Gott's burgers are merely okay, I think. They're pricey, and despite the restaurant pumping out an inordinate amount of smoke into the Town & Country mall, the meat doesn't taste especially smoky. The buns are pretty thick and bready. The soft serve is also unremarkable. The setting is great, however. Sitting by the large windows and watching people go by is rather nice - it's always full of families, and therefore it has more vitality and less ennui than almost all other restaurants in Palo Alto. The big redwood tree that the entire building curves around is a very nice touch. read more

If you've been to Gott's in Napa, you know the nostalgia that is part of the experience. I think it's what many of us enjoy from this roadside burger stand. Gotts, has had the second location in the San Francisco area for a while, but it's generally not within the areas that I frequent until recently. Of course I was expecting what I'm used to by visiting the Napa location, and sadly this place, just doesn't hit the same way. Overall, it just felt like a very substandard experience. I ordered the California burger which is a behemoth of a burger, and definitely is for those of you out there that are starving. I normally would've ordered the western, but I was told they were out of some of the ingredients. The California burger is supposed to be made to order. So I was very specific about asking for medium rare, and what I got was well done. Just gross. On top of that I don't know if they burnt the seasoning off of it or if it just didn't have any at all because this was the most bland burger I've had in a hot minute. The arugula, the bacon. The egg, we're just OK. The bacon was also well done and I don't know if that's what they always serve or if they just ended up giving me the wrong order. It just wasn't really great. Two bites and I was done. I'm normally a Diet Coke with my burger, kind of girl, but I decided to try the chocolate shake. No dice they were out of whatever they needed to make a chocolate shake. At this point, I'm a little frustrated, but the girl at the counter told me to try the strawberry shake because it was really good. She was really wrong. It was drinkable, but definitely not fabulous. Strawberry shake 6.00 - not worth it California burger - must opportunity for a fabulous burger. 17.00 Would I go back? No, not really $30 for a mediocre food experience. Maybe if they've gotten my order right, or if they did get it right and this is now what they do with the burgers, I would definitely not want to go back. Gott's Roadside won me over. I've seen billboards, photos, t-shirts, and a bunch of other marketing, but we had never crossed paths until now. And I am very surprised this place has as low ratings as it does. Walking in, the smell of freshly cooked burgers was a stark contrast to the smell of fresh rain, but there were no complaints from us. The place was packed, and after ordering, immediately went into table hunting mode. Split up your party, cover more ground. Luckily, we were seated in the next five minutes. Burgers were good. Bit pricey, especially if just ordering a plain burger or cheeseburger. In-N-Out will hit the same spots at a third of the cost. However, the hot sauce, garlic fries, and coffee milkshake are definitely worth trying. In the end, this place left a good impression, maybe not necessarily due to the food, but due to the memories and experiences had here. read more

It was divine the melting of the cheese with the caramelized onions was mouthwatering, the fries were an additional price and didn't come with the burger. I had to get new fries since mine were cold. They got my order number wrong so I was waiting awhile, till I got up and checked my order. The place was busy for a Saturday. My friend got the Peanut Butter Chocolate Sundae and shared. This was my first time at this particular Gott's restaurant! I've been to the one up in Napa, as well as another one in Sonoma County and an open mall. I can't remember the exact location. This one is by far as huge as the Sonoma one!! As we arrived and noticed a handful of people sitting outside. My friend and I both thought they were from the restaurant so we tried to go in and order since the doors were open. So our surprise, the lady behind the counter, told us she wasn't open for another five minutes until 11 AM!. As we walked outside, we realized the people that were sick all had cups of coffee! Lol oops!! We waited 10 minutes outside just hanging out and then we ordered our lunch to go. We both wanted to get a Sunday since the advertisement looks so delicious. Plus it's organic ice cream, that means it's healthy! Lol As we order, the lady behind the counter seemed to rather annoyed. We didn't want the Sundays right away. At the same time we got takeout so we weren't going to be eating the food there and we didn't want the suns to melt. She printed out a receipt and told both of us to hold onto the receipt. Otherwise, she was not going to make us the Sunday. We smiled and took the receipt with us as we went to sprinkles to order some cupcakes. Goodness! The lady seemed like she really hated her job and she was not thrilled with the fact that I was overly enthusiastic about this chocolate sundae because the picture looks so delicious! Gott's Roadside is one of those easy to chose restaurants when you have a group of friends that are indecisive. The menu here is vast and have options for everyone including the ones with dietary restrictions. Food ranges from burgers, salads, tacos, chicken tenders, soft serve ice cream and alcoholic beverages. The food isn't terrible but for a burger, fries, drink and tips you're looking around $25 to $30 per person. The prices are a bit high for me for an average cheeseburger that I can get anywhere else. There's no specialty house sauce or grilled onions. My favorite here so far is the chicken tender with the hot honey sauce. They do offer other fusion type burgers like their Kimchi burger for example. That's when you end up paying $20 just for the burger. I wish they incorporated some combo deals instead of charging everything al la carte. The parking here is a disaster especially over the weekends. There's also a lot of traffic going in and out of this center. A lot of that traffic is congested around Gott's because they're closer to the parking lot entrance. read more

