Buck's is very unique to dine in. Vegetarians: the Impossible burger is a must to try!! I also like the pretzel bun to make the burger unique, hence at Buck's! They give you onions on the side and I didn't have to ask. The fries were a good pairing with the burger though I prefer a bit more crisp to the French in fry. The pickle is definitely a pickle on the side to enjoy. So we splurged on pumpkin and the fudge pie!!! The service quality here is questionable or at least not consisitent. we came here for a quick bite on Saturday afternoon around 3pm, which you can imgaine how unbusy they are. while i am waiting to be seated, (we are the only customer to be seated) the waitress made multiple eye contacts with us but choose to believe we are invisible, turn her face around and "proactively" serve other customers. after a few rounds of making eye contact and turn, i can hardly convence myself she is just too busy at the moment serving those 3 tables. recommdation: a bit more training, a quick nod after eye contact can easily prevent giving the preception of poor customer service, and it is free! read more

Incredible pizza place! Great atmosphere, comprehensive menu, and an arcade to keep the kiddos busy. What's not to like!?! I'm from Detroit originally and can testify that the Sicilian Pizza is about as close as you can get to Detroit style pizza in the Bay Area. They just put mozzarella sticks on the menu- they are about the size of a king crab leg. Definitely do not sleep on this place if you find yourself anywhere near Sonoma. read more

Yummmmm yummmm! Tried this restaurant after a hike in Woodside and enjoyed it a lot! The parking is a bit of a pain since it's 1 hour and quite cramped due to the parking lot changes. The parking lot was changed to outdoor dining. We waiting in line for a bit, but the waiters were very friendly and tried to get us seating ahead of ordering. We ordered at the stand and then was able to get seated outside quickly. The food came sequentially (we had four separate orders). The food was great! We tried the breakfast sandwich. I love Bucks. I love to meet people there for breakfast before the work day starts. It's great. I love the feel of the place and the food is always good. If I had one criticism, it is that the servers always seem to be, at best, elsewhere. After much waving and signaling, nothing. It took me getting up and going over there to get the attention of someone who could take my card and let me pay my bill. That's fine when I'm really not on the clock at all, but you don't have to be that much in a hurry for this to get a bit annoying. It isn't much easier to get your coffee refilled. Still, I love Bucks and will keep going but, maybe if someone is listening, something could be done to improve server attentiveness a bit. :) read more

My parents have always loved this restaurant but when we ate there today I was really frustrated because they had really aggressive flies buzzing at our heads and landing on our food the entire meal. I felt like a cat batting at flies and it was incredibly gross and distracting. I ordered the "shrooms pizza" and it was fantastic. I've always enjoyed the fun decor. There's also a bakery shop next door called The Village Bakery. The hostess seated us quickly outdoor, got our order taken within 5 minutes after seating. I ordered a crispy chicken salad, my bf ordered a clam chowder & shared a Mac & Cheese. ++ Crispy Chicken Salad: nothing to spectacular, basic salad but the chicken wasn't dried which is a plus ++ Clam Chowder: definitely not the top star but appreciate the vast amount of clam in the chowder. ++ Mac & Cheese: very creamy but lacking salt. It was very plain tasting. Probably catering to people who has dietary issue. Thankfully there were condiments on the side so we could adjust to our tastebuds. Been here twice. A terrible experience everytime when we try to get seated. Talk to hostess for a table 15 min later - hostess in scolding tone: "did you put your name down? You need to put your name down". What's the point of talking to the hostess when we arrive if she's not going to put your name down? Hostess: " there are 3 groups ahead of you" After "3+ groups have been seated, there are still groups in front of us. 3 empty tables available while there're "2 groups" ahead of you. Finally, we got seated at a small table that has been *empty for the past hour*. Wait 10 min to get a server. Wait another 30 min for food. They can afford to be arrogant because they get spillover business from the very popular restaurant next door, so they'll get a constant stream of business. There's no incentives to have any service standards. Hostess has to double up as server too. so the lack of labor probably doesn't help with attitudes. read more

This place is a must for great atmosphere, super fun to play eye spy. We came around noon on a Saturday and were immediately sat. Ordered the eggs Benedict and it was pretty good. Also had the calamari, if it's on a menu we always seem to try. We were surprised at how good it really was! Just had dinner here tonight. I've been here many times and had good food but tonight was a terrible experience for my entrée. I ordered the fillet mignon stroganoff with penne pasta. It tasted like a chuck roast cut I could not even cut it with a steak knife it was so tough. The menu lied about it being Filet Mignon. I asked if I could see the chef and the waitperson said the chef is not here tonight. Filet mignon is a very special expensive very tender cut of meat that you can cut with a fork. This was tough as nails. I think they should just call it meat stroganoff and be done with it and then you're not expecting the best cut of meat. The rest of the dinner was very good. My friend had the artichoke which was amazing and my other friend had the full plate of ribs. The waitress did offer to take it back for another choice but we didn't want to wait for another plate to come for me late and then I would be the last one eating so I just sucked it up and paid for it. I recently went to Buck's for a Sunday lunch for the first time in years with my family. We all had a great meal with excellent service, great food, and fantastic outdoor seating which is dog friendly so our English Cream Golden was able to join us too, who the waitress brought water for . The entire experience was a notch better than what I remember pre Covid. I ordered the Benedict vs Florentine which was well cooked but particular kudos to the chef for the side of potatoes (which most places treat like an after thought). My friend and I came here after abandoning the crappy meal we purchased from Alice's Restaurant ($32 for NOTHING). Buck's was a 180 degree change. I was SO HAPPY. The ambiance was good; the owner was checking in on people; we had several people check in on us for drinks; and the food was FABULOUS. Let's just talk about the fries. The fries. They were everything a French fry is supposed to be -- light, crispy, and fluffy inside with a light coating of salt. Mind you, I was hungry, but my friend said it best when she told my son that I INHALED them. I did. They were so good! And the crispy chicken sandwich was incredibly flavorful. It was crispy and crunchy without being greasy. The slaw and aioli added to the overall flavor. And the bun was so soft and still grilled. Despite my being incredibly hungry (and probably hangry), I was so satisfied when I was finished. And this has NOTHING to do with food, but I loved the owner's shirt which he had made. It was a beautiful California poppy shirt with ladybug buttons. That alone made me happy, but the young women who brought us our bill and talked to us was charming, sweet, interested, and truly interested in our experience. While I will NEVER willingly go to Alice's Restaurant again, I would go to Buck's every day of the week. I happen to be in the area and I was super hungry. I remember this place was on 85 and decided to stop by. They currently have a bunch of outside eating and indoors is also open. The girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich that she really enjoyed and I ordered the crab stuffed artichoke and beat salad. I don't know what kind of sauce/aïoli is on that artichoke, but damn is it good! If there's one thing I love is a good beat salad. All the ingredients were there on this one, but there was a little too much salad for my taste. It would've been perfect with less salad, more arugula and more beets and pears. If you eat inside, you will be blown away by all the memorabilia and decor. There is a ton of history and just a bunch of stuff to look at! It's a fun little spot.
