Stopped by on the way home from the hike. A decent amount of parking but it was a weekday so I'm sure weekends would be a different story. There's a gas station and restrooms nearby so it's perfect if you've been traveling around the area. You basically walk up and place your order and the menu is HUGE! Anything and everything that you could possibly want, the food was fresh, good quality and home-cooked. Plenty of seating, picnic tables all around the property. It was really enjoyable, extremely relaxing. Had a good time there.

This restaurant stands, without a doubt as one of my most favorite dining destinations in and around the Bay Area. Our first visit, approximately eight to nine years ago, instantly cemented its place in our hearts and it has since become the star of our favorite random and spontaneous weekend plans. Whether it's for a hearty breakfast, a brunch, a comforting lunch, an evening dinner, or just a simple, soul-warming coffee or hot chocolate, the experience is always perfect. The staff is consistently friendly and exceptionally cool, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance is truly second to none: a beautiful location infused with warm, cozy vibes that make every visit feel like coming home. I have an immense love for this place.

I usually go to Alice's for breakfast- I happened to pass it and decided to do some take out dessert. I loved the evening ambiance- with heaters and lights. It had such a lot cabin feel - cool evening with heaters outside - gorgeous! The staff is always so friendly and helpful. The dinner menu looked quite interesting- I will have to come back again. My all time favorite place for sticky toffee - if you love sugary delight - hot dessert with ice cream on top, do stop by! You will not be disappointed:)

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.

Crazy busy parking lot. We ended up parking our car on the side of the road, a ways from the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy when we were there on a Saturday. Maybe a weekday would be a better time to visit. Wait in line to order your food, get a buzzer and find yourself a table. Service and food were both good, but it was a bit of a zoo on the day we were there.

Having seen it on my way to hikes, I've long been curious about Alice's restaurant. And on my second attempt, we made it! The first time I was going to visit, my friend had called me from Alice's Restaurant's parking lot, letting me know that it's completely congested (inside the parking lot!!!), and suggested we meet elsewhere. On my second visit, while the parking lot was still quite full, we lucked out with another customer leaving, and parked right by the entrance to the restaurant. Pro-tip: folks at the restaurant let us know that there're plenty of parking spots nearby on Skyline. Food here is decent; it's your typical American fare, with pizzas, salads, burgers, etc. We especially enjoyed the pizza! The vibe is causal as others have said, where you walk up to the cashier, place you order, then head to a table of your choosing with your #, and the staff will bring you the food when ready. What makes Alice's Restaurant really special are the people, the charm and beauty of the restaurant and surrounding areas. Owners and brothers Jamie & Andy stopped by separately to say hello and chatted with us briefly; they made us feel welcome and at ease with the place. They both seem super down-to-earth and friendly! In addition to seating areas on the deck and inside the restaurant, there're lots of tables in the back of the restaurant, amongst the tall redwood trees. There's live music two nights per week too. I can see why so many people rave about this spot! While I probably won't make a trip specifically to come eat here, I'll definitely return when we hike in the many neighboring parks (e.g. Windy Hill, El Corte de Madera, etc.)!

My friend and I stopped by yesterday afternoon after a 5-mile hike at the Open Space Preserve nearby. The location is convenient for hikers and bikers, but parking is a challenge. The lot is very small, and while there is some street parking, it was pretty packed. The menu has a wide range of options -- breakfast pizzas, burgers, salads, and more. My friend ordered a coffee and a breakfast burrito, and I ordered a root beer, herb fries, and a half-and-half gluten-free pizza (half wild mushrooms, half Italian combo). Ordering is done outside where they give you a beeper, then you find your own seating. Indoor seating is limited, but there is outdoor seating with heat lamps. We managed to sit inside at the bar area. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the food was a bit hit or miss. My fries were cold, and although I ordered herb fries, I was given garlic fries instead -- they weren't great. The gluten-free pizza was very small, and with the extra $3 charge for the gluten-free crust, it didn't feel worth the price. The flavor was just okay, nothing memorable. On the positive side, my friend's breakfast burrito was quite large -- she only ate half. The breakfast potatoes, however, were very small and looked a bit greasy. Overall, Alice's is fine for convenience and location, especially after a hike, but given the price and food quality, it's not somewhere I see us frequenting again.

We went to Alice's for the first time over the weekend. I had higher hopes to be honest. We were surprised there wasn't really much of a line on a Saturday, but with the gloomy weather I guess people didn't wanna make the drive. I ordered a blt and a gluten free honey cake. The blt was pretty average. The honey cake was good. The host was really nice, but one of the servers was kinda sassy with us when we confirmed that the honey cake was gluten free. Not sure we would come back here as in our opinion, it wasn't really worth the hype...

The service is friendly and efficient. You order your food upfront and get a buzzer that you place on your table. Someone brings you the food. The host and staff are very friendly. There's seating outside with heaters, and also inside with a dog-friendly area. The food was great. We ordered coffee, fish tacos, fish sandwich, and potato Benedict. The soup of the day was also delicious- veggie medley. Will definitely be coming back.

If there is one thing I'd recommend is the BMW BURGER! The ingredients taste so fresh and delicious and I always come back ordering the same thing. The hot chocolate is so comforting especially when it gets colder during the winter. Parking gets crowded on the weekends but as long as you circle around for a few minutes, there's always someone bound to leave. Highly recommend if you want to make a drive out here and I love that they're dog friendly.

