Pasta (vegan)
Christian T.

The food was very good, especially the lunch specials pizza, the pasta (vegan) and the burger (medium well). I particularly enjoyed the burger, very juicy and lots of flavor. The pizzas and are also a generous portion. The ambiance is definitely one of the highlights. You walk in and the lobby/indoor dining is spacious and very lovely open design. The outdoor dining is also very nice especially during summer with fans facing all of the tables.

We ordered a bunch of things from the happy hour menu, but the only thing I liked was the sweet potato fries with truffle aioli. Pizza dough was terrible, toppings were good though. The passionfruit sorbet presentation was disappointing and it was overly tart. At least the restaurant is beautiful inside.

Current view from tables out on the deck. Imagine the sawing of those vertical metal beams throughout your entire meal.

I was super disappointed with the Sundeck today and embarrassed that I had invited friends and bragged about how good it was. This was my fourth visit for lunch and all my other visits had been great. The food, service and environment were all BAD! First, the waitress got all three of our orders wrong. The server took them all back, supposedly fixed. My friend and I ordered the Mary's chicken on Ciabatta withOUT the garlic aioli and instead some mayo on the side. Both of us have medical reasons we can't eat garlic. When I looked at the sandwich I could see that there was still garlic aioli and it looked like the same piece of bread and they just tried to scrape it out. This was not acceptable at all. Rather than making a big deal, we both tried to scrape more of it out. Then, my sandwich was sitting in a pool of something wet which made the underside of the sandwich completely soggy. (I assumed chicken juice, but hopefully not something else!) The chicken breast itself was dry and tough and the flavor of the sandwich wasn't appealing. And I ordered the special waffle fries versus the potato chips and those were cold and soggy! My last visit, I ordered the exact same meal and it was so delicious! Then, not only was there a man right next to me coughing non-stop (not your fault) but there was construction going on at the lower patio that was previously a beautiful outdoor seating area. And part of the construction work, in addition to constant banging and it being a general ugly view, a worker was sawing big vertical metal beams repeatedly and during our entire lunch. We were outside on the deck so the sound was ear-shatteringly loud so we had to scream over it to hear each other. Finally, in addition to getting our orders wrong and then serving hot lunches cold, we had very little attention from our servers. Let me just say that it was NOT busy at all, so there was no excuse for this. Based on this experience, I may not ever be back. Super disappointed and feeling like what should have been a pleasant and enjoyable time, was just basically miserable. My ears are still ringing and I'm suffering the effects of the garlic. Attaching a photo of the view from our table.

Instant fan here! I brought my 10 year old daughter with me to Sand Hill Sundeck on Mother's Day Sunday for their special brunch menu. I made reservations based on an Instagram ad that I saw a couple weeks prior, thinking it would be something different than places I usually go to in the San Jose/Santa Clara area, and nice to venue out to beautiful Menlo Park. Everything was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We loved the Parmesan breakfast potatoes and the crème brûlée French toast! Yum! We even had enough food for leftovers for the next day, and that is even after my daughter and I ate both more than enough food for our special occasion. As a bonus, we had impeccable service from everyone the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted, the chef, and from all the wait staff were all super attentive and made sure our experience was nothing less than exceptional! I don't think I have EVER in my life received such AMAZING service at a restaurant-EVER!! I will return over and over again and bring my family and friends here. I hope they have more special menus like this in the future! Loved it!!! Thank you for making my daughter and I feel so loved and thank you for the beautiful chocolate truffles gift!!!! WOW!!!!

Pretty good size portions it took a long time to get our food, but it was pretty crowded when we arrived at 1 o'clock, hence it was noisy

Very limited choices. Very expensive for what you get. Service is slow. Best thing is the outdoor surroundings.

But after an early-morning appointment at Stanford, I was looking for a place to sit down and eat for a while--and I'm so glad I chose Sweet Maple. I had two scrambled eggs, which were cooked perfectly, and the brussels sprouts and potato mix was so good that I'm still thinking about it. It was savory and lightly salted and caramelized in all the right ways. I also had the Millionaire's bacon, which wasn't overly sweet and perfect with my breakfast. The ambiance is friendly and professional, and the decor shows that it's a bit more of an upscale place--which was reflected in the service I received.

My wife ordered the Hemingway Benedict, and the salmon was delicious, although it was a little cold. I had the Breaky Tacos, and they were absolutely amazing! The steak was fantastic, but the real surprise was the breakfast potatoes. Both plates came with a generous side, and they were probably the best breakfast potatoes I've had in a long, long time. Overall, a fantastic breakfast experience with great food and service. We can't wait to come back and try the Loco Moco!

The pastries are very inviting - I sometimes allow myself a treat. The almond croissant is one of my favorites. The avocado toast is delicious - sometimes the poached egg is a little too firm but I can deal with that. The chefs make some great brunch items. The eggs are always good. The freshly baked bread is a nice take home for lunch. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I know their jobs are very busy and they work hard. It doesn't go unnoticed. I'd love it if they opened a location in San Carlos. The Redwood location isn't as convenient to get to and park.

HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS!!!…read more I am writing this review to both warn other customers and so that management sees this. I was at the MP location earlier this week and saw not one but TWO health code violations committed by employees. First, one of the ladies was drinking out of an open cup at the front where the food and beverages are prepared. This is against the health code! 113977. (a) Except as specified in subdivision (b), an employee shall eat or drink only in designated areas where contamination of nonprepackaged food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; unwrapped single-use articles; or other items needing protection cannot result. (b) A food employee may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of the employee's hands, the container, nonprepackaged food, and food-contact surfaces. The employee (brown hair in a ponytail, wearing grey Adidas) was frequently drinking a pink drink from a clear open cup behind the counter where the pastries are! Also, I saw the male employee behind the counter sneeze and use his bare hand to cover his sneeze. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. I was watching him from my table to make sure that he washed his hands. He went over to the sink behind the cash register and I kid you not, he turned on the water and for literally ONE SECOND put his hands under it. He then wiped his hands together to dry them. HE DID NOT USE SOAP TO WASH HIS HANDS AFTER SNEEZING INTO THEM!!!! Article 4. Handwashing 113953.3. (a) (2) After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms. (5) After coughing, sneezing, using a handkerchief or disposable tissue, using tobacco, eating, or drinking. He then went back to work grabbing customers' pastries. I'd really love for management to please have a word with staff/review training and protocols - please don't respond to this review with the canned "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have addressed this with our staff and we will take your comments into consideration." Please actually DO SOMETHING and ensure that all of your staff follow proper health code laws! Thank you!! :D

The portions are fairly generous, and everything tastes super fresh, and is served with care. I originally thought I would have the breakfast sandwich, but ended up getting the classic two egg breakfast. My eggs were poached perfectly, the blueberry pancakes were topped with fresh blueberries, and powdered sugar with just combined together, took the flavors to the next level. The bacon was absolutely divine, but let's talk about the potatoes. They were buttery, crisp, fully flavored homestyle potatoes that make you want to put potatoes into their own food group. The service was great, the food was great, and this is definitely a restaurant that needs to be explored because everything on the menu sounds absolutely delicious! Parking was fairly easy, and I'm really excited to return and try more of the menu items.
