    Garlic Parmesan tater tots
    Sophia C.

The garlic Parmesan tater tots are amazing!!! Definitely the best thing here. I tried the ono sandwich and it was very crispy and fresh, although the batter seasoning could be stronger. The coffee was also decent. Saturday around noon the wait for the food to come out took a bit due to several orders coming in online. There also isn't much seating in the area.

Very clean establishment. Considering they have a clear counter wall, you can see everything behind the appliances. It's pristine back there! Service was fine. There are 2 kiosks to order from. You place your order. It's confirmed on your phone. Then you wait. My order was ready in about 10 min. We ordered: Sunny Side Avo Toast - that egg was perfectly runny. A. T. A. - well seasoned. Good balance of ingredients. What we loved about their avocado toasts is that the bread was perfectly toasted. Toasted just right to stay crisp yet chewy. Nice sized slices of bread. Will definitely come back.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. They're open early at 7:00am! We arrived around 10:00am, and the parking lot was pretty crowded already. Hatched itself wasn't too crowded though. They have some smaller tables right outside of the restaurant under the awning, as well as some picnic style tables (no shade though!). We ordered the Green Dream Sandwich that comes with avocado, scrambled eggs with chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, baby arugula, and garlic aioli on a baked bun. The bun was soft, and I enjoyed the creaminess of the avocado. They have tater tots that you can get as a side, and they were nice and crispy! We also got the Miso Caesar Salad. It has romaine hearts, kale, red cabbage, shave parmesan, tomatoes, red onions, and croutons with a miso Caesar dressing. The salad could have used some more dressing. It was dressed very lightly. I couldn't really taste the miso flavor either. Croutons were large and pretty hard. I'd skip the salad next time and just go for one of their sandwiches. Didn't get a drink, but I noticed they have a decent amount of matcha lattes and other specialty drinks. Will have to try one next time!

Came by Hatched in Palo Alto and overall it was a decent experience. I tried the dirty matcha and it wasn't my favorite, but the barista was really kind and helped adjust it, which I appreciated. The bread was a little on the stale side, but the tater tots were definitely a highlight. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Overall, it was fine, but probably not a spot I'd go out of my way to come back to.

On a bright and sunny Tuesday afternoon, my partner and I decided we wanted some breakfast sandwiches. There is nowhere better than hatched for me. We ordered the Holy Shiitake and the Breakfast Burger as well as Garlic Parm Tater Tots. The Holy Shiitake was nice and saucy with really delicate eggs and a lot of flavor. The Breakfast Burger had everything you would want in a breakfast burger and everything was cooked well. One caveat of this place, is that everything is served with arugula, which is a huge plus to me, but may not be everyone's cup of tea. The Garlic Parm Tater Tots were delicious and they actually layer in the toppings, so it's all throughout, but I think they could've fried a little longer for a little bit more crisp. Overall, I really enjoyed the food we had here and though there isn't seating inside, there are a ton of benches just outside.

This place isn't bad but I wouldn't come for a long while. I came with my team lady last Friday for brunch and we had a good time. I thought their jalapeño smash burger was decent but a bit dry. It wasn't cheesy or gooey like most smash burgers. My burger tasted like a Philly cheesesteak with the taste of green pepper and dried meat my garlic tater tots were fantastic and for the price of $5, you can't beat the portion and games. My friend ordered the Ono chicken sandwich was also good and had a nice tempura-like outer shell. The garlic aioli was good and paired nicely with the chicken. I could do without the arugula but either way, this option was great. Prices aren't bad; it's like $12-$13 a burger. I'll come back again for sure but not for a while.

tried this egg breakfast sandwich spot where you order at a kiosk and pick up after. definitely more of a grab-and-go vibe. there are a few outdoor tables but they were all taken on a saturday. sandwich was pretty good but kinda messy to eat since it's thick and really packed. hash browns were solid tho.

We decided to try Hatched as we are in the area for take out or dining often and it was a new option to try. Seems they just opened and maybe need to get out of the soft opening mode. Ordered the breakfast burger, tater tots and and a sunny side avocado toast. We were told that they will call our name outside (no dining inside). Waited for 15min as it seemed it was busy with the weekend crowd. At last I had to go in to check on the order and it was sitting on the counter in the bag. Needless to say it was cold! The food was good but truly nothing special about it. Even the tater tots which were fried were not crispy at all!! Not sure if we will back...