I'm pretty surprised with the three star rating for Gott's roadside. Though I've ordered one item on the menu, I think Gott's has left a pretty good impression on me. I got the cheeseburger with the egg bun. Everything about the burger was pretty good. The vegetables tasted fresh and crisp, and the patty was perfectly cooked. However, the bun was really thick in my opinion. Bummed to say that the photo of the cheeseburger on the online menu/website looks nothing like the cheeseburger I got today. The proportions are pretty off, lol. In the photos, the patty is as big as, if not bigger than the bun. The cheeseburger I got, the bun covered the entire patty. You won't even see the meat unless you bite into it. So, I guess, you can say that the photos deceive. Also, it's understandable that 13 ish dollars is pretty pricey for only a cheeseburger, but the quality of it isn't all that bad. Gott's Roadside is a Bay Area staple for burgers and sides! I love how spacious this location is with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The employees have been attentive and friendly at every visit. I always stop by for lunch whenever I'm taking family and friends around the area, especially since they're located right across Stanford's campus. This time around, I tried their salad for the first time and loved it! I got their Vietnamese chicken salad and it was fresh and flavorful with lots of different textures. The portion is also huge! They also had seasonal specials so we ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were soooo yummy! Crispy and fresh out the fryer with a tangy dipping sauce. Not my order but tried some of the hamburger which was standard, and tried some of the gruyere & caramelized onion cheeseburger which wasn't bad but a bit too creamy/dense for my liking and not enough toppings to cut the creaminess. Garlic fries were great, onion rings were alright. Some of the onion rings were cooked too long and burnt, and the batter was a bit excessive with not much onion. I had a chance to try Gotts last night and it was a fun and lively atmosphere. This is a casual spot for burgers/sandwiches and also serves up some great soft serve. We accidentally walked through the exit door at first, and were a little confused. Oops. Here, you'll order at the cashiers, and they'll hand you a buzzer puck. There's a lot of families here, which means your experience may be noisy and a little messy. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like there were staff cleaning tables for left-behind messes. The only table available had quite a mess on it. Our cashier was a little pushy on addons and upgrades, which was a little uncomfortable. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, gruyere + caramelized onion burger, chili cheese fries, and onion rings. The menu totes that the burgers are cooked medium well, but this burger was definitely well-done - no hint of pinkness in it. The patty was too chewy, and so was the bacon. The gruyere burger's patty was at least a little pink. The first few bites were okay, but afterwards, the burger felt monotonous in its flavors. The chili-cheese fries have a fair amount of chili. But for something so colorful, it was surprisingly bland. The onion rings were good. Nice and crispy, with a flavorful batter. If you find yourself here, do grab these. read more

Get Gott Up Iconic Bay Area diner that saw it's humble beginnings w/ two brothers back in 1999 after they toke over an old (ca. 1949) roaside stand in Napa. That stand has brought them so much success that they now have eight Bay Area locations (two of which are at SFO and one inside the Chase Center), with upcoming expansions to SoCal imminent. This Town & Country (T&C) location has been in operation since 2013, and has been a T&C staple. The Good: *Friendly service *Local and macro brews on-tap, as well as fermented grapes. *Covered outdoor dog-friendly patio *Not just burgers, but they also have salads, tacos, sandwiches, and glizzies. *Garlic fries were delicious and worth the hype. *Carissa absolutely adored her Vietnamese Chicken Salad--as she wouldn't stop raving about it. *My Kimchi burger was so good and absolutely satisfied my burger craving. I loved all the accouterments as well, as the kimchi, bacon, and egg really brought the burger to a new level. My one qualm was the burger itself was a touch over for my liking, but the egg yolk and kimchi helped with the needed moisture. The Meh: *I wish they'd open one a little *ahem* closer to home in the SJ area. *Weekends can be super packed, as we happened to be at T&C one Sat a few weeks back and there was a giant bike party grabbing lunch here at Gott's. We were in the area and in need of lunch. The last time we saw this place, it was packed. This time it was busy but hardly anyone in line and plenty of open tables. So we decided to check it out. I thought they only had burgers and fries so I was pleasantly surprised to see salads on the menu. I got the Vietnamese Chicken Salad and it was delicious! I thought Gott's was a bit underwhelming. Everything physically looked good, but tasted just ok. The poke tacos were a surprising option for "fast food". But, they fell short of our expectations because they only contained a meager portion of ahi poke and were ultimately kind of bland. I liked the onion rings, which had a good ratio of batter to onion. The chopped salad looks/sounds good, but the whole thing was just executed poorly. The orange chunks were super fiberous (use supremes instead of weird chunks!), the chicken was dry, and the salad just overall kind of wilty and sad. It might have been an off day, but I don't think I would order entrees from here again. Stick to their Straus soft serve! While you can't go wrong with ice cream, you unfortunately can go wrong with salads and "tacos". read more

