    Jalopy Burger

This is a beautiful cabin spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and really good food. We got the Jalopy burger and the Chicken Avocado Panini (both around $16 range). The food is soooo good & fresh and the portions are massive. They also have pizzas, entrees, BBQ, and all other sort of items that sound awesome. Order at the tent, pick a table, and they hand you a buzzer which buzzes when your food is ready. The food is ready pretty quickly!

We would've never found this place on our own, but another motorcycle is shared it with us, on our ride in Big Sur. We definitely weren't disappointed heading up to Alice's. The ride was amazing and once we got there, the food and drinks were on point. We sat out back and had a nice time enjoying the view. If you're in the area, I would advise taking a drive in your car, or motorcycle, you won't be disappointed.

The hamburgers are great and very juicy, with a large combination of additional toppings on offer (the barbecue is a little dry, though). The setting is lovely: one is dwarfed by towering groves of coastal redwood trees. It is impossible to get a seat here at peak times, and in fact even difficult to find a park, so popular and iconic is this place. But most of all, I want to say that the servers are wonderful people. There was one day I was road tripping along Skyline Ridge when I started feeling rather ill. We were just about to reach Alice's, so we parked the car and I had to get out, and the bench in front of Alice's was just the place I needed to lie down for an interval. They kindly brought me water and their good spirits and allowed me the space to recover, for which I'm very, very grateful. I hope Alice's stays around forever.

Stopped by on the way home from the hike. A decent amount of parking but it was a weekday so I'm sure weekends would be a different story. There's a gas station and restrooms nearby so it's perfect if you've been traveling around the area. You basically walk up and place your order and the menu is HUGE! Anything and everything that you could possibly want, the food was fresh, good quality and home-cooked. Plenty of seating, picnic tables all around the property. It was really enjoyable, extremely relaxing. Had a good time there.

On Alice how I've meaning to come visit you for so long! I had low expectations coming here as it is in the middle of the woods... how good of a place can this be??? Oh yes it can be SUPER good! This is definitely an iconic place to come and stop by after a nice drive. We got some childcare this AM and Of course the first place I wanted to try was Alice's!!! This is no place to dress up for, as it is in the middle of the woods. It is definitely a good idea to wear warm layers in the winter as it does get pretty chilly! The restaurant does have heaters outside which is convenient. But I was glad to have my hat, mittens and warm coat on! You enter the parking lot and you have entered a sea of beautiful vehicles!!! So honestly you get a nice show coming here and admiring all the beautiful sports cards: Porches, McLaren, Ferrari and even one Lamborghini! You enter the restaurant and you come across a tent with the menu on the side. You order there and then they give you a little clicker and you find a place to sit down in the restaurant. The people working there are super friendly and helpful- suggesting some popular dishes!! The food: I had low expectations from a place in the woods. However the food exceeded my expectations! I ordered the potato Benedict and it came with a delicious sauce and a salad. You can also choose to add sides and I added a sausage too. Everything tasted so fresh! My husband got their popular omelette dish and it was very filling! The rye bread they have is super tasty, I had to steal some from husband!! We also got coffee and we were asked often if we wanted a refill which was nice! So all in all this place totally exceeded my expectations. From the friendly service, to the delicious mouth watering food to the ambiance it is a great destination for breakfast or lunch!! Not to mention you get a free show of seeing a plethora of incredible looking cars enter the area while you eat. So I suggest eating outside in the patio to have that view! I did also see many families here too so I may even bring the kids here one day as well and do a separate review how it is with kids! Overall 5 I can't wait to come back here and try something else on the menu!

This restaurant stands, without a doubt as one of my most favorite dining destinations in and around the Bay Area. Our first visit, approximately eight to nine years ago, instantly cemented its place in our hearts and it has since become the star of our favorite random and spontaneous weekend plans. Whether it's for a hearty breakfast, a brunch, a comforting lunch, an evening dinner, or just a simple, soul-warming coffee or hot chocolate, the experience is always perfect. The staff is consistently friendly and exceptionally cool, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance is truly second to none: a beautiful location infused with warm, cozy vibes that make every visit feel like coming home. I have an immense love for this place.