I'm a loyal customer at the Sunnyvale location and was excited the family opened in Palo Alto because of WEEKENDS! The hub and I dropped by this morning. The service is quick and efficient. Seating is all outdoors. There was a constant stream of customers. I had no idea Roost & Roast was two stores down! YAY! We also read an article about the brothers and Mr. Chau's. Amazing back story!! We enjoyed our breakfast. Delicious and consistent with the Sunnyvale location. I enjoyed The Ono and the hub devoured his BEC.

Service: excellent Food: excellent Price point: fair/good for the area! Drinks: poor -- Their sandwiches taste as good as they look in their pictures! The Ono burger was good, my friend who also had the Ono burger said the chicken wasn't as juicy as she'd hoped, but I thought it was juicy! (She's more of a friend chicken sandwich connoisseur than I am, though.) Another friend recommended the Ono burger and add bacon, so maybe try that? The sandwich insides slide around, would be great to have a little toothpick keeping the insides in place. Just a note! The tater tots were extremely crispy, they didn't skimp on the garlic parm, and they give packets of Tapatio, ketchup, and mustard at the counter. -- Drinks: strawberry matcha latte: very powdery, very milky. The strawberry jam is good, but once the drink is mixed, it kind of disappears. My friends who ordered the dirty matcha latte and the mango matcha said they also weren't fans of their drinks... maybe it just wasn't what we expected (we enjoy Maruwu Seicha and Izumi Matcha if that helps).

Delicious breakfast sandwiches! This spot is in the back part of Town and Country, they have a couple outdoor tables and it's next to a group of several outdoor tables which are available for the surrounding food spots. We got the green dream and holy shiitake, it's nice that they have multiple vegetarian options, and both were very tasty. A little small for the price, but that's pretty standard for Palo Alto. We also got the garlic parmesan tots and those were really good, crispy and nicely flavored, and a good size portion. They have a variety of matcha lattes as well. Pretty quick, maybe took about 10 min for the sandwiches and tots to come out, nice and hot. This is a nice, casual brunch/lunch spot.

Hatched is an egg sandwich specific restaurant. They specialize in a variety egg sandwiches as well as avocado toast, smash burgers, salads and you can't forget their drinks. They offer more than 1/2 a dozen different matcha lattes as well as espresso lattes and teas. The interior is small but cute and has funny egg decor on the walls. There is no indoor dining as they are pretty much meant to take out but there are tables and chairs outside to dine at. I've been here a few times now and I'm most certainly a fan. The B.F.F. sandwich is really good, the creamy scrambled eggs pair perfect with the cheddar, caramelized onions, chives, arugula and garlic aioli. The sandwich is full of flavor and the bun holds up very well with everything that's on the sandwich. If I had to critique it I would say there should be less arugula, there was way too much on the sandwich and it could use a little more of that yummy garlic aioli. I also tried the Jalapeno Smash Burger and unfortunately I was not impressed. The burger is topped with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, smoked bacon, jalapenos and sriracha aioli but I think my burger was missing half of the ingredients. The burger was very bland, the patties weren't seasoned and I didn't really taste anything. Also the meat seemed to be low quality because it had a lot of grit or fat that I had to spit out which made it impossible for to finish the burger. I do like the lattes! I have gotten the Honey Lavender Latte a couple of times and it's really good, if you like lavender this is the drink for you. I will definitely be back for their breakfast sandwiches and lattes. I recommend trying if you want a good breakfast sandwich and good coffee in the area.

So excited to have a new breakfast spot next to campus! The garlic Parmesan tots are super crispy and garlicky but are super oily so I did skip eating the tots towards the bottom. The sandwich was pretty good. The pork belly slice was very tender and was thick so you're definitely getting your money's worth. I'm excited to go back and try a different sandwich next time and a drink! Also, there is no inside seating so keep that in mind!

We had the hojicha and biscoff ones. Not incredibly busy - a lot of orders were takeout. Cons: A lot of things were out of stock by 1pm but maybe this is due to Mother's Day. Pricey but the items were high quality. Store is a small footprint with limited utilities (no WiFi, bathroom was temporarily out of order). Parking is very difficult- it's on el Camino so the cars are unforgiving if you're trying to parallel park, and the road parallel by a block is not much better. It has an alley and a very cramped space in the back for a lot. Expect to walk.