My goodness this place just never fails to disappoint and I think today I finally learned my lesson. I was in the area and needed a quick bite to eat so stopped to pick up ahi poke tacos. First of all, I have no clue why they're normalizing paying 20 bucks for tacos that have maybe a tablespoon or two of actual poke. Not even sure how fresh it is due to the dull color and how well it's prepped cus there's tons of loose tendons all over. It's about 80 percent sauce with cabbage, 10 percent avocado, and 10 percent poke. You're literally paying for a taco that has as much avocado as tuna. Never coming back here again and for the owner-you should really start reading the reviews before this location goes under and make adjustments as needed. read more

I really like the Gott's Roadside in the Ferry Building location and have been there multiple times for either a meal or a soft serve pick me up. Was hoping for a similar experience at this location but it fell a little flat in comparison. The burgers were just ok, even though the California Burger had some more unique ingredients for $16.99. The fries we ordered were pretty good, but unfortunately the sweet potato fries were barely warm by the time we got our food. Ice cream (vanilla and chocolate) were both tasty and a good way to end the meal. Their soft serve machine was broken the day we went, or else we would've gotten that instead. Not a horrible experience but certainly not outstanding either. Good to know that they do offer their sweet treats here next time I'm in the area and want to indulge. read more

SF's Gott's Roadside is located in the venerable Town & Country strip mall across from Stanford campus. They have one of the best burgers in the Bay Area. The first meal I wanted after returning from a month in Korea and Japan was a bonafide American hamburger that was not from a fast food chain such as In N' Out. Once you enter, you basically order at the counter and then they give you a remote pager that will buzz and flash once your food is ready. They give you your drinks at the counter when you pay and then you can find a table inside or outside. Might as well take orders via a touch screen menu with how impersonal the service is. There are several picnic tables outside with umbrellas for larger groups next to the parking lot. Lots of seating inside and outside, but sometimes even all of those seats are full. This place does get very busy at times. I ordered a decadent Western Bacon Blue Ring that has a clump of Point Reyes blue cheese, a fried onion ring, red onion and thick beef patty on a toasted egg bun. The cheese probably would've been better if it was spread more evenly. Instead I got one big bite of it on the side where it was placed. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Was nice to have a burger from Gott's after eating almost nothing but Korean food for 3 weeks. I've had the Green Chile Burger and California Burger in past visits and all of them are well put-together with quality ingredients. The ketchup they have is unusually good. It has extra spice and tanginess that contributes to its bold flavor. They go together excellently with the fries. They also have shakes and soft serve ice cream, which are popular when it gets hot. I hope to return to Gott's more often this summer. read more

