard was willing to pay. We lost money, $200.00 less than the junk yard was willing to pay, paid $250 for insurance and paid a lot more for the new car than our original budget. What a SCAM! Tim did not even tell us what he sold the Mazda for, he claims he paid 3 times more to have the clutch put in than my granddaughter was quoted. He also had the car detailed, not sure what he paid for that, I'm sure a lot more than what I pay to have my car detailed. I'm sure Duffy's/Tim will reply to this review with: it had a salvage title; he knew when negotiating and the frame was bent. He did not say anything about the frame being bent until he had the car on the lot for 3 months. Wonder why his mechanic did not find the bent frame when he was going over the car. Per Tim the tires could not be aligned, I find that very odd because the tires were aligned less than 30 days before the clutch went out by a reputable tire center. Tim is the reason car dealerships have a bad reputation, they tell you what they think you want to hear and then do what is best for them. Duffy's lacks honesty and has no compassion for those with limited income young or old. They are willing to lie and cheat to make the deal for THEM. I noticed when I was looking at other reviews Tim responded to a negative review and stated the following: Look at The Better Business Bureaus website, we have an A+ rating. 86% of people who walk through our doors are repeat or referral. The stats don't surprise me because unless folks file a BB report the dealership gets an A+ rating based on time in business, etc. 7 of the factors to determine BB rating is regarding complaints. Better Business is not able to help people negotiate with businesses so people don't bother filing, I only found one BB review for Duffy's and it was not positive. When you do your own statistics, the number can be anything you want it to be. Don't be fooled people, Tim is not your friend, in business to make a lot of money. Tim responds to most negative reviews, amazing that he never takes ownership of any problem/concern, always the buyer's fault/misunderstanding. It cost us $450 to consign a car, does not seem like a fair deal to me. Wonder what Tim made, he won't be honest so I don't even want to know. I do not recommend this and will tell all my friends/family to not do business with Duffy's in Covington or any new location (Tim seems to move around a lot in the car business). read more

Three years ago I was shopping for a quality used vehicle and found a Ford Taurus Wagon at Duffy's. I asked if I could take it for an inspection and they said yes. The inspection found some major issues that needed to be addressed. I said I would buy the car if those repairs were done. They had all the work done on the car and I have been very pleased with it. This car broke down on me after 6 months. Needed so much maintenance. Ended up being too much money to be worth it to fix. If I can remember right, bolts were loose to hold the engine?? It was a lot. My dad was pissed. Buuuut old cars always need maintenance. So what the hell lol read more