This was our first time visiting, and we were a little confused at first about how the whole process worked. When we arrived, there was a line of about 20 people outside, which we assumed was for seating but it turns out that's actually where you place your order before heading in to find a table. Luckily, the line moved fairly quickly, and they have large menus posted outside so you can browse and be ready to order by the time you reach the front. One thing I wasn't a big fan of was having to pay and tip upfront before knowing what the service would be like. They did have a cash tip jar as well, so I held off on tipping with my card and decided to leave a cash tip later based on our experience and I'm glad I did. Once we placed our order, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was tons of seating available inside, out on the patio, and around plenty of picnic tables, even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon. We were handed a pager, and as soon as we sat down, it buzzed. I went up to the pickup area and found it was just our drinks, so I headed back to the table. About 10 minutes later, the pager went off again and I went back to grab our meals. I had a classic cheeseburger and chips. It was simple but really well done, the burger was juicy, and the bun was great. As we were eating, I noticed that while most people picked up their food like I did, some tables were getting food delivered to them. Not sure what the system is there, but it seemed a little inconsistent. That said, there were staff roaming around checking on guests and offering drink refills, which was a nice touch. Everyone we encountered was super friendly, working hard, and had great attitudes. It made me feel good about leaving a proper tip at the end. The setting was really charming, surrounded by woods and a small body of water. It had a relaxed, almost rustic vibe that made the whole experience feel unique and memorable. Definitely worth a visit, just go in knowing the setup is a little different!

Been coming here for years now. But now w/Charlie the Challenger, it's a great drive to come to Alice's, say hello to the bikers and auto enthusiasts, and to strangers that are visiting or just stopping in to grab a bite to eat. The experience here - never a dull moment. From the hostess, servers, just the entire staff in general are great. The food is delicious so there you go - come on in to experience Alice's. You'll love it here =D

Expected so much more! This roadside restaurant is nestled within the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. There is an order station as soon you walk up the deck. They have an extensive menu to order breakfast, lunch or dinner with a good local beer menu. Plenty of seating on the deck and out in the back. It provides a great place to hang out and eat amongst nature. The service was helpful and fast. They brought out our food to the back area, despite giving us a buzzer to go pick up our food. Not sure why they hand those out if they aren't used. We ordered the Jalopy Burger. This was a good burger but there is a lot of bun. The bun was very dense. It comes with homemade chips that were overcooked and lack taste. We ordered the plain fries, that name is accurate. Again over cooked and no seasoning. Finally, we ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich based on the servers recommendation. The pork was extremely dry! We had to dump all the BBQ sauce on it to moistin it a bit. The same bun as the burger. Same overcooked chips. The cole slaw was good, not to much sauce. We did like the experience of sitting in the back yard area and eating, just wish the food was better.

Alice's is tucked away and feels like you're deep in the forest once you're seated among the trees. They have a great variety in their menu included vegan and vegetarian options. The ambiance is the best part in my opinion, especially if you choose to sit outside.

We were given a comfy, cushioned booth by a front window for our party of four. We ladies asked for two orders of the Salmon Fish Tacos, $18, one order of the Heirloom Tomato B.L.T., served on soft rosemary focaccia, $18, and one order of the Pastrami Reuben, $18. The sandwiches come with fries, which you can sub out for sweet potato fries or salad for an additional $2, or fruit or onion rings for $3. I loved my BLT. Because the focaccia was soft, I didn't have to fight getting the sandwich in my mouth. It was yummy and delicious. I ate half of my generous portion and brought home the other half for dinner. There was a dollop of sour cream on top and also under the chili, which made for a great taste combination. One improvement would be to have less beans and more meat. My wife had the Double Smash Burger ($19), which was extremely thick with meat and very tasty. She also upgraded the fries to Sweet Potato fries ($2 extra), which were worth it. She kept raving over the great taste of her lunch!

Our family's beloved brunch spot!! -- Both indoor and…read moreoutdoor seating are great in ambiance though the outdoor area fills up quickly. -- Menu is simple and straightforward but the presentation and flavors are truly stellar. -- What we love most is the ability to order bakery items from next door, anything we pick gets brought right to the table. My kid enjoys "hunting" with her own eyes so leaves the table for a minute but almost always returns with a full bag of pillowy Parker House rolls :) Add a cup of milk on the side, and it absolutely makes her day! -- My husband's favorite is breakfast sandwich, the spicy aioli sauce is insanely good!! -- My all-time favorite is the Bufala toast. Sautéed kale is cooked to perfection, with Maldon salt as the delicate finishing touch (though I still miss the older version with a poached egg on top!). -- Kid-friendly with excellent service, always a win for families. -- Parking can be a bit challenging on weekends with heavy car and bike traffic, but we've never had any issues, just something to be a little patient with.

The…read moreservice was great (refilled our water) but the food was what disappointed the parker house rolls were good the salmon with chard had a weird sour sauce to it. never a fan of chard, so that didn't help, carrots were unremarkable the side of honey glazed carrots were undercooked, crunchy the shrimp pasta with saffron was oily the margherita pizza was disappointing, not Italian, not as good as the home mobile oven my husband's boss has =( the chicken paillard was ok. weird vegetables again dessert was good though they were out of devil's food which they should've warned us when they gave us the dessert menu =( ambiance was elegant, quirky art. love the white paper on table so we could draw.