Most of this review is based on my experience as a parent with two small children, so please bear that in mind. Located in Palo Alto's Town & Country Village, this spot makes some decent burgers. Upon walking in, you see two very large boards to your right with menu items and a screen advertising specials in the middle. I've been here twice now, and both times I didn't realize/remember as I started walking in line is that the two boards are different, so be sure to check out both. The kid's menu is on the left board. There doesn't seem to be a menu at the counter either, I only saw the specials, so best remember your order or if you have a larger group, jot them down on your phone ahead of time. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready (pickup all the way to the right/back of the restaurant), and they hand you your drinks at the counter. Problem is, I had ordered two kid's meals with milk and a drink for myself, and they all come in the plastic cups with lids and straws. That meant I was wrangling two toddlers while trying to very precariously balance three drinks just waiting to drop and explode everywhere. It would be great if they offered a tray perhaps here. If the place is crowded, you have nowhere to set anything down without the kindness of strangers willing to temporarily share their table. There's a lot of booths and tables inside, and tables outside with covering. Despite it sprinkling rain, all the tables on a late Saturday lunch were being used, so the shelter seems excellent. We were lucky to snag a booth inside, and sat down waiting for our food. There's a very narrow area with napkins, condiments, and water near the food pickup area, so there's often a line of folks standing beside this area. Folks getting condiments and water also often have their trays of food with them so it's often in the way as they leave it there to grab their things even though the item you want to grab is available. This is inherently only a solo parent with small children issue, but that process took a longer time than comfortable to leave small children sitting alone in a booth. Eventually buzzer went off and I went to pick up our food. They have to-go boxes and utensils behind that counter so be sure to ask for them if you need it. The food comes in small disposable trays that seem slightly too small for your burger and fries, so I also ask for an extra paper tray to spread the items out. The food is decent. The veggies for the kid's meal is raw and the carrots are thick (not ideal for toddlers) but fresh. The chicken tenders are interesting (different from what you might typically expect) and small, but my kids seem to enjoy them so served its purpose well enough. Next to the condiments section is a trash area and tray return, but we were lucky where a staff member helped collect from our table for us (this mom appreciates you!). All in all, good food with a slightly steep price tag ($16+ burgers without complimentary fries, $9 kid's menu). Ambiance is kid friendly but the layout and drink pickup at the counter is really not conducive to solo parent with little kids for sure. Will be back only if my partner or another grownup is with me, or adults only. I'm sure otherwise the experience is great. read more

Tried Gotts Roadside few months ago They had a limited-time 25th Anniversary Burger, and it was AMAZING. Double-stacked beef patties, melted Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, and garlic mayo. I'm not usually a fan of onions, but the caramelized onions in this burger were surprisingly delicious! The garlic fries are crispy, savory, and totally addictive. Ordered a cheeseburger on an egg bun, and split some brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries with friends. Boyfriend got the chicken sandwich on filone, it came with avocado. The cheeseburger was exactly what I wanted -- meaty, rich and thick. Everything else was pretty good too. read more

Loving that this location is closer and slightly more convenient, however, with the already bustling PA Town & Country Center it can be a bit hectic getting in and out of the center. Went on a weekend and Gott's was packed, luckily they do offer outside patio seating at high top tables and bench tables. Line to order wasn't too bad and service time was short. They were out of their seasonal item but opted for the Citrus & Avocado Chop and a side of Garlic Fries. The Citrus & Avocado Chop - romaine & red leaf lettuce with asado spice-rubbed chicken, cilantro-pumpkin seed dressing, oranges, tomatoes, black beans, pickled red onions & quinoa, topped with avocado, toasted pumpkin seeds & Cotija cheese. The salad was good besides the chicken, it was cold, tough and dry. The rest of the salad was delicious and felt like all the toppings were balanced in proportion. Garlic Fries - a must get here, a good classic fry with delicious garlic flavor without being overpowering or sharp tasting or bitter. Prices are typical and not bad. Came out to around $20 for salad and fries, prior to tip. read more

Fun atmosphere after the Stanford Cardinal men's team beat North Carolina for the second consecutive year. The place was full of disappointed Tar Heel fans drowning their sorrows in beer and burgers. My fried Rob and I both order the Gruyère and Carmelized Onion burger. Delicious! Fries were fresh and crispy. I was surprised to see Zap's hot sauce--nice touch! read more

A bit overpriced but the food is quality. Standard americana burger spot with great shakes across from the Stanford Campus. They recently got their liquor license so you can enjoy beer and wine there now as well. But I'd stick to the shakes. Highly recommend the onion rings or sweet potato fries as an accoutrement. They'll serve you a pesto ranch dipping sauce for both that is unique to this place. Parking is a bit of an issue because they share a parking lot with Trader Joe's so take a few deep breaths before you leave the house. read more

Located in town and country, this restaurant is a great place for a casual place to eat. I had a great experience here starting with the friendly and funny employee taking our order. He was very personable and welcoming. I appreciate all of the vegan options here even though it's more of a retro dinner vibe. They have something for everyone! I'd never tried impossible nuggets before but I loved them and the sweet potato fries. Their sauces were also amazing- the honey mustard was my favorite! I'm looking forward to trying more menu items. There's lots of inside and outside seating making this a great place despite any weather. read more