I usually go to Alice's for breakfast- I happened to pass it and decided to do some take out dessert. I loved the evening ambiance- with heaters and lights. It had such a lot cabin feel - cool evening with heaters outside - gorgeous! The staff is always so friendly and helpful. The dinner menu looked quite interesting- I will have to come back again. My all time favorite place for sticky toffee - if you love sugary delight - hot dessert with ice cream on top, do stop by! You will not be disappointed:)

Great food, but even better service! Huge shoutout to Zac for taking such fantastic care of us tonight. He is fast, friendly, and super accommodating. Exceptional service makes all the difference, and Zac nailed it.

Crazy busy parking lot. We ended up parking our car on the side of the road, a ways from the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy when we were there on a Saturday. Maybe a weekday would be a better time to visit. Wait in line to order your food, get a buzzer and find yourself a table. Service and food were both good, but it was a bit of a zoo on the day we were there.

Having seen it on my way to hikes, I've long been curious about Alice's restaurant. And on my second attempt, we made it! The first time I was going to visit, my friend had called me from Alice's Restaurant's parking lot, letting me know that it's completely congested (inside the parking lot!!!), and suggested we meet elsewhere. On my second visit, while the parking lot was still quite full, we lucked out with another customer leaving, and parked right by the entrance to the restaurant. Pro-tip: folks at the restaurant let us know that there're plenty of parking spots nearby on Skyline. Food here is decent; it's your typical American fare, with pizzas, salads, burgers, etc. We especially enjoyed the pizza! The vibe is causal as others have said, where you walk up to the cashier, place you order, then head to a table of your choosing with your #, and the staff will bring you the food when ready. What makes Alice's Restaurant really special are the people, the charm and beauty of the restaurant and surrounding areas. Owners and brothers Jamie & Andy stopped by separately to say hello and chatted with us briefly; they made us feel welcome and at ease with the place. They both seem super down-to-earth and friendly! In addition to seating areas on the deck and inside the restaurant, there're lots of tables in the back of the restaurant, amongst the tall redwood trees. There's live music two nights per week too. I can see why so many people rave about this spot! While I probably won't make a trip specifically to come eat here, I'll definitely return when we hike in the many neighboring parks (e.g. Windy Hill, El Corte de Madera, etc.)!

    Gluten free honey cake

We went to Alice's for the first time over the weekend. I had higher hopes to be honest. We were surprised there wasn't really much of a line on a Saturday, but with the gloomy weather I guess people didn't wanna make the drive. I ordered a blt and a gluten free honey cake. The blt was pretty average. The honey cake was good. The host was really nice, but one of the servers was kinda sassy with us when we confirmed that the honey cake was gluten free. Not sure we would come back here as in our opinion, it wasn't really worth the hype...

This was our first time visiting, and we were a little confused at first about how the whole process worked. When we arrived, there was a line of about 20 people outside, which we assumed was for seating but it turns out that's actually where you place your order before heading in to find a table. Luckily, the line moved fairly quickly, and they have large menus posted outside so you can browse and be ready to order by the time you reach the front. One thing I wasn't a big fan of was having to pay and tip upfront before knowing what the service would be like. They did have a cash tip jar as well, so I held off on tipping with my card and decided to leave a cash tip later based on our experience and I'm glad I did. Once we placed our order, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was tons of seating available inside, out on the patio, and around plenty of picnic tables, even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon. We were handed a pager, and as soon as we sat down, it buzzed. I went up to the pickup area and found it was just our drinks, so I headed back to the table. About 10 minutes later, the pager went off again and I went back to grab our meals. I had a classic cheeseburger and chips. It was simple but really well done, the burger was juicy, and the bun was great. As we were eating, I noticed that while most people picked up their food like I did, some tables were getting food delivered to them. Not sure what the system is there, but it seemed a little inconsistent. That said, there were staff roaming around checking on guests and offering drink refills, which was a nice touch. Everyone we encountered was super friendly, working hard, and had great attitudes. It made me feel good about leaving a proper tip at the end. The setting was really charming, surrounded by woods and a small body of water. It had a relaxed, almost rustic vibe that made the whole experience feel unique and memorable. Definitely worth a visit, just go in knowing the setup is a little different!

My friend and I stopped by yesterday afternoon after a 5-mile hike at the Open Space Preserve nearby. The location is convenient for hikers and bikers, but parking is a challenge. The lot is very small, and while there is some street parking, it was pretty packed. The menu has a wide range of options -- breakfast pizzas, burgers, salads, and more. My friend ordered a coffee and a breakfast burrito, and I ordered a root beer, herb fries, and a half-and-half gluten-free pizza (half wild mushrooms, half Italian combo). Ordering is done outside where they give you a beeper, then you find your own seating. Indoor seating is limited, but there is outdoor seating with heat lamps. We managed to sit inside at the bar area. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the food was a bit hit or miss. My fries were cold, and although I ordered herb fries, I was given garlic fries instead -- they weren't great. The gluten-free pizza was very small, and with the extra $3 charge for the gluten-free crust, it didn't feel worth the price. The flavor was just okay, nothing memorable. On the positive side, my friend's breakfast burrito was quite large -- she only ate half. The breakfast potatoes, however, were very small and looked a bit greasy. Overall, Alice's is fine for convenience and location, especially after a hike, but given the price and food quality, it's not somewhere I see us frequenting again.

We had no idea a restaurant like this was out in Woodside. The unassuming cabin led to a rustic bar, which then led into a greenhouse room, surrounded by redwoods. I had the quail as a starter and the venison, as my entree. The quail was very well, seasoned and well cooked with very juicy and tender and flavorful meat. The crust was perfectly crispy and was flavorful as well. The venison did not taste gamey at all and was melt in your mouth tender, i really enjoyed this dish. Finally, I had the panna cotta as a dessert, which we confirmed with the restaurant was vegetarian without gelatin. Very light panna cotta without being too cloyingly sweet.I really enjoyed this one too. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals as well. And had nothing but good things to say. The prix-fixe menu was a great deal and included a muffin, appetizer, entrée, and dessert. We also had a Bloody Mary and some Brut Rosé, and both were good. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The restaurant was packed for Father's Day, with lots of families celebrating, which made for a fun atmosphere. We also loved the bar area, and after brunch we stopped by the bakery next door to pick up a few treats to take home. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the meal felt a little rushed. We were in and out in about an hour, including drinks and dessert. Our appetizer arrived almost immediately after the muffins were dropped off, before we'd really had a chance to enjoy them. Throughout the meal, empty plates tended to sit on the table longer than expected, and courses came out very quickly one after another. That said, everyone was friendly, and the manager was especially kind and attentive. I'm sure they were doing their best to keep things moving. We'd definitely come back, but probably on a less busy day so we can relax a bit more, enjoy the patio, and take our time. Great food, great drinks, and a lovely atmosphere--just a little too fast-paced for what we were hoping would be a leisurely experience.

Each dish can easily feed 2 people no joke. I got the bento combo with 3 items (teriyaki beef, teriyaki salmon, pork katsu) and a beef curry, both were $17.95 each. Everything tasted really good. The beef was super tender and well seasoned. I think I like beef teriyaki more since its thin sliced and easier to eat. Pork katsu is prob my most favorite, crispy outside but still juicy inside. They also keep some fat on the pork which I actually like lol, more flavor. Salmon and beef curry was just okay, like any other Japanese restaurant. They gave sooo much rice, I could only finish like 1/3 of mine before giving up (appreciate the generosity). There's also 2 free salads on the side but honestly I was too full to even touch it. Overall a really solid place, cheap and filling. Def recommend if you want affordable Japanese food around the Bay.
